Instead of acting at least somewhat professional, Kosta was standing on top of his desk. Shifted into a goat. How someone gave him a job will continue to confuse anyone who knew him. Especially since it seemed like he was eating a stack of papers. For the record, he was not actually eating the paper, simply holding it within his mouth. Even though he was a grown adult, he had to act like a kid sometimes. Teachers had to stay with the newest treads, but he was pretty sure that the student who had mentioned that everyone was shredding their homework meant something different.
A loud “Thwack!” came from the door, most likely from someone outside falling into it.
This loud sound had scared Kosta. Rather than shift back onto two legs and investigate, he began to eat nervously. It was only until he had swallowed that he realized his mistake. This was the only hard copy of his syllabus that he had left. Making a rather shreak-ish “Bleeeaaatt!” Kosta spit out the rest of the paper.
He switched back to opposable thumbs, trying to decrease the damage to his syllabus in a panic. He couldn’t disappoint his students by forgetting his lesson plans. The poor kids wouldn’t have anything to do. They would surely hate to simply watch a movie went they could, instead, learn about history.
Mira was not having a good day. In fact, her day had started off bad and got worse from there. Her alarm hadn’t gone off, her laundry hadn’t dried completely, and her godfather forgot about taking her to work.
Without waking up early enough, she had been forced to throw her hair into a messy bun with strands falling out hazardously. Her clothes were sticking to her body due to their dampness, making her itchy. Not to mention, the only thing in her system was her coffee with three shots of espresso.
Mira couldn’t stop her hand subtly shaking from too much caffeine. She reshelved books tediously, keeping her ears perked for anyone coming. If she missed saying “Welcome to Buy-A-Book, can I help with anything?” in her false, high pitched customer service voice, she would die.
Her reputation with the customers was too important to ruin just because she had a bad day. Happy people were usually nice, it didn’t make sense to ruin their day just because her’s had started off poorly. Plus, she couldn’t afford to lose her job if her boss got too many complaints about her.
Akari kept quiet, for once in her life. She didn’t want anyone knowing that she was up in the tree. If her sister found out that she was napping at the park again, she would be grounded. Leon never listened to her side of the story, just Mira’s judgements. Plus, neither thought letting a young girl roam around was a good idea.
What they didn’t know couldn’t hurt them.
It wasn’t that Akari liked to be alone, on the contrary, she had always been a people person. She just felt more herself when she was free to do as she pleased. Her independence was highly important. Conformity was weak and she was anything but. So, against her family’s wishes, she would keep spending time up trees and doing whatever we wanted to.
The Park was definitely one of her favorite spots. It had a lot of trees, and ever since she had been banned from going into the forest, she tried to come here as often as possible. Akari wouldn’t try to fight Leon and Mira on the forest. They were right to think it as dangerous. She couldn’t go on life threatening adventures yet.
One day, she would explore the thick woods. Just, after her sister moved out and when Leon had a busy day. Akari didn’t want to worry anyone. She hummed to herself, needlessly checking the time. She still had an hour to get home, but she was starting to get bored. If she left for home, she could probably make her sister happy by making dinner.
So, with nothing better to do, Akari quickly made her way back to the lower branches and dropped down from the tree. She landed with practiced ease. Cats do always land on their feet, after all.

Ivory Lince iberian lynx shifter
It always pained the Iberian Lynx hybrid when the thick forest and wild meadows gave way to towering buildings and confusing highways.
The city had always been one of Ivory’s least favorite things. There had never been a time in her life where she felt compelled to stay in the city, to revel in the blinding lights, to socialize with the elite. She had never once wanted to make a life here, but living in the city was cheaper than going out and buying a place with lots of land and lots of solitude. Finding a job was also easier in the city, which was one reason why she even stayed there in the first place. With the money she was making from her job - she worked at a sporting retail store and then at a camp in the summer - she was saving up to eventually get the heck out of the city and live away from it all, to get out and to just be free. Ivory wasn't making boat loads of money, but she had enough to support herself and then put enough to the side for saving. It also helped that she wasn't in this endeavor alone. Her interest and passions were shared by the one person she cared the most about that wasn't blood family. Levi Rue.
The two had met at the summer camp some years back. They had naturally hit it off despite some social awkwardness that had come from Levi, and it wasn't long before they grew close and became a bit more than just friends. Before the end of the summer the two had been reluctant to part ways, and after some urging from campers and co-workers alike, the two had made the decision to move in together. Some would have criticized their choice to have happened too fast, but years later here they were, still as happy with one another as ever. And to be fairly honest, Ivory had been reluctant to even think about moving in with Levi at first; however, she had eventually decided that maybe it was time to go out on her own - or rather, go out with somebody she cared deeply about. Ivory had not once regretted her decision.
Currently the two had just returned from a weekend trip out in the woods. Whenever they could the young couple would leave the city behind and go out into the woods. There they would rent a cabin, or even sometimes camp the old school way, and simply enjoy the wonders of nature. Ivory would even get to truly enjoy her ability as a shifter and quite literally unleash the lynx that she was. It was always amazing, a world of peace compared to the land of chaos that was the city.
Ivory was still unpacking a few of her things, mostly just some spare clothes she took in case anything happened, and already she longed to head back out of the city. The loud noises always made her want to pull her ears back against her head and the stench of too many humans - hybrid or not - always made her want to wrinkle her nose in disgust. She could not wait to get out of this place.
This desire was apparent on her face and even by the way she walked as she stepped into the apartment she shared with her boyfriend. Compared to the openness of the woods this was like a small cage that she was trapped inside. A low sigh escaped the feline hybrid. ”I can't wait for the day where we leave this place and never come back.” Even if Ivory had said that phrase only a million times they still rang as true as anything she could have ever said.

Malakai "Kai" Amber Wolff Type 3 hybrid; Arctic wolf/feles wolf/iguana
Eventually, Malakai and Riley decided they'd head over to the museum for a couple hours, before just wandering the mall until they got bored. And of course, the two didn't get bored until they'd looked over every street, even though they'd seen it all before. Still, whether they've seen it before or not, they had a wonderful time regardless. After about 5 hours of walking and looking around the shops, the two decided to head over to one of their houses to relax, have something to eat and watch TV. So, after a quick toss up, they figured that Riley's house would best option, so they went there. The walk there wasn't too long, about half an hour, and that included the stop they made to get some KFC, which was actually a favourite for both of them.
Once they had arrived, they had gone in and set up a movie to watch. Some sort of action romance that they hadn't seen before. The movie itself wasn't too important, not to Kai at least. He really just wanted a reason to spend more time with Riley, so as long as they enjoyed it, it could be anything to him. So that was how they were, setting the food up on the coffee table in front of them so they could grab something to eat as they pleased. It was nice to be doing this again. Kai and Riley didn't get to do this too often, just watch a movie with each other. It wasn't exactly rare, no, but it wasn't exactly common either, so it was nice.
Soon enough they were both full, and so they sat back to enjoy the rest of the movie, slowly drawing close to each other. In a moment of realisation, Malakai brought his eyes away from the movie to look down at Riley. It seemed over the course of the movie, she had scooted closer him him, and was now leaning against his body, her head resting on his shoulder. Kai's arm had also moved, now resting around her shoulders as well. Smiling warmly, the man chuckled. "Look at us, we're like a little couple," he said, gently squeezing her shoulder.

