|| Sandsplash - - Thistletail. - - ||
Sandsplash was hanging off a small, frail tree by the side of the oasis. It was more of a large shrub than a tree, really, just big enough for her to rest her body weight on the one jutting out, dead branch. She had been there early that morning, since it was hard for her to do pretty much anything during sun-high, all the way until dusk. Basically, dawn and the night were her only times to help the clan. It was easy to sense the somewhat low-key hostility some of clan-mates held for her being this way, calling her a 'wet paw' either behind her back, or in front of her face. The last thing Sandsplash wanted was for people to look at her as weaker... So, she had been spying on the oasis that entire morning, watching for any weak, smaller animals that she could snatch up as they came to drink upon the cool waters.
And to her credit, she had collected a sizable pile of prey, all buried under the large shrub that she stalked over. Her eyes darted to the side as she saw the small, dusky brown body of a mouse scurry from one bush to the other. She noticed that someone else had arrived, but Sandsplash hadn't looked up to them yet, too focused on the potential prey not far beneath her paws. Her shadow cast the opposite direction of the mouse, she watched it nibble at small berries, none the wiser to her slowly slinking form. You're mine. I'd like to see them call me a wet paw NOW! She thought to herself as she sprung out of the small tree and landed in front of the mouse, just barely missing her trajectory. Her sudden pounce startled the pigs around the oasis, they squealed and bucked, running at the first sign of danger. But they were coming right for her!
Sandsplash's eyes widened, although her muscles froze in fear, a part of her screamed that if she didn't do something she was going to get trampled! She sprung forward, leaping over the pigs as they came sprinting at her. She sailed over their heads, a brief moment of victory, before she remembered that what comes up must come down. Sandsplash's paws flailed as she landed ungracefully into the pool of the oasis with a large splash! She pulled herself up to the surface with a gasp, paws kicking, easily keeping her a float. The water wasn't a danger to her, but it was annoying. Her once dry, pale golden fur now clung to her skin. With her ears flattened she turned towards the shore, seeing Thistletail. Embarrassment hit her with the force of a diving hawk. "Oh heeeeey, Thistletail..." she laughed uncomfortable as she begun to paddle to shore. She hauled herself up out of the water, looking like a mess. "What brings you here?" She tried to act as nonchalant as she could. As though pretending that by not talking about her failure, it would be as though her clan-mate had never seen it.

{ I saw! It looks gorgeous. I really want to join, but I am so paranoid that I won't be active enough? I have a hard time juggling multiple threads, like, I can comfortably give enough attention to 2, but anymore and I begin to fall back on one. D: But I'm sure your clan will take off! With an awesome plot like the one you have, I'd be surprised if it didn't. }

J a c k a l s t a r C a m p || M a s k e d s h a d e Jackalstar shut his eyes and nodded, letting out a low breath of relief. It wasn't as though there was an immediate threat of danger from them, but having them so close within their borders it was definitely something to keep an eye on now and again. When he opened his eyes he looked over at Maskedshade, "I'm thinking we should brush up our battle skills today," Jackalstar instructed. He couldn't think of the last time that he had actually organized a battle training session that wasn't just for mentors and their apprentices. "We've got to keep our warriors sharp," he said to his deputy, looking to him for agreement. He only hoped that they could find a spot cool enough to brush up their skills in, as he didn't want his clan-mates to have to suffer too much in the heat of the day. He knew they could handle it, but still, with such an energy exerting activity it would be best to be somewhere out of the way of the sun. T h i s t l e t a i l O a s i s || S a n d s p l a s h Sitting at the water's edge observing the bugs making their way across the water, he hadn't noticed the other warrior in the oasis until he heard a thundering splash and the squealing of the pigs he had dismissed earlier. Instantly he got to all fours and his eyes focused in on the scene going on a ways out. Thistletail did is best to try to pick out what was going on when he caught sight of the sopping wet figure of Sandsplash. "Great StarClan," the tom-cat muttered with half-amusement and worry. "Hey there! Just came to relax." He gave her a smile, noticing how tense and uncomfortable she was. "Are the waters cool?" He joked, patting the sand next to him with his tail to indicate to her that she was free to sit down if she wanted.

