Shellpaw had gotten a late start this morning, however that wasn't quite unusual for the tom. He had never been necessarily "on top of" his duties as an apprentice. It wasn't an uncommon sight to find him snoring most of his mornings away in the apprentices den long after the other apprentices had vacated it. When he finally awoke on this morning, his jaws parted in a massive yawn, tongue curling. He got to his paws heavily and shook bits of moss out of his silky fawn pelt. Holding back the urge to break into another yawn, the tom ducked out of the dark den and into the harsh sunlight of camp.
The Siamese squinted against the sudden brightness, looking around blindly for his mentor, wondering what she had in store for him today. Hopefully she'll cut me some slack today... Shellpaw thought hopefully, beginning to daydream about all the ways he'd rather be spending his day than patrolling or training. Not paying attention to where his paws were taking him at this point, and still trying to adjust his eyes to the brightness of the morning, the apprentice walked square into a large, brown figure.
Startled out of his daydream, Shellpaw found himself knocked flat back on his haunches. Blinking up at the figure he had so ungracefully run into, he let out a nervous huff, beaming up at who happened to be his mentor. At least now he'd found her. "Morning, Shadefern!" He greeted brightly from behind a grin, the tom mildly embarrassed but more so entertained by the situation. "Come here often...?"

((I will! And hey nettle)) Adderpool came through the camp entrance, a small limp in his step. He carried a rabbit in his jaws, and he smelled of the moors. Quickly, the brown tabby laid the rabbit in the fresh-kill pile before laying down nearby. He casually cleaned his front paw, holding in hisses of pain and avoiding other cats’ gazes.

Shadefern meowed to the apprentice, whiskers twitching amusement as he had fallen down to the camp's floor just by bumping into her side. Her green eyes gazed at him with interest, but quickly turned to her usual one for her him. "And yes, I do come here, it's the StormClan camp after all." She purred a bit, helping Shellpaw up from fall. Shadefern flicked an ear, her eyes looking towards the camps entrance.
"You're late again, you know. But hopefully today's hunting will put you into top notch!" She lightly scolded to him, getting up from her paws and starting to walk, tail signaling for Shellpaw to follow her.

Honeyfur had been standing near the fresh kill pile when Adderpool returned from his hunt, intending to gather up prey to distribute between the elders and queens. The medicine cat eyed the warrior intently as he set down his rabbit, noticing the slight limp in his gait. He set down what he had had picked out in his jaws pack onto the pile, and approached the tom with a soft from on his flat face. "Adderpool." He prompted slowly, looking down at the warrior, with an inquisitive expression that seemed to ask Anything you want to tell me? Honeyfur's plumed tail swished softly behind him. "How did huntin' go?" He continued.

Adderpool froze when he heard Honeyfur’s voice, silently cringing. This was going to make things harder. He put his paw down quickly, without much thought, and winced as it hit the ground. “Oh, you know...” he mused as he gazed up at the medicine cat. “Running... catching things. Went really well.” He actually couldn’t bring himself to hunt anything else after he cut his paw, but he wasn’t about to say it.

"It is?" Shellpaw responded mockingly, a fake tone of shock in his voice and amazement written all over his face. His expression returned to his normal grin as his mentor helped him to his paws, and he shook the few specs of dust that clung to him from his coat. The apprentice followed her as she began towards the entrance, trailing behind the she-cat. Shadefern's mild scolding going completely in one ear and out the other. "Yeah, I know," He responded, only half listening. "But it's not, like, that big of a deal, right? Anyway, are we hunting alone? Or are we going with some of the other apprentices?" Shellpaw inquired, ears perking up as he suddenly became more engaged in the conversation. He picked up his pace a little to walk shoulder to shoulder with his mentor rather than behind her. The tom hoped silently that Beepaw might be joining them, so he could spend some time with the tom... His interest in Shadefern's words died out again as he began to daydream once more, this time about Beepaw, the apprentice still not fully awake.

Honeyfern nodded slowly, in a very controlled fashion, eyes still on the warrior. "Good, good..." He replied, his tone soft and drawn out. "Jus' a rabbit, then? Not 'ave much luck this mornin', or..?" The medicine cat prodded, a look of questioning across his wrinkled face, his head tilted heavily to the side. He took a seat near Adderpool, curling his tail around his paws as a small gesture to ensure he wasn't just making conversation while passing through, Honeyfur was on a mission in his mind at this point, and didn't plan on letting Adderpool shoo him away.

Soon you won't be getting more beauty sleep when we start going on patrols more often," Shadefern replied, catching onto her apprentice not paying attention. She gently nudged his side with her tail, hoping to get his attention back to her own words. "We're going alone today, more towards the Grand Oak Tree. I want you to try to catch a few birds. It may be Leaf-fall, but we stuck need to make sure that prey-pile is as full as possible." She meowed cheerfully, turning and heading past a tree in her way.

The apprentice heaved a sigh that was a little more dramatic than he had intended it to be, his ears going flat against the back of his head. "But I need my beauty sleep," He grumbled, shaking his head softly to clear it and try to focus more of Shadefern and the hunting they intended to do. Shellpaw's nostrils flared as he took in a deep breath, the chilly air burning his nose and succeeding in waking him up further. "Okay. That sounds like fun." He responded, looking around the forest and admiring the noise of the songbirds around them, feeling a little bad thinking about killing one of them in the near future. "I'm not sure I'm that great of a climber, really." Shellpaw commented warily. "Do you have any tips you could give me, Shadefern?"