Tyse Crux human
There probably wasn't many people out there who said they enjoyed college for its classes and tedious study rituals. Most would say they preferred the parties or campus events or being able to hang out with friends, and that was okay to some extent, but for Tyse Crux he loved college for the knowledge, for the studying, for the homework. He had always been a studious kid from the moment he could remember, always sticking his nose in a book whether it be fiction or nonfiction. He loved sitting down and going over his homework, working out the problems with relative ease. The easy questions did bore him at times, though. Tyse much rather enjoyed the difficult problems, the questions that made him stop and think. He wanted to be challenged, wanted to sit there with a pencil in his mouth as he chewed on it in thought. That's what he loved. And that was why he loved college. Not only did he have freedom here, but he had challenging classes and classes that were oriented toward his particular interests. No longer did have to be assigned classes, no, he could pick and choose what intrigued him the most. Sure, there were still those pesky required courses at the core of the education, but those didn't worry him that much. He could do those English and math classes rather simply, get them out of the way so he could make room for more of the classes he enjoyed - history and, his favorite and passion, anthropology.
Currently that was what the simple human was up to. He was deep into a study session about the various native cultures in the Americas. While it was all interesting, and he was learning all about some very interesting things, Tyse had always found his true passion in the culture of Australia and its people, especially the native population. That interest was what led him to discover his passion as anthropology, what kept him going and what made him eager to pass his classes and graduate without a doubt in his mind that he deserved his diploma. For somebody just in his first year of college he had quite a life plan already. A plan that he was going to see through.
Earlier Tyse had attempted to study in one of the college's various study rooms, but he had found it to be too quiet. The human had a need for some background sounds or he would become fidgety and distracted. So he had gathered his notes, pen, and paper and went to a local hotspot - The Hummingbird Cafe. There he could order a coffee or smoothie and have the subtle noises of people talking in the background. And he didn't have to worry about anything potentially spilling on his notes. They were so precious to him that he actually laminated his notes. Yeah, Tyse was an interesting kid.
After receiving his iced coffee from a rather friendly and chipper gerbil hybrid, Tyse sat himself down at a booth near the cafe’s doors. He took a few sips of his drink before opening his notes and diving deep into the world of culture, finally at ease with his surroundings.

Clairvoyance Walters spotted genet
She honestly couldn't remember the last time she had gone out to the park. It had probably been when Pascal was but a young girl, back before...everything happened. Back when she could still welcome her wife with a happy smile when the squirrel hybrid came home, or back when the entire family, her, Pascal, and Annora could relax on Saturday mornings with cartoons on the TV and a bowl of cereal in front of them. That had been years ago. Their daughter had been fairly young when Annora was murdered, slaughtered like some lesser creature. That had been the day that everything changed for Clairvoyance. She had been strong in front of Pascal, had held back the torrent of choking tears that wanted to be released so badly. But she had made sure her daughter was safe before letting her own feelings get the best of her. Even through her crippling grief the spotted genet hybrid had made sure to keep her an Annora’s daughter free from danger. In her mind that had meant laying low for some time, to go out only when absolutely necessary. Not that Clair had banned Pascal from leaving the house or anything, she didn't want the squirrel hybrid to feel like she was trapped in her own home, but she had took as many reasonable precautions as she could with her daughter.
Just recently had the middle aged woman allowed herself longer stays out in public. Over the years that she had been on the down low she had perhaps missed the park the most. It had always been a source of inspiration for the hybrid woman what with its trees and grass and just overall nature. Living in a city had always left something to desire, and within Clair that was the simple things like the trees and grass or the gentle sounds of bugs moving along in the grass or songbirds high in the trees, rustling the leaves with soft movements of their wings. While the genet would never leave the city - she had too many fond memories of the place despite the terrible ones that also plagued her mind - she couldn't deny the very faint longing for a life outside the noise and bustle of this place. But that was enough. She shouldn't let herself dwell on anything other than the reason for why she came out here in the first place.
Clairvoyance had always been something of an artist. She had never flaunted her skills off or anything and had never deemed herself a good artist. She simply drew to draw, it was a stress relieving activity for her.
With nimble fingers the hybrid opened up her sketchbook, flipping through a few pages before getting to an empty one. She flipped through a sketch she had done of Annora years ago and among the other pages were sketches and drawings of Eurasian red squirrels. That was mostly all she would draw, or all she had drawn since she had met the love of her life. She had never thought squirrels would be so important in her life, but here she was.
Even now she was starting to sketch out the basic shapes of a squirrel when something caught her attention. The woman’s ears swiveled around on her head as they picked up the sound of something much heavier than a squirrel in a tree. With a questioning glance the genet turned, tail flicking in surprise when she spotted a young girl hybrid that must have just climbed out of the nearby tree. Clair took a moment to look around, and after seeing nobody around that looked like parents to the young girl, she called out in her gentle voice, ”Hello there. I didn't see you up in the tree earlier. Are you alone?” Coming from anybody else the question could have been seen as creepy, but coming from Clairvoyance the question was a simple one, a simple inquiry coming from a very motherly woman that was worried the young girl was out on her own. No telling what could befall a little girl all on her lonesome, and if Clair could do anything about it, she would make sure the hybrid child was safe and sound.

Rory Hayes
It's true that Rory didn't have super short hair. It definitely wasn't long either. It was somewhere in the middle, just enough to give it a little fluff. As he thought about it, he ran his fingers through the hair, enjoying the soft feeling of his thick and fluffy hair. He leaned forward, eyes open wide and locked onto Rommy's face as if desperate to hear her opinion. It was as if t was a matter of life and death for the monkey boy. Maybe it was... He didn't focus much on his looks, but he definitely enjoyed his hair. It may be stupid, but that's how Rory's mind worked.
Rory let his mind wander to the possibilities. While he didn't want hair long enough to braid (and he couldn't picture that on him even if he did want it), he knew that a little longer wouldn't hurt. After all, some guys looked neat with slightly longer hair like he was imagining. Maybe he'd look good too! Or cool, at least. Rory wasn't exactly considered 'cool' most of the time. He really didn't mind that. Sure, the title of being 'cool' would be nice, but he was also happy to just have someone that cared about him and loved him despite all his flaws. Someone like Rommy. He was, once again, thankful for his best friend. She put him up with him and all of his stupid ideas and his limitless energy. The best part was that she actually seemed to enjoy it!
When Rommy commented on his hair being even fluffier, Rory grinned. "Fluffy hair is good," he said with a serious nod. "I'll have the fluffiest hair in the city. And you can be the best friend of the guy with the fluffiest hair in the city," he said with a grin. It seemed like a great idea to him and his eyes sparkled with excitement. Of course, when were his eyes not sparkling with excitement? He put his heart into everything he did. "A fluffier Rory Hayes..." he repeated. Wow. That definitely sounded like a world he wanted to live in. When she mentioned Rudolph Springsteen, he suddenly realized he shouldn't have broken character. What if the Great Endrick was hiding out around here? He looked for his new partner's evil brother.
Now back to the important issue. Endrick. He nodded seriously at Rommy's words. "A fight. The food won't be able to physically fight but it will nourish us. Or we could poison it and let Endrick eat..." He knew they couldn't actually poison Endelon, but they could put something in the food to mess with him. A bunch of hot sauce? Lemon juice? There had to be something... "But I'm good at fighting!" He flexed his muscles for her, lifting up his skinny arms. While he was trying to show off his strength, there wasn't much muscle at all. He laughed and let his arms flop onto the table. "Either way, Endrick won't know what hit him when he tries to take our food!" he said. He was impressed by Rommy's evil laugh and shared one of his own. It wasn't very good and had definitely attracted more stares, but he didn't care. It was well known at this point that Rory didn't care about people staring at him.
Rory was fully out of his seat at this point, his elbows balancing on the table and his chin resting in his hands as he listened to her talk about their enemy and their mission. "Endrick doesn't get himself involved in the small details. He's the kind to swoop in and steal once everyone else has done the dirty work. Quite an annoying man. Some might even consider him... well, mean. It's our job to take down this... this..." he hesitated as he tried to think of a good word. "This rat!" he finished, practically shouting the last word which caused a few people to search the ground in concern as if looking for the rodent that Rory had mentioned.
Rory nodded as he listened to Rommy. "That sounds like a good idea. Two heads is better than one... wait. No. Two heads are better than one. I'm not the best with grammar," he said with a shrug. Then he listened to her food suggestions and nodded. "Well, Mac and cheese or hamburgers are also a good choi-" he cut himself off, his eyes widening. "Ooooooooooooh. Spaghetti tacos with some melted cheese on top! It combines spaghetti, tacos, and grilled cheese!" he said. While most adults would say that that sounds absolutely disgusting, Rory was actually excited for the idea.
"And marshmallows!" The boy liked his marshmallows.

