Charles smiled, “Great. That leaves us with 200 dice plus whatever you manage to get for the medication. That should be enough to get us going.” Charles went over to the bathroom portion of the shack and splashed the complimentary water on his face to clean up a little. The first three miles kn the wasteland had already left him a mess, and there were countless ones to go. Charles couldn’t help but lose some of his hope.
“Let’s see... Food, water, weapons, camping gear, first aid, and a change of clothes? Does that sound about right with what we want to get?” Charles asked, listing off all of the items he had come up with the night before. He knew there was so much more he wanted, but with their limited funds, it was necessity.
Charles looked over at their bed longingly for the last time before leading both of them out into the streets of the Hub. The sunlight glared down on them as they started walking towards the shopping district.

"200 dice is a decent starting point. Randall could've at least let us grab our belongings before we left. We'd have a lot more," she grumbled, knowing that their leader wouldn't have allowed that. He expected them to die and probably wanted that. After all, that would discourage others from trying to steal food. "I'm thinking I can get a decent price for the pills. They're really expensive and we have to ship them in from the clinic here," she explained. She watched Charles disappear and then she went into the bathroom after him. After the toilet flushes, there was water running for a few moments as she washed her hands and then raised some water to her mouth to drink. "If only we had bottles..." she grumbled. Kira nodded as she listened to him list off their needs. "Yeah..." she said, unsure if 200 dice and whatever she could get for the medicine was enough. "Plus, we should probably keep some extra for the road. You know, for emergencies or if we can get a room somewhere." She knew there were inns dotting the wasteland. They were sketchy and expensive, but it was usually worth it to be protected for the night. Plus, she knew that a few included alcohol and food in their room prices. Kira sighed and put the room key on the bed like she'd been instructed to and then followed Charles out the door. "Why don't you get the food?" she asked, handing over 50 dice so he'd have more than enough. "I'll sell the medicine and then we can meet at the weapons booth in about fifteen minutes?" Without waiting for a reply, Kira headed towards the clinic and talked to the doctor before selling the medicine for 30 dice. She claimed that her mother had died instead of telling him the real story. Pocketing the 30 dice, Kira headed towards the weapons booth to wait for Charles. Charles and Kira parted ways, Charles over in the direction of the farmers market, Kira in the direction of the medics. Charles had never done shopping in such a large place and was overwhelmed by all the options. The caravans hardly ever brought such variety to Sprocket City, but he wasn't surprised, knowing Sprocket was known for its efficiency.
Charles spent some time browsing, looking for a cheap nonperishable food that looked safe for human consumption. It was a harder task than expected. There were so many strange looking plants that Charles wondered where they were all coming from. The Hub was in no way huge on farming, that was for sure. Charles had never cared where the stuff came from before, and so he focused. He found a booth selling self-canned meals. The meals weren't meant to taste great, but they got nutrients to you and never spoiled. The perfect food. Charles haggled a good 3 days of food for the both of them from the man for every last dice he'd been given. He really hoped that Kira was having good luck selling her medicines because they sure needed the money.
Charles sifted in and out of crowds towards the gun dealers and managed to catch up with Kira, who had seemingly arrived long before him. "Take these nine cans." He said handing them off to her. "Spent all the dice for three days of food. I hope you have good news on the money front."

