sweetclover1 I couldn't think of a good title, so here is something. Rough plot; A god/demigod, muse a, has been disgraced. They did something to displease the gods. They find themselves without memory and/or power in a strange place. Another demigod, muse b, finds them and helps then get to the nearest town or something. Somehow, attacked or via god/ess, they find out muse a is a disgraced god/demigod, but the gods are willing to give back Their memories/powers if they complete tasks. --------- Bion was use to the relative quietness of the rolling hills. He had wandered down these roads alone many times before. His tanned olive skin was evidence enough of that. And, of course, it wasn't completely dead out here. There were still the birds and insects making their usual noises. The rustling of the trees as the winds filtered through their leaves didn't have Bion turning his head. He whittled away at the wood in his hand all the same. That was until he heard a thud. With smooth, practiced motions, he slipped the piece of wood into his bag and readied the knife. The male clenched the handle with adrenaline already coursing through him. His body tensed as his head swung left and right. No one seemed to be approaching. He thought his cheap cloth clothes would be enough to cover up his money. The possibility of the noise being one of a wild animal did occur to him. His was one of the less maintained roads between the city states. Poli was always a cheap city. He knew he shouldn't have come here. A couple of extra coins wasn't worth getting mauled. Another thud let him know just the direction the noise originated. He spun around, expecting a bandit or even a bear to be ready to strike. He didn't find a soul. Instead, there was a pair of shoes sticking out of some bushes. Bion tensed and his brown eyes narrowed, but he slowly approached. He hadn't heard or seen anyone following him from the city. No one lived around here. Bion didn't know where this man had come from or if this was a trap. still, he couldn't leave anyone laying on the side of the road. He would blame it on his Apollo blood later.

Kai had made the calculations but man was he bad at math. He had truly believed that he had time to try and seduce their target into giving them the needed information. He was horribly wrong and by the time he had realized this his twin was on the ground, bleeding out from horrible claw marks on his neck and chest, dying because of Kais plan. He had prayed to Apollo to heal him and at that time he'd been attacked himself. It had been so fast, wicked claws slicing his back and later his eyes as well, and he had to think fast. Thank the gods that he had brought some of their new machines along with their quest and he had barely enough time to pull out a simple ball like contraption that followed monster blood and exploded once close enough into millions of painful shards that could severely wound, if not kill, a creature.
At that point he had been whisked away to see their father, Hephaestus, who was already grieving at the death of his favorite son. He already blamed Kai for Keanu's death, asking how he could have been so careless, and decided that the Demigod needed to be taught a lesson. He was going to have to earn his powers back and most of his memories too. The memories would come back in time but he would have to go through trials to prove he was worthy of the gifts Hephaestus had bestowed upon him. So no more fire or control over mechanics, even if they would still be easier for him, that not being a power and more of a talent. On top of that he was being dropped in the middle of no where, still badly injured, features barely recognizable.
The wounds on his deep, tanned, skin were bad. The one on his back were bleeding out and looking infected and his eyes were puffy around the jagged claw marks. Bruises littered his body and all he was wearing was a torn toga that was stained with blood and dirt. His left ear was torn with another set of claw marks that were deep enough to scar. Half of his black hair had been shorn off by the attack but the rest was long enough to hit his shoulders. It would need to be cut to make sure his wounds weren't infected. His face was scrunched up in fear, even as he was unconscious, not knowing someone was there to help.

When Bion could clearly see the man, he winced. A bad reaction, perhaps, but an appropriate one. The wounds were clearly a day or two old. Whoever this was certainly took quite the beating. Bion figured it was either a rabid animal, or a very sick person. The damage done was bad; almost so much, he wondered if he would be able to fix it. Almost. The one thing he enjoyed about being a demigod was the healing perks that came with it. He hadn't found anything he couldn't fix, yet.
Of course, he wasn't about to leap to this man's rescue. He didn't know this person. It could have been a bandit who fought the wrong person. Maybe he stole money from old ladies or kicked puppies. Or whoever or whatever had done this to the man could still be around. Bion was not keen on laying next to the half-dead male. Plus, getting the right herbs and all the other supplies would make a considerable dent in his supplies. Nothing about healing his man would help him. Boin turned around, determined to keep walking. However, something nagged him. Told him to stop.
He inhaled, held the breath for a few seconds, then released. "Gods help me." he said before turning around.
The hours it took to drag the man to the nearest town were full of gasping and groaning. Convincing the local inn to grant them access was even more painful. He had tried not to cry when he handed over twice as many coins as he should have. After another couple hours finding and being ripped of by the local herbalist and healer, he finally found enough supplies to start working on the man.
"I swear, once you come back, you are going to have to pay every single coin back." He mumbled under his breath. He already cut down the man's hair and removed toga. A blanket was in place to protect Bion's eyes, though it was nothing new thanks to a couple side medicine jobs. He was just thankful the man's legs were fine. Bion had already washed and slathered on some foul smelling poultice on the man's face and ear. Both were covered up with a thick cloth. He was working on the back, sitting on the bed with the other male. With his feet, he kept the unconscious man in a sitting position and with his free hands, he wrapped another cloth around the torso until the wound disappeared. He sighed and laid the male down on his side. "No more turning." he said as sternly as possible before starting to clean up the room.

