「 D u n e C l a n 」
In a land of extreme heat, sand for miles and the threat of predators constant, only one Clan could adapt to the harsh everyday conditions. DuneClan cats have adapted over the seasons to require less water, have furry, tough paws to withstand the heat and ultimately the ability to survive in the desert. Cats born in DuneClan are always a shade of different browns, tans and whites, a physical adaptation to their surroundings which helps them hunt better. Although these cats have gone through these dynamic shifts to be better acclimated to their environment, there are still a small number of kits born every season that lack immensely in these characteristics and can not survive off of the little water that others do and find the heat of the desert unbearable. These cats, unfortunately, will spend most of their days inside of the well shaded part of the territory; in camp, only able to come out to hunt during the middle of the night when it is coolest. Most cats pretend that these inferior clan-mates are still valuable, but behind the facade is terrible discrimination, and many of these less adapted cats decide to group together and do their best to survive.

i. Forum Rules - Please follow all forum rules, and if you have not read them yet then I urge you to do so.
ii. Activity - It is very understandable that members have lives outside of the forums and also responsibilities to other roleplays, but in order to keep this Clan active and moving I do require that members come on to roleplay at least three times a week, and if you have a larger, important role or a high ranking I do ask that you check in five times a week, as it is important to be up to date on what has been going on.
iii. Literacy - Please use proper grammar when roleplaying, and always head your replies with the name of your character, location, and who you are responding to, as it eases a lot of confusion. Furthermore this is a literate roleplay and I ask that you try your best to write five or more sentences per reply as it offers a lot more in depth description to your characters and allows a lot more ideas for people to reply to.
iv. Sexualities - Feel free to make your characters any sexuality you wish, but do not make it their personality, and do not make any transgender characters, as it is impossible to transition in the cat world and realistically speaking would never happen.
v. Realism - Keep names, pelt colors, eye colors and abilities realistic. This is especially important for names (though it's all important), I will not accept any characters with a name that is unrealistic to the terrain. Considering the fact that this takes place in a desert setting, no cat should have knowledge of what a bear, ocean, seashell, etc. would be, so do keep that in mind. Also, in terms of hunting and battling, please ensure that your character is not always winning battles and catching a whole forest of prey; cats get injured, they die, prey escapes, it's a part of life.
vi. Kits - No kit-stealing, and also no joining with an orphaned kit or expecting queen. It is much more rewarding and interesting to start relationships inside of the Clan as an apprentice/warrior.
vii. Names - If a prefix is already in use by two characters, it is now off-limits until one of the characters have died/are removed.
viii. Character limit - Unlike most roleplays, I do have a character limit, which is five cats, however elders and deceased cats are not included in this limit.
ix. Apprentices - You may only have two of your character slots filled with apprentices, the rest must be of other ranks. I feel that sometimes clans can get out of hand with having two dozen apprentices, so to combat that I have put a restriction on it. Furthermore, apprentices must absolutely have gone through at least two hunting practice training and one battle practice training in order to become a warrior.
x. Bloodlines - I do not allow members to be their own kin as I feel that it takes away opportunity to create bonds with other cats and members, so please do ask other members if they would like to be related to your character in any way; I feel that it is more fun and adds more to the roleplay.
xi. Other - Make sure to put the password "Bubba Bill" in your joining form so I know that you got this far into reading or skimming the rules.