Kira had worked hard to get that many dice from the doctor. He'd originally wanted to give her 25, and she was amazed that she'd managed to get him to go higher. She was thankful for it, of course, and hoped that Charles was having luck with the food. She thanked the doctor, tempted to grab a few supplies when he disappeared, but decided against it. Stealing from the Hub was stupid. They had the best trained guards in the entire world. At least, in this area. When she saw Charles coming, she stood up from where she'd been seated and rushed over, smiling at the food she saw he had. She slipped the cans in her backpack and nodded. "Is This for breakfast today too or do you want to buy a cooked and decent tasting breakfast before we leave? Or should we just see how many dice we have left after shopping?" They would need to either get good at stealing or pick up some odd jobs to make more dice. "I got 30 dice for the pills. I wish it had been more, but the pills were almost gone anyway," she said. She turned to the gun dealer and found a decent but somewhat cheap gun. She bought it, surprised when the dealer threw ammo in for free. She then picked a barbed wire baseball bat as well. "Clothes next?" she asked after giving Charles some time to buy what he wanted. "We should see where we're at after shopping I think," Charles said, but he was definitely starting to feel peckish. He shook off the feeling. "That should leave us with a solid two hundred still after we buy weapons." Charles felt pretty good about that number but after Kira's quick spree at the arms place, he felt considerably less hopeful- 65 dice already down the drain. How were they to survive? Charles knew that he needed more than his gun to survive out in the wastes so he bought a crowbar that could be used for many things. It had only cost him 15, which was lucky considering they had plenty else to buy. "Yeah clothes, camping equipment, and water." Charles reminded her as they set off. While they were walking, the sheer number of people started to panic Charles and he, on impulse, grabbed Kira's hand when a large group passed through them. "Sorry, sweetheart, never dealt with this many people before." Charles once again had embarrassed himself. Kira nodded. She was hungry, but they weren't starving yet. They could always skip breakfast if necessary and then stop for lunch or dinner with the canned meals he'd bought. And she liked his prediction of what they'd have left after buying weapons. Despite that, her bargaining with the dealer hadn't helped as much as she'd hoped. But his was still better than spending all their money, right? She could only hope that they'd have enough to survive. She was silently appreciate of his purchase of the crowbar. It'd be helpful in more than just fighting situations and was cheaper than the gun and bat that she'd bought. She nodded at his shopping list. "Let's get clothes and maybe a tent and a blanket? We can't spend too much on campin supplies. Then the rest in water. How much do we want to set aside for an emergency? 50 dice?" she asked. The people made Kira nervous as well, but she did a better job than Charles at hiding it. She was surprised when he grabbed her hand, but she just smiled and gave it a squeeze the same way that he'd comforted her last night. And the sweetheart didn't annoy her as much as it had yesterday. "Yes, honey. I'd love to hold your hand," she said, trying to disguise his nervousness when a pair of girls glanced over at them as looked at Charles weirdly. She only dropped his hand when they arrived at the clothing shop and she frowned at the options in the clearance section. Kira nodded. "Well need a job," she grumbled. She didn't mind working, but they didn't have time to work at the Hun before the Sprocket City caravan came through. They'd have to work out in the wasteland. Those jobs were normally illegal, dangerous, or just dark in general. It wasn't a good choice, but they'd do what they had to do to survive. "But how long will Thai food last us that you bought?" she asked. Charles had to have figured that out and it'd be important in budgeting their dice. She glanced through the clearance rack, wincing at her choices. Some of these clothes were only 1 or 2 dice, but they weren't nice. It took her a long time to find what she needed, but she ended up finding a few pieces of clothing that totaled 10 dice. She paid the shop owner and then stepped back to glance over at Charles and see what he'd gotten. Kira nodded. "Okay, so we've got clothes done. Let's go camping supplies first. How many dice do you have left? I have 90. I think the minimum we need is a tent and then a sleeping bag or blanket or something to keep warm. We can share," she pointed out. They'd shared a bed last night so they could share a sleeping bag if necessary. She led the way to the camping booth