Kai was in rough shape, that much was clear, and the time in Olympus had made it so his wounds looked at least a day old at the least. He had been so weak that even when someone looked over him he didn't stir. Most times he would have been awake by now with his weapon in hand, lunging at whoever was near him in fear it was an enemy, but now he didn't even open his eyes. He was a pathetic excuse for a Demigod at this point, too weak to even fight his way to consciousness, and still bleeding out.
Luckily he was typically a good young man... sure he did steal every now and then when he was desperate or when a noble ticked him off but he always made sure what he stole came to good use. Keanu used to tease him that they were only half brothers, that there was no way that Kai wasn't a child of Hermes, but it was only because Kai firmly believed that rules had to be broken for the greater good. He didn't kick puppies, though, so at least he had that coming for him.
He only started to come to after the what seemed to be hours of being dragged around. It was when the salve touched his heated skin, burning him, and he let out a soft whimper in pain. His body slumped down lifelessly once the other was finished with him, mumbling in a foreign tongue for a few moments, slowly coming to and realizing something was covering his eyes so he couldn't see. He shouted in surprise, body shooting up as he flailed, hands scrambling to find where the clothe was but fumbling and unable to pull it off. He ignored the intense pain as he moved around, despite what the other Demigod told him not to do, flailing in panic because he couldn't see.

Bion did not have a said warrior's spirit. Or, as he would like to call it, he had experience enough to know to stand back from a flailing man. Getting whacked once, or twice, was enough to teach him. Instead, he stood back. He was hoping the man would calm after some fussing. After all, he had heard the man whimper while he was treating him. Bion had thought the other male knew what was happening and this was just fully waking up. What he did not realize was just how long the panic attack was going to last. At this rate, the hours and his money was wasted.
Bion approached just outside the range of the swinging arms. "Your eyes, as well as the rest of your body, is hurt. You are going to ruin my work and hurt yourself even more if you keep moving." He said simply and with a steady tone. He backed away as an arm came dangerously close. "Breath." He said again.

The soothing voice barely helped Kai calm down. The voice had barely registered to the tiny man. His body hurt so much and he couldnt figure out why he couldn't see or where he was. He finally tired himself out though, gasping as his body failed him, falling back onto the ground. He was trembling now, trying to recognize anything, like a familiar sound or scent.
"W-who are you?" He wheezed, a small amount of blood seeping from his wounds once again, holding his head lightly as the claw marks seemed to pulse every time his heart beat. This was almost too much for him to handle and he felt close to passing out once more. His tiny body was almost grey now from blood loss and pain. He was so weak that he couldn't fight the other nor try to look tough. He looked small and terrified, almost like a teenager, instead of strong and powerful like he usually did. "Where am I?" He added hoarsely, jaw clenching in pain.

With his words having no effect, Bion was forced to take a step back and watch. He had seen this before a couple times. Men and women alike has violent reactions to unknown situations. What could be seen on Bion's face was clearly unease. He didn't like the failing around. His heart sank every time he saw this, not matter how much he attempted to tuck away his emotions or distance himself. He never got use to the pain.
Once the man seemed calm and Bion recovered, he brought the clean water bucket up. Though the man did desperately need a wash, the water was not for cleaning. The man needed to recover some of the fluids he lost more than he needed to know where he was. "You are about to drink water." He stated simply. He waited a couple of seconds for the words to sink into the hurt man. Really, in his current state, he was surprised words could be mustered up. Though, speaking does not mean understanding. It would be truly impressive, and convenient, if the man could both speak and understand words.
"I'll answer your questions if you continue to drink." Bion lifted the man's head slightly. He tried not to think about how light and easy it was to move him. When he was dragging and bandaging him, the male seemed as heavy as someone should be. Now, he looked dangerously weak. Bion held a cup to Kai's lips and tipped the glass just enough for a trickle to pour in. He pulled away and waited for any sign of choking. "My name is Bion and we are staying in an inn. It is in the city-state of Abdera." He swiftly answered as he filled the cup with more water. "Ready for more?" He asked.