i - DuneClan Camp The camp is tucked away in a large desert cave made of thick, protective rock and shrubs as well as sand. Through the entrance, there is a clearing which is mostly unused except for lounging around. There is a smaller tunnel-like entrance through this clearing which is only big enough to fit two cats at most which stretches out for a few fox-lengths before opening up to the clearing of camp. The first clearing once you enter the cave is a great front as it allows the clan to stay hidden deeper within the cave. The leader's den and medicine cat den are on each side when you walk in, and are large openings in the caves walls that lead to a lower ground. The fact that these dens are dipped into the ground and not surface level greatly help with keeping the dens cool. Next to the medicine cat den is the elder's den and nursery, and on the other side of the cave's walls beside the leader's den are the warriors den and apprentices den. ii - Oasis The oasis is the most lush, well fertilized and active part of DuneClan's territory. It is where many warriors and apprentices go to hunt and train and medicine cats go to gather bundles of herbs. The waters are brown and a bit murky but the water is safe to drink and hunt from. Many species can be found here from mice, hare, porcupines, and the odd little creature known as the jerboa. There are also predators that sometimes stop by the oasis for a drink, like wild dogs, snakes, hyena and cheetahs, though none of them stay too long once they smell the overwhelming scent of clan cats. iii - Snake Stream Named not only for its winding and swirling features, the stream is home to many aggressive snakes that rest at the beds and forage for food and shelter. It is ill-advised to go down to the stream during sun-high as this is when they are most active, so most cats will attempt hunting trips to Snake Stream during dawn or after sundown, though they must still be extremely cautious. iv - The Forest Stout, needled trees and muted shrubs surround the stream and create a sort of desert forest which has perfect spots for hunting, battle training and also grows many essential herbs. It is one of the most well bordered and scent marked areas of DuneClan's territory because of how vital it is to their survival. v - Quarry A simple rocky quarry that is not often visited as it is difficult terrain and also home to a large pack of violent hyenas. Because the quarry is right between the oasis and Snake Stream, it isn't uncommon to spot a few hyenas in hunting packs.

You're not a Desert Cat, You're a Wet Paw! [ Current ] Tensions have never been this high in DuneClan before like they are right now. It seems like more and more kits are born each season that lack any desert cat capabilities; they dehydrate quickly, they can not stand the extreme heats, and hunting in the sand simply does not come naturally to them. There is sand for miles and miles with no end, no chance for these incapable cats to thrive in a new environment. However, recently there has been chatter secretly among these cats about living at the oasis; not to leave DuneClan, but to create a separate camp that has better access to water and cool shade. It would not be perfect, but it would be better. Jackalstar is not oblivious to these secret night-time discussions and he knows what a break in the clan might do to not only the spirit of DuneClan, but also his authority as a leader. It is up to these cats to decide if they will challenge Jackalstar and make a home at the oasis or if they will continue to lead a difficult life in the camp caves. But, what if Jackalstar decides DuneClan should start weeding out the incapable?

「 A l l e g i a n c e s 」
Leader
J a c k a l s t a r Jackalstar is a dense, short-furred tom-cat with a tan and brown base coat and tabby markings. His eyes are pale and green and seem slightly small compared to his large, rounded head. Though from the neck up he looks like he would be stocky, Jackalstar has long, muscular legs and broad shoulders with large paws to accompany the rest of his overwhelmingly muscular appearance. As a warrior he was one of the best fighters and prided himself on his body count that he made sure to brag on with every she-cat who he thought had peaked an interest in him. He's a very prideful cat with a big ego, it was surprising to every cat that Spottedstar chose him as Deputy, but what characteristics overcome his pride and ego make him someone to at least mildly respect. Jackalstar would die for any one of his clan-mates and is a good friend to anyone who needs him. He is almost always on the sidelines of battle and hunting practices with the apprentices when he has time to cheer them on and make sure that they are properly trained. His complete love for DuneClan is what outshines his unsavory qualities, but nevertheless he can still be really annoying without trying. Morticat Deputy
M a s k e d s h a d e Of athletic build, this tom is set on a small but muscular frame, speed coupled with deceptive strength make him a considerable threat on the battlefield. Predominantly white in colour, he is blanketed across the spine in a stripe of black, culminating in two stripes down his face finishing at the nose, in a mask like marking. His legs are striped with the same colour and his eyes are a light blue colour. Level headed and calm, Maskedshade is known for being willing to make the decisions others might have found difficult. Independent and quiet, he is more suited to the shadows than he is to the limelight, however, when he feels it is necessary he is more than willing to speak up. @velveteenwolf