and looked over the supples. Charles watched Kira glance through the racks with disgust at some of the clothing options. Skimpy, revealing clothing was cheap, and everywhere on the racks. It was only slightly better on the guys' side of things, but Charles made do. "We have about three days of good meals give or take. As long as we know what is edible, we could probably do some hunting, but that wouldn't be a ton better. Dam... I wish we were given more time to get out of Sprocket City before they booted us." As Kira eventually gathered some cheap clothes that didn't expose too much, they moved on to the camping supplies. "I've got thirty-nine dice on me yet, so I could probably finish up with camping stuff so we can use yours for water." Charles didn't even comment on them sleeping in the same sleeping bag or anything again. He still didn't know how they'd woken up the way they had, plus, he was hardly trusting of Kira yet. She had fiercely wanted that position... who knew what she would do to get it still? Charles browsed the basic camping gear. The best they could do, on a budget, was a tent barely big enough for the two of them, and a heavy sleeping bag that would have to uncomfortably share. Charles haggled the price down with the middle-aged lady running the booth, and managed to drop it to the exact amount of dice he'd had remaining. "Now just water left." He said and looked towards the crowd, looking for the water booths. "Three days?" Kira asked with a frown. "Yeah. We definitely need to get jobs." She didn't want to think about this anymore. She knew that a lot of their job prospects would be extremely undesirable, but they'd do what they had to do. At least they had decent skills. They were both good at fixing stuff, so that might be something that they could use. She stayed back as she watched Charles bargain with the camping equipment salesman. And there went the rest of his dice, which left only hers. But the sleeping bag would be a good one to keep them warm and the tent was just nice to have for rain or when they didn't want to be right in the open. She looked at the dice she had left. If they wanted to save 50 for emergencies, that would leave 40 to buy water. Kira walked over to where a woman was selling freshly bottled water. It was advertised as the cleanest water in the wasteland - which meant it carried a heavier price - but it was their only option. She began negotiating with the woman, eventually getting a couple bottles of water for her and Charles to share. It would last at least as long as his food, hopefully a little longer if they rationed. She handed over her dice and then returned to Charles. "We have everything we need. Nothing left over for breakfast today, so do you want to hang out here since the caravan doesn't come for a few hours? Or get an early start-" she cut herself off when she spotted a vendor selling wasteland maps for only two dice. She quickly bought one and returned to Charles, opening the map. She found Sprocket City and then looked at him. "Where do we want to head first?" she asked. "Jobs are going to be a tough endeavor, sweetheart," Charles said, trying to imagine what they could even do. Fixing things would be an obvious job, but that would only be worth doing farther from Sprocket City. On the other hand, Charles could wield weapons decently well so that would be another option... He wasn't sure what Kira's set of skills were. Charles took a deep breath. They'd get to it when they needed to. For now, survive, and get out of town before the caravan showed up and turned them into outlaws. Charles followed Kira to the water area and let her spend her money for the water. Charles hung back and watched. 'Cleanest water in the wasteland' the sign boasted, but it made Charles scoff. Cleanest water my, *beep*. Everywhere said the same thing, especially back in Sprocket. When Kira was finished with the last purchase, she informed him they didn't have enough left for a nice breakfast. "Maybe we should stay here and eat one of the canned meals before heading out--?" Kira had rushed away to retrieve a map. When she returned, Charles gazed at it. "We either leave East on 5 or South on 65. We need to go the opposite direction from Sprocket City for right now. If a caravan spots us, I have no doubt they'd try to hunt us." Charles looked at the map, trying to imagine what it had been like before the bombs had dropped. What a better world it must have been. Charles gazed down towards the bottom of the map. "I... I'm pretty sure I've heard of a pretty big dam farther south. It was the water supply for the area, so maybe it has the part we need?" Kira shrugged. "Yeah, they are. But we can't survive off of 50 dice for long," she pointed out. "Whatever we can get will probably be less than desirable, and our skills would probably bring too much attention