Stormstrike knew he wasn't the best hunter, but that didn't stop him from feeling disappointed whenever he failed to catch something. Maplebreeze and Willowstorm were both better hunters than him. Willowstorm was probably the best out of the three siblings. Maplebreeze was somewhere in between, decent at both fighting and hunting. And Stormstrike? Well, he was more of a fighter than anything. It showed in his scarred pelt and rippling muscles. So he didn't really respond to Cherrywhisper's words, knowing that he just had to improve his skills. Some of the new warriors and Apprentices hunted better than him and that's what Stormstrike considered a problem. The dark gray tom watched as she crouched down low in pursuit of her prey. While he was normally a competitive cat, he found himself silently urging her on. Maybe it was because she wasn't as arrogant or obnoxious as some of the cats in their clan, but Stormstrike found himself really wanting the best for her. He held his breath when he saw her leap after the pigeon, but he released it when he saw her deliver the killing blow. He had a bit of a smile on his face when she returned with the bird and then he looked at the pile of prey they'd managed. "Should we head home before there's too much to carry?" he asked. "I'm not sure we need to be counting it up to see who won," he added playfully. Stormstrike knew that Cherrywhisper had won, but he also planned on assigning her to the dawn patrol anyway - it'd be a pleasure to have her accompany him. He also planned on dragging Sedgepaw along. Maybe one of the other mentor and Apprentice pairs as well... He'd have to see who's available. He grabbed as much of the prey as he could carry and waited for Cherrywhisper to grab the rest. ashfeather

Fogkit pressed close to Mistykit, wishing he could make her feel better. He hated seeing his sister act so unlike herself and wanted to ask Jackdawstar if they could go see Willowstorm. Maybe that would make his sister feel better. But he didn't. There had to be a reason that Jackdawstar hadn't allowed them to go visit. What if she was hurt? Or dead? Fogkit couldn't imagine life without his mother, but it was very possible with how the dog that swung her around before dropping her. He huddled closer to both Jackdawstar and Mistykit. "Really?" he asked, his eyes shining. He didn't even duck away when Jackdawstar licked him, which he usually tried to do if one of his parents licked him. "I can't wait to see her. I'm gonna apologize and promise her that I'll never not listen again!" That was a big promise, but he sincerely meant it... At least right now. He didn't want anyone else to get hurt because of him. To distract himself, Fogkit decided to question Jackdawstar about a few other things since he never got to see the leader in private like this. "Hey, Jackdawstar, what do I have to do to be leader someday?" he asked, eyes wide and sparkling. "I wanna be the greatest leader this clan ever had! Mistykit and I are having a contest to see who will be leader one day," he said, nudging his sister to see if he could get her distracted and in the conversation as well. *** Willowstorm nodded, her eyes still closed. She wasn't sure she'd opened them at all during the conversation, just trying to calm herself down with the feel of his fur against hers and the calming sound of his voice - even if it was more pained than usual. "Jackdawstar... I need to talk to him when I'm feeling better. To thank him. If he hadn't been there when he was..." she trailed off, remembering the feeling of the dog's jaws closing around her leg, imagining those same jaws on her neck or head and then moving to her poor babies... the thought made her let out a small whimper. "I don't know what I'd do without you," she whispered. She finally opened her green eyes and looked at her mate. Her eyes were full of emotion as she buried her face in his fur. She still didn't know what she'd do if she couldn't be a warrior, but she would make sure that she could still leave camp sometimes. Being stuck here would drive her crazy. aether

