oooo yeah that sounds good !! how should we get into that :00 there could be a timeskip after their nerdy hangouts rn, where hey its the weekend and they're at the party & the argument arises? also if u got any other plot ideas let me kno !! :^)
Glad to leave her car as well, Jude was one to simply ignore any problems on her mind for a good distraction, and food was a viable option for distraction at that very moment. It should've been concerning, the amount of suppressed emotion that would eventually lead to her depressing hubris. But Jude didn't like to think ahead. All she could do was be in the 'now'. And right now, she could kill for a cigarette. A gross habit, but stress relieving nonetheless. Stress was a constant in her life lately. "Oh yeah, a menu curated by none other than Gordon Ramsey, of course." She was quick to quip back at John. Anyone who knew them must've been awfully annoyed by their back-and-forth nonstop sarcasm, but Jude liked their banter. She couldn't help it, it was her and Johnathon's friendship package deluxe deal. Nonchalantly dropping into the booth seat across from him, Jude already knew what she wanted to eat but perused the menu anyways. "Belgian waffles and lots of bacon? And milkshakes? What a nutritious school lunch we're havin' today!" The menu, held up to where her face was obscured from Johnathon, lowered a bit to reveal her eyes narrowed and eyebrows raised dramatically. When the waitress came to attend their table, Jude was quick to drop the antics and put in her order. Belgian waffles, extra extra bacon, and a chocolate milkshake with at least five extra cherries on top. Those probably-fake, sugary syrupy cherries were a vice for her. The ginger also ordered a cup of black coffee - it was her coping habit for knocking her itch to smoke, which kind of worked, kind of didn't. Sure, it fit her half-faux punk rock aesthetic, but Jude watched her mother wither away smoking packs and it left a bad taste in her mouth. Jeez, why can't I go a day without thinking bad thoughts. Especially around him.
"So, big news kind of? I mentioned my band stuff earlier, and I forgot to mention we're playing at Jake McNamara's house party this weekend." Jude had a sneaking suspicion that Johnathon already knew about the party hosted by one of their star football players, but her band playing was a new development. "They already have two or three other li'l crappy bands from the scene here, but one cancelled so he asked me to fill in. Which was weird, 'cause I doubted those meatheads knew we existed, but they did. I'm like, nervous and excited." The girl fiddled with the sugar packets sitting in the little table caddies and her nails scratched at the paper packets. A big party with lots of people wasn't something she was unfamiliar with, but most of her gigs were as out of town as she could go. In front of a bunch of drunk kids she knew from school? Not ideal. "I'm pretty sure my bandmates only agreed to get free booze."

[ yeah that sounds good! she could be playing and then jono is being supportive and then someone is like 'she your girlfriend or something' and then yeah, people start picking on him. and it all goes down. will do! C: ]
"I love my nutritious lunches as much as I love my early morning calculus," he was obviously very serious by the look on his face, where he went cross-eyed and moved his head from side to side. He wouldn't dare do such a thing to another girl, well, sure he'd be goofy and silly and try to make them laugh, but he wouldn't just be... weird. That was why he appreciated the little moments with Jude, in which he could be weird, and she may think he was weird, but he never felt weird. It made sense in his brain. He made sure to add in a quick, 'extra, extra bacon' when the waitress walked up with a notepad for their order. He turned his nose up to the cherries though and shook his head, though he didn't make a verbal complaint. He knew Jude enjoyed the cherries when he despised their fake, plastic texture and flavour. He would let her have them though, since he knew she enjoyed them.
He was certainly surprised when she brought up the party, which of course he'd been invited too a week or so ago. He was even more surprised when she said she'd be playing - because just like her, he didn't even realise Jake McNamara even knew she existed. It wasn't supposed to be a rude thought, it was just... Jake and Jude were very different people, with Jake being a football beef-head, minus the brain, and Jude being punk and quirky and smart. He grabbed a napkin from the table and unfolded it, then he began folding it back up again into the shape of a paper plane. "Well I'll definitely be there, and I'll definitely be cheering you on. I'll make sure you get an encore and the other bands don't," he smirked, his slanted eyes glancing up at her from his little plane. "But seriously, that's cool." He finished and lifted his plane, which he threw in her direction but the measly napkin plane only went straight down again. "You been to many parties? I don't think I've seen you at them in a while," he asked.