"Perfectly cool!" Sandsplash's voice boomed with sarcasm, her voice loud, echoing around the now empty oasis pool. She planted her paws firmly on the ground and gave a hard shake of her fur, droplets of glistening water spraying out from her pale golden fur in every direction. When she stopped, her fur was noticeably more puffed than before. Sandsplash grinned at Thistletail, noticing the droplets now hanging from his whiskers. She moved herself beside him and plopped down, flicking out her tail as she began to comb her paws through it. "A little too cool if you ask me." She murmured. "And before you say I've been goofing off with taking swims, I'll have you know I caught quite a few morels while I was out here," she added playfully.

T h i s t l e t a i l O a s i s || S a n d s p l a s h At first the flame-colored tom was chuckling, but feeling the water droplets hit his face and roll off his whiskers woke him right out of his amusement. "Hey!" he exclaimed, shaking his head vigorously, "it's cool alright," Thistletail replied with a gruff tone. He couldn't stay upset for long as he observed the she-cat drying herself off, "I wasn't going to say anything but now that you've brought it up, I'm sure Jackalstar will be pleased," he said with some enthusiasm in his voice. He knew how hard it was at times for the night-time warriors to get deserved praise in the clan. He made it a personal point to only refer to them as "night-time warriors" instead of "wet paws", because his own mother was just like Sandsplash, and he found he thought they deserved a little more respect than that. Sure, the tom-cat still sometimes had a difficult time to accept them as equal to the rest of the clan, especially with the dirty whispers he heard from the others, but he did what he figured was his best, or at least better than what some others were willing to do. "Isn't it about time you headed back?" He asked her innocently, looking towards the rising sun ahead of waters.

Maskedshade - - - DuneClan Camp; Open; @tags Whilst the deputy would never have said it aloud for fear of losing an ear or two, the tom cat did worry that his leader expected too much of the clan. As hard as they worked and tried to please him, it did at times seem as though there was no pleasing the expectations of the older dark furred tom. Watching Jackalstar as a million thoughts seemed to run through his head at a single time, he saw the degree of anticipation that the deputy agree with his thoughts. Maskedshade allowed the uncertainty to darken his gaze, if only for a split second before he chased it from his expression but he knew it was likely too late to save himself from a rollocking. A soft sigh came from the tom cat as he replied with a shrug of his shoulders. "It is important to keep on top of our skills," was his initial agreement. "But there is also a need to keep the clan's moral high, and understand they do their best for us." He explained simply, speaking his mind even if it might bring him trouble.

{ -Subtly does a time skip so Sandsplash can be back at camp to interact with Ospreywhisker - }
Thistletail was right... As soon as the sun came up it seemed the heat would begin to prevail, and although Sandsplash was silently bubbling with a bit of guilt, she picked up her fresh pieces of kill and began to set back to the camp of DuneClan. Even on her way there Sandsplash could feel the sand begin to heat up and burn her paw pads. She had quickened her pace to a fast trot, finally spilling into the DuneClan camp just as the heat was really starting to take hold. Panting slightly, but trying not to let it show, the golden she-cat dropped her catches on the fresh kill pile, allowing herself to feel a bit of pride! It wasn't every day a 'wet paw' caught that much prey in one night. She turned, tail flicking happily. But, now that her duties had been fulfilled she hadn't found that tiredness had begun to take hold of her yet... Strange, considering the she-cat was out from dusk until dawn, but the thought of crawling into her nest right now made her feel lethargic. She spotted Ospreywhisker besides the warrior cat den, the beautiful white and brown dappled she-cat was made to perfectly survive in the temperature of the day. Lucky... The two had a history of bickering, ever since their apprentice years, when Sandsplash had continued to brag about how she was a couple moons older than her, and thus would be made a warrior before her. Sandsplash always liked to pretend that she was one step ahead of Ospreywhisker, even though in reality it was kind of the other way around. The golden she-cat picked up a large vole and trotted towards her proudly, letting a bit of a gloat appear in her step. "Is vis seat vaken?" She said past her mouthful of fur.

Sorry I took so long to respond, I had to let the dog out! xD))
Ospreywhisker - Camp - Sandsplash Ospreywhisker regarded camp quietly, her mind wandering from the present as she lost herself in thought. Occupied by the mental images of sand dunes and the possible prey they withheld, she was caught off guard by the trill of Sandsplash's triumphant voice. Wicked back to the present, the bicolor shecat felt her ears burn with embarrassment. A known thinker, it was common for her to zone out in her apprentice years. Apparently, she still did it. "It's all yours," Ospreywhisker replied, tapping her tail beside her for emphasis. Her blue gaze lingered on her golden-tabby clanmate for a heartbeat longer than necessary. As apprentices they always gravitated to each other, opposites always did seem to attract. She always tended to think things through, weigh all possible options before acting. Sandsplash on the other hand always had something to prove and was the first to jump in, head or paws first. Ospreywhisker admired her for it, but would never admit it. The dappled shecat touched her muzzle to Sandsplash's ear in friendly greeting.
"Wow, you were successful. Not bad for a night-time warrior." She purred in an affectionate tease, cautious to use the term Night-time warrior instead of Dry paw. No matter how hard they but heads, she respected Sandsplash enough to never use the offensive term.

