Hello! So, now that I've gotten back into the rping on the forums (...after the old ones were destroyed), I've really been itching to rp with a character of mine. I'm only looking for one partner at the moment, and I have a few requirements. Requirements- Activity- I'm not extremely bothered by inactivity, especially given that my school year looks like it might kill me. I also tend to not be very consistent, sometimes being on for really long periods and really into it, and other times going days without posting. So long as they're communication between us, I'm fine with you being the same way. I just ask that you try to post at least once a week, though the more often the better.
- Detail- I completely understand that some days and in some situations, all you can manage to write is one or two sentences. However, it is very difficult for me to respond to those a lot of the time. I tend to try to at least match my partner's length, though depending on what's going on I can get rather long or short. My average tends to be a few paragraphs and I ask that you try to do at least 2 paragraphs in a reply, though I understand if sometimes you can't. This just allows us to have more to work with, rather than it ending up getting stagnant and boring.
- Plotting- Please don't make it so that I'm the only one driving the plot forward or coming up with all of the ideas. That kind of defeats the purpose of working together with someone to write.
Additional Info- Relationships- I'm fine with our characters developing any kind of relationship as the plot goes on, I just ask that it comes about naturally. For romance, I'm fine with either FxF or FxM, but not MxM considering that my character is a girl. I also ask that the romance is not the focus of the plot, as I find that it is hard to move things along if that is the case and too much romance tends to annoy me or put me off.
- Setting- This rp will take place in a fantasy setting, along the lines of Eragon or Lord of the Rings. So no computers or other technology that wouldn't be found in those worlds. Magic will definitely play a part, as that's something fundamental to my character's backstory, and dragons will probably (but not definitely) be involved.
- Plot- Before we start, I ask that we have a plot at least somewhat thought out. I have some ideas that I'll talk about when I find a partner, but I'm fine with changing them if I like something you suggest.
- Character- Keep in mind that this is just a basic summary and if you want, I can expand upon parts of it.
Anastanya 'Anya' Vivienne Dionysia Dryakian // Normally I write her as 19, but I can age her up a little if desired // Female
The only progeny of the rulers of the land, she lived the rather prim and proper life of a princess until the age of 10, when her magical abilities appeared with no explanation, and, having no idea how to control her new and unstable powers, she accidently killed her mother during an argument. The king, wanting to keep the truth of the incident quiet, told the kingdom that the queen had died at the hands of an assassin and that the princess had been captured and was being held prisoner by a rival kingdom. In truth, the king had sent Anya to an old, previously abandoned castle within the territory of an allied kingdom, where she was, in fact, held prisoner, not because the kingdom wanted anything from her family, but because it was the only way to have her punished as a criminal without anyone outside of a few select circles finding out. It also kept the only heir alive. While it is not exactly terrible in the castle--it is a castle, after all, no matter how old--it is extremely isolated, which has caused a bit of psychological damage to the princess. Her father occasionally sends knights in an attempt to 'rescue' her, while in reality just bringing scant supplies and making sure she hasn't died yet.
She stands 5'7", with warm brown skin and long, curly, and somewhat unkempt, dark hair. While she was born with brown eyes, around the time of the incident her eyes changed to an unnaturally bright shade of blue, somewhat like this. She doesn't really know how to interact with other people anymore and how she behaves can change very quickly. She has some mental problems due to lack of human contact and suffers from hallucinations, with them being mostly auditory, but occasionally visual.
I fluctuate between having her demiromantic or aromantic(so expect any romance to be a bit more difficult), though, either way, she's ace as hell.

(Sure! Could you tell me a bit about the character that you plan on using so we can figure the plot out a bit more? Also I'm glad that you find it interesting, I was worried that no one would ^^)

{{- Sure! Here's some basic info:
Azar Carmelius Queste- 19 years of age - Azar is a bit taller than average height (standing at 6' 0") and has a semi-slender body type. He has very dark brown hair that usually falls down over his exotic, bright green eyes. His skin is naturally fair, but years of spending his time outside has lead to a slight tan. His face is sprinkled lightly with freckles as well as his shoulders and arms. He tends to wear ragged clothing and pieces with hoods, no matter the weather.
Azar has lived in the kingdom that is allied with Anya's for his entire life. Because of his unspoken past he has had to live in three orphanages and the streets since he was seven. He is quite and doesn't draw much attention to himself, and spends his times wandering, gathering, and looking for easy money. He tends to be very curious, and it can get him into much trouble, but he has learned to sometimes draw back from it.
Sorry for such the long time. I was evaluating on his past and decided to leave out some so that we can come to that part later in the roleplay. c: -}}