Senior Warriors
T h i s t l e t a i l Named for his bristly tail, Thistletail is a long-furred reddish-orange tom-cat with flecks of dark brown that accent parts of his face, back and tail. He is a slender built warrior, with a body and long legs that are ideal for agile battle moves and quickly capturing prey. Thistetail exudes a very positive, friendly energy that draws cats in to him who seek someone to let off their emotional baggage or to bounce ideas off of without being judged. It isn't as if he goes out of his way to jump into action to help, but he will rarely refuse, as he is quite the empathetic tom. However as nice as he is, he finds it difficult to be a mentoring type which hinders him not only in the apprentice department but also with caring for kits. Morticat D u s t p o u n c e Dustpounce is a lilac colored tortie she-cat which would make for perfect camouflage in the sand were it not for her being a "wet paw", essentially unable to handle the desert environments. She has large, green eyes and a thick, plumed tail, and underneath all of her dense fur is sturdy muscle. Most nights when she gets out into the cool territories she spends her time doing border patrol and scent marking the farther regions of DuneClan territory like the edge of the quarry and the stream, doing some hunting occasionally on her walks back as day-break hits. She is usually asleep most of the day so she doesn't really put herself out there to talk to her clan-mates who are able to walk around freely during the day, mostly keeping to her tight knit group of clan-mates that accompany her sometimes on her border patrols. When she does get to talking, she can be very bubbly and optimistic, hoping to cheer up those around her. Dustpounce lacks a lot in battle skills, as she decided after her apprenticeship to focus more on improving her hunting. Other wet paws may do battle practice in their own time after sun-down but it wasn't really the area she felt she wanted to focus on. She can be quite passive and too agreeable, which is certainly a weakness but it does make her easy to talk to and she easily assimilates. Morticat