JACKDAWSTAR, MISTYKIT | Nursery | Fogkit
Jackdawstar admired Fogkit's determination and he couldn't help but smile at the small tom. "I'm sure she'll appreciate that," he meowed, unsure of how true the kits words would be after the situation had blown over. Then he was caught slightly off guard after his curious question about being a leader. Jackdawstar smiled sheepishly, but responded the best he could. "To be a leader, you obviously have to be become a deputy," he began, "to do that, you need to have atleast mentored one apprentice, and then proven yourself to be a reliable and loyal warrior. You have to work hard every day and put your clan forward before yourself to be a deputy. Then one day, if the leader sadly joins StarClan, you become the leader." He explained.
Mistykit's ears had flicked with interest and she raised her head, and she looked at Fogkit. "I'll be a leader," she said in a tiny voice. She looked measly and small right then, but that couldn't stop her determination. "I boss Fogkit all the time, so I'm sure I could do that same for the clan," she added.
Jackdawstar smirked. That wasn't quite what he had meant when he talked about being the deputy, but he was glad to see the little she-kit raise her head and talk. "Does you boss you, Fogkit?" He asked with amusement.
KESTRELCLAW | Medicine Cat Den | Willowstorm
Kestrelclaw nodded to his mate. He had to take a moment to take some deep breaths, to bury his face into her coat and take in her scent. Her scent had a hint of herbs to it, which it never normally did, but that was the only giveaway that something was wrong. Otherwise he could forget momentarily about the reality of the situation. If only I'd been there... that was all he had, 'if only'. He wished with all his heart that he could have stayed in camp, or that he could have been the one to have been attacked. Willowstorm didn't deserve the injury, she had so much to go back to when she was warrior again. He rose his head when she looked at him, trying his best to muster up his strength, but the tom looked defeated. "I don't want to think about anything without you," he murmured back, then leaned forward to touch his nose to hers. "You aren't gone though, you're here." He had to say that to soothe himself just as much as her. "We'll still go on patrols, and still go out hunting. I'll walk with you to the Big Park and the Fountain so that you can get out of camp sometimes," he began grooming her ears and neck, hoping to soothe her. "We do it all together."

"I know she will!" Fogkit exclaimed. "I'll be the best kit ever and I won't ever let anyone else that I love get hurt like that." It was a big promise to keep, but he planned on doing it. After all, Stormstrike had made that same promise when he was only a little older than Fogkit. Up until Willowstorm's injury today, both of his sisters remained safe. If Stormstrike could do it, Fogkit could do it too. At least, that's what the small gray kit liked to thinks Fogkit nodded at his instructions. "I can do that!" he said before tilting his head. "When Stormstrike dies, who are you gonna pick to replace him?" he asked. Then added, "Or if you die, who do you think he'll choose as his deputy?" The questions were a little morbid, but he was one curious kit. Fogkit perked up when Mistykit responded and he decided to keep teasing his sister to keep her interested in the conversation. "But I'm the smarter one and you have to be smart to be the leader, right?" He asked Jackdawstar. "Plus Fogstar sounds a lot better than Mistystar." He nudged her playfully once again. Helping his sister's mood was helping him as well. *** "I'm here. I'm not gone," Willowstorm repeated, as if she couldn't believe it. She truly had believed that the dog was going to kill her. It had showed no signs of mercy as it swung her through the air and she thought hat she'd never get to see her mate or kits or brother or sister or friends ever again, and that had been hard on the friendly she-cat. It seemed almost unreal that she was alive. She nuzzled Kestrelclaw, moving as close to him as she could without bothering her injuries too much. Besides the leg, she had a few cuts and scrapes, but nothing major. "If I can never be a warrior again," she began. The words pained her because being a warrior was her life. She enjoyed being a mother, but her job as a warrior was who she was. She refused to give up all hope and continued to say 'if'. "I'll do everything in my power to help my clan and my family and I promise that going out on walks with you will always be the highlight of my day." It seemed like a sad life, but Willowstorm realized that she could very possibly face hat life. (By the way I'm heading off to bed now) aether

JACKDAWSTAR, MISTYKIT | Nursery | Fogkit .
Jackdawstar became sheepish at Fogkit's rather morbid questions and decided to stop him there, "I, er, don't know. That's a question for when the time comes - you don't want to be thinking of bad things that may happen," he meowed to the tom.He knew the kit had the best of intentions, so he didn't mind it. Jackdawstar glanced to Mistykit, feeling relieved at the fire that came alive in her eyes when Fogkit said he was smarter, and his name sounded better.
"No!" She squeaked in her defense, her tiny body had stopped trembling now. She stamped her little paws and puffed out her chest, "I'm smarter - and faster, and stronger!" She leaped forward onto Fogkit to start gnawing at his ears, as if trying to prove her point.
Jackdawstar almost sighed in relief seeing this, he swept his tail off them and back around his own paws, watching with warm yellow eyes. He was glad they weren't his kits, that was for sure!
KESTRELCLAW | Medicine Cat Den | Willowstorm
It was time for him to only think about Willowstorm. He was still upset about his absence when he was needed most, but he would have to put that aside if he truly wanted to get past it. He continued to groom her with long, gentle strokes of his tongue. A soft purr rumbled in his chest as he did so. He decided to look at the other side of the situation. "You're so brave," he murmured. As much as he wished he could have been there, he also felt his heart grow with more love for his mate at the thought of her putting her life on the line of their kits. "It is only because of you that Fogkit and Mistkit are still here..." speaking of which, he wondered if he should fetch the cheeky little kittens. Then he decided against it - she still needed to rest. "Thank you," he nuzzled his nose into her fur.

