Bion smiled when Kia huffed. Even if it was just a shred of evidence, it was a sign Kai was getting better. A patient who talked back was much heathier than the patient who whimpered and cried. As a bonus, Bion enjoyed those more. Most of the time.
As he tucked the skin away, a hand grasped his wrist. Bion tensed, not use to the feeling. Human touch, especially heathy ones, was a bit like a faint memory. He resisted the urge to pull Kai off. The man would need to be led around until they were in the boat. Hopefully, Hermes had also fixed the man's eyes. Bion was slightly curious about them, now that he was thinking about them. He hadn't bothered to look at their color when he had bandaged the man.
He pushed away these thoughts when the shadows lengthened. "Can you walk on your own now? You will need to gain strength as fast as possible." He warned. Athens was a big place. Wherever he was suppose to deliver the man and the dagger to, he had no clue. They would have to walk around the city and Bion would not have the strength to carry or support Kai forever.

(Also I have the perfect character who is a runaway slave from Egypt ) Kai paused, taking a few hesitant steps, fingers still grasping onto the others wrist like a vice. "... I think I can walk on my own... If you could still lead me though that would be preferred." He responded softly, his speech beginning to sound a little more formal. Like that of a merchant. He shuffled forward again, the too big toga falling a little on the side and exposing an old slave mark that had been dashed through. A sign of the debt being paid for many in Athens. "Is the boat nearby? I want to get these off." He added with a hint of complaint in his voice. No longer scared and not as disoriented his normal personality was beginning to come out once more and his features feigned confidence. He didn't know this was supposed to be a good sign, just trying to do his best to not be dependent on this stranger. Plus he wanted out of this admittedly creepy temple. To be fair he had never felt comfortable in any but his fathers, always felt like he had been intruding, but roght now the feeling was even worse.

Bion noticed the old slave marking before. He might have not noticed the man's eyes, but the black tattoo was hard to ignore. It explained the odd accent Kai sported when he got worried or nervous. He would have to try better to cover it up next time. Even if the mark clearly showed he was no longer a slave, some many claim he was and the slash a fake. Bion made sure to move to the side in an attempt to cover the mark as they walked.
"Soon." He promised again, this time was a more serious undertone. The docks were a dangerous place. Sure, most Dockmen leaves strangers alone. However, they may not leave an obviously injured man with a slave marking alone. Might think they could get a reward if they "captured" him.
Negotiation was an art Bion had perfected. Sadly, most of the world also had some skill. The ship captain was very good and knew they needed this boat. It was clear when he looked at Kai then over at Bion was a smile. However, after a couple of honey laced words, he got them onto the boat with only a couple of silvers over what he thought they should pay.
Bion lead them underdeck. "Sit down. I'm going to take off your bandages now." He warned. He lead the man so the back of Kai's legs were against a box. He would start to work as soon as the man sat down. Bion suspected the other male wouldn't wait a second longer.
(Great! Do you have an idea for when to introduce him/her? )

Kai didn't seem too happy about the vague promise of soon. He was a man of exacts and being told soon didn't give him much to go off of. He only let out a soft sigh and nodded, releasing the wrist as the man switched sides, blocking the slaves mark that he had no idea was on him. His shoulder was as normal as he thought it was and he had no idea it needed to be hidden.
He kept quiet the way to the docks, clutching onto the man tightly when he heard more and more voices, overwhelmed with all of the noise. He was gasping quietly in anxiousness by the time they made it to a captain willing take them. He sounded like a kindly man, and was surprised by the honey coming from Bions voice, not yet hearing that voice yet himself. He'd only got the aggravated tone and the awkward one so far and maybe a part of him was jealous at that.
He sat down the second he was told to, wanting to get these off so he could see, dark brown eyes straining to see once more even if the infection setting in would render the dark pools of chocolate sightless. The claw marks were incredibly red and swollen, making his eyes shut and the infection had spread there too. The last image he could see was the blurred form of his "savior". His stomach churned a little at the moving of the boat but managed to keep down the Pita as he sat expectantly down, relieving his sore bones.

Bion gently undid the bandage around Kai's head. He pulled away the cloth. His slight smile turned into a frown. The area did not look any better than it had this morning. The wounds were still an angry red and his eyes still mostly shut. He could see a sliver of a deep chocolate brown hiding within the redness, but not enough. Not enough to see. Bion's eyebrows furrowed.
The healer gently turned Kai's face toward a beam of light. "What can you see?" He asked. His tone was calm and steady. If someone was really listening, they could hear a short note of pity. Grated, he had never seen a blind person. The whole staying away from fighting helped with that, but he knew about people. He knew the human body. He had the ache when something could not be fixed.
Of course, that never really stopped the man. He would do anything to prove his feelings wrong. This was no different. He released the male's face and started to dig around his bag. The poultice he had used earlier was still in his bag. Slather some more on and wait a couple of days, everything would be better. The son of Apollo should be able to fix a infection or two.