Warriors
H y e n a f a n g Hyenafang is a short sleek-furred, woody brown, lithe bodied tom-cat with pale green eyes and rather large ears that are positioned lower on his head than the average cat giving him an interesting look. Though he is thin he has a good set of muscles and sharp, raggedy claws that can easily tear through flesh. He is usually pretty quiet and keeps to himself but when he has a strong opinion about something he can be confrontational and judgmental, preferring to use physical force over verbal quarrel even with his own clan-mates. Hyenafang really believes he is something special and better than others, and simply can't understand how others might think they're an equal when he is supposedly so charming and quick to act bravely. Morticat S a n d s p l a s h Sandsplash is a she-cat that got the ripe side of the genetic gene pool. In terms of charisma, as far as looks are based, she's a perfect 10. This creamy she-cat has a light golden, pale color for her base pelt. Layered atop of it are light, honey colored stripes that dot along her flank weakly. She has medium length fur, not ideal for the devastating rays of the desert, so she prefers to hunt and patrol in the evenings, or early mornings. She has light orange eyes, and a long, ringed tail. Sandsplash has a lean build, well rounded in terms of strength, and agility. She isn't particularly wonderful at hunting, or fighting, in fact this she-cat is about as average as you can get. Where she stands out is her personality. This warrior is always first to jump into a fight. She is brash, quick to action, and doesn't tend to think things through. This, of course, can be a massive detriment when it comes to hunting, or battle tactics, all she'll tend to break the enemy line before even the signal is given. It can be infuriating, because the stubbornness of this she-cat is not to be trifled with. She abhors feeling lesser than anybody else, so even if it means constantly having to prove herself (even when there is nothing TO prove) she will go through bounds to make sure everyone knows to take her seriously. Fiery, would be a good definition for this cat. Ambitious, reckless, and insecure. Sandsplash only tries to act so tough because inside she knows that she's not what she tries so hard to appear as. Ask anyone around camp, and they'll surely remember who Sunpaw was. He was Sandsplash's sister, the two of them were inseparable. That's why his death came as a shock, and a grievance to the clan. It was Sandsplash's idea to ditch training that day and run to the oasis. Along the way, however, the young apprentices were cornered by a fierce cobra. Sandsplash failed to protect her brother, Sandsplash failed to race back to camp in time to try to find the medicine cat to stop the venom, she failed as a sibling. This is a burden she caries with her everywhere, it haunts her every choice. kanti C l o u d e d b l o s s o m Small of stature and sweet in nature, this young shecat is a pretty and charming young cat. But her personality doesn’t leave her the best at making friends. Whilst not the largest cat in the clan, she is swift footed and quick witted. A mute tortoiseshell, she carries the classic markings of a tortie, but diluted by a coat of greyish brown. But through this orange and white markings can be seen. Her eyes are a dark blueish grey colour. A kind cat at heart and loyal to the core, but she isn’t especially outgoing, preferring to keep herself to herself, which leads some to believe her to be rude or unkind. In spite of this, she is a very loyal cat whose morales centre themselves at every aspect of her day to day life. @velveteenwolf O s p r e y w h i s k e r Ospreywhisker is a quick-footed shecat with wide, greyish blue eyes. Her bicolor pelt is short and thin, with tufts growing between her toes to insulate against the heat. The majority of her pelt is white, with pale brown patches that darken around her right eye, ears, and tail. Ospreywhisker's build and features are compact, with a narrow chest, blunt claws, flexible shoulderblades, and oddly long tail; this equips her well when climbing and hunting, but isn't an asset for close-quarter combat. Relying heavily on technique and agility, this warrior has a knack for hunting; but is at best an average fighter. Ospreywhisker tends to play devil's advocate in group settings; she's quick to speak her truths and is skeptical of impulsive decisions. With a logical mindset, she likes to weigh all possible options before acting. Brash, arrogant and impetuous cats can get on her nerves. A normally unperturbed and even-tempered cat, with enough pressure she will snap. When this happens, her mind-to-mouth barrier fractures and can result in a tangent of anger, criticism, and spiteful comments. She will call a cat out if they negatively tread on her morals, but tends to avoid actively insulting an individual. Tekoa T u m b l e f o o t Tumblefoot is a short haired she-cat with cream fur and washed out sandy orange tabby like flecks and markings. Her eyes are a sea-greeny color with the left eye being a slight bit browner than the right. She stands at a medium-sized stature with sleek fur and a medium length tail. Tumblefoot is typically soft-spoken with a prideful attitude. While friendly to her clanmates, Tumblefoot dislikes asking for any help in any situation. Never wanting to be seen as lesser than her clanmates, Tumblefoot pushes herself as far as she can. Disregarding any offer for medical attention (unless she absolutely can not walk or function whatsoever). As a kit and apprentice, Tumblefoot was lied to often times by her family and even friends, leaving her with a distrustful attitude and lack of faith in any cat's promises. While she wishes to mother kits, Tumblefoot is afraid of close relationships, however, this doesn't pertain to only romantic ones, she even seems to keep her friends at a distance. Voidastral Apprentices
W h i t e p a w Whitepaw is a pale orange and white tabby she-cat with bright green eyes. She is a bit stocky with broad shoulders and a thick neck. She has got quite a snappy personality, often seen as the bossy and less considerate one, however she does not tend to do it intentionally and therefore is unaware of just how much her boisterous and judgmental attitude rubs off wrong on some of her clan-mates. Whitepaw is an exceptional burrow hunter, able to track prey through the desert holes with excellent results and tag-team them through the winding tunnels and snatch creatures out from their burrows with one or two swoops. She is certainly not a follower of the crowds and has no fear in voicing her opinions, making her often a choice for leadership positions which while she accepts, still finds anxiety in. Morticat