(No problem, I was busy anyways) (I really like Azar's name and description. Also, I've done a lot of rp's lately where both of the characters have been girls, so he'll be a welcome change to that I completely understand trying to decide whether or not to leave out background information. It took me a long time to figure out if I wanted to include what I did about Anya's past, but I eventually decided that it was so fundamental to her, her situation , and even a bit the world it's in that it would probably be best not to keep you in the dark about it. I'm very interested in finding out about Azar's past.) (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that you're planning on him either breaking into her castle out of curiosity or figuring he could steal something to make some money? Or possibly both? Or am I wrong? That was just the vibe I was getting from his description. Also do you have any ideas for where you'd like this to go?)

{{- You're very good at this xD. But I do suppose the description does say a bit about your predictions (Which they were actually both kind of right). I guess it would be best if we were to roleplay this out then? c: EDIT: Okay as for the ideas of where it is to go I am currently thinking. I sure one will come to mind eventually. -}}

(I have a tendency to take small details and overthink them. Whether or not that's a good thing depends on the situation XD I just wanted to get a bit of an idea for how they would first meet and that just seemed the most logical. As for roleplaying it out, yes, I definitely agree. However, It's pretty late here and I have school tomorrow, so I actually have to go. But if you come up with any ideas, feel free to leave them here while I'm gone.)

{{- Ah sorry I wasn't on earlier I was watching movie with my fam. Anyways yes I shall explain:
On that occasional times when her father sends "brave knights that attempt to rescue the princess", the knights ride through the village that Azar lives (or, rather, the streets). They attract his attention, and so he decides to follow them because of his curiousness. He sets off after them and after a few hours of riding he loses them. Not long after wandering a bit does he see the ruined castle, far in the distance. Knowing that there are probably some useful and/or sell-worthy trinkets in there(and also because of his hard-to-control curiosity), he decides to set off for it. By the time he gets there the knights are gone and he breaks in and eventually meets your character-Anya. We can roleplay the meeting and the rest, and as far as where this is to go I still haven't figured that out and we can discuss some ideas out together. -}}

(Sorry I was gone so long, turned out I had even more homework than I had thought. Why I didn’t do any of it during the weekend, I have no clue…)
(I rather like your idea for how Azar would end up there. For Anya it’s basically going to be an average day for her—maybe a bit less than average since the knights actually came with some supplies, which although that’s definitely a good thing, the way that they treat her is not. But by the time Azar gets there, she’s back to her normal routine of trying to do something to keep her mind occupied so that it doesn’t torture her—probably reading old books from the library.)
(I think we should probably wait to figure out where to go until after they meet at least a little bit, so that we can get a bit of a feel on how their relationship will be and the types of interactions that they will have and such so we can figure out where those personalities and any conflicts could lead them)

A slight rumbling on the ground woke Azar up from his light slumber. He groaned, massaging his stiff neck that he had fallen asleep weirdly on. Hooves, that's what it was. Not only that but they were getting louder. He brushed the hair that had fallen in front of his eyes away and peered around the edge of the shoppe that he had slept by.
Four of them- looking all bright and shiny. Not only that but they hosted riders that had outfits he had only seen once before. They all had bright chest plates, broadswords, and scarred faces. Undoubtedly the toughest warriors that the king would be able to find in the entire land. No- the banners that their chest plates held were not from this kingdom, but the neighboring one. What would they be doing here? They seemed to be stopping at a local food stand for some fresh fruit and drinks. Not a long stop, though, they seemed to on a mission. One that Azar wouldn't mind accompanying.
Magnus was already up despite the very early hour (he always seemed to want to slept during the day)- he wandered aimlessly about the small stall in the stable that Azar had left him in for the night. Azar caught sight of his horse's familiar brown coat and opened the door to his stall, pulling out a carrot for him to eat. "We have to go, I'm sorry," Azar spoke quietly to his companion. He led him out of the stall, glimpsing the knights as they began riding in opposite direction they came- towards the forest. He quickly saddled his loyal horse and hopped on immediately, "Ride!" Azar called, kicking his feet into the horses sides before the familiar lurch as Magnus rode off happened.
Three hours later Azar found himself lost. Deep in the middle of a huge forest. With absolutely nowhere to go or any sense of direction. Magnus was already being shifty. Something in these woods didn't want them in there. He had completely lost the fancy-outfitted men at hour two and was now going about, trying to find a better path than this completely overgrown one. It was hard to tell if he was even on a path or just a narrow line where trees didn't grow. He could feel an odd sensation come over him- remembering the children's stories from the orphanages of evil beasts lurking in the dark woods. "I'll be right back," Azar told Magnus just before he got off and began to find a suitable tree to climb. He wasn't an expert climber, but sometimes trees were better than grass patches by closed shoppes, so he had his fair share of experience. It didn't take him long after he'd reached the top, and after a quick 360 he was bestowed upon one of the most amazing sights he'd ever seen. A castle, not to far in the distance, all ruined and broken. Tattered and abandoned.
He had hit the jackpot. Who knows what he could find in there?! Old suits of armour. Trinkets and undoubtedly some sell-worthy items. "Magnus! We're going!" he called down to his horse. Climbing down a distance before jumping out at a safe height. He hopped on his horse and rode in the direction of the castle. Grinning with curiosity and awe- this was going to be great.
{{- Alright. Sorry that took so long I just had to stop. You can maybe reply with the knights encountering Anya in the castle? Idk. I promise I'll get Azar in the castle in the next reply I just had to stop. -}}