this close to Sprocket City. Are you any good at fighting?" she asked. "Just in case someone tries to rip us off or something?" She knew that was a common occurrence out here. The people that wandered the wasteland weren't exactly the most honorable citizens. No, the decent ones lived in settlements. And if you started out decent in the wasteland, everyone knew that it didn't take long for you to become just as dirty as the rest of them. Kira nodded at his suggestion. Wasting their food didn't seem wise, but they'd need to keep their strength up. Especially when they were so close to Sprocket City. "Our room is locked up already, but there's a little park in the center. Should we go there?" she asked. The park was sad. Her dad had told her about it. A smal patch of grass with a two dying trees. But nature wasn't common in this world, so it still seemed like a miracle. She'd always dreamed of seeing it herself. She couldn't see it with anyone she loved - her dad and Casper were dead and she'd been cut off from her mom and Kayden, but at least Charles would provide some company. Kira nodded at his suggestion about the dam, but there was a frown on her face. "But that's obvious. I mean, we can still go check it out. Any lead is a good lead, but the dam's probably been picked apart by now. Especially for a part this rare." But it was better than nothing. "It sounds like a plan. Let's eat our breakfast and rest, then head south to the dam. If it's not their, we can loop around to the west like this so we avoid Sprocket City," she suggested, drawing a path on the map with her finger. At Kira's question, Charles flexed his muscles and winked at her. "I got you, covered sweetheart. Right now I've got most of what I need. Gun, blunt weapon, and everything it takes to make a bomb. If we need to, we can fight." Charles may have joked, but he was serious, with his work, he had not only built up muscle like he'd never thought he'd have, but he also learned technical skills... most of which were destructive, but some of which could be useful. For example, Charles could make a haphazard GPS that worked with old satellites. He could make a compass, and with some more parts, a walkie-talkie. That was the only thing Charles had to be proud of in his useless, wasted life. His skill.
The idea of a park didn't really appeal to Charles, especially when he could hardly imagine a decent looking park out here, to begin with, but when he saw the look in Kira's eyes, he knew it was pretty important to her to see it, and she had been fairly cordial with him so far... letting him sleep in the bed so he wasn't stuck on the floor, giving him comfort in the crowded streets of the Hub. He kind of owed it to her. "Sounds like a plan, sweetheart." He said sincerely, "Lead the way there."
As they walked, they finalized their plan. They were to begin a trek south on the old Highway 65 to an old dam in search of the rare part. The only flaw in their plan was the fact that they had no way to restock goods or any truly safe place to rest on the way. Charles snatched Kira's map to look at, and traced his finger to Libertyville- out of the way but possibly essential. "Hey, maybe we should detour to Libertyville, it's a little out of the way but will give us a chance to restock."

Kira rolled her eyes. "You're not as impressive as you think," she said, flexing her own muscles. Though she was small, she'd taken one of the more physical jobs in their city. There weren't as many women doing those types of jobs, so she found herself looking a little more physically strong than most of them. "I can shoot, but I haven't for a few years," she explained. She wanted some target practice, but didn't want to waste her precious ammo. "So I might be better off with my baseball bat if possible." She rapped the bottom of it against her foot, careful to keep the barbed wire wrapped around if from hitting her leg. The last thing they needed was injuries before they even left the safety of the Hub. "But it's definitely good for us to know how to protect ourselves," she said. Kira broke into a grin when she heard how sincere Charles was. For the first time in years, her eyes sparkled with a childlike delight. "Oh, thanks, charles...." she said. "Yeah, Libertyville sounds like a good idea. Maybe we can stay there for a bit and pick up some jobs. Earn a few more dice and then restock with supplies. It'll make our trip longer, but it's worth it. We don't want to run out of supplies and die halfway there," she agreed. She began walking towards the park, stopping when she saw it was just as sad as her father had described it. It wasn't too busy, so she grabbed Charles by the hand without thinking about it and dragged him towards one of the skinny and leafless trees. She sat down and pulled out one of the canned meals for them to share. She took a bite, wincing