Sandsplash puffed out her chest, allowing herself to smile warmly as she sat down beside Ospreywhisker, standing so tall and proud that she was almost toppling over. "Yeah well I have the element of surprise on my enemy during the night," She said, gesturing with her tail nonchalantly, even though she was clearly wearing the playful tone of I know I'm better than you. It was all in jest however, thankfully the two knew each other long enough to be able to read their ques better than others. If they couldn't, their bickering and bantering might turn to actual fights. Instead the two danced in a strange limbo of frienemies part of the time, and annoying pest the other part of the time. "You know, you should try it day time warrior." She turned to her and stuck out her tongue briefly, laughing before pulling it back and lowering her head for her first bite. "Then again, if you were a night time warrior too I would have to deal with you for twice as long." Shots fired, Sandsplash, shots fired.

Ospreywhisker - Camp - Sandsplash Ospreywhisker tried to stifle the laugh bubbling up in her throat, failing horribly. Despite the defeated crinkle in her nose, her blue eyes shone with amusement. "That sounds like a challenge," The white and brown dappled shecat purred, playing in suit. Her whiskers twitched as she dipped into a crouch to go nose to nose with the stunning golden warrior. "I bet you I could catch a rabbit at night, if you can catch a lizzard by day!"

{ Oh yeah that's totally fine Quail! ^w^ I call dog pupper's too. ;w; What I love about birds is that you don't gotta take them outside they just sit and scream and be cute. }
Anyone who knew Sandpsplash knew that she never backed down from a challenge. Ever! No matter what the challenge, if you dared her to jump into an icy cold lake (which would never happen in DuneClan) she'd do it, just to prove that she could. She pushed her head forward so the two were nose to nose, their eyes level with one another. "I could catch 5 lizard before you so much as spot a rabbit, mud-brain!" She chided, Sandsplash's pride nothing to be questioned. Of course it was a ridiculous challenge. The golden warrior could barely drag herself back to camp without having a heat stroke, hunting was entirely improbable! But at the same time, man would it be so sweet to rub it in her face when she lost!

Aggg sorry! I'm really slow at replying today.)) Ospreywhisker- Camp - Sandsplash (kanti ) Ospreywhisker's tail curled cheerfully, her taunt hanging loftily in the air with a youthful electricity crackling between them. Only Sandsplash seemed to rise this side of her normally unperturbed nature. A twinge of guilt caught her stomach, as she remembered her sensitivity to sunhigh's heat. As quickly as she'd jumped to match her clanmate's enthusiasm, Ospreywhisker's quiet reserve regained its iron grasp. However long it took to lure her out of her shell, she could just as quickly recoil. The white and brown dappled she cat withdrew from Sandsplash's transfixing gaze. "Then it's settled, we'll start tonight when it's cooler." Ospreywhisker said dryly, trying to hide the concern in her pale blue eyes. Knowing Sandsplash as well as she did, she knew that once challenged, there was no turning back. One goad was all it took, and it was hook line and sinker. Rising off of her paws, Ospreywhisker faced her again, and the fondness in her eyes softening the edge to her previous words. She studied Sunsplash's expression, waiting for the inevitable whip-quick response or fiery retort. As infuriating as she could be, her charisma and charm were hard to ignore. Just like when they were apprentices, she could always somehow rile Ospreywhisker up.

Tumblefoot // Camp // Opsreywhisker Tekoa - Sandsplash kanti Tumblefoot rolls over onto her stomach and pushes herself upwards into a standing position. The she-cat has been resting around for a majority of the day after going for a short hunt earlier that morning. She's had nothing else to do and quite frankly has enjoyed having a little bit of time to herself. However, she supposes that she can't lie around for the entire day. The she-cat stretches herself out and moves out into the camp clearing. Her eyes flit across the cats around camp before settling on heading towards Sandsplash and Ospreywhisker. She might as well say hello.