A few moments later the food arrived and he thanked the waitress as she placed the food down at their table. Well, they sure had got their extra, extra bacon. He pushed the milkshake to her so that she could take off the cherries and he dived into the bacon. "How's your family been lately?" He asked with half a mouth full of bacon. He knew her father well after having known Jude for so long, and he knew her older brother though not well. It seemed kind of odd for him to ask, but he hadn't seen them in so long, and for some reason it just popped into his mind. For a long while her family had been like his second family, but as they got older they just seemed to move further and further away. He didn't know what caused the rift, just one day it was there, and he became too distract to patch it back together. That was okay though, right? Jude seemed like she was doing fine, she had her band. He had his basketball, that was just how life goes isn't it?

wow i must sound like a broken record but sorry again for the big delays :'0 work & life got me busy this week !! lmk whenever u wanna time skip, i don't want this to get stagnant ^^"
"Like I said, it's just weird thinking about it. Makes me nervous, with all the people from school there, y'know? But getting paid with booze was a tempting offer." Jude gave a meek shrug as she continued her nervous habit, not sure what else to do with her hands. It felt a bit stupid to be so anxious about something she's done so many times by now, but despite being the 'I don't give a damn about my bad reputation,' type, she actually cared about her reputation. And her reputation didn't involve ridiculous high school parties where parents went away for the weekend, so football jocks and tickled pink cheerleaders could get 'lit'. She felt kind of above that. It was some pretentious thinking for sure, but the underground punk scene had a vastly different and very accepting vibe, making those get down's much more enjoyable for Jude. Being somewhere where people only knew her by her band, by the persona she put up and the lyrics she screamed, the feeling was foreign and exhilarating. Jude raised a ginger eyebrow at John's question that was really more of a statement. "Lots, actually, but most are in the next county over. Everything here's the same," She explained and sat back in her seat. "Sometimes I go to whatever kick backs Dante has at his house. Usually though, I'm at parties like the one this weekend, where it's bands playing so it's a show but also a party. They're really fun, definitely a change of pace, you can't get bored of them. Mosh pits galore, never leaving without a bloody nose, it's like Fight Club." Jude shot him a cheeky grin. She was half kidding, of course. Imagining Johnathon in a mosh pit was like picturing a twig in a hurricane. Very amusing.
Jude almost forgot the subject entirely once she saw the mound of food; she hadn't realized how hungry she was. Skipping breakfast wasn't the smartest decision. Quick to pluck off the cherries from their milkshake, she ate them all in quick succession before digging into the pile of bacon. She had the manners to reply after chewing her food, though. "Eh, they're all doing alright. Dad's on another trip, but he should be back by Tuesday, I think. He had to fly out to Texas or something." The ginger explained while cutting off a piece of waffle to drench with syrup. "Matteo's busy with work, but he comes around every now and then. It's all pretty much the same." She seemed rather dismissive of the subject - talking about family was the last thing she wanted. It just reinforced the idea in her head, that everyone was moving on in life without her. Jude couldn't blame her brother, their family had gone through hard times after their mom passed away. Jude had barely started middle school, Matteo being a senior, and tied in with their recent move to the states created an extreme hardship. If he had his own thing he was proud of, she wouldn't let herself be bitter. She couldn't be selfish. But her dad left Jude feeling some contempt, he was so distant and there wasn't anything she could do about it. Johnathon's family was like a second family for her as well, filling in some of the gaps left from hers, making her feel more welcome in their house than her own. But life continued on like clockwork; with every tick of its hand, Jude lost more and more, and with every tock that continued, she tried to grab onto whatever was left. "How's it been with you? I feel like we haven't caught up in a while."