at the taste, and held it out to him. Disgusting, but it would give them the nutrients they needed. "My dad delivered the caravans sometimes when he was alive. They'd stay a night or two here before heading back and he said the park was one of his favorite places to think. One of the few pieces of nature left in this world. I wanted to go with him, but he died before I could. Then I wanted to come with Casper and Kayden, share the place with the people I love.... But they're all gone now." Her voice softened a bit and she gave Charles a weak smile. "It means a lot that you came with me," she said, taking another bite of their tasteless meal. Charles was definitely impressed by the muscle mass that Kira had amassed for herself. It was by no means uncommon for the people, especially the engineers and factory workers, to end up pretty bulky. What was impressive about Kira, was her ability to hide her muscle. She was very small, looked scrawny and an easy target, but she managed it. "I wasn't accusing you of not having muscle, sweetheart. Though you are good at looking weak that's for sure." Charles wasn't sure if he had meant it as an insult or a compliment. Charles and Kira continued their walk to the park area. Charles was by no means excited, but the spring in Kira's step made it worth it- no, he had not thought that! "As far as I'm concerned, I have no place to be any time soon. You are the one with a real life to get back to, so any elongating of the trip is your decision completely." Charles hadn't meant to sound so bitter about his empty life and hoped that it didn't get picked up by Kira. He tried to change the subject. "Anywho, sweetheart, aren't you excited to spend what could be months with my company? What a lucky person you are!" Kira grabbed Charles' hand and he was incredibly surprised. Together, they rushed to the 'park' and Kira told her sob story. He tried to hard not to care, but when she smiled at him and spoke those last words, he almost broke character. "I just came since we might as well go sightseeing before we leave. Don't mean anything by it there, sweetheart." Of course, that had been a total lie, but he still didn't trust Kira. She was playing him one way or another. He knew it. Kira noticed a lot of the women they passed in the Hub were smaller. They were slim and some looked almost delicate and it was easy to pick out the difference between locals and visitors. The locals seemed to fit that image more, while the visitors appeared to be more like Kira - scarred and strong - but she couldn't deny a feeling of pride when she still noticed that even many of the visitors weren't as well muscled and strong as she was. She wasn't sure how to take his last words, but she decided to give him a smile. "I'll take that as a compliment," she said, not caring how he meant that. It might be useful, actually. If Charles looks like he bigger threat, he would be attacked first and Kira would be able to protect them both that way. She did have a real life to get back to. She had a dying mother and a helpless child. Charles' words brought her back to reality for a moment. This wasn't some vacation. This wasn't a fun adventure. This was... it was... death. She had a family that needed her. Her mother had already lost her husband and Kayden already lost his father, how could they now lose her? Her mother would lose her daughter and her son would lose his mother. She was important to both of them and they're truly the ones that made her life worth living. She couldn't just give up this easily. But she forced a smile at his words. "I suppose you're right. I want to get back to them, but safety is more important than speed. I just wish Casper was still around. At least Kayden would have his father." Plus, Casper loved Kira. He would've have fought to get his girlfriend (probably wife at this point) to stay in the city. Casper would've defended her honor. "Lucky?" she asked, frowning a bit. "That's one word. You're a little too egotistical for my taste." He was always going on about how great he was. Kira nodded a bit. "Of course," she agreed. Charles wasn't doing this to be her friend. He just had nothing else to do and might as well enjoy this before their lives were in danger. "It's just nice. I mean, I may never be able to sit here with Casper and Kade, but I'm glad I could come with you. I like to think that Casper would be happy I finally made it here. He wanted to come so badly when he saw how much I talked about it," she said. She smiled sadly, lost in the memories of her old boyfriend. She wasn't hung up on him, but it was hard not to think of him when she was somewhere that they'd been planning on going together. She still remembered how devastated she'd been when he died, leaving her with their young child and only a love note that he'd been planning on giving her later