Levi Rue
Levi hated the city. It wasn't even a dislike for the city. It was a deep hatred of every part of it. It was crowded and loud and confusing and it smelled bad and everyone seemed to be in a hurry.
He'd grown up in the middle of nowhere. They'd had a nice little house on the lake with a little farm. Some cows. Chickens. Horses. Goats. Dogs. Cats. There was even that time that he'd taken in an injured squirrel and brought it back to life. Dewey hadn't wanted to leave him so Levi had taken in the squirrel as his own pet. The best part had been the lack of people and the lack of noise. Days were long and Levi had gotten used to the hard work of farm life. When he wasn't taking care of the animals or crops, he was fishing or hunting or playing around with the ATVs. He couldn't do any of that.
They couldn't even have a little farm in their apartment.
These weekend trips were a necessity for Levi. He didn't do well being cooped up in the city and he needed an escape sometimes. If that escape came in the form of literally escaping the city, he was perfectly happy. He just wished they could permanently escape the city. One day, they would. Until then, he'd just have to live with occasionally escaping the cold concrete clutches of the tall buildings and endless traffic. One day they'd get out of here. Levi had promised Ivory that and he didn't like to break his promises.
He thought for a moment about his lynx girlfriend. Honestly, it was a miracle that they'd met through summer camp. He couldn't see anyone else putting up with his lack of people skills and he didn't know how he'd manage with a girl that wanted to stay in the city or just didn't want to move out to the middle of nowhere with him. They saw a lot of each other - camp, home, and even at the store they both worked at - but Levi hadn't seen many issues pop up between the two of them. Not even with how quickly they'd moved in together.
He was extremely thankful for that.
Levi had taken a few trips to get up to their apartment with his bag, fishing pole, and any other items he'd brought along with them, but he definitely hadn't taken long to unpack. Now, he sat on the bed as he watched Ivory unpack her own clothes, a small amused smile at her words.
"That day will come soon enough," he promised. Hopefully. He doubted it would actually come quickly, but that didn't stop him from saying it. He stood up and took a few steps forward, wrapping his arms around her body from behind. "But until then, we have each other," he reminded her. He finally let go of her and sighed before sitting back on the bed.
"I've been looking for some land for sale out... there..." he waved his hand in the general direction of outside the city. "It'll be a bit until we can afford it, but I think we should save up to get something decent instead of the first bit of land we can afford." He'd been looking a lot lately at ways to move out, but the final answer is that they really didn't have enough to move out and still be financially good for long.
He wanted to have a farm somewhere, just like he did growing up. He wanted to have plenty of animals and he wanted to go fishing with Ivory every weekend. It was a dream. One he hadn't achieved yet, but that he would achieve.
"Now, how about we enjoy the rest of the day before we're forced to take part in city life again tomorrow?" he suggested with a small smirk. There was so much they could do just in their apartment. Cool. Play board games. Watch a movie. If they wanted, they could even pretend they were still in the cabin they'd rented this weekend. After all, their apartment was decorated to have a very rustic feel to it, though even Levi would admit that he knew guests sometimes felt uncomfortable in the apartment.
Good. That was just less of a reason to invite anyone over. He'd rather go to their peoples houses then his own. Less cooking and cleaning. Of course, if Levi had his way, he wouldn't have to talk to like anyone. But nooooo... Ivory was a mature adult and actually interacted with people better than he did. He wasn't complaining. It just meant she had to deal with the difficult people while he was behind her for loving (and silent) support.

Pluto Rokkett Type 1 Shifter (ferret)
Sure this wasn’t Pluto’s favorite way of getting what she needed but it worked and that was good enough for her. So the girl - still as a ferret - had been set on climbing all the way up this strange homeless man’s face and stealing the eel right out from under him. Or at least, that had been the plan, however during their little tussle the man had tumbled right into the water, taking poor Pluto with him.
With a splash the small ferret hit the water and instantly began to panic, she struggled underneath the harsh waves of the sea, gasping for breath despite how utterly useless that was given that she was under water. However eventually some kind of thought finally came to her and as if a lightbulb had gone off right above her furry little head, the girl began to put her new plan onto action as she shifted from ferret to human.
The process was painless and could be done quite quickly. It was also quite helpful to have her clothes shift with her so she didn’t emerge from the depths of the sea as some random naked temptress arising from her watery kingdom or something lame like that.
Soon enough there wasn’t a ferret in the water at all, but rather a small girl that couldn’t be any older than eighteen as she burst through the water and scrambled back up to the docks, hair wet and sticking to her forehead as she crawled her way back to the surface, finally reaching it just in time to pull the rest of her body out. Now, what once was a ferret out for an eel was replaced by a ferret hybrid that just seemed wet, cold, and greatly annoyed at this point.
Pluto let out a grumble of annoyance as she took her soaking wet body to the edge of the docks to glare down at the man she had been fighting with before. ”Hey stupid! Nice fall, now we’re both soaking wet and look like idiots,” she spat out angrily, hands on her hips as she glared down towards him. The nerve of this man...it was possible Pluto still wasn’t in one of her better moods. Certainly not after all of that.

Cipher Magnus Human
”Blackbird singing in the dead of night-” A soft melody came from inside the office that belonged to Cipher Magnus. It was an old song, well over one hundred years old, however it was a classic and one of Cipher’s personal favorites. ”Take these broken wings and learn to fly...” His quiet singing was interrupted by a soft knock on the door. The man sighed, leaning back in his chair, turning down the volume to his music. ”Come in,” he called out to whoever was at the door. Whoever it was better have a good reason for interrupting him right now. Slowly the door began to creek open as a man with a mess of dirty blond hair entered the office. The room was dark, the only light coming from the small amounts of sunshine that peaked through the dark curtains.
”Sir.”
Cipher let out another small sigh as he turned around in his chair to see who had entered. Lincoln Johnson. Cipher leaned forward on his desk, placing his arms crossed down on it as he looked at the blind man. ”Johnson. I hope you have a reason for interrupting me, why are you here?” He asked, brow raised as he looked the young man over.
Lincoln hesitated for a moment, as if unsure whether or not he should actually speak up. However soon enough he swallowed down any nerves he might’ve had and continued. ”It’s Yan, sir. She’s here,” he explained rather simply, getting right to the point.
A small smirk quirked his lips upward as Cipher leaned back in his chair again. ”Is her little cat and ferret with her?” He had been meaning to talk to those three. After all, their time was nearly up and Cipher really did hate to run out of time.
Lincoln shook his head. ”It’s just Yan today. Should I send her in?” He asked and Cipher nodded, flicking his hand back.
”Yes. Bring her to me, I need to talk to her anyways,” Cipher ordered and quickly Lincoln turned to leave. Cipher stayed where he was as the door to his office closed and once again his room was engulfed into darkness. Cipher kicked his feet up onto his desk, the slow going lyrics to his music drifting through the air of the room. ”All your life, you have only been waiting for this moment to arrive...” Cipher sang along quietly as he waited for the hybrid girl to show up.

