I lied I can't sleep. Let's see what I can do
Sonya Wolfeyes is half-elf half-gnome. She has black hair kept in a braid and pupiless, violet eyes that seem too large for her face. Proficient mainly with bows and knives, but she loves a good finesse sword dance when she can find someone as quick as she. As chaotic neutral, she loves to do things for her own entertainment and very little else holds meaning to her. At 200 years old, she just doesn't care anymore.
Raven Filgarde is a human obsessed with artifacts --both magical and mundane. He has short brown hair and dark brown eyes usually framed behind the wire-framed glasses he needs to read. He rarely fights, but carries an arm crossbow (with which he's a mediocre shot). And he does own a familiar: a metal sphere that can roll around and unfold into a small dragon construct armed with a few shots of a fiery breath attack before it needs to be refilled with oil. He loves knowledge, learning, and adventuring for the 'greater good' his research could bring to the world. Though he needs to be reminded of that as he tends to keep the trinkets he finds on his journey, becoming too attached to sell or give them away.
Jenret Filgarde is Raven's younger brother. Tall with dark hair and blue eyes, he thinks himself a charmer. He's works for style, carrying two elaborate stiletto throwing knives and a rapier. He's also gifted with a slight aptitude for magic: enough so that with the help of a passing dryad he was able to learn himself a few parlor tricks. He's egotistical, yes, but brave and surprisingly cunning.
Cassandra is an elf. Left out to die on the whims of a seer, she was taken in by humans and then disappeared suddenly at the age of five. It was assumed to be murder: the elves were not very much liked where she was raised. However a team of adventures searching for a "spider queen" found her decades later, held in suspended animation where she --with the prodding of an ancient, broken druid-- attacked passerby by controlling hoards of massive spiders. The team saved her and she eventually woke up a few months later, scarred and with a mind much older than her five-year-old body. She'd probably be about 15-16 and still struggling to find meaning to her life and atone for what she did. She's a full caster, a sorcerer, the magic innate in her elven blood.

Akaiah is a tiefling, usually a guy I write in a humble but helpful profession, like fishing, butchery, etc. He's about thirty years old, but has little experience with adventure (so it could be fun to take him on one!). His upbringing was peaceful, despite he and his family being descended from devils; he has a natural athleticism, but he knows little about combat. He’s friendly, especially to familiar townspeople, but strangers--especially armed ones--can set him on edge. His wariness around those that seem dangerous can bring out the aggression many expect from his fiendish kind. Even if he lacks experience, he would go to nearly any lengths to protect the town he holds dear.
Rosencrantz (called Rosie, only by good friends) is a copper dragonborn. If she fit into any RPG class, it would be rogue. Like the copper dragons she owes her ancestry to, she prefers battles of wit to battles of strength or even agility, though she carries a whip and small dagger in case things come to blows. She would rather con someone out of their gold than steal from them. Because of this, she doesn’t necessarily run from the law… she tends to run from the people who realize they’ve been swindled.
[Name is in the works, I promise] is a tabaxi, or member of the catfolk. She hails from a population that made its home on craggy rocks and mountains. While she maintains some of the grace expected of felines, then, she has learned to survive using brute strength and a hardy constitution. As far as classes go, she fits barbarian most, and is far from a pacifist. But she does not pursue wanton cruelty, violence for the sake of violence; battling is like meditation or prayer for her, bringing her close to spiritual fulfillment. She is also skilled with a heavy crossbow, though mostly as a tool for hunting.

yeah that's totally cool !! I mean I'm playing a aasimor rn but, well, she's not dead yet. Cassandra technically never died in a campaign, she was just an npc The other three died.
And they're all cutie pies ahhh I love Rosie and it'll be so fun to see a tiefling and tabaxi outside of their usual stereotypes

haha yeah it is fun and as the second most senior member of most our groups (my friend made a bunch of different ones for his friend groups and got everyone hooked; I was the only one who played before then) I'm stuck with the full casters and more tech-based fighters just because I know the rules more xD
hmmmm we can always start with a few and add more on, or even make two groups? I think akaiah is an easy tie-in: other characters can just wander past his place, maybe rustle up some conflict that they have to fight off and take things from there.