that night. But now she could think back to Casper and be happy. She'd finally made it to the park. Charles sat under the single flimsy tree that the park contained with Kira, 'enjoying' a meal of canned food. It was nowhere near as good as anything he would eat back home, but he had to get used to it. The small park square was empty, and it was nice to get away from the bustling crowds that gave Charles anxiety. He hated people, maybe that was why he pushed most of them away. Or maybe it was so he wouldn't lose anyone like he did his parents. Either way, no mortal attachments was a not a bad thing. The only thing pushing him to return to Sprocket City was the familiarity, otherwise, he could happily have a life wherever. "Well, it's always good to be underestimated." As the two ate beneath the tree, and Kira continued to go on about her broken life and all her loss, Charles began to grow irritated. She, the way he did, needed to let them go. They were dead, gone and it really didn't make any difference now. "I think it's about time you let them go, sweetheart. They're dead and gone and not coming back! And I'd say you are lucky that you have a partner who doesn't feel the need to poor all of the crap in their life on you!" Charles was not egotistical at all, nor was he confident for that matter. Charles hated himself. His attitude, his skill set, his body image, all of it... that doesn't mean he couldn't fake being confident for the sake of pushing people away. Pushing people away had become his best skill over the years. Kira was just simply enjoying this little bit of nature. Nothing had grown back very well after the bombs hit, but these weak looking trees had some leaves hanging limply from their branches. They didn't get to see live trees like this out in the wasteland. It was like hope, in a way. They weren't thriving, but they were surviving somewhere they weren't supposed to be. Just like she and Charles could do. They weren't supposed to be in the wasteland, but that didn't mean that they couldn't survive. She turned, running her fingers along the thin bark. Her dad would be so happy to see her here. Casper would be happy too. Even her mom would be happy since she was too weak and sick to make the trip to the Hub right now. She nodded at his last comment. "Underestimated is good. I can't wait to see their shocked faces when they go after you and I come out of nowhere," she said with a bit of a laugh. Kira really wasn't hung up on them. She missed her Dad and Casper a lot, but she was perfectly fine without them. She'd considered moving on now that Kayden was getting older, but she just hadn't had much time to talk to other guys. So when Charles made his comment, she made a bit of a face. "Yes, I realize they're dead, but I'm not going to just let them go. They're people that I care about, and I have the right to miss them. I'm not hung up on them. This is just something that I've talked to both of them about for a long time, why wouldn't I think about them?" she asked, keeping her cool until his last sentence. "Really, Charles? That's what you think I'm doing?" she asked, crossing her arms. She huffed. "Look. You didn't leave anyone behind like I did. You just don't get it," she mumbled, shoving the almost empty can towards him. She got to her feet. "Since you obviously don't want to talk to me anymore, let's just get going," she grumbled. That's right, Charles thought sourly, I just don't get it. I don't understand what it's like for someone to actually care for me. I don't understand what it is like to come home after a long day to not silence and sadness but to liveliness and people. At least I can move on with my life, unlike you.As Kira got to her feet, Charles cleaned up, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and started walking towards the south end of The Hub. He was too pissed to even care if Kira was following him, but hearing the footsteps he could tell she was. They had already divided up supplies and a plan. It was too late to back out of this rabbit hole. When the two made it down to the Hub exit, they said their goodbyes to the town reluctantly. It was their last shred of absolute safety and absolute society for miles. From here on out, they would be stuck on their own with their lives in the others hands. Charles, needless to say, was not thrilled. ((Don't forget to remove a canned meal.)) Kira knew, deep down, that her comment about Charles not understand was a little unnecessary. But right now, she didn't really care. She was just trying to be happy before they walked to their deaths, and he had to go and snap at her for it. It's not her fault that she actually knew how to get people to like her. Plus, she worked hard. She almost envied how he could come home from work and do what he pleased. She had to come home from work and cook and clean and help