Echo Atlas Type 2 Hybrid (malayan tiger/harpy eagle)
Having not been far behind the type three hybrid, Echo had taken to the air in order to reach their suspect even faster. Her plan was to catch him off guard further along and take this fight into the air - people were always far less eager to continue a fight once Echo had them dangling a couple of feet in the air - but it seemed as if her fellow officer had other plans and already Taeliyah had taken the crook down.
So, folding her wings back, the tiger-eagle dove to the ground, landing next to Taeliyah with a thump as she ruffled her feathers slightly until her wings were placed neatly on her back. The feathers on her head also fluffed up for a bit as she moved to get a closer look at the suspect. He seemed to be some sort of porcupine hybrid with all those needles poking out of his skin.
Doing a quick search, Echo pulled out the bag of stolen goods that the now unconscious man still had on him. She opened it up, looking inside for a moment. ”Watches by the look of it. A lot of watches.” A good thing to steal if you were going to do that. All of these watches were valuable enough on their own, but selling a whole bag of them would be able to make quite a bit of easy money for anyone. Especially a crook such as him. ”Let’s take him in. We can do a background check on him, with any luck he might be connected to those gangs running around here.”
It was no secret that the city did have a problem with criminal activity, especially involving the local gangs in the area. Still though, despite knowing they existed it had been nearly impossible to get the upper hand on any of them. It might be hopeful thinking, but if this guy could give them a lead on any of the gangs in the area, Echo would take it.

Ranger Barslim Type 2 Shifter (golden border retriever/australian shepherd)
Ranger tilted his head to the side as he listened to Talulah guess what the movie had been about. Well that was oddly specific, and why Kimberly? If Ranger was going to change his name to anything it would be a lot more manly than Kimberly. Maybe something like...Somesh. That sounded like a manly name...Though he vaguely remembered that name from somewhere and he was pretty sure it was from that strip club so maybe not. What was another manly name he could think of? Hal. Now that was a man’s name. A name fit for a swashbuckling buccaneer...but Ranger wasn’t a pirate, was he? Nope, he was a modern day cowboy.
Or you know, a rancher if you wanted the boring - and more accurate - term. But was that really the point here? No, no it was not. He was looking for a manly name here. What was another manly name? Eric maybe...or was that too pretty-boyish? What about Camp? That sounded like a good manly name, or Monty could work as well. Or maybe even Kyra. Though that sounded more like it belonged to some sort of majestic classy guy or something, and once again that wasn’t Ranger.
Ranger let out a sigh and a small whine. None of those names really fit him, did they? He’d say something like Ace, since his brother was pretty darn manly. Tall and muscular with that scruff that Ranger could never quite pull off. Though he liked to think that he was plenty manly just the way he was. After all, you couldn’t get much more many than Ranger, now could you? The answer was obviously no. Ranger was the manliest of them all. Even if he watched chick flicks un-ironically or enjoyed bubble baths. Or okay, he wasn’t a giant like his brother or even his father...Or his sister. But Ranger wasn’t short for a guy...probably, he was a little short. But he was still plenty manly and he would fight anyone that said otherwise.
Unless they were scary, then they could put him in a dress and call him a princess.
Looking back to Talulah, Ranger smiled and shook his head. ”That’s a good guess, but no. This movie was about these two friends that had known each other their whole lives through their parents. The guy was a bit of a player, but he and the girl ended up together and settled down n’had over twenty kids. It was really something,” Ranger explained with a small shake of his head.
Twenty kids. Now that was way too many and that was coming from someone that genuinely liked kids. He wanted a couple when he was older, maybe around four. But twenty or more? Now you’d have to be plum tucking crazy to have that many.
When food was brought up, Ranger instantly perked back up, tilting his head to the side as he looked down at Talulah’s food, his tail beginning to wag behind him as his ears perked upwards. ”Really? You’d let me have some of it? I don’t wanna take any...it is your food an’ all, but it sure does look mighty tasty,” Ranger said, eyes locking down on the food he had been offered as he struggled to contain his dog like urges to reach out and gobble it all up. Come on Ranger, have some manners, why don’t you?

Jemima Skarovski Type 1 Hybrid (sifaka lemur)
As soon as the topic of their ongoing projects was over, Jemima instantly relaxed as she slouched back into the chair, her tail seemed to finally settle down from moving around so much and instead just curled down on the floor behind her. ”Busy,” she explained, smiling over at her husband with a look rarely shared with others. Jemima wasn’t much of a fun person to be around. She knew she could be considered a little stuck up, or stiff. More often than not the workers in the lab had accused her of being a stick in the mud just for trying to keep things in order.
However for her husband or her daughter, Jemima could melt completely. It was a rare sight to see in the work place, as she was much more naturally relaxed at home, but for moments like this when it was just her and Maynard, just the two of them alone together without some work thing hanging over their heads, Jemima could allow herself a few moments to relax and perhaps even be a little playful.
”I’ve had to move all over the labs today to check in with all of our teams, it’s been a busy morning but I think we’re doing quite well for the day,” Jemima continued, moving her tail up to wave around in the air as she leaned forward a little, smiling over at Maynard. ”What about you?” She questioned her husband, lightly poking him with the very tip of her brown furry lemur tail. ”How’s you day been so far?” Jemima had left earlier in the day than Maynard had, as she had quite a bit she had wanted to get done today, so it would be nice to know how her husband was doing on this busy morning as well.

Nero Marley Type 1 Hybrid (cat)
Nero stood there for a moment or so as he looked at Dakota. He was a handsome panther hybrid, but attraction rarely came into play for Nero when it came down to acting around others or even trusting them. He seemed alright, but even still, Nero was a little on guard. He shuffled his feet for a few moments, shrugging a little before he managed to actually get an answer out. ”Oh...um, I was just...thinking,” he explained weakly. It wasn’t a lie, but it certainly wasn’t the entire truth. Though Nero didn’t have any plans of filling Dakota in on everything he was currently dealing with.
After all, it was generally not a good idea to confess to working for the biggest mafia boss around and losing so much of his money that even five years later, Nero was still trying to pay it off after roping even more people into his mess. He had already gotten Pluto and Yan into trouble thanks to his problems with Cipher, the last thing he wanted to do was drag in another poor soul for Cipher to use against him. He already had Pluto and Yan to worry about after all.
”I guess I was just not really paying attention,” Nero confessed, pressing his cat like ears back as he eyed the ground for a few moments before looking back up at him. ”What about you?” He asked Dakota. ”What are you doing out and about today? I hope I didn’t make you late for anything...” That would be bad on his part. He would get yelled at for sure, and he would deserve it. He was just a no good street cat, he wouldn’t hold anything against the panther hybrid if he was somehow offended by Nero.
Heck, even Nero’s rather plain appearance was probably offensive somehow or another.

Riley Capps
Riley definitely enjoyed her time with Malakai. Yes, they'd done this before. The mall and museum were two of their favorite spots. Was anything boring with Malakai? It was a question that she had asked herself multiple times before. It seemed as though Riley couldn't have a bad day when she was hanging out with Malakai, even if they were doing boring stuff like museums and the mall that they've done a hundred times before. He managed to make it interesting each and every time and he seemed just as interested in her.
Though she enjoyed it, she also couldn't not think of the fact that she wanted to finally admit her feelings to Malakai. She wanted to, but she didn't know if she would. It was a terrifying idea. Yes, she liked her friend, but that was the problem. She didn't want to lose him if things went wrong.
After making the choice to go to her place and setting up their meal on the table in front of them, Riley dug through the pile of movies before picking some stupid one that looked mildly interesting. She'd then climbed on the couch and began eating, occasionally making a joke or nudging Kai with her shoulder.
Once she was full, she'd brought her legs up underneath her and curled up closer to Malakai. Her head came go rest on his shoulder and she felt his arm around her shoulders. She hadn't even paid much attention to the position they were in as she focused on the movie.
When Kai spoke, she slid her eyes away from the screen to look up at him, her eyes widening a bit as he made his comment. Then she couldn't seem to have control over her mouth anymore as she blurted out what had been on her mind all day. "I like you, Kai. Like like like," she said, her face heating up as she blushed.
No.
No way.
Had she seriously just said that? "Excuse me," Riley mumbled, avoiding his eyes as she lifted his arm from around her shoulders and then disappeared into her bedroom, locking the door behind her. With a locked door safely between her and Kai, Riley face planted into her pillow and groaned.
Why had she just done that?