The fact that the other wouldn't give him answers set him incredibly on edge. His first thought was that he had been kidnapped and that was why no one was telling him anything. He said that he needed to drink before any answers were given and his lips pressed together in irritation. Sure, he remembered nothing, but that wariness of anyone and everyone was so embedded into him that he could no longer feel safe unless he was fully aware of his surroundings. Even then he felt a small amount of uncertainty, never having been truly safe, but right now he was beyond terrified.
He still wasn't fully processing everything and he didn't answer the man at the warning. His entire body flinched as the cup touched his lips and he started to thrash again, mind telling him that it was some kind of poison, but the water still managed to get into his mouth and at that he tried to swallow it. The water made him feel like he was choking as it coated his all too Try throat and he started to cough desperately, wondering if it was some horrid concoction, not the fact that his throat was so dry it couldn't even handle water.
He would have fallen to the ground once more if this stranger hadn't been holding him up to drink. His body was resting completely on what was propping him up and he was wheezing a little as he attempted to listen. The mans name was Bion... and they were in a city state? His features contorted in confusion but there wasn't much that showed that since it was bandaged up. "I... am not familiar." He wheezed out And shook his head when he was offered more water. Whatever it was had to be poison, why else would it burn going down? "No more... of that vile poison." He managed to cough out, voice a little faint as he attempted to sit up on his own, although his body had other ideas as he fell over to the side once more as dizziness hit him.

It was now that Bion had to admit to himself that his bedside manner may be lacking. With all the thrashing and coughing, it was clear the hurt male was only getting worse and more uneasy. It was to be expected. Bion knew everything about nursing someone back to health. He knew what they needed and how to give it to them. Something he would not admit was he had never actually nursed someone back to heal. Those he healed were promptly left once they were stabilized. Leave the family or table with the gaze and instructions before anyone got suspicious or before something else found them. it was always the moving game with demigods. Settling down was a forbidden art.
Bion watched the sad attempt to sit up with a frown. Why the man couldn't stop moving was beyond him. At this rate, he would ruin all of Bion's work. There was only one way Bion could think of to calm the male. "Well, I'm going to assume you mean with the city state and not my name. This city isn't exactly a large one, I'll give you that." He said, sitting down. It was clear now that he was going to have to work on trust. Even if he saved the man's life, apparently, that wasn't enough to warrant any kind of trust. He sighed and then scrunched up his face as he tried to remember what was around the small city-state. "It right off the coast of the sea. There is a ship that will take you to the bigger cities like Sparta and Athens. It is still in Greece, if you're really disorientated."

Bion huffed, the frown on his face only growing deeper. His patience was thread thin and threating to snap at just the movement and questions this man kept going on about. the whole situation was wearing him down. Not remembering what Greece is was a pretty big problem considering it was one of the most well-known countries around the land. It was just his luck he would get stuck with the only man who didn't have a clue where he was. Bion would admit he was feeling quite tired, so this did greatly factor into his dwindling focus and calmness. This fact did not hold back the snap in his voice.
"Fine. You won't be able to see much, but fine." He muttered as he began to undo the bandage around the man's head. He still tried not to move the cloth too much. The wounds already hade a high change of infection, they did not need to be irritated more. But, on closer inception, Bion noticed crimson was already staining the once grey rag. He did not want to see the back of the man.
"There you go." he said, once the cloth was in his hands and away from the other man's head. Bion backed away to retrieve some new gauze and medicine. As he was searching through his bag, he spoke, "There is a window you can look out of. We have a good view of the town. Really the only thing we have going for us." The room was really just an attic used to store supplies and other extras. It smelled musty and was short, but a room all the same. Bion might pull out his hair or curse if the man mentioned anything negative about the room.