DarkpawDarkpaw listened to her intently. He stopped dead in his tracks when she asked him what he wanted to prove- he had never thought about what exactly his role in the Clan was. He mulled over the question in his head- perhaps he could be a good fighter? No, that was almost out of the question. He wasnβt even built for that sort of thing anyway. A hunter? Well, he would be if he wasnβt as faint-hearted as he was- something about that snap to the neck he had to give unsettled him although he wasnβt quite sure why. A healer? No, there was already an apprentice for that, and besides he wasnβt very good at remembering what so-and-so herb did what (even though his grandmother seemed to have tried to instill the knowledge in him as a kit, all he could remember was that poppy seeds did... something and that yew berries are deadly). So what was he good at? βThe only thing I know I can do well is run and hide from danger- and when would anyone ever need that?β He hated to sound like such a pessimist, but he felt his sentiment was true.

Fogkit looked slightly disappointed at Jackdawstar's refusal to answer his questions, but then he turned to Mistykit. He was glad to see that he'd gotten his sister back to her normal self - at least, for now. He knew that might go away when they saw their mother, but he could only hope that she was in good enough shape that Mistykit wouldn't start blaming herself again. "I'm bigger! And stronger!" Fogkit argued. When Mistykit attacked him, he turned and scooted out from underneath her before pouncing on his sister. He reminded himself to take better care of her next time and not to let her convince him to do anything stupid. It would be him doing the stupid stuff so that she didn't have to blame herself. He paused. "How about we get Jackdawstar instead of attacking each other!" he suggested. Without waiting for her agreement, the small gray pounced on the leader's tail, excitement twinkling in his eyes. *** Willowstorm closed her eyes as she felt his tongue on her. It was such a familiar and calming gesture and she found herself purring as he continued to groom her soft gray fur, which was so much like Fogkit's. She was slightly surprised by the compliment, but was glad he was starting to look at it that way instead of feeling bad that he hadn't been there to protect his mate and kits. She cracked open her eyes. "I don't know what I would do without our little furballs," she said with a small purr of amusement. She had no idea how she'd be able to chase after them with an injured leg, but figured she'd save that problem until she was actually back in the nursery. She closed her eyes and relaxed with a sigh. aether

SEDGEPAW | Big Park | Darkpaw @redheartofriverclan
Sedgepaw shrugged her shoulders and she looked quizzical as she tried to think of something to help. "Maybe you don't know yet because you haven't found it out yet," she suggested, "maybe you just have to find out later - it isn't going to come right now." Sometimes having patience was all one could do. Though she did feel bad for Darkpaw, his sadness overwhelmed him, she wasn't sure if he'd let himself wait or if he'd call defeat. Which is why she was determined to help! "You're my friend," she stated, "so I'm going to try my best to help," she nodded her head with her words and waved her tail. Some may say that Sedgepaw wasn't the best influence, but she wasn't so bad.
[ should we do something for drama? like maybe throw in a twoleg who tries to grab them? ]
JACKDAWSTAR, MISTYKIT | Nursery | Fogkit .
Jackdawstar purred in amusement when the kittens started to play fight near him. His shoulders relaxed and his gaze turned to the nursery entrance. He couldn't help his thoughts drifting, they drifted to Callie. He felt his stomach fill with butterflies, excitement, at the thought of seeing her soon. He closed his eyes for a few moments.
Mistykit batted at Fogkit with her paws, "No you're not!" She mewled, gnawing at his pelt. She fell off him when he suggested to attack Jackdawstar, and was she on his tail. She pounced at their leader playfully, her tiny paws batting, her small and sharp fangs gnawing.
Jackdawstar jumped at this, and then his eyes went wide. What do I do?! He thought, he watched the kittens attack him. They hardly bothered him physically, but he wasn't sure how to properly react. Did he fight back? Did he remain emotionless? He didn't know! "N-no! Don't!" He meowed sheepishly, before he decided to go with it. He rolled onto his back so the kits could play.
Mistykit tangled herself in the leaders long fur, the little grey kitten giggling as she did. "You're a big piece of prey! Fogkit, we caught some prey!" She squeaked.
KESTRELCLAW | Medicine Cat Den | Willowstorm
"Neither do I," Kestrelclaw gave a small purr of amusement. Mistykit and Fogkit brightened his life significantly. It wasn't a secret that he could be a little quiet and intense to his other clanmates, but Willowstorm brought him back down to earth. She gave him something to hold on to and love - she was his world. His kits were something he was so grateful for, too. They make him proud, they made him thankful. Without his little family, he would have surely faded away. "Yiy three are the only things that make me happy, I don't know what I'd do without them, or you." He pressed his nose to her ear and breathed his warm breath of it, "But I don't need to worry about that now that you're all here and safe."That sickening pained feeling he'd felt when he couldn't find his mate of kits was something he hoped he'd never have to experience again. He remembered his heart racing - he asked around but no one knew where they were. And then that feeling of dread when he'd seen Willowstorm limping into camp. He silently vowed to never allow something like that to happen again.