Kayden with his homework and help her mom out with that stuff. She had two people that were completely reliant on her and she never got a chance to do what she wanted to do. Charles had all the time in the world to himself, and Kira was almost jealous of that. Kira did not want to leave the Hub. Not only were they leaving safety, butt she would be cut off from human interaction. She'd have only Charles with her until they made it to Libertyville, and right now she didn't want to talk to him. Maybe they were both a little too tense right now, but it was easy to tell that Charles wasn't exactly looking forward to spending the alone time with her. Hey! Maybe they'd even kill each other before the mutated animals, hostile wasteland wanderers, or starvation got to them first. Honestly, she'd probably rather deal with a mutated bear than with Charles. But here they were. They'd left the Hub and Kira gave a polite wave to the same woman that had let them in. She then looked down at her map and began walking towards Libertyville, taking the lead. She stayed quiet as she walked, too frustrated to talk to her partner right now. How would they survive this? (Oh shoot I did. I must've copied and pasted the wrong inventory) Kira's Inventory: 48 Dice 1 Pocket Knife 1 Gun 10 Bullets 1 Barbed Wire Baseball Bat 1 Cigarette Lighter 1 Pair Steel Toe Boots 2 Pair Jeans 1 Sleevless Shirt

Charles was just loving this. He had to spend months with some whiny tramp who cared more about her dead boyfriend than her own life. Wow. That's not fair. He thought to himself sourly, That is not fair to think. It really wasn't her fault that she had people to care about and he didn't. He made all the girls laugh, but none of them liked him enough to actually get to know him. It wasn't her fault that all of his family had either been exiled themselves or just killed during work. Sometimes the freedom was nice, sometimes it was lonely... Charles started to kick rocks around the wasteland and make a bunch of noise just to annoy Kiera. Then he started humming an old song from before the war. Then he started full out singing. Just to see if she would react at all. "I bless the rains down in Africa!" ( sorry) ((Sorry it's short, I am working on some hmwrk.) She was still frustrated about what had happened at the park. Irritated at Charles for how he reacted. Guilty about what she said. Scared of what would happen next to them. None of the emotions floating through her mind were positive and Kira just found it easier to walk in silence. At one point, she'd bent down to pick up some wood and pulled out her pocket knife, starting to whittle a little bit as she walked. It was something her dad had taught her when she was really young. She did her best to ignore Charles as he made plenty of noise. When the humming started, she narrowed her eyes and glanced down at her wood. It looked like a mess at this point, so she just tossed it aside and rolled her eyes when she heard him singing. She turned, her pocket knife still in her hand. "Is that necessary?" she asked Charles, speaking for the first time since they'd left the Hub. (I'm leaving for work now. Sorry it's so short, I didn't have time to type anymore) Kira's Inventory: 48 Dice 1 Pocket Knife 1 Gun 10 Bullets 1 Barbed Wire Baseball Bat 1 Cigarette Lighter 1 Pair Steel Toe Boots 2 Pair Jeans 1 Sleevless Shirt

Charles grinned. "Absolutely, sweetheart! Need to keep my morale up, and what's better to do that than to sing the classics?" Charles belted into a verse of another old-timey song from before the bombs had dropped. He could see the frustration on Kira's face and laughed as he sang. "What are you working on?" He finally asked, noticing the wood piece in her hand. Looking at her working and being productive, he realized that if he found a way to strap a table to his stomach, he could work on his electronics while on the road. Charles continued walking through the wasteland behind Kira when they came across a small shack standing all on its own. The shack was made of old, dry, splintered wood and looked like it was hardly standing still. There were no windows or noise anywhere that would give any clue to how populated it is, only a door that was creaking on its hinges against the hot wind blowing through. Charles stopped in his tracks and pulled out his crowbar. He wasn't sure why, but the place gave him the chills, and he wasn't entirely sure what to do about it. "Do we approach...?" He asked Kira. He looked at her and noticed that she also looked tense, though it could have only been his imagination getting in the way. Without waiting for a response, Charles started crouching forward with his weapon out in front of him. He was totally alert as he approached the strange shack. That was when it burst out and Charles was fighting for his life from a strange, bearlike creature.