it was! The first was a bit funky because we had two new players join the campaign, but the integration was something the others loved in the end (though one of the people might not come back; they were shy and didn't butt into conversations so got bored with it. Happens ig) the second was just a long fight we'd been hyping up for months. Went pretty much according to plan (surprisingly) cuz the dm was surprised we (the players) actually put together a battleplan in the first place.
Whatever you have time for/are comfortable with is fine. don't feel like you have to force anything grand nor should you slow down if it's going well. As long as it's more than a line it's cool

Akaiah’s small butcher shop, a wood and stone building he’d constructed with the help of a few others, was situated by the town’s docks. He returned this morning from a boat trip of his own, arms wrapped around a basket of fish as he made his way to the shop. A wagon, driven by a good friend, came to the store bearing the carcasses Akaiah would carve up and sell. The tiefling waved goodbye with a grin and first set to cleaning the fish he’d caught. “Not bad,” he hummed to himself, pausing to look over the quantity of fish and meat he could work with. Must be that new bait, given all the fish, he thought. I gotta thank that lady sometime. Good advice she gave me.
Rosencrantz crouched in an alley, looking toward the street. He’s got to be gone now. Minutes passed, and there was no sign of the guy. Well, he let a strange lizard join him on his horse with no proof she could pay him for the ride, she thought, amused. So he was probably too dense to check somewhere like this. Eventually she made her way into the cobblestone road, taking stock of her surroundings. The butcher shop across the street… “Good Aasterinian, those prices,” she muttered, spotting some painted on a wooden sign by the door. “This guy’s the one swindling people this time.” She grinned. It must have been good meat, if the butcher was still in business, but any sensible townsperson would go for a cheaper option. Rosie was sure of that. She sized up the whole shop before crossing the road toward it.
(pffft i hope these are okay! lmk if you want anything clarified)

"Where did it go?"
"The amulet? It should be with Berk--"
"No, the eye," Jenret said. It was very obviously not in his pack: the green and silver orb was pretty hard to miss.
Raven's voice was high pitched over the Sending spell as he muttered. Jenret imagined he was pacing, but due to the limitations of the spell he couldn't hear his brother's footsteps or even his breathing, only when he spoke. "Sorry! I don't think I linked them properly. Do you have enough money to get back home? It's only perhaps two days travel--" Jenret scowled and terminated the spell, cutting his brother's voice out from his head. He pulled things from the bag with more force than was probably necessary until he had dug his way to the bottom. The eye didn't miraculously appear, not like he was expecting it to. He rocked back on his heels, giving a sound of frustration. Of course Raven would forget the most important part of the teleport.
It hadn't taken Raven much to convince Jenret to run his errand: picking up an jade amulet from a vacationing merchant who needed Raven's expertise to evaluate the enchanted stone. Jenret loved the feeling of teleportation and once Raven had told him he would have the whole day to sightsee after picking up the package, Jenret was happy to accept the offer. Yet now he was cursing himself for assuming Raven had a shred of sense and cursing Raven for, well, obvious reasons. "Only two days travel," he said, flicking through the change at the bottom of the bag. He'd brought enough to splurge on the day out. Minus buying trinkets or even a drink at the tavern, he guessed he could make it three days, perhaps more if he went to some of the shadier inns. He sighed and stood, pulling the bag over one shoulder.
The teleport spell had placed him atop a hill overlooking a small town. The houses centered around a river that meandered between the hills, spilling outwards from a stone bridge that arched across. The homes were mostly made of stone --probably locally quarried-- and topped with dark or blonde wood. A road followed the side of the river into the town, curving around the base of the hill he stood upon. With a irritated glance at where he had teleported in, he started down towards the road and the little town beyond. At the very least he'd find some food: he didn't eat before the teleport and with how poorly things were already going today, he'd rather not face any more of it on an empty stomach.

(ahhh i wasn’t 100% sure what to do, i just kinda have them doing their thing..? If you have another idea please let me know!)
Rosie strolled into the butchery, a dainty bell ringing as the door opened. She nodded in the direction of the shopkeeper politely, pulling the purple hood from her head so her scaly face was clearly visible. With her best smile, she looked over the cuts and carcasses of meat on display. “Ah… this knife-work is impressive,” she murmured, peering at a particular specimen. “People don’t realize the artistry involved with this sorta thing, I don’t think...” Butter him up enough, she thought, and she could surely do some haggling.
Akaiah looked up from his work and nodded in return to the customer as she walked in. Before he could give a true greeting, the stranger spoke again. He set down the meat he was working with. “Artistry, huh?” The tiefling chuckled. “No one’s ever called it that before, to me at least. There’s definitely a technique.” He cocked his head slowly. “You’ve gotta be from outta town, though. I don’t forget a lot of faces, ‘specially when they come with horns like mine does…” said Akaiah, laying a finger on his curved, dark horns.
(also, i have a (somewhat Extra) name for the tabaxi: Chimana Bakari Kutek)