(Jackdawstar is me around children) Fogkit found himself smiling as he pounced on the leader. He should enjoy this and not think about his mother. His father was with her so there was nothing to worry about. But how often did the two kits get their leader to themselves? He was always busy with leader things and Fogkit wasn't sure he'd ever actually interacted directly with Jackdawstar. He puffed out his chest. "I'm the leader now," he said as he gently bit down on Jackdawstar's ear with his needle sharp kitten teeth. He was practically standing on Jackdawstar as he looked down at Mistykit. "Now we can be leaders together because we took down the old leader. I'm gonna make you Mistypaw now and you can make me Fogpaw," he suggested, as if taking down the leader in a little playfight gave them actual power within the clan. He hopped off of Jackdawstar and batted at the leader's tail. "Plus, I think this is even better than all the prey in the world. That must mean we're the best hunters and fighters in the clan and we aren't even Apprentices yet," he said, pride filling his voice as he spoke loud enough for both the leader and his sister to hear him. He was glad to see that Jackdawstar was actually playing with them, but he supposed it was simply because their parents didn't trust them to be on their own after what had happened today and he was the only cat available to watch the kits. "Jackdawstar you should come play with us more often! This is fun!" he squeaked, still batting at the leader's tail. It was a lot more fun that continually chasing Willowstorm's tail. *** Willowstorm listened to his words and opened her eyes to give him a lick of her own. She sighed. "I had just wanted to take a nap. They snuck out while I was sleeping," she admitted, feeling like a bad mother because she hadn't been watching her kits. "And that's why I snuck out after them. I didn't want anyone to know they had left." She didn't know why she was telling Kestrelclaw this now, but it was all coming out. "Fogkit was struggling to keep his head above water in the river, so I had to go in and drag him out. Once I got them both out, a dog came out of nowhere and..." she trailed off and shuddered as she recalled the vicious do and the sensation of pain radiating from her leg. That had been the only feeling. Pain, and fear. Fear of losing her life, her kits, her mate... She couldn't let that happen again. The she-cat curled closer to Kestrelclaw, only letting out a small whine when she accidentally jostled her injured leg too much. aether