Shadefern could her the amount of birds around in her ears, singing lively songs of morning time. Licking her lips she pointed with her tail up towards a tall, some-what slim tree. And a few branches up it was a small sparrow.
"There's one you try and get," She mewed quietly to Shellpaw. "When your first near the tree, it's best to spring up as far as possible so you won't have to climb as far to the nearest branch. And went your on a branch with the prey, make sure your paws are gripping onto the branch lightly so it won't sense you."

Doestep purred softly towards her mother's words. "I needed to hear that...But...Why did he leave?" She asked. Littlerose sighed and rested her head next to Doestep’s. “I’m not sure. He left the day after I told him I was expecting kits. Maybe he didn’t want kits, but he could have talked to me about it. Perhaps he realized he was growing up faster than he wanted, or decided he didn’t like Clan life anymore,” she mewed after a moment. When she was younger it was harder to talk about, but it had been so long it didn’t affect her now. But her kits, however... “He never told me why, though. We just found his empty nest that nest morning, and followed his scent past our borders.” The old queen licked Doestep’s cheek with a smile. “But we’ve done just fine without him, right?”

"Yeah...Of course we have been doing fine without him." She forced a smile onto her face as she lied to her mother. Littlerose continued grooming her daughter’s face, purring loudly. “It’s not my fault your face is so dirty,” she laughed between licks. When she decided to stop, she relaxed and pushed away the remains of the fish. “Where’s your sister?” she asked, swiping her paws over her ears a few times to clean them.

Shellpaw halted at his mentors command, surveying his surroundings to orient himself within their territory. He inhaled a deep breath through parted jaws, scenting the air. The tom admired the plentiful songbirds and their joyful noise, eyes shifting silently sideways to observe Shadefern when she spoke. His gaze followed her tail tip to the tree she had selected, and likewise, the prey. The tom said nothing in return to his mentors coaching, but merely nodding his understanding.
The Siamese dropped low into a crouch, slinking his way silently towards the trunk, and around the back of where the bird sat perched. Once he was near enough, Shellpaw bunched his haunches and launched himself into the air. Not the most powerful of jumpers, the apprentice landed a little lower than he would have liked. Claws digging deeply into the trunk to steady himself, the tom hoisted himself a few extra tail lengths up the trunk with great difficulty. Forelegs trembling, he managed to sling himself onto one of the lower branches, trying to catch his breath silently as he steadied himself for further ascent, looking to Shadefern for approval or reassurance as he could tell he wasn't exactly doing amazing.

The Selkirk struggled to hold back an eyeroll as he watched Adderpool lick at his pad, getting, with admittedly a little difficulty, to his paws. "Starclan's sake, Adderpool," He huffed, fur fluffing up in frustration, the tom suddenly losing his patience, and very quickly. "My den, now!" He hissed under his breath, giving the tom a stern look like a disappointed parent, and lumbering off and into the medicine cat den, his belly swaying underneath him as he walked.

Adderpool sighed and made a face. “Fine,” he huffed, then slowly got to his paws and limped behind Honeyfur. He hated having to get injuries treated, because then he’d be confined to camp, and being bored was the worst torture for him. He’d have to do camp chores like apprentices do. When they got to the medicine den, the brown tabby plopped in front of Honeyfur and held out his paw. A deep cut split his pad down the middle, and was crusted with dirt and dried blood.

Lionpaw huffed. “Fine, fine,” she mewed, but didn’t let this damper her mood. If this was how she’ll become a warrior, then that’s what she’ll do! They finally arrived at the great oak, and Lionpaw stared up its huge trunk with wide eyes. She stepped closer to it, then looked over her shoulder at Glaremask. “What do I do?” she asked. @nettles

((adderpool you stubborn idiot)) Honeyfur was pacing inside of his den restlessly, muttering something inaudible under his breath, his normal accent even heavier than usual in his frustration. He turned to watch as Adderpool followed him into the den, gesturing with his tail for him to take a seat in a freshly made moss nest near the wall. "Sit, sit." The tom insisted over his shoulder as he took off to his herb store, busying himself as he rifled through his supply. Bits of dust and plant flew out behind the tom as he hunted, returning with a mouth full of herbs to the warrior who had his paw held out. The medicine cat inspected the cut closely, turning it from side to side with a gentle, tufted paw. He shook his head some more as he pressed water soaked moss to the cut, trying to wash the caked blood and dirt out of it. "I don't know why all of y'all warriors is so stubborn. Mouse brained, the lot of you." He muttered. "All too proud to ask for help... make me darn near scold you in front of the entire clan, ye did..." Honeyfur continued, mostly to himself more than anything.

The cool water on Adderpool’s pad made his tense body relax already, but his ear flicked with annoyance at Honeyfur’s grumbling. “I’m sure it would have healed on its own eventually...” he muttered, looking away from the medicine cat’s busy paws. Perhaps if he had left it alone long enough it would have closed up... but it probably would’ve become infected. The strong scent of herbs spiked his anxiety, but he kept it inside and sat as still as possible.