Kai couldn't help but wince a little when he heard the irritation in the other mans voice. He let out a tiny whimper when the clothe was moved away from his eyes, the moving cloth irritating his already sensitive skin, not realizing he was bleeding badly. His back stiffened as he tried to open his eyes and realized he could see... nothing. Everything was blurred and looked red and he couldn't even make out the larger man who was apparently taking care of him. All he could see was a blurred figure who was wandering around the room that they were in.
"Wh- I can't see!" He exclaimed in alarm as he tried to look around. His tiny body was shaking as he stared at Bion with fear in his marred features. Even with the claw marks making it hard to see what he was feeling he was so scared that it showed. He was shaking as he stopped trying to pull the cloth off of him, hands falling down to his lap, his lips pressed against each other. He didn't move from his original spot, not seeing the point of looking at the window if he couldn't really see, trying his best to listen and try to hear what he could to give him a hint of where he was.
"Why does it smell so strange here? Is that... is that normal?" He was totally lost and sounded like a tiny child at this point. He was so confused that he was lucky he'd remembered how to speak Greek. His shoulders hunched forward as he tried to calm down,'so scared that it wasn't helping much, but at least he wasn't flailing around as much anymore.

Bion looked over and blinked. The wounds were close to the other male's eyes, but didn't think they were close enough to cause any damage to the eyes. This was a bit more concerning to the male. It was just the trauma of the wounds, probably, but the man was shaking like a leaf in a windstorm. Finally, Bion was starting to see just how hurt the small male was inside. Bion closed his eyes and inhaled. It was only know that he realized he had been nothing but angry and rude to the other male. All of his actions only caused the tiny thing to become more panicked. Shame forced him to calm down. He did a long but shaky exhale.
Slowly, the male stood up and approached the other. He made sure not to make any sudden movements. He froze for a second at the mention of the smell. He took another deep breath to calm the spike of anger. He moved again once he had gotten himself under control. He tapped the male's hand before taking it. "I'll lead you to the window for fresh air." He said, the notes of anger now replaced with awkwardness. Bion didn't like to admit it, but he felt bad about the last couple of minutes. He had been acting like a child. Grated, the other male wasn't exactly acting like an angel, but he was hurt and afraid. Bion was just tired.

(TBH I'm considering him getting an infection and going blind as a part of his punishment.)
Kai looked up when he heard the steps, unsure what this stranger was going to do, gasping a little at the tight feeling in his chest. His body tensed as his hand was tapped gently, letting him know that he was going to lead Kai to the window for some fresh air. He swallowed at that, confused as to why there was a sudden change of attitude, not hearing any anger in Bions voice anymore. If anything there was a hesitancy or awkwardness and it made Kai relax for a fraction of a second. The continuous shaking still as he grasped onto the others hand and allowed himself to be lead to the window.
The moment that they stopped he grasped onto the window, gasping as he tried to breath in the fresher air, his panic slowly subsiding and turning into a slight discomfort. His body was aching from the deep scratches and all he wanted to do was curl up and try to sleep off the pain. "Th-thanks." He uttered quietly as he ran a thumb over the dusty window. He could hear the ocean now and a few snippets of conversation, shoulders relaxing as he tried to take a deep breath and try to think objectively. It was hard to when he knew nothing of himself, in fact if Bion asked him, he would have panicked once he realized the only thing he remembered was the name Kai.

{Sounds interesting. Pretty cruel of the gods. ) Bion nodded when the male thanked him. It took him a second to remember the man couldn't see. "No problem." he quickly replied, feeling a bit late. He almost cursed at himself afterwards. Instead, he silently cursed at the gods. They had some part in this for sure. Maybe they were mad that Bion wasn't going around completing tasks for them. Apollo never seemed to visit him, but the gods were unpredictable as can be. This has to be punishment for something. Bio just needed to figure out why.
"So, do you remember anything?" Bion asked, his wording unintentionally blunt. This man had to be the key. Perhaps he was someone from Bion's past or someone who had done the gods wrong. Bion could be trying to heal a man someone wants dead. Well, they did do a good job. In his current condition, the male might not live.
{It's short and ugly. Don't judge this post too much.}