Jex Carter
Oh, Jex was humble alright. Not. In fact, he was far from the word. Yes, he might be joking sometimes when he said aloud that he was the hottest hybrid in the room, but he really did believe that he was good looking. His hair was messy, but not in a bad way. It gave him the look of a wild child, a bad boy. It was the kind of messy that looked good on boys... If boys could pull it off as well as he did.
So when Flo spoke, he raised an eyebrow. He'd stood up and was now leaning against the counter, his eyes glittering with amusement as he watched his twin sister. "I'd be careful of what you say. Some people aren't as nice as I am when you lie to them," he said. Obviously her saying that she was the best looking twin was a lie. "Id say it's only fair that you take your rightful place. But don't worry. The second most attractive otter-fox isn't a bad position to be in. In fact, I'd say that many people envy you and would love to not only be as attractive as us, but live with the great Jex Carter," he said. Yeah... They sure were a humble pair of twins.
Jex held the now almost empty box of cereal in his hands as he watched Flo begin to eat. When he saw her lower her face to the counter and lick up the milk like a dog, he wrinkled his nose. "Now you gotta clean the counter I don't want Flo germs all over the stuff I put on there," he whined.
"Plus, look at me. What do you see? A good looking human. An otter. A fox. Did you hear dog anywhere on that list?" Seriously. He wasn't truly upset at Flo, but he didn't exactly want to put stuff on the same surface that had touched her tongue. Plus, if he let her get away with this, things might escalate. She could move on to licking the floor or his backpack or something stupid like that. In protest of his sister's actions, he dumped a handful of cereal into his mouth. He'd eat just enough that there wouldn't be a bowl of cereal left in the box. Maybe a quarter of a bowl. Or half a bowl if she was lucky.
Jex had friends... Well, some. Maybe not as many as his sister, but he definitely had some. Plus, his baseball team could definitely be considered friends with all the time they spent together. Flo would always be his best friend. He could feel his special rock in his special armpit pouch. While it was slightly uncomfortable at times, the rock from his sister meant more to him than his comfort. And he knew that she would still have the rock he'd given her back when they were little baby otter fox twins.
He considered for a moment what they could do. Water related activities were definitely out and he knew that Flo would respect that. Even if she loved the water, she knew about her twin's fear of it and how much he hated being an otter that was terrified of the water. They could go play some catch, but he wasn't sure if his sister would enjoy baseball as much as he did. When she suggested shopping, he tilted his head a bit. Jex wasn't a huge shopper, but it could still be fun and he could get one of the big soft pretzels in the food court. That was his favorite part about the mall.
He just needed to tease her a bit. "I don't knowwwww," he said, drawing the word out. "I was thinking we could get a movie playing and chill at home all day." Then he laughed. Jex wanted to get out of the house and do something just as much as she did.
"Shopping it is!"

Dani Webb
Dani really hadn't meant to collide with the boy. In fact, she normally tried to avoid people. It wasn't that she was aggressive or angry like that Ace dude she'd run into that one time... she just wasn't good with people or relating to them. But she couldn't exactly run off after knocking this poor dude over. She flinched when she saw the sizzling drink soaking through his pants. Yeah, she really owed him, didn't she? She quickly thought to her wallet and how there wasn't a ton of money in there. She could still scrape some together and buy him a pair of pants, couldn't she? She'd offer a pair of her own pants, but there were many problems with that.
First, she leaned over to pick up the fallen cups and bags of what she had to assume were (now wet) pastries. Her tail was tucked between her legs and her ears were folded back against her head as she looked through the bag for anything they could salvage. Nothing. She could at least offer to pay for the replacements of what she'd ruined. She took the cups and bags to the nearest garbage can, pushing them inside and wiping her coffee stained hands on her pants. Now she had to face the boy.
She jumped when she heard his outburst. Jiminy? Well, the boy sure had a distinct way of speaking. There was something almost charming about how that was the word he blurted out with hot coffee burning his leg instead of swearing like she was 90% sure most people their age would be doing. She looked over at him with wide eyes for a moment, realizing too late that she should've held out a hand and helped him up. Was it really any surprise that Dani hadn't realized that? Not really. She'd been just as surprised as him.
Part of her wanted to snap. Why hadn't he been paying attention? It wasn't solely her fault. At least, she liked to think it wasn't solely her fault. After all, it was totally possible that he'd been rushing through the streets as well. Most likely not on a nice jog, she figured. At least, that's not the assumption she made when she saw what he was carrying. Unfortunately the sight of what he'd been carrying made Dani realize that it was also likely he'd just been on a leisurely stroll to get his family breakfast or something. She suddenly felt even more guilty. Hey, it's not her fault that the streets were so crowded. A dog needed room to run... even if she was part human. She used the back of her arm to wipe some sweat from her forehead. At least she'd gotten a decent run in before plowing over some poor defenseless boy.
When she saw his smile and heard he chuckle, her eyes brightened and her body language began to change. Her tail hung loosely behind her, wagging just slightly. Her ears had perked up at the prospect of not being yelled at. She'd already been yelled at plenty of times and this was the worst collision she'd gotten in today. "Jonah." She repeated her name once before reaching out and shaking his hand. "I'm Dani. I'm sorry about the coffee," she said again, awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck. "There's just not exactly a lot of room to run, you know?" This is why she avoided people. She wasn't good at talking to them. Especially not after running them over.
"Oh-" She'd almost forgotten. "Let's, uh, let's head to the cafe... I'll buy the pastries and coffee you need if you wanted to run to another store and get some new pants or something..." she trailed off awkwardly, feeling bad about his pants more han anything.

Moore Clayton type 2 hybrid (american alligater and keeshond hound) "Ahaha. Go on and purr, ain't gonna change my mind," Moore stated as the little thing tried being a little sweetie. He moved his hand around the cat to pick it up. Bringing it to rest in his arms as he moved out the room, towards some entrance to leave it. "Which really does beg the question, how you even got in."
He looked over the calico, trying to judge that question no doubt going to plague his mind for the rest of the day. Well, it would unless he somehow got the answer to that. Which was doubtful, but he could probably complain to someone later. And of course, as he would get no answer, didn't hurt to ask the cat. "So little kitty, how did you get in? Did your owner sneak in a purse? Or did you just happen to wander inside? One way or another, guess security will need to be upped."
That would probably be a thing. Security. Animals were a no, so the fact whoever was on duty and didn't notice the cat would probably be berated on for a bit. Moore bet it was the human guy, Liamander. He just didn't have the nose to figure out if anyone were sneaking a cat in. Poor guy, at least it wasn't as though it had happened multiple times yet, so he should be good. Maybe he'd even get by and not be blamed for this cat.
And then again, they had to close down the section as to not make a scene, so it might be pretty bad.
He paused a little towards one of the exits looking down at the cat. "Why am I even talking to a cat? It isn't even like you'd be able to understand me, right? Anddddd I'm still doing it. But take one good look in this place. It'll be the last time you do, sorry little kitty."