RABBITSPRING | | Batblossom beefsmoothie
There was a mist of gloom drifting about the clan - Rabbitspring shook it from his pelt. After having watched Willowstorm limp back into clan, her leg mangled by a dog, he'd felt sick for her. He considered himself in that position and shuddered at the thought. The long-limbed tom lived and breathed to race about, to feel the wind in his pelt, to chase squirrels up trees and into their nests. Without that skill he was sure he'd waste away. Despite having already left camp that day on a patrol with his apprentice, Amberpaw, he felt a familiar itching in his paws. The feeling of wanting to get out and chase a squirrel up a tree. He was sure that the glum feeling in his stomach would be cured by a run.
He glanced camp for a moment, he didn't particularly feel like going alone, seeing as it was starting to get a bit on the late side of the afternoon. Batblossom was the first cat he spotted, so he was the first cat he approached. "Hey Batblossom," he grinned at his clan mate, "Wanna come out with me for a bit of a hunt? My paws are itching for it," he smiled and twitched his whiskers. Batblossom was someone he hadn't spent a lot of time bonding with, but he knew the tom was nice, just that he had a tough shell to break. Rabbitspring didn't mind that, though.
JACKDAWSTAR, MISTYKIT | Nursery | Fogkit .
Jackdawstar laid still, his head tilted down just enough to watch the kittens tousles his fur with their play. He did smile though, thinking that they were quite funny - even if he felt big and awkward as they went about their fun. Soon enough they'd be old enough to become apprentices, he thought. I'll need to make sure they get patient mentors, he twitched his whiskers in amusement. They are definitely going to be quite the pawful. He moved his tail back and forth as he thought, which attracted the attention of Mistykit. The she-kit grinned and pounced on it, biting at it with her tiny fangs. "We're the best in the Clan! Mistyheart catches the biggest worm in the world!" She laughed as she wriggled aorund with Jackdawstar's bushy black tail. The leader rolled over and shook her off, then batted her gently with his paw.
"It's not a worm," he chuckled. Then he looked to Fogkit and smiled, "It is nice playing - but I am quite busy a lot. But soon you'll be apprentices, and you'll be busy too," he meowed to Fogkit. Which was true, when he did finally become an apprentice his mentor would have to make sure to keep him busy and exhausted.
KESTRELCLAW | Medicine Cat Den | Willowstorm
A pang hit Kestrelclaw's chest as she explained what happened. If I had just been here... he closed his eyes tightly. He didn't say it, because he didn't want to upset her, but he felt so responsible for what happened. He pressed his nose to her warm cheek and kept his eyes closed, quiet for a few minutes. "I'm so sorry this happened, Willowstorm. I wish I could have been there to help, so you didn't have to do it alone." He thought about the fear and trauma she went through. Surely it was bad enough having to save Fogkit from drowning, but then the dog... and her leg... He felt choked up for his mate. With a deep sigh, he nuzzled his face gently into her neck. "I promise I'll be here for you now. I'll never let anything else happen, and I'll make sure our kits are safe too." He felt like he let his mate down, and his kits.

sunrise in leaf-fall, Ivyleaf stepped out from under the bridge, hissing as the cold leaf-fall wind hit her fur. The temperatures had been cooling rapidly lately, and while the tabby missed the warm lazy sun of greenleaf, the coming chill would mean she had an excuse to go out more often, whether it be for hunting or just simple exercise. Peering through the slight morning mist around the park, she tried to pick out vague shapes moving around - the twoleg monsters, as always bustling around the park. While they were strange to her parents and the cats who came before her, Ivyleaf had grown up her whole life in their presence and had simply normalized them into another part of her life. Just another part of this odd clan, out in the middle of twoleg territory.
She shook her head, getting rid of the dew drops that clung to her fur from the tall grasses around her, and looked around. After a quick stretch, the tabby was more than ready to get moving, already buzzing with energy. Ivyleaf was someone who you would definitely consider a morning person. Weaving in among the dens, she looked about, wondering if there were any patrols going out. The camp was awakening as well, a few cats starting to leave their dens and meandering over to each other to say their βgood morningβs, rustling coming from the dens that had yet to be emptied. Some would hiss as well, feeling the rush of chilled air and cringing away. Ivyleaf would stand there, already bouncing on her paws and ready to go out.

Batblossom jumped back a little, quite surprised by the sudden voice of another cat during his quiet moment of solitude. He stuttered, "Oh! U-um.. S-sure..." His voice was silent, but loud enough for his words to be heard clearly.
He had been feeling quite down lately and wasn't really feeling good enough to go hunting by himself, so he was glad that another warrior had approached him. It finally got him motivated enough to help the clan, since he would've felt bad for turning the invite down. He got up and stood awkwardly with his muzzle tilted downwards. The tabby waited for Rabbitspring to take the lead, not sure where the other tom planned to go. He kept quiet, not really sure what to talk about.
The brown tom wasn't too sure about the personality of Rabbitspring, since he never really hung out with most of the cats of Lostclan. He only assumed that he would be friendly and kind, since he took the time to invite Batblossom, a lonely and quiet cat.