A wall? If anyone else heard it, they would just assume the male was a bit delirious still. Bion knew a wall sounded too specific. Sounded like something one of the gods would set up. It wasn't a hard leap in his mind with the gods already on his mind. Though there was a slight unease that came with this conclusion.
Bion tried not to step on the toes of the gods. Every time something happened with them, he would try to get as far away as possible. He didn't like deathly tasks. The rewards never seemed to be worth the cost. Plus, he didn't really have much fighting power. A good aim? Check. A heart and mind for battle? No check there. It was easier to stay out of the way than deny a god's quest. No god likes being denied.
"I think I know of a place to go." He said, slowly and not facing the injured man. Lying had never been his strong suit. He didn't want to go to the shine, but he knew he had no choice. Kai couldn't be let out to wander. The man could barely stand. He needed a place close to the gods were he could recover. Then, Bion needed to get as far away as possible.
(I'm thinking either Bion could try to take Kai to a shrine of one of the gods or something happens, maybe an overheard conversation, and Kai remembers a place he needs to go. We could have events along the way that might also help him recover his memories without the help of gods. )

Yeah, sounds good. Skipping also sounds good. )
Somehow, Bion had managed to get the man out of the inn. Really, getting down the stairs was a challenge in itself. The dirt road was a bit tricky, but not too bad. The people looking was more annoying than the terrain. Most understood were he was going, but not many could look away. Bion did his best to glare at the people who looked a little too long.
He frowned when the Hermes shine came into view. They also had a Poseidon on in the area, but there was no way Bion was stepping foot in there. He would rather knock on the little man's door than one of the big brother's. Plus, Hermes was the god of travel. Maybe could tell were Kai had traveled or help him heal up. If the god didn't, then the priests might.
"And there are stairs." Bion warned as they walked up the three steps to the temple. It was a meager one. The inside could hold only a handful of people and there was a couple of benches to rest on. Surely, there were some beds in the back as well. He heard footfalls on the stone and sighed. There must be a priest in here. Thank the gods. Bion would feel bad if he had to leave Kai alone. "Hermes, you have someone who wishes to rest in your walls." Bion whispered. It was more of a joke for himself than a message for Hermes. Well, he wishes it was purely a joke. He was really asking more for permission, though he knew the god wouldn't bother.

(Okay! Also Kai is from a small, coastal village not unlike this one. But his mother was from a family of travelers so as a you kid he was with her moving around. She was formerly a slave, and so were Kai and Keanu, but they worked off their debts by the time the twins were twelve and after that they traveled as merchants until a year ago when he settled down with his brother in Athens where they had a forge.)
Getting out of the inn was a lot harder than expected. Kai barely had time to rest and recover and suddenly they were walking again. It was terrifying, hearing all of the people and the whispers, and not being able to see it. Behind the cloth his facial wounds were already red and swollen, his eyes now shut and he was unable to see out of them at all if he tried, but he didn't know any of this since the wrappings had already been put back onto him. He just didn't feel well and was completely overwhelmed with the voices, grateful they weren't in a huge town like Athens, because he would have totally freaked out with so many people around. He could practically feel the eyes on him and they burned.
His heart was pounding out of his chest as he clutched onto Bion fearfully. He was almost relieved when they reached a place that had stairs because they had to be close to somewhere he could hide away from the eyes and relax and heal. He no longer had his shoes- they were broken anyways- and his bare feet hit the first step and he stumbled. He swore in pain as he stopped, lifting his foot gingerly for a few moments, before continuing on.
"... Hermes?" He asked quietly, voice hoarse, not sure about the name. Again it rung no bells and he wasn't sure why he talked out loud. He could feel the cool, slightly stale, air of a building f and at that he slumped to his knees. He just felt so weak and didn't feel like he could walk much longer. He rested his bandaged head against the other mans legs, breathing quietly, attempting to rest while he could.