Sorreni Cascade Walters type 4 hybrid (gentoo penguin, veiled chameleon, florida white rabbit, and rose breasted cockatoo) Even if Sorreni had her own separate place and didn't live here with Cressida, she had a large feeling she would be here enough to basically be living here. Whether it was attempting to get Cres to sleep and drink less caffeinated anything, or reminding her of daily schedules. Not the Sorreni actually minded. It was surprising, since trying to make sure your twin sister get sleep every once in a while at least probably didn't sound appealing to most. She was a little glad she could do anything, given the Sorreni wasn't the one out on the stage actually doing things. She supposed she was a little more like great grunkle grand-uncle Tyler when it came to what she did as a job.
Watching as her sister write on the sticky note and promptly put it in the fridge, Sorreni sighed inwardly. She made a mental sticky note to herself to get rid of the energy drinks. She could just do a complete clean out of the fridge. Get back into cooking again, and try to get her sister to start surviving on a healthier diet as well as sleep schedule. Perhaps she should start with the food, so Cres could get off of the energy drink and coffee diet she seemed to be on. She could make a good dinner on Friday after the shows for herself and Cres. It'd be wonderful. She should find ingredients for that too.
"You should sleep a little before we go- or- or after we're done with it you should sleep instead. The caffeine should wear off by then," Sorreni said with a wave of her hand. She may even need to find some sleeping pills for Cres, or give her a warm glass of milk and cookies and wrap her in blankets and force her to sleep one way or another. People, hybrids or humans, can't survive without sleep like that. Unless you were a hybrid that hardly ever slept. Like a giraffe or bullfrog, Sorreni was pretty sure they could stay up really long. But neither girl was either of those.
Thinking back on what they needed to do though, the interview was the largest thing to be wary of. She startled in realization of what else was on schedule, "No, actually. Well, it could be. You had a few hours to practice for the show a little after the interview, but that is really up to you on whether you still want to. It isn't super necessary, since we'll be going through everything before the show itself, but in the case you feel the need to practice." Sorreni would have to force Cres to sleep after that if it was still gonna happen.
Sorreni went over everything to herself again. Let Cres finish her book, since sleep was unlikely after dumping excessive caffeine into her formerly caffeine-free coffee. Then go to the interview and make sure nothing huge got out or deals were made. Sorreni would probably be forced into conversation with Joyce and she'd try to make Sorreni sign up for Cres joining the show first, which was really an unneeded stress on everyone, so no. After that, there would be a couple of hours for practice before heading back home and being free for the day. In which Sorreni would force Cressida to sleep of course.
It was going to be a surprisingly slow and uneventful day then.

Oberon Alfredo Balcazar type 2 hybrid (polar bear and cat) There was some movement. Like.... a scuffle was happening inside the bedroom. Something was trying to get out as fast as it could from the room and get out. Like a- a whirlwind. Oberon would like to be compared to a wild whirlwind. He hoped he didn't leave a whirlwind of a mess in the bedroom, but he was pretty sure something got knocked down, there was gonna be a pile of blankets on the ground, and they may get a noise complaint later due to the amount of thuds Oberon made. Falling off the bed, hopping on one foot towards the door, tripping and falling. Getting up and stumbling around again before running to one foot.
And now, large brown cat eyes were trying to focus on where his girlfriend was. It was followed by a large smile and two feet properly on the ground and of course, Oberon Alfredo Balcazar saying, "Sandwiches?" He laughed at the tired and goofy way he said the word as he moved out of the room. It was a little sluggish, but the cat bear - polar cat? - was still determined to not go back to sleep.
It would be difficult to when sandwiches were on the line. An he supposed spending time with his girlfriend who made said sandwiches, but obviously the sandwiches were the factored deal. Sarcasm, friends, sarcasm.
With a gleaming smile, he moved towards MK. "Please tell me I heard correctly. Sandwiches from you and you? This must be a dream- pinch me if I'm wrong!~" He purred out. It would be a shame if it twas a dream, but it would make sense seeing as he had a catnap. The only reassurance was the future bruising on his legs from trying to leave the room. "Or y'know. Don't pinch me."
He followed to sit down at the table, droopy smile on his face as he looked at the mixed bird hybrid. "You are my angel~! How would I survive without you? I'd be taking cat naps all day and sandwiches would be void in my life!"

Chester hated the water, he hated the ocean even more. But at least he could swim. Chester surfaced the ocean's depths spitting and sputtering. His slicked back hair now a mess, his jean jacket soaked and worst of all the eel had escaped in the fall. Chester looked around for the little devil. He was out for blood now. But the only thing he saw was a young girl pulling herself out of the ocean and onto the dock. He was lost for words. The demon noodle was actually a little girl. This day was getting weirder and weirder every second. Chester just wanted to fish and have a good time and maybe eat something tonight. Chester was about to yell at this girl but she beat him to it. "Hey! you're the one who started this weasel girl!" He growled back. Chester swam over to the dock and pulled himself out of the water. Chester didn't look happy at all. "You could have asked for some eel you know." He grumbled. "You didn't have to go all rabid and try to kill me for it." Chester pulled off his wet jacket.

Feathertalon -- James to Tyse James was never too fond of studying. That was one of the reasons he never went to college. There were plenty of other reasons too and all of those reasons made him finally come down to the conclusions that college just wasn't for him. School was never a fun place for him, he's rather just stay at home and get a simple and easy job somewhere close to home. He did half of that already with him staying at home most days but he has yet to find a job. Many weren't willing to hire someone with a sight disability. He is mostly blind, all he can really see now is light and shadows. He had gotten a disease after he was born and his sight slowly degenerated from that point on. It wasn't like it made his life harder though, he has learned to live without sight and life was pretty good for him.
Today was one of the days he didn't stay home though. His parents wanted to go out shopping and they decided that was a good excuse to drag him along and get him out of the house. Although he didn't want to go shopping, so he and his parents compromised. he would go to the coffee shop nearby while his parents shopped. It got him out of the house and James was happy to sit and relax and enjoy some coffee by himself.
So, his parents dropped him off in front of the hummingbird cafe with his walking stick in hand. He made his way up to the door and made his way inside. He made his way over to the line pretty easily and once it was his turn to order he got himself a large vanilla hazelnut latter. He never could drink straight black coffee, he always needed something a little bit sweeter. Once he got his order he turned back to the dining room to get himself a table
He started to make his way over to where the booths were, since that was the most comfortable seating in all of the cafe. He almost accidentally sat at the booth Tyse was sitting at before he noticed the shadow of a person sitting there. It was a little embarrassing, but it has happened to him before. He mumbled a quick apology the moved over to the next booth. He sat down and folded up his walking stick before he made himself comfortable in the booth seat. He carefully held his coffee in two hands and took a sip. It was still a little too hot to drink. So, he held the cup in his hands and listened to all the meaningless chatter around him.
𝕊’𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕖 -- Dakota to Nero
Dakota nodded along as he listened to Nero. Just thinking, huh? He was a little curious about what exactly he was thinking about, but if the cat hybrid wanted him to know that he would have added a bit more to his previous statement. Dakota didn't want to pry or cross any boundaries that shouldn't be crossed. He just met the other hybrid, he would want to scare him away. Whatever Nero had been thinking about must have been a pretty heavy topic if it caused him to stop paying attention to where he was going and walk blindly.
Dakota's ears perked up slightly when a question was aimed at him. "Nope, you didn't make me late to anything." He said with a shake of his head. "Today is my free day and I had no plans. So, I was just looking for something to do, or more specifically someone to hang out with. Then I ran into you..." he said as green eyes looked him over. "And then I got to thinking. If you are free right now would you like to hang out with me for a bit? Keep me company?" He asked him with a smile. "That is, if you actually want too. I don't want you to feel like you are pressured into hanging out with me or anything. I can always try to find someone else if you aren't willing."

