[ derping around with this for some character building because I can; no pressure, I'm just bored and going through rps xD ]
"No, no, no, this isn't right," Raven muttered. His finger skimmed across the page of the journal spread open across the table, travelling down the table of values before hopping to an adjacent sheet. The machine in front of him gave a sharp hiss and the artificer almost jumped out of his seat before kicking the stool behind him to reach over the top, twisting a few valves and hoping that would at least mitigate the problems he felt building inside it. The air grew warm as steam formed clouds above the cube, water condensing into drops along the sides of the metal. Raven pulled the papers from the table, sending the loose sheets to drift to the floor while the heavier books landed with a clatter of leather and the sharp ping when metal clasps hit stone. A puddle of water oozed from the corners of the cube, spreading across the table. "No, no, too much!" He tried to tinker with the valves again but pulled his hand away with the pain from the heat the metal now contained. Frantically the artificer searched the tools hanging from the wall above the table, finally grasping a large pair of pliers. He gripped the pliers around the cube and swung it away from the table, splattering boiling water in its trail.
He darted up the stairs with the machine, turning down the corridors with as much speed as he could muster. The metal, once a dull grey, was starting to turn yellow at the edges. "Open the door!" he called as he went, almost losing his footing. A passing maid screamed but complied, dropping the bucket she was carrying to swing open the door as he approached. The artificer barreled through the opening, the cube dripping and hissing as he dashed across the lawn to the lake where he dropped everything in with a splash, pliers and all. The lake erupted into bubbles where the little machine lay underwater, but quickly dissipated as the cube's heat was sucked away by the massive amount of water surrounding it.
Raven lowered himself to the grass on the side of the lake, breathing heavily from his race through the halls. He couldn't see the machine: the boiling water had stirred up the sand and muck of the bottom turning the surrounding water murky and brown. Hopefully it had survived the cold shock. He let himself relax, looking over the lake with small waves scudding across kicked by the warm breeze. "That could have gone worse." He had wanted to try building a water power cell using latent magic as energy for the reaction. He had built it by memory and the notes he took on a dwarf's similar design for steam-powered engines, but while Raven had more knowledge concerning the use of magic and runes, the dwarf's inefficiencies in the links had been a benefit to the design; Raven's attempts at optimizing the rune configuration had only overloaded it. It didn't much matter, he was only making the cell for the sake of making it. He had all the time in the world to make it right.

Akaiah brought his hand to his face, brow furrowed in thought. “Traveler’s discount… I’ve not heard of that, truthfully,” he admitted. “But I’ve been low on business lately, and I don’t want you--” he pointed toward the human, half-smiling, “--to go straight to the general store and skip over my place just because the prices are up.” “So.” Akaiah glanced over the cuts of meat and fish he’d made. “I’ll chop the costs in half...provided you do some advertising for me.” - Rosie paused a moment. Advertising…? That could entail a number of things, most of which she could easily slip away from and take the meat if she wanted.
(ahhh hmm i’m not 10000% sure where to try and push this plot rippp)

[ always interested in a good rp and I could to some shoving plot wise, especially with rosie. Dunno how we can drag akaiah into their conning without something outside to spur them away from town and I don't think we want to destroy entire villages quite yet. Other than Jenret's fetch quest for Raven, do any of your charries have any plots they want to follow? take our mismatched party out on an adventure? ]

[ we can drag her in quickly if she's travelling around where Jenret/Rosie are. I'm thinking the easiest of my seconds would be cassandra, probably fighting something she shouldn't be. If we need a questline or even pulling akaiah in she could be on the road to hunt down some vamps or similar baddies on bounty for the area ]