Bion was relieved when they manage to get inside before Kai collapsed. He had tried to slow the fall but it was a lost cause. The male just slipped out of his arms onto the floor. At least he remained conscious. It was clear, however, that the other man was not getting up. As much as Bion wished they could, they had to move from the entrance and escape the wandering eyes and loose mouths.
Lifting the male up was easier than before and it worried Bion to no end. Truth be told, he never had a person die under his care. While silently annoying, Kai didn't seem to be an awful person. Not someone who deserved to die. Bion light set down the male on a bench. "Sit down or lay down. Just make sure you do not put pressure on your back." He warned.
"Now, we are in the Hermes's temple. Hermes is a god. God of travelers to be exact. They will take care of you better than I." The lie soured his tongue. He had to stop and try to convince himself he was telling the truth. While their medicine at the temple was nothing as good as his, they weren't constantly moving. Kai would get good rest here. Something he could not get with Bion. Yes, this was the right thing to do.
"I'm going to find the priest. He will help you." He said before looking around. I was surprising the ma had not appeared yet. Then, he remembered the offering. Nothing would be done if an offering was not given. Most priests and priestesses said it was to please the deities. However, Bion was not convinced. He had seen too many plump men and women for this to be completely true. Still, he wasn't about to fight the matter now.
The man made his way over to the stature of Hermes. The bowl at his feet was filled with little trinkets and a couple coins. These were most likely from travelers wishing to have a safe journey. Someone wanting help would have to pay a lot more. The thought had Bion huff. He dropped a good bundle of coins into the bowl. "Keep Kai safe." He said unceremoniously.
The second the metals hit the clay, the air became still. A heavy presence surrounded the temple. Bion backed away. For the first time in a long time, he felt true fear. He buckled slightly as he backed away from the alter. He looked to Kai to see if he had realized.
(We can take turns coming up with tasks and rping the gods. I'm not really sure how the god/esses should appear? I'm thinking they either possess their priest/esses or come in human form. Do you want me to take the first one? I kinda have an idea for a task. It will either be finding a lost traveler, aka a slave who is trying to escape, or going to deliver something in Athens. )

(Yeah I would say possession, and could you do the first quest? I like the idea tbh. Maybe if they go to Athens they discover Kais old workshop?)
Kai was gasping a little as he stayed near the man. He just needed a few minutes of rest but apparently he wasn't getting it. The small man was lifted easily into the other demigods arms, he really was barely a hundred and twenty five pounds at this point, not underweight for his size but all in all he was a startling small young man. He let out weak cry of protest as pain wracked his body once again, grasping onto the cloth, trying to avoid the pain. It was just so much right now...
Not long after he was settled on what he thought was a bench and was instructed to sit or lay down. Just not put so much pressure on his back. He slid onto his side eventually, gasping for air, in worse condition than he had been in the beginning. He was happy that the other had found him, it really was a miracle, but he'd been feeling worse and worse ever since he had gained consciousness.
This stranger... Bion... was explaining something to him. Hermes was a god... one for traveling? His features scrunched up in confusion. How could a guy who patched him up not know as muc of a god of travel? It was traveling god and not a healing one... his hands reached out desperately to grab onto the strangers cloak but only met air.
"N..no. No don't leave." He pleaded desperately when he heard the heavy thud in what he had to assume was an alter and heard the simple prayer to take care of him. He wasn't going to leave him alone, was he? That couldn't be happening... he didn't know the stranger of course but the thought of being left alone was terrifying. He somewhat trusted the man who patched him up, at least knew he wasn't going to be hurt by him, how did he know that the others wouldn't? He didn't and the thought made him panic.
Suddenly the air changed... it became thick... it was like fingers had wrapped around his thrust and he couldn't breath. He let out a panicked gasp as his hands went to his throat, wondering if it was just him, and the change of temperature scared him into being unable to breath. "Wh-what's going on?" He cried out in terror. He'd never experienced being in the presence of a god, or if he did he couldn't remember it anymore. Now he was just a pathetic and scared man who would die by the night time if he didn't get serious medical attention and fast.