[ don't worry! i totally understand - sometimes things just happen Cx i'm happy to skip whenever, character introductions and stuff are pretty much done ]
Getting paid in free booze seemed like a top deal to Jonathon. Albeit, he wasn't much of a drinker himself. Not many people seemed to realise that given he often went to parties, but it was easy to appear intoxicated when everyone else was basically blind. It was intriguing to him though when Jude spoke about her adventures in the neighbouring towns, his nose scrunched up at the idea of getting a bloody nose. "If you haven't quite noticed yet - though I do suggest investing in some pro-vision eye wear if you haven't - that I am a twig. And we twigs do not belong in mosh pits in which every single individual will end up with bloody noses - presumably broken, at least someone." His voice was sarcastic, and yet, his words weren't false. A twig like him? In a mosh pit? The horror! Jonathon enjoyed being social, he enjoyed partying and being in the eye of attention, but there was also a lot he didn't like. Such as tight spaces, and being hurt. And being cold.
He crunched on a piece of crispy bacon, then took a forkful of some waffle smothered in syrup and bacon fats. It was grossly delicious. He kept an eye on his milkshake and stole it back from Jude after she'd picked out all of those cherries. He drank it as he listened. Seems like her life was just about as exciting as his was currently. His parents were always working, it was more like they were partners in business than partners in a relationship these days. They used to seem in love, but his father got a promotion, and his mother followed suit, and now they just work and stay married because that's the safest thing to do. He shrugged his shoulders when she asked about him, "Eh, ma's been working, pa's been working, the dog probably is even out working to be honest." He smirked, though he didn't seem too full of amusement. He also didn't have a dog. He thought for a moment that it was only ever he and Jude who seemed constant back then, and now it was nothing at all that seemed constant. Everything had turned dysfunctional and he hated the fact that he could relate to those cheesy, cringey, TV dramas about teens. He refused to admit that he was a somewhat troubled teen. "I just look forward to graduation, really. I'm going to try and get a basketball scholarship - dad was pushing me into biology and chemistry, and I enjoy that too, but really my hearts in the game." Even that sounded cliche. Like some 'High School Musical' tear-fest. It'd been a while since he'd had a normal conversation about his perfect-not-perfect life. Other people don't like hearing what you have to say, they only want to talk. But he felt like he and Jude had that mutual connection and understanding where he could spill himself, or she could spill herself, and it was mutual.
"This waffle and bacon breakfast was definitely a good idea," he said - and unlike Jude - he spoke with his mouth stuffed of waffle and syrup. He washed it down with some milkshake and smirked at her, the familiar playfulness was in his eyes again, "Good thing I'm not paying."

included the time skip in this just so we can keep the ball rollin' ^^" hope thats ok ! also i totally forgot jude's band name so their new one is EKUN lmao its backwards for nuke
“Wow, am I sitting with the one and only Troy Bolton? Keep ya head in the game, my guy.” Jude’s tease was light and half-hearted, she knew how much this meant to Jonathon and didn’t want to dog him about it. “Just do what you wanna do, man, it’s your future ya know? Not your dad’s. They already did what they wanted to do. My dad went from living in favelas in El Cerro, went and earned all of his college credentials and whatever, and then he came over here he found out nobody gave a crap about it. ‘Cause this country only cares about its own broken educational system. Whenever I see him, we only talk about applying to colleges and scholarships, and it’s a good idea sure, but he’s my living proof that school ain’t everything. He’s managing a pretty hefty company.” She paused her spiel to sip up almost half the milkshake in one go, savoring the chocolate-y goodness. “Didn’t mean to talk your ear off dude, but honestly, if we don’t just try to do what we want for ourselves, it’s just gonna end miserably.” She hadn't meant for the tone to take such a serious turn. The last sentence would end up being stuck in her head for the rest of the day; it was something Jude thought about constantly. Picking up everything and just leaving, doing what she wanted to do for herself, not for others. It was selfish, but why could she not be selfish for herself? There was barely anything holding her down anymore. The look in her eye was steely - this was as serious as Jude could get, a surprising thing to witness before her usual wall of casual aloofness went back up. "You're a real lucky duck today then, huh? I give you my wisdom and my coin. At least breakfast is good." Her fork stabbed into strips of bacon that dripped with greasy, artery-clogging fat, and she shoved it happily into her mouth. Gotta enjoy what she's paying for. After eating their pile of breakfast, the day would be spent with windowshopping and more back and forth banter, heartbreakingly nostalgic for the redhead. She enjoyed it while it lasted. Jude was sure there wouldn't be many moments like this again - the gears in her head were slowly in motion, she knew she had to get away while she still could. --