To say that Anya was a light sleeper would be an understatement. Years of constant nightmares had conditioned her to rarely fall into a slumber deep enough for dreams, though sometimes, like now, that hardly seemed to matter. She lay on an old, slightly saggy bed, her fingers curled tightly around a threadbare and stained blanket that looked just as old. Her face was twisted with pain, her shoulders or arms occasionally shifting, pulling in towards her body.
Despite her obvious discomfort, Anya couldn’t shake herself from her sleep. It was only after her room trembled slightly with the deep creak of the ancient entrance opening and closing that she jerked awake, practically jumping from the bed. Anya frantically turned her head back and forth, for a moment forgetting where she was, before the fact that it was the front door registered. Her shoulders lowered slightly, but much of her tension remained.
It’s all your fault, a thin, slimy voice from her dream whispered in her ear. You’re nothing but a monster.
“Shut up.”
Anya rubbed furious at her eyes, trying to forget the nightmare. The door moving meant only one thing: the knights had come with supplies—enough to keep her alive for the next month or so if she rationed it somewhat properly. At least, she thought it was about every month that they came. She’d stopped paying attention quite some time ago. It was rather hard to keep track of time when every day was the same anyways. Regardless, knights meant acting at least somewhat normal.
Anya smiled bitterly to herself. Yeah, sure, normal. Even before she ended up in this hell, normal had been a foreign concept for her life.
She ran her fingers through her hair for a few moments, then brushed the still mostly tangled locks behind her ears. The knights wouldn’t care regardless. She glanced out her window at the dark forest below her, took a deep breath, and left her small room.
Anya slowly made her way down the spiral stairs, trailing one hand along the rough stone wall. Even though it wasn’t that early, the low amount of windows in the staircase made seeing the steps difficult.
She froze in her tracks when she reached the main hall and spotted the group of four. Anya smoothed the skirt of her shabby dress, suddenly extremely conscious of how much of a mess she looked compared to their prim and shiny armor. Meanwhile, her dress—which had at one point been a rather well tailored, sky blue piece—was shabby and faded, almost as threadbare as her blanket and with multiple tears. And to think she had once been their princess.
Anya gave them a curtsey, then just stood there, unsure what to do or say. The knights barely acknowledged her as they stacked crates against the wall. They were no doubt filled with food, items that wouldn’t go bad quickly and often tasted bland. Maybe there was a trinket or piece of clothing or two in there as well if she was lucky.
“Anything new happening in the kingdom?” she asked after a few moments. Again, they basically ignored her, only glancing at her. No actual answer. Anya sighed and sat against the wall, watching them.
It wasn’t long before they were done and the knights made to leave. They kept a close eye on her as they opened the large front door, then quickly closed it behind them. She could hear the loud clunk of the lock.
(this also got really long and I felt I needed to stop ^^)