Bion frowned when the man started to panic again. He had secretly hopped the man had passed out by now. No one, especially if they weren't demigods, should experience a god's presence. Most morals would pass out. Bion felt a tingle of respect for the tiny male for staying awake, even if he was crying out in terror. The respect was tainted with slight annoyance as Kai started to struggle. He did not have enough cloth to re-bandage the man.
The sound of footsteps caused Bion's head to snap towards the back of the alter. A young, fit man moved out from the shadows. His toga and body type told Bion he was the priest at this temple. Hermes always did like them young and fit. However, it was the eyes that told Bion the priest didn't have control of himself. The priest's brown eyes were steady. They held Bion's gaze and spoke of experience a young man could never have. Years on the roads, smooth and rough, had shaped those eyes. This was Hermes.
People around Hermes were suppose to feel a surge of energy. All the energy Bion was receiving was coursing through his body to his legs. His mind told him to run. He held himself back. Bion straightened up to full height and raised his chin, even as fear still coursed through the man. He was going to face the Gods like he would face any other man. Nothing would make him cower.
When the god turned his gaze to Kai, something flashed in his eyes. Something Bion could not identify before it was gone. Bion felt a tinge of worry. Then, the god looked back at Bion. A smirk grew on his face, as if amused by Bion's act. For a second, Bion considered running again. However, he knew he could not leave Kai here, if it was even possible to leave.
"You will make a delivery for me to Athens." Hermes told Bion. A dagger appeared in Bion's hands. There was no haughtiness in the god's tone. Only amusement colored his words. It reminded Bion of when children were telling a joke and they couldn't wait to tell the punchline. Hermes didn't seem to want to give up the punchline however. The god waited.
Bion nodded.
Hermes looked to Kai again, as if musing over something. He looked back at Bion. Bion could feel his patience thinning. "I will give your friend some strength for the journey in return for your service." He simply added. Before Bion could bother with a simple thank you, the god was gone. The heavy atmosphere was lifted and Bion let out a breath he had held. He checked on Kai again.
(Maybe the dagger could be Kai's or his brother's? I dunno. It could also be some random dagger. I figured Hermes really liked messing with people/gods so it would be a perfect thing for him to do. )

(Ooh yeah. Maybe it's one of the brothers inventions, so it can do more than just stab. It could be sent to the runaway to help them?)
Kai couldn't breath. He was struggling and any energy given to him because of the presence of a god only served to fill him with anxiety. He was ready to scream in terror but he couldn't... he couldn't get a breath in and the only reason why he had yet to pass out was because he had better breath support than a mortal.
His body was wracked with shivers as he heard the smooth voice of a creature who had lived for eons. That was no priest. There was a wisdom in the deep tones, a faint amusement, like any human antics were funny to the creature. No doubt this Hermes had been around so long that humans were nothing more than a source of amusement to them at this point.
That was more terrifying than facing an angry God.
At least with Anger one knew what to expect... a punishment and a painful one at that. If Kai had known any better he would have put two and two together and realized that he had already been punished. Being thrown in the middle of no where with no powers nor memory along with life threatening injuries was no doubt a punishment. It wasn't one of their worst ones but it was enough to makes someone's life completely miserable. His stomach was starting to churn when Hermes turned their attention to Kais terrified and writhing figure.
Within moments he was feeling better. Not amazing but he was better than he had been. His wounds didn't heal completely, but the nasty ones on his backs scabbed up just enough for Kai to be able to move long distances. They could easily reopen but, hey, Hermes only promised to lend him some energy. The god said nothing about healing him completely. The wounds on his face had become red and swollen, not bleeding, but the infection had set in deeply. A small amount of energy had given him the strength to sit up, gasping fearfully, unsure what was going on.
"Wh-what..." his voice faded uncertainly, not sure what had just happened. Was everyone okay? What did the other have in his hand?

Maybe they could find the runaway hiding in the abandoned forge? If we want, that character could become part of their journey/quests. I dunno how you feel about rping multiple characters. If not, we can have her/him be delivered to a temple and they can become a priest/ess. They can have a mini fight with the people who want the slave back and find out the dagger can do different things that way. Kai can instinctively know. Just an idea though. Tell me if I'm planning too much. )
The priest was quick to scuttle off back into the temple once Bion sent him a glare. Right now, he didn't need another voice to confuse or panic Kai. Bion tucked the knife away in his pouch before approaching Kai. He figured Kai hadn't caught most of the conversation, if Hermes had even allowed the other to hear him. He approached the other man with all intent to tell him the priest would care for him. Then, he realized Hermes must have healed the man so Bion could bring him along. otherwise, Hermes would have just promised Kai would be safe while he healed. The something that needed delivering must be Kai. The dagger was probably just to through Bion off and make the god feel tricky.
Gods, he hated gods.
"We are going to Athens." He said simply. Now, even if a god order it, Bion wouldn't take anyone anywhere against their will. First, Bion didn't have the energy for such things. Second, it was a terrible thing to do. Slaves had always made Bion's skin crawl, even if he did nothing against the act. He waited for the other male to respond while looking around the temple.