Stella Bella cat shifter
Rather than cause a struggle or make a larger scene than she already had, Stella allowed the hybrid to pick her up. It actually felt rather nice to be picked up and held, the little girl finding his hold on her to be warm. Stella began to purr even, her tail twitching back and forth in a slow motion, a sign that she wasn’t going to spring an attack on him. At least not now. If he decided to do something stupid then she might just bite him. Stella had no qualms with biting people as she had done it quite a few times before.
Even as he asked all of those questions Stella remained rather still, letting him do as he pleased for now. Maybe he would realize that she was just trying to get an easy meal and once she had that she would get out of his fur. Er, fur and scales. He wasn’t just canine, he was also reptilian from what the feline shifter could tell. He was certainly an interesting hybrid. If she wasn’t so keen on getting a meal she probably would have sat there for a while to just check him out. Check him out in a not romantic way of course. She was much too young for anything like that. Besides, the more this guy talked the more apparent it became that he wasn’t exactly a cat person. Now that was just rude. Who didn’t like cats? Ugh, dog hybrids.
But now she needed to worry about something much more pressing. Her chances at getting an easy meal.
The tortoiseshell began to wriggle around in the man’s grip, mewing ever so slightly as if trying to tell him something. She could see that he was taking them closer to one of the nearby exits. This was her last chance at getting him to feed her; she wasn’t even asking for much, a simple bite of a slice of pizza would work wonders for her right now. The thought made her stomach rumble once more, and she wasn’t sure if that was going to help her cause. Well, it seemed like it was time for something drastic. Stella didn’t feel like starving out on the streets today. She hadn’t done this in a while, but it was either that or be kicked out of the museum.
For a good minute there the little cat simply fell limp, the only movement being that of her chest rising and falling as she breathed. After another little bit the stirrings of a transformation began to bubble inside her chest. She hadn’t felt that in a good while and at first she was surprised at it, how it felt like somebody had blown bubbles inside her body. It wasn’t painful, but it felt tingly, like it tickled almost. And then, almost as fast as the weird feeling happened, it was gone and there, in the museum worker’s arms was no longer a tortoiseshell cat, but a scrawny and dirty looking eight-year-old girl.
With narrowed amber-brown eyes, Stella looked up at him with a pout on her face. ”Whatd’ya have against cats, huh?”

Ivory Lince iberian lynx shifter
Finally, Ivory was just about done with unpacking her clothes, putting aside the dirty ones that she had worn and then taking the ones that she hadn’t worn out so that she could put them away to wear for another day. The dirty ones would, of course, go straight to the laundry, but they weren’t disgusting so that could wait for a moment longer. She didn’t feel like putting up clothes right now, no, right now she just wanted to mourn the loss of the open woods now that they were back in the claustrophobic city. Oh, she hated it so much here. Yeah, the city was a hybrid hotspot, a place where those with animal DNA could thrive and not worry about being discriminated against, but Ivory didn’t care about that. She would much rather take living in a small town surrounded by snobby humans than living in a crowded city any day. If only that day would come soon, and while she hoped for it to be right around the corner, the rational part of Ivory knew that it would still be a while before her and Levi could pack up their things for good and never look at this city again. They were both putting back money from their jobs, but you could only get so much from retail.
The softest of purrs came from Ivory when her boyfriend sat up and stepped over to wrap his arms around her from behind. For a moment her eyes closed, her purring growing louder. Her bobbed lynx tail gave a few happy twitches, the tail not being long enough to really give that much of a wag. Levi always knew how to make her feel better, didn’t he? That was something she loved about him. He may not have a way with other people, but he somehow had a way with the feline shifter. Despite all the facts against them and moving out into the woods soon, Levi gave her hope that they would be out of the city by the time they were old and graying.
”That will, by far, be the best day of my life,” she murmured, the purr lacing into her words. ”I love you and all, but that day will be even better than the day we started dating, or the day when we moved in together.” While her words were true they were still light and humorous, meant to be a joke rather than something taken too seriously.
Now with her attention off of putting away clothes, Ivory was thinking only about Levi and their ultimate plan to escape the city. What he said made sense, and if the Iberian lynx was being honest, she herself didn’t want to just grab the first thing that they could afford. She wanted to save up so that they could have enough to buy a lot of land when they did make the move. She wanted acres and acres of woods and freedom, not just a few trees surrounding a little log cabin. But a little log cabin with lots of acreage? That’s what Ivory wanted. She wanted to be able to step outside right as the sun was coming up and be able to look out and think to herself that all that land around her was hers and Levi’s. She didn’t want neighbors, she didn’t want other people around. She just wanted it to be her and Levi and what nature had to offer them. Even if she was a sociable person, she was still a lynx, and deep down every lynx was solitary unless it came to mates and children. ”I think I can wait a little while longer if it means getting the place of our dreams. I want to move to somewhere far, far out there. A place where nobody can find us, but you already know all of that.” A smile pulled at her lips. It was certainly not the first, or even the second, time that Ivory had said that to Levi.
Ivory’s rounded ears perked up when she heard her boyfriend’s question. She thought about it for a moment before deciding upon something. ”We still have some fish leftover from the weekend, right? Instead of getting city food why don’t we eat like we’re out in the wild? We can have supper and a movie, or fish and video games,” she suggested, liking the sound of video games a little better than a movie right now. Despite her love for the outdoors, Ivory enjoyed playing video games every now and then, especially outdoor-based games such as hunting simulators. She was a pro at those and, honestly, pretty proud of that fact as well.

Tyse Crux human
For the most part Tyse was able to ignore everything going on around him. He never noticed the people walking around beside his booth as crowds left and entered the cafe. He never noticed the nearby couple talking in low, hushes voices about no telling what. He never even noticed the fact that somebody was walking ever closer to where he was sitting. No, he was too absorbed in his notes, reading them over and studying them with a feverish passion. Every now and then he would stop and take out a highlighter from his pocket to underline a specific phrase or word, but that was about all he did other than sit there and just read what he had written in classes earlier. Well, he would also get a drink from his coffee, but that was beside the point here. Tyse didn’t even let his phone distract him - then again, he had a habit of turning it off while he was trying to study. It was a good habit to have, but sometimes he had forgotten to text his boyfriend that he was about to go into a study session that would last hours upon hours. Not that it mattered all that much, but he did feel bad about not responding to Rhys after so many hours.
Anyway.
Tyse was getting rather deep into some notes about a particular culture’s religion when movement actually knocked him out of his studious daze. He stopped, blinked, and glanced up, catching sight of a hybrid boy that had just about sat down in the booth that he was in. That left the human with some questions and a sense of discomfort in the fact that he felt like he had done something wrong.
Closing his notes and pushing the notebook to the side, Tyse turned over to look at the hybrid, noticing that he had taken the next booth over. Had he been in the booth Tyse was sitting at now before he had taken it? Perhaps in his urge to hurry up and get to studying he had accidentally taken the other guy’s seat…
Wanting to right any possible wrong that he might have committed, Tyse cleared his throat. ”Excuse me, I didn’t take your seat, did I?” It was an awkward way to start a conversation, but Tyse had to make sure he hadn’t done anything wrong. He could put aside studying for that at least.