The weekend arrived quicker than expected, because it was the next day, after all. Jude and her bandmates spent an hour or so as the day slipped into afternoon, packing whatever equipment they could into her crappy little Chevy. Shiloh's drumset was split between the trunk and backseat, along with bundles of wires and her bass carefully perched atop. Smaller things, like her stompboxes and other little doodads, were shoved in the footspace under the passenger's side seat. Dante and Shiloh eventually ended up lounging around in her garage while they went over what songs to play, sipping boozy lemonade and chiding Jude's nervous remarks in every other sentence. "This is gonna be dumb, they won't even like it!" To which, Dante retorted, "Jude, that's the first time I've ever heard you care about people liking us." Shiloh simply shrugged when Jude offered her a pleading look, fingers twisting her dreads into curls as she sat back in her leisure. She already knew why Jude was nervous, but wouldn't say that around Dante, bless his poor little heart. Toughest looking dude turned into a big softie when Jude was around. Of course, Shiloh knew everyone's drama and secrets. Soon, the sun was slipping down past the horizon, and Jude shook off her buzz with a couple water bottles to be ready to drive. They had to arrive a bit early to set up, she wasn't gonna drag their heavy equipment through a crowd of drunk teens, that was out of the question. Jake McNamara's house was a quick 10 minute drive halfway across town, and the jock opened the garage to let them unload their band stuff into the house. Furniture was either stashed into the garage or pushed against the walls to make room, string lights were hung on the ceiling for some good ambient lighting when people started arriving, and soon Shiloh's drumset and Jude's mic and their speakers were placed in their usual set up. By now, she was feeling kind of better about the whole ordeal, though still nervous. Still, she sent a Snapchat to Jonathon of their kickdrum with their band name 'EKUN' scribbled on in heavy thick sharpie, with the caption 'ready 2 get ur sh*t kicked in? you better'.

Jonathon had managed to score a ride with his friend Cooper that night, and Cooper's friends Morgan, Kaleb, and Ben. Jonathon couldn't help but laugh when he saw them roll up to his house wearing their matching football jersey's, but they simply retorted, "We do football, this is what we wear." It wasn't incorrect, but that didn't stop Jonathon from mocking them. The jocks, who were all considerably bigger than he was, all knew that Jonathon meant no harm. It was a part of his quirk to mock others - but it was, like, a loving mock. So when Jonathon replied with a "Well I play football but I don't wear my jersey everywhere" they laughed and gave him a shove.
Cooper began to pump the music loud as they drove towards Jake's house while Morgan and Kaleb were already beginning to crack open their cans of alcohol and get started early, Ben was nudging Morgan to pass him one. Jonathon laughed and kicked his feet up on the dashboard and rested his hands behind his head, a smirk quirked at his lips. It wasn't a long drive until they pulled up in front of the house. Other people were arriving, some were exiting their cars, some were streaming up the lawn, others were stopped in the front yard catching up before they went inside. Jonathon climbed out of the car and fixed up his black jacket, Cooper and the others hooted as they jumped out and headed for the door. Jonathon glanced around until his eyes honed in on a familiar red Chevy, it answered the question of whether or not he'd find a particular red-headed lady inside, and he proceeded to enter the house. Jake was one of those kids whose parents were rich, therefore he hadn't had to work a day in his life. The house was decked out with not only the latest technology, but also immaculate furniture and design. Jonathon noted that some people had already spilled some concoction of drinks on the carpet and he couldn't help chuckling.
He pulled out his phone and sent a message to Jude, hey i'm here, where u?
He had plenty of mingling to do, but plenty of time to do that. All night in fact. But he had a sense of wanting to make sure Judd was doing okay before he went off - although she reassured him she'd gone to plenty of parties before, he still felt like he wanted to make sure she wouldn't be running into any trouble from anyone. She was his friends... that's what friends did. They cared.
[ sorry for not replying! also just got a lil' caught up in life ^^' ]