"About a half a day's journey." He answered the first question just before the second question was asked. The suggestion had heat rising to the young male's face. He really hoped the male meant the bandages and not the spare toga he had on. They might have "borrowed" that from the innkeeper, so there wasn't anything to replace it with. "No, you can not take off the clothes. You have to keep them on." He gently pushed Kai's fingers away from the toga.
Approaching footfalls drew Bion's attention. The priest seemed to have a small smile on his lips, no doubt had witnessed Kai's embarrassing request. The tips of Boin's ears were surly red now. The priest approached the two and placed a bag in Bion's hand. He said nothing as he retreated back. Bion allowed himself to watch the priest leave. He felt a bit disappointed when Kai's question dragged his attention away from the other male.
"Soon." Bion responded. He searched through the bag until his fingers found something soft. He was happy when he pulled out the pita bread. The bread was bland and a bit stale, but that is what made it perfect traveler's food. He tore it in half. He poked Kai's hand with one half. "Food. Hermes might have given you strength, but you need something in your belly." He simply said.

Kai honestly did mean the bandages, simply forgetting the word for it, so he thought that the other would have understood. Apparently he didn't though and the young man could hear the embarrassment in the others voice. That feeling was beyond him, because he had no concept of why that was embarrassing, and he frowned just a little as his fingers were pried from the toga.
"But... they don't hurt anymore." He protested, raising jos hands to the bandages over his eyes. Henjust wanted the uncomfortable bandages off of his body. What was so wrong about that? Unfortunately Kai wouldn't take off his bamdanges until this person said so. Something told him to listen carefully to the other instead of just tearing them off. He felt quiet when the second pair of footsteps came towards them again, reaching forward and grasping for the toga again, searching for some sort of comfort bedausenje didn't know if this was friend or foe.
He felt something poke his hand and he grasped it immediately. He was told this was food and he gave a simple nod before lifting it to his mouth and nibbling on it hesitantly. It was dry and bland... but Kai had never had any food he could remember so he thought it was good. He chewed it slowly before swallowing. "Wh...what is it?" He asked when he coughed on the dry food, throat too dry to handle it without wine or water.

"I'll look under your bandages once we get on the boat." He promised. Bion looked outside he temple, making sure there was sill enough daylight to catch a boat. They had to be there by midday. Most boats, however skilled their sailors, would not take night rides. Greece had too many rocky islands for such things.
When Kai coughed, Bion reached for the water he had brought along. he had wanted to infuse herbs into the liquid, but figured after the first water incident, it wasn't a good idea. Plan water was still better than no water. Bion uncapped the container then poked the other man's free hand. "Water." He told the other male. He leaned back once the man had grasped the pouch.
"It is pita bread. Usually served with a mystery meat, vegetables, and some sauce. It is pretty plain without anything." He said. To him, the pita bread tasted awful. It was like eating soft wood. Someone must have donated the bread to the temple, not wanting to eat it themselves.
Once finished, Bion collected everything and stood up. He was feeling better, but was sore and tired. He could tell he wouldn't really have much energy once he reached the boat. Hopefully, they would have somewhere soft to sleep. the money they had left, Bion suspected they would have to deal with the ground. "Are you ready?" He asked Kai.

Kai let out a soft huff when told that his bandages would be checked once they made it to the boat. Sure, it was a short while, and he could easily wait but Kai was anxious to be able to actually see. Little did he know that wasn't going to be something he would be able to do. The infection had set in his eyes, another punishment from his father, leaving him completely blind. Who knew if he would have mercy on his already hurting child or not.
He grasped the water desperately when the pouch was given to him and sucked at it. He coughed a little but managed to keep it down this time. He was drinking it now like he had never had water before. He'd drunk half of the skin once he finally stopped for a breath. This time it didn't taste like poison and he was enjoying it for the time being. "Th-thank you." He murmured as he lifted the skin up in the air to give it back to the healer.
Then he started in on the bland food he had been given. He tore off small bits to nibble on just so he wouldn't end up coughing on the dry food once again. "This is... bland?" He tried out the word. It really was like caring for a child who was totally new to the world. "I don't think I mind a bland." He decided firmly as he finished up the food.
"How long do we need to walk?" He finally asked as he stood slowly, confused at not feeling horrible as he did so, reaching out and grasping the travelers wrist. He had been hoping for the toga and was shocked when he got the wrist. He was anxious to get going, wanting the bandages off as soon as possible, missing his sight even if he couldn't remember what it looked like.