Bion tried to ignore Kai's reaction for the most part. Kai question was a shot to the heart. He couldn't ignore the damming words. The eyes, even wounded, should be able to react to light. Something should have happened. Frustration rose up from within the male.
He started to apply the medicine with a set determination. He hissed when Kai snap at him. It was the first time the other man had gotten really angry. He understood. Kai was in a strange place and maybe figuring out there was a possibility his eyes were not coming back. However, the son of Apollo was not going to stop. If he stopped, there was no way to stop Kai from loosing his eyes.
"It's medicine. It might make you feel better if you stop moving." Bion shot back. He applied the rest of the medicine with a straight face. He felt back about the burning feeling that came with the medicine, but there was no real way to stop it. This was the best combination of medicine with the supplies he had.
"Do you want to know about Athens?" He asked. Kai did ask about the city earlier, but with everything going on, Bio had forgotten the question or had answered it simply. Plus, this was a nice way to distracted the man and himself. Bion could use something to distract himself from the tiredness seeping into his bones.

Bion shuffled around Kai, making sure the wounds were cover thickly in the medicine. The wounds did not look better, but Bion knew they would feel better tomorrow after a good rest. He would feel better after a long rest. Bion quickly secured another bandage around the man's head, ignoring all protects.
He then settled down on a box. He crossed his legs and leaned back against the boat's wall. "Well, that is the issue. It's a big city full of all sorts of people. It's no Sparta, but still filled with people looking for a fight or extra hands. Even unwilling hands. You have a slave mark with a cross. Says your a free man, but those things rarely matter." Bion regretted his rushed words. He hadn't really thought about what he had said and worried it might cause the young male to panic. "I'm just saying you should stick close." It was only after they had escaped his mouth did he realize they were another set of useless words. He closed his aching eyes and sighed.
The cries of the crew told him they were pushing off. Off to Athens. The city of scholars and the rich. Every step was watched and calculated. Gods, tomorrow was going to be a long day. He wasn't even sure if he would be able to move tomorrow now that his body was starting to loose Hermes's boon. He certainly didn't want to run around the city looking for whoever the dagger belonged to. Bion slowly opened his eyes and took out the dagger. He lazily explored it.
Bion was no forge man, but the dagger appeared to be normal on all accounts. It was made nicely, he will admit that. The steel blade seemed to be still sharp and the handle appeared to be wrapped with quality leather. He looked over to Kai. "Open your hand." He said.

Kai frowned just a little when the other explained there was a slave mark on his shoulder... from the sound of it he was freed. There was some kind of cross that indicated he had finished his years of slavery. Debt paid. Apparently that meant nothing to the people on the city they were going to. It was a big one where there were plenty of people who would be willing to hold him a slave once more, freed or not it didn't matter, and that made Kai stiffen in fear all over again. He had no idea what it would be like to be sold into slavery once more, couldn't remember what his former owner was like, but the pit in his stomach warned him that it wasn't a good thing.
The other desperately tried to reassure Kai, who's back had straightened like a board and served to aggravate his scars, that he just needed to stay close. Frankly that was no reassurance because what could just one man do? Was he smart enough to outwit a city of people who wanted slaves to do their work? How was he supposed to get around if his eyes remained permanently damaged? That only made him a bigger target. "How will I not be noticed?" He finally croaked out as he motioned to his clearly injured body.
He wanted to swat away the bandages, complaining, and at least that distracted him for a short while. "If I cannnot see anyways why waste bandages on my face?" He grumbled, a pouring look on his face, before stiffeneing at the sudden shouts. They were headed to Athens. "Should we rest here, while we can?" He suggested, feeling terrible at all the questions before a smooth object was thrust into his hands.
Immediately they dropped down to feel what it was. Fingers skimmed over the thick leather that hid one button that Kai didn't dare press and then over the sharpened blade that could clearly do so much more than just stab someone. Not that he told Bion that. "A dagger." He murmured, sounding impressed at the handiwork.

Bion watched as Kai observed the dagger. The man seemed to know how to hold one. He then realized why Hermes must have given the dagger to them. "You can hold it for now. If someone grabs you and starts to drag, stab them." He said simply. There was slight smile on his face, but that was mostly because he felt clever for figuring out the reason behind the dagger. At least, he thought he did. Who knew what the god was actually thinking.
Bion rested his head against the boat's wall again as the sloshing started. He had intended to ignore Kai's questions, but shame filled him. He had the energy to answer a few questions. Hopefully, he remembered all of them. "The bandages will be there to prevent more infection. This way you can sleep on your side or touch your head." He said without opening his eyes. He said it as if reciting a line. Too many of his patients asked the same question. Well, onto the next question.
"You should rest but..." Bion stood up and moved around the cabin. The thin beams of sunlight didn't show much, but allowed Bion to navigate without too many stubbed toes. The man found a couple of extra clothes in a bag. After much digging, he managed to find a smaller toga. He tossed it onto Kai's lap. "Put this on. It's smaller and will cover your marking." Bion promised. The tired male then moved to another end of the boat to find the blankets he had seen earlier.