The town was quaint. Jenret had been to places like these, but never stayed for long. His home was in the city: full of unfamiliar faces and tangled streets just begging to be lost in. He loved the thrill of turning a corner and not knowing what had changed since his last visit, he lived for changing who he was each week and never being missed among the crowds. "Calm, I guess," he muttered as he came into the village proper, houses flanking the sides of the dirt path.
His stomach once again reminded him of his immediate goals and he took to reading the signs as he walked. A florist, a barber, someone claiming to be a psychic. It wasn't until he was nearly upon the river that he saw a sign listing prices of various meats. He wondered if they had fish: it's been a long while since Jenret had decent seafood. He didn't hesitate as he opened the door, the tinkling of a bell greeting him as he entered.
The sight wasn't something he expected: a tiefling behind the counter and a copper dragonborn browsing the aisles. Not an uncommon sight in the city, where travelers of all sorts gathered to supply before the harsh passage over the mountains, but he hadn't expected a small village to harbor the same diversity. He approached the counter with a confidence he wasn't sure he felt in the current circumstance, looking for the fish selection the location seemed to suggest would exist in a shop like this.

Ah...huh, thought Rosencrantz, turning to the newcomer after nodding at the tiefling. This new guy could prove useful, or maybe a pain in the neck. “You, stranger!” she called, waving a clawed hand and raising her eyebrows good-naturedly. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost, or something.”
Akaiah’s attention drifted to the human as well, and he gave a warm smile. “Someone else from outta town, huh?” he murmured, amused. “No one told me I was livin’ in a tourist spot. What can I do for ya?”
(sorry this took so long!)

[ np, I was going to give it ten days and then poke ya if you still didn't answer lol I mean I took nearly as long for my reply so I can't judge, and it is low key. ;D lemme finish lining some frames and I may reply tonight or tomorrow; it shouldn't be long since my reply has to be kinda short to let you make some reactions. I don't know your charries well enough to go overly long into multi-action responses yet ]

So the dragonborn wasn't from here either. Odd that the tiefling was, but his phrasing didn't leave a shadow of a doubt that he had lived here a while and the way he worked the knife meant he probably ran the shop himself. He ignored the copper dragonborn's call: for now, his stomach took priority and the shopkeep had asked him what he wanted, which he took as an invitation. "I'm looking for some fish?" he asked, dancing his fingers on the side of the counter. "Or a general store, if there's one nearby. My travel will take me longer than I anticipated," The last bit was added with more than a little irritation.

“Fish? Ah, we do have some of those,” said Akaiah, pointing a lavender hand toward an iced display of fish from that day and the one before it. “And there’s somethin’ like a general store a couple blocks away, further into town. But I’d rather you buy something from me, first, of course.”
Rosie’s eyes darted between the two. If this new guy keeps the demon occupied, thought the dragonborn, there’s no reason for me to try and swindle ‘im… But simply stealing the meat and reselling it seemed almost too easy.
“Sir!” she called out, waving toward Akaiah. “Both this fellow and myself are quite hungry,” said Rosie. “Or, he looks it, at least. Me, at least-- I’m low on funds, and I might not be able to get outta here if I spend too much more. Any chance you offer a traveler’s discount?”
(i genuinely dont know what she would be planning please just roll with it lololol)

Jenret stepped to where the tiefling gestured, looking over the fillets. They were prettily cut, he'd give the shopkeep that, and laid neatly to be easily visible. The pink and grey fish smelled wonderful to his hungry stomach and he quickly pointed out a thick side with nice lines patterned down the side. The dragonborn spoke up and he found himself smiling to her words. With the extra supplies he'd be needing to make it back to Raven, being frugal, while not normally in his vocabulary, would, perhaps, be wise in the current circumstance. "I'd hate to run you out of business," he started, making a show of weighing his coin, "but I'm afraid I must agree. My pockets are lighter than when I departed and I do need enough to make it home."