If you could link me to these images and make sure they are clear and able to be made into head-shots that would be great! kanti: Oh my goodness thank you so much this clan feels like my baby lol. Maskedshade - - - DuneClan Camp; Open; @tags The white and black tom known as DuneClan’s deputy had left his nest long before the sun had begun to rise. A restless mind and itching paws had lead the young tom to take a solo patrol to the oasis, generally to check things and stretch his legs. Always one to prefer his own company than share peace with another. But it was a habit he would have to grow out of soon enough now that he stood as deputy of his beloved clan. But Maskedshade wasnt all too sure he would ever get used to the feeling of ordering his clanmates around, StarClan only knew what he would do if he were privileged enough to ascend to the position of leader one day. Grimacing at the thought of becoming leader, for there was only one feasible manner in which that would happen and it involved the loss of the cat he considered to be among one of his closest friends Few as there might have been. StarClan willing that wont happen for a long time,, the tom cat assured himself firmly, not letting the fears flicker onto his expression. And with any luck by then he would feel much more ready for his role. Flicking his gaze across camp, twitching his ears forward in search of Jackalstar in order to give the findings of his patrol. Fortunately it had been a peaceful one, but he felt it was still worthy to mentio to the older tom. Cloudedblossom- - - DuneClan Camp; Open; @tags Morning light woke Cloudedblossom from her dreams all too early for her liking, had she been given her way she wouldn’t have woken up for another moon or so. Content to sleep away the rest of time as her late night patrol the day before had left her aching. Drooping her feathered tail across her nose, an attempt at shading her eyes from the blinding light of early morning on the desert. But to no avail, she was awake now, and she doubted her clanmates would be kind enough to catch a few more heartbeats of rest. Pulling herself from the warriors den with a content flick of her tail, blinking the sleep from her eyes and making every attempt to look more alert than she was currently feeling. For a moment she allowed her gaze to linger on the fresh kill pile, but finding none of its offerings especially appealing at the moment. I should probably get some hunting in before I take anything to eat, Cloudedblossom winced at the thought, she could think of few things she’d rather do less at that moment then leave the comfort of the camp to hunt. Settling down in the warm sand, the warrior began to slowly groom her grey and orange fur of the sand and dirt which had accumulated in its length the day before. Happy to work alone and in the peace of her own thoughts, she knew all too well it wouldn’t likely last all that long.

J a c k a l s t a r C a m p || A l o n e Being quite the early-bird nowadays especially because of his age that caused him to have more restless nights, the tom sat neat the entrance to the cave contemplating the day he and his clan-mates had ahead of him. The weather was really nothing different from a typical day; with the sun just beginning to unveil from the sandy hills the chill of the night was easing away and the heat was bringing warmth to the sand again. The night-time warriors, if one should want to call them that - Jackalstar preferred "wet paws" - had already crawled into their nests to sleep away the scorching heat of the day and the tom had heard a few cats stirring from their nests. Though he appreciated the wet paws taking their long journeys every night to train and to border the entire territory, that was as far as it went for the old-fashioned tom-cat. "I hope a few of them brought back some freshkill at least," he thought with mild displeasure. Jackalstar rose to his paws with a good, long stretch that he could feel in his bones and he quietly padded back in through the tunnel to the clearing of camp. Line shone through small cracks in the ceiling and eliminated the fresh kill pile that held three plump mice, and the warriors den. "Ah, so they did bring something back," he gave a small dip of his head to acknowledge it then glanced around camp for any awake faces. Soon he and his fellow deputy would need to organize a patrol. The new partnership had been smooth so far and Jackalstar had little doubts of Maskedshade's abilities to be strong and level-headed, but he had yet to feel completely reliant and comfortable with handing over DuneClan to another cat someday when he'd lost his last life.

Maskedshade - - - DuneClan Camp; Jackalstar; Morticat Hearing the pawsteps of his leader before he spotted the tom himself, the slender white tom turned his head to look back at the larger tom cat with a polite dip of his head. Lifting himself onto deft paws, the tom approached his leader with a lowered head before moving to settle himself comfortably beside the leader. His ears continuing to swivel and twitch at th sounds around camp, but his dark blue gaze fixed n the leader in front of him as proof that the tom cat had his full attention. “Good morning, Jackalstar,” Maskedshade’s greeting was a kind one considering his usually private and closed off personality, tail moving to wrap neatly around his black striped paws as he let out a comfortable sigh. “I trust you are well this morning?” He asked with a slight grin twitching at the edges of his lips. Ending his polite greetings with the abruptness the tom was somewhat known for, he got to the point quickly as was his nature. Not necessarily rude, but not being the owner of the best social skills either and hence he tended to come across as such. “I journeyed to the oasis,” he explained efficiently, lifting his paw to his tongue and then across his ear in an attempt to clean his fur. The snowy white of his pelt got dirty all too easily with life in the desert. “And am happy to announce that there appears to be no issues.”

O s p r e y w h i s k e r Ospreywhisker is a quick-footed shecat with wide, greyish blue eyes.