(Okay)
Kai had fallen asleep pretty quickly once his bandages had been set. He had ended up curling into a ball in one of the corners, larger toga covering him much like a blanket, his now better fitting one covering everything that needed to do so. An arm was stretched over his heavily bandaged face, the seas rocking movements slowly lulling him to sleep, and for awhile he rested peacefully.
Until a flash of a memory came to him in a dream.
Of course it was a dream of his twin being murdered by what could only be described as a Harpy. The leathery woman cackling triumphantly as she slashed at his brother and Kai was being held back by some male that was with them. He just knew that they were twins, he could see nothing but he just knew in his heart that he was looking at a mirror of himself. The last thing he saw before those deadly talons lashed at his eyes were Keanus wide and scared ones...
Kai started to thrash and scream in his sleep, kicking off the toga like it was the enemy itself, as if that could save his brother. His hands flailed desperately, the fact that he was stuck making everything worse, trying to fight even when he was unable to see. There was distress on his features as he was crying out in a foreign language, anger and pain in his voice.
(A lil short, I'm sorry!)

Bion shot away. The ship was rocking steadily and everything seemed to be at peace. Everything but Kai. He moved towards the man until he heard the strange words the man was spewing out. Bion retreated a couple of steps. While he was not versed in the language Kai seemed to be fluent in, he knew anger. Bion forced himself to wait. He couldn't risk getting hurt. Well, more like he didn't want to get hurt.
He changed his mind when some of the crew came to check of them. Most looked very annoyed and Bion wasn't feeling like paying an extra couple of coins for disturbances. Bion stepped up and tried his best to grasp at the swinging arms. A couple times, he managed to twitch out of the way. Once, he was not so likely. An open palm met his temple. He hissed as his face throbbed with pain. Once a safe distance away, He started to rub his face. Yeah, he wasn't going near the mess of limbs.
"Kai." He called, his tone remaining harsh and demanding. He glanced at the entrance to the underdeck of the boat. Thankfully, there wasn't any more stray eyes. "Come on. We are here." He hissed in a low voice.
(It's all good. )

Kai shot awake when he heard the harsh and demanding voice. His body was trembling a little as his dreams were chased away, leaving the tiny man gasping for air, staring down at his lap for a few moments. He still remembered his dream, and ti didn't take much for him to realize that it wasn't just that, that the dream was a memory. He had a brohter. A twin. One that was juts a little bigger than him with a mischievous grin that could rival Hermes. Someone he was so close to that they wouldn't speak words for days but knew exactly what the other was thinking as they worked side by side in... something. That part of his memory was blocked off and he was trying to remember it, grasping what it was like to actually see, feeling the pain of that being forever lost.
He hated it.
The demigod only looked up a little when told that they were here. Tears had soaked through the bandages on his eyes, making the small red stains a wide and diluted pink, stinging the wounds. He was trying his best to rub his stinging eyes but it was just making it worse. "I-It... W..We are here?" He repeated duly. "I can't hear all the people." He added quietly after a moment.

Bion had already started to collect all the things he could as Kai woke up. Judging by the looks like were given, they were expected to leave very soon. Bion didn't want to out live their welcome. The risk of wandering eyes were too much for his liking. A slip of cloth would be a very dangerous thing.
"Yeah, we are here." He said while taking Kai's wrist. he tugged on it lightly. He did understand that right now, Kai might like a couple moments to collect himself. His bandages could be taken off now. However, Bion couldn't give that time. They had to get out.

Bion made sure to send a quick smile at the captain. The male didn't return the favor. Bion huffed. So, it was all just an act. He was a bit offended that his words did not have a long lasting effect on the captain, but he supposed he wasn't exactly the son of Aphrodite. His life might be more easier though. it would involve less crew members following them. Bion frowned as he caught the sound of a couple extra footfalls following them off the dock.
"We have to keep moving." he said, tugging at Kai. He didn't look behind him. He could hear the telltale tight sailors' stride. They weren't rushing, which was a good sign. Bion could be just paranoid, but he couldn't stop. They couldn't fight and didn't have enough money to give up. "Move." He said, as they turned a corner. He turned another corner. There was a door ajar. Bion rushed in without thinking.
He closed it quickly and waiting. When the sound of footsteps was gone, Bion sighed. His first instinct was to get out of whatever building they had entered. He turned around to grab Kai's wrist only to stop when he registered their surroundings. Swords hung off the walls and spears were clumped in a corner. They could have walked into a storage. The extra iron and large forge made him think differently. Bion dropped his hand and moved around. His excitement was cut short. Yes, this as a forge, but the owners had not been here a while. Everything was too cold and damp for a fire to have been burning here every day. Bion got a sudden chill.