The magnificence of the castle - even in its old abandoned form - was amazingly hard to take in. He gazed up in awe, wondering how long it would take to build something of this size. It appeared much more intact from this distance than it had when he saw it just a while ago. The reason, he realized, was because of a castle column that he had seen that had the once pointed roof completely taken off of it. Whether from erosion or some other force- he didn't know.
He led Magnus up to the (massive) front doors, then reined in on his horse a couple of yards before they reached them. He hopped off of Magnus and tied him up to a tree that stood by a small fountain. "You're going to have to wait out this one, bud," Azar spoke softly, giving Magnus an apple before heading into the castle.
Dust, dust, and more dust was most of what he had found upon wandering through a small section of the castle. His footsteps echoed softly throughout the long sunlit corridors, and he flinched from the noise every time he kicked a small rock or piece of rubble. It wasn't long before he turned a corner and was shocked by the sight of a beautiful room with high ceilings and books galore. He went in just to wander about the maze of shelves that seemed to go up forever and found a few piles of books scattered about a table. He went up to a book that was open. It was thick and surprisingly not covered in dust like most of the other stuff in the castle. He picked it up and closed it- losing the page that it had been turned to. Although Azar didn't know how to read, he stared at the letters of the title with awe, as they had been etched out in gold. "Lonely Dragon" was the title of the book, but since Azar couldn't read he just kept staring at the strange markings on the front of the book.

Following the departure of the knights, Anya had headed to the castle’s library, the only room in the castle that made her occupation of it anywhere near bearable. Even after a few years, she had only managed to chip away at a small fraction of the collection. Currently, she was making her way through a section about the ancient dragons of the land.
When she had lived in a still functioning castle, dragons were hardly ever mentioned, despite being the centerpiece of her family’s crest. When they were talked about, they always seemed more like myths and legends, or at least creatures that no longer existed anywhere near their land. These books, however, seemed to come from a time when dragons still freely roamed the land. The ancient books sometimes contradicted one another. One would talk about dragons with disdain, as though they were beasts just as feral as any other, while a different book would speak with awe at the intelligence and power they displayed.
The book she was currently reading told the story of a dragon ostracized from their own kind after they formed what was described as a close bond with a human. Things only became worse for the dragon when another of their kind murdered their friend. The prose was beautiful and often moving. Anya had no idea if it was something that actually happened, or just a made up tale, but that didn’t matter much to her.
Anya started when she heard the front door open for the third time of the day, immediately getting up from her seat. That wasn’t right. The knights would never come back on the same day. She glanced in the direction of the library entrance. The main hall lay between here and her chamber, which meant the chances of her sneaking past whoever was here were slim to numb.
Leaving the book behind, she made her way deeper into the labyrinth of books. The sound of footsteps stopped her dead in her tracks, hands fidgeting with the folds of her dress. Why was someone here? This castle was all but forgotten by the local population, so why would someone come to it? It couldn’t be that they knew about her, no one besides the knights and the kings was supposed to know that she was in this specific castle. Anya took a deep breath, trying to stifle the panic rapidly rising in her chest.

Azar frowned down at the book in his hands, staring intently at the letters inscribed on the cover. He remembered reading once or twice in an orphanage, but that had been many years ago and even then his reading skills had been simple words at best. He held the book in his hands still, pacing about the labyrinth of shelves and piles of books. They didn't mean much to him, but the one that he had picked up he decided he would keep. After all, it wasn't exactly stealing if no one had used it for hundreds of years.
His mother had tried to teach him to read. He didn't exactly know why he remembered this- except it wasn't really a memory but more of a sense. A notion that he knew that his mother had begun teaching him how to read before the... incident. He took a deep breath, trying to push the memory away from his mind. That wasn't what he needed at the moment. What he needed was money, and he wasn't doing a very good job of finding anything good to sell or use.
Maybe a few of these books. People pay for books, and right now he had an entire library at his disposal! He searched the shelves, looking for the shiniest, brightest, fanciest looking books he could find. There was a claret and gold book, a blue one with hundreds of different images inside of it, and an entire collection of yellow-spined ones that he knew had to be an entire series.
It took him a little while to realize that he wasn't alone. A slight scuffle on the ground, faint but still audible. His logical side told him it was probably just some mice- a place like this had to be full of them. His gut told him otherwise...
"Hello...?" Azar called faintly, turning in a circle while holding the one book that he had gotten from the table. The table! Now he certainly knew he wasn't alone. Why wasn't the book covered in dust and why was it sitting open to a page in the middle of a table that had a pulled out chair?! He reached to his pocket with his right hand and grabbed the hilt of a small dagger. He wasn't alone.