Ospreywhisker Leaving the cool confinements of the warrior's den, Ospreywhisker was greeted by a wave of parched heat. She basked in its touch, letting the sweltering temperature ripple over her. Even in the early hours of dawn, she could feel the desert sun's ferocity. Blinking sleep from the edges of her vision, the bicolor warrior observed camp with a quiet reverie. Soon it would be bustling with energy- at least, with cats who dared leave the dens during the daylight hours.
Ospreywhisker stretched her front paws out as far as they could reach, dipping low to the cooler sand beneath her. No, it would be a little while longer before it reached sunhigh's wrath. Hunting would be good at this hour, rodents ventured out around dawn and dusk. Giving her chestfur a few swift licks, the white shecat padded further from the dens. Jackelstar and Maskedshade caught her attention, but Ospreywhisker knew better than to disturb them. Settling on a slab of stone, she tapped her claws against its smooth surface as she internally debated her next move. I haven't visited the quarry in a while, maybe a few smaller snakes would be basking on the rocks. The fresh kill pile is filled, but a hare or rodent wouldn't do any harm, either. Flicking a tinted ear, Ospreywhisker regarded the camp once again, her mind clearing from slumber's cloudy grasp. The bicolor shecat rocked lightly on her paws, anticipating the rolling sand dunes and the critters they withheld just past the outskirts of camp.

T u m b l e f o o t Tumblefoot is a short haired she-cat with cream fur and washed out sandy orange tabby like flecks and markings.

J a c k a l s t a r C a m p || M a s k e d s h a d e He had no problem spotting out Maskedshade and returned a friendly nod, "And good morning to you," he replied in a steady tone, not giving anything away. He appreciated how his deputy was very matter-of-fact, as it helped gets things moving fast and without wasting time. "I'm doing quite alright. Have to say though, I could've use another wink of sleep," Jackalstar quipped back, shaking his head. He knew there was more serious business to get down to and he was proved right as his deputy's voice took a more serious tone. "Ah yes," he nodded, "It's good you went out there today". He furrowed his brows in thought of how at risk the oasis always was for being stolen by other predators - being the biggest, most lively and green area of the desert for miles it's no surprise that everyone wants it. "You haven't scented those hyenas near camp have you?" Jackalstar asked Maskedshade, a growl rumbling in his chest thinking about the stinky scoundrels. T h i s t l e t a i l O a s i s || A l o n e Burnt orange flashes of fur passed quickly through the trees, darting skillfully across and around obstacles. Thistletail felt very much alive with the cooler winds blowing through the fur on his neck as he dashed around at full speed. Soon the shrubbery became more sparse and the tom could smell the refreshing scents of the sweet oasis water and tiny warm-blooded creatures squeaking among themselves. "I sure hope there's no wild dogs out at the water today," he thought hopefully as the waters came into view and he slowed down to a trot then to a steady, slow walk. From a distance he could see two brown, unkempt looking pigs with their faces down deep in the water for a refreshing drink. They weren't so much of a threat to him as other animals bigger than the pigs might be, and there was nothing else in sight but a mouse that darted from shrub to shrub once in a while. Thistletail let out a small sigh of relief and padded out to the water's edge and watched the little bugs that danced on the surface.

Maskedshade - - - DuneClan Camp; Jackalstar; Morticat A frown of concern darkened the handsome tom’s expression, and his ears flicked back as a soft sigh slipped from his lips. Nose self consciously wrinkling as though the very word brought the foul taste to his nose and it made him shudder ever so slightly. “For now, it doesn’t appear as though they’ve ventured close enough,” the pale coated tom explained with a level tone. He too was skilled in not showing emotion, even if his facade was yet to become as strong as the leader’s was, Maskedshade was growing more apt in the task. “And StarClan willing, they wont be stupid enough to venture close to such a big group of cats.” Life was rarely that easy, but one could pray all the same that at least for the time being the clan would remain safe.

Tumblefoot // Camp - outside clearing
Tumblefoot had been making her rounds around the camp area. Roaming, waking up, and so on. She hadn't had much to do at the moment besides cleaning herself for the second time today. She'd already had some food and wasn't particularly needed anywhere, at least that she knew of. So she settles for anything but cleaning herself once more. Instead, she makes her way to the outside clearing to lounge and soak up some sun. Tumblefoot arrives at the clearing and she lies down enjoying some warmth. Not that she was cold, no, you can't truly be cold in a hot desert such as the one duneclan resides within.