Talulah Caballus border collie x husky x quarter horse
Had she been a human she would have never caught the small whine that came from Ranger. Her ears perked upward out of instinct as they caught the sound, her bi-colored eyes glancing up from her meal as she turned to look at the other dog she was currently interacting with. Had she said something wrong? Her little movie plot was pretty detailed and all, but surely he had been able to keep up, right? Or surely she hadn’t said something to offend him. There was no way. Ranger didn’t seem like the kind of guy to get all sullen over things unless they were really deep and personal. Anybody would draw up into themselves over those topics, but not anything Talulah had just touched upon.
Head cocked to the side, the canine-equine hybrid couldn’t stop herself from asking, ”You alright?” Maybe it hadn’t been anything she had said, perhaps it had just been some bad energy passing through the poor guy. That could happen, especially in a place full of people where all sorts of energy could be found.
Well, the smile on Ranger’s face seemed like a genuine one to Talulah, so whatever had made him whine hadn’t been that bad. Maybe her question had been for nothing, but hey, it was always nice to show that she cared about others, even if they were scoundrels.
As the other hybrid went on to explain the plot of the movie he had watched, Talulah listened and nodded her acknowledgement as she took a sip of her frappe. Everything was going well until he mentioned the two friends turned to lovers having over twenty kids.
She was that close to spitting out her drink.
Taking a moment to calm herself down, the type three hybrid shook her head to clear her thoughts, yet there was still astonishment in her facial features as she looked to Ranger. ”Over twenty kids? That’s insane,” she replied matter-of-factly. ”One of my mom’s best friends has, like, thirteen siblings. That’s already a lot, but twenty? I couldn’t do it.” Not to say that she didn’t like kids, no, she actually enjoyed them. She wanted some of her own one day if she got the chance, maybe three or so, but twenty and counting? How about no. Watch it, though, with her luck, if she ever got the chance to have kids, she’d end up having, like, fifteen at a time or something. That would be absolutely terrifying.
Now with the topic back onto the food, Talulah felt herself ease up a bit. Even her tail, despite it being that of a horse, began to swish back and forth as if wagging. ”Go for it, there’s enough here to feed that horde of twenty plus kids. Here.” She pushed the little tray of food over to Ranger. ”Take what you want, just not too much.” Hey, she needed to make it clear that she wasn’t looking to give it all away. She would give him a little bit, but that was it. Besides, being the only one eating was a little weird, at least in her opinion.

Feathertalon James to Tyse
James' raccoon ears perked up and turned their attention in Tyse's direction when the other man cleared his throat before he looked to him, well more of looked in his direction than directly at him. This was the guy who's booth he almost sat in. He didn't think he would actually say anything about what had just happened, this was kind of embarrassing. Most people just ignored him when he did things like that, but he also had his parents around quite a bit so he didn't do things like this. He was kind of surprised he didn't say anything sooner, he must have been distracted by something but he couldn't exactly tell what it was. By the sound of things he sounded, younger. And he didn't have any animal smells tied to him so he must be human.
He quickly shook his head to answer his question and get rid of any of the man's doubt that he did anything wrong. "No, you didn't do anything like that." he said to him with a smile. Even if his booth was the one he went to first, he didn't take his seat. He set his cup of coffee on the table as he kept both of his hands around it. "I was looking for a booth seat to sit in, and well I didn't realize you were sitting there at first until I got close enough. Also I'm pretty sure you were here before me." he explained to him.
"I couldn't see you, and I still can't really see you." he added then took a sip of his latte, being careful as not to spill any of it. The light coming from outside through the windows sort of helped in outlining his shape, but he was nothing more than a blob of darkness in the light.

Tyse Crux human
There was a good minute or two in which Tyse felt heat rush to his cheeks as embarrassment washed over him. Had he done something wrong by asking the question? What if this hybrid guy thought he was weird or something? Oh, what if the raccoon guy looked at him and told him he was dumb for asking such a question and to mind his own business. Tyse had met a few hybrids like that, where they took one look at him, realized he was a simple human, and then sneered at him like he was a simple pest. What if this guy was like that? For a moment there the college student was brought back to a time in which he had accidentally bumped into what had, at first, seemed like a rather kind gray tabby hybrid. After she had turned to look to see who had ran into her she gave a lash of her tail and hissed at Tyse, telling him to be careful next time, that she wasn't going to let some human run her over. But that was besides the point, that memory was. He needed to focus on what was happening now and hope that this guy wasn't temperamental.
His worry died down just a bit when the other guy replied simply and with a smile on his face. Tyse found himself relaxing against his booth, sighing a little even. So far, so good. He hadn't made an enemy just yet. This was good.
Tyse was about to open his mouth and respond, but there was something that the raccoon boy said that caught him off guard. "I couldn't see you, and I still can't really see you". ... Why couldn't he see Tyse? They were literally only a yard or two apart. For a split second the human boy hadn't even considered the possibility that the poor guy was blind, or almost there, not until he had allowed himself to start talking. "What do you mean by that?" Surely with him being a hybrid he could see just fine, if not better than what Tyse would ever be able to see. But, as fate had it, the moment he said that, he had a realization and instantly regretted ever asking that question.
The boy felt his face heat up and was sure his blush was apparent. "Oh, oh, I'm...I'm so sorry, I don't know what's gotten into me today, I..." Now he was stammering, a blubbering mess. Dang it, Tyse, can't you interact with other people normally for once? If you're always like this how did you manage to get a boyfriend? "I'm usually not like this, or I hope I'm not. Can we...can we restart this interaction? I understand if not as I've offended you greatly no doubt..." Tyse took a deep breath to steady himself and calm his nerves before finally adding, "I'm Tyse, by the way, an expert at being socially inept."

Maynard Skarovski Human Maynard let his smile grow slightly as he watched his wife visibly relax as they stopped talking about the topic of experiments and just start talking as a couple. It was funny really. When he first met Jemima when she was working here, he would have probably said the same, that she was well...stiff, to put it simply. At first that is. The more he got to know the woman she more he started to like her. Plus, he couldn't really blame her for being the way she was at work, because I mean she has to deal with a lot of things here that most wouldn't be able to handle as well as she could. Funny thing was when she was around May and Saskia, she was a completely different person. Laid back, happy, playful even. It was always something that amused him, how different work Jemima was to home Jemima. May listened to his wife, slowly nodding. He understood that. Jemima was always busy around the labs. Most often in the mornings as she scurried around to check on all their teams and make sure they were doing the right things and making progress. Of the pair May would admit she had the more physical job. May's job was more mental. Lots and lots of paperwork. Although when he could the Man did go around the building to inspect their teams himself. Maynard gently grabbed the end of her tail, squeezing it as she poked him. "Ah, quite the opposite I'm afraid. I got no sleep last night, because of work, so this morning I've just been running on caffeine," he said, chuckling slightly. He wasn't a huge fan of coffee, he preferred tea himself, but he was happy to have coffee when he needed it, which was a lot when he took most of his work home with him to finish it. "Sorry I missed you when you left, I was a little too wrapped up in work," he added, scratching the back of his neck. 𝕊’𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕖

Feathertalon James to Tyse
James set his coffee back down at the table when the young man asked him yet another question. Oh, it seems like he still hasn't quite figured out yet that he is blind. He didn't exactly come right out and say it though, so he could understand why he would be a little confused. He was about to say something and explain the situation to him when it seemed that he figured it out on his own. James just smiled warmly at him as he struggled to find his words, clearly some embarrassment in his tone. He didn't mean to cause him so much distress, but there was no avoiding it now.
He waved a hand dismissively at his apology. "No need to apologize, this sort of thing happens more often then you might think." he said to him, keeping the smile on his face. "We can restart this conversation if you'd like." he added. Whatever made him more comfortable in this slightly awkward conversation. Although this conversation has already started, so he didn't really see how they would restart it...
He chuckled slightly at the way that the other man introduced himself. He's seen worse and more socially awkward people than the man in front of him. "Well it's nice to meet you Tyse, my name is James." he said to him with a friendly smile. "So what are you doing here at the cafe today?" he asked him to try to continue the conversation already started between them.
