Jordan lived in Ellsworth, so she didn't have the walk that she knew some of her coworkers did. And she didn't envy them. She spent most of her time in her hometown, and didn't see a reason to leave. That's why she had moved here soon after turning 18. Her parents had raised her, her brother, and her cousin in Everton. Her parents still lived her, though her brother had moved to Ochsport and her cousin had died during their teenage years. So Jordan was alone in Ellsworth.
She made her way to work only a few minutes before her shift started. She went up to the counter and ordered a coffee, bringing it with her into the break room. She spotted Kat in there, and the girl broke into a smile when she recognized her friend.
"Hey, Kat!" Jordan greeted. She took a seat at one of the many tables decorating the break room and sipped her coffee carefully. She made a face when she realized it was still hotter than she expected, but she luckily managed to keep from spitting it out. She placed her cup on the tabletop, wincing as she swallowed the still hot coffee.
"You got any plans after work? I'm bored," she said. The young woman was often bored since there weren't many people in Ellsworth that could keep up with her. Of course, that didn't stop her from trying to drag people along on her wacky adventures.

(Okay I'm back! ) Simon couldn't even begin to describe how happy he was that he lived closer to his work than he had before. He'd been working for the school for almost a year now and had been living in the city for a month now. Honestly it did wonders for his health and even if he wasn't completely healthy walking thirty minutes to the school was a hundred times better than walking the two hours it had been before. He had so much more time now and because of that had started making a daily visitations to the coffee house. His best friend worked there and they had the worlds best hot chocolate. It was rich and perhaps just a little bit bitter and Simon just couldn't get enough of it. By the time he had gotten into the cafe he was wheezing just a little, still exhausted from the walk even if it was so much easier than walking from another town, his cheeks just a little red. His cheeks were flushed lightly from a low grade fever, nothing out of the ordinary for the young and sickly teacher, but if anyone asked he'd just say that he ran a little to the coffee shop because he was running a little late. He needed exactly thirty minutes or more if he was going to have a good day, that was just a little superstitious thing he had, and was pleased when he checked the miniature watch (is that okay? It's like a basic one) because he saw that he nearly had an hour before he had to start his next walk to the school. He pushed into the place, smiling at the faint tinkle of the bell, taking in the thick smell of warmed beverages and pastries. Oh yeah, this place was definitely a favorite of his, if he could just live here he would. He walked over slowly to "his" seat, one that was the far left stool so he could talk to his friends while they worked, and he settled down on it. He was pretty happy that no one had taken it, that had happened before and it was uncomfortable having to sit somewhere else. "Good morning," He called out, voice a little soft like it always was, cracking just a little as he rubbed his forehead.

Kat put her backpack on one of the tables. She was a little lost in her own world as she opened up the backpack, looking in at its contents. Book. Notebook. A few pencils. Some files that she needed to go through and organize. She always had a habit of overestimating her breaks, or time in general, and over preparing herself with stuff to do. Stuff that she would procrastinate and not do.
She jumped a bit when Jordan came in. Kat was an easily spooked human, and she has been so engrossed in her own thoughts that she had no idea Jordan was approaching. "Hey, Jordan!" Kat said cheerfully. She zipped her backpack up and placed it in a chair for later.
"I don't think I have anything planned for later." She admitted. Kat didn't have a lot of friends, and her grandma would be home tonight. Kat didn't want to face her and talk about everything going on in the three towns. She knew it was bad and that it needed to be discussed, but she would much rather just ignore it. That was a plausible thought, right? "Why? Do you wanna hangout?" She asked as she pulled her hair back into a ponytail.
Kat started back into the coffee shop to start her shift, smiling when she heard Simon's voice. Of course, he was more of Jordan's friend than Kat's, but she had seen him plenty of times here and around town. After all, it was hard to avoid anyone here. Even with three towns, everyone knew everyone. "Hey, Simon." She greeted him. "Do you want the usual?" Kat asked.

((And Waffles, here is this quick starter with Jace and Ash. XD))
"So we're just supposed to stand here and wait for everyone else? Where are we even going?" Ash hated this town, but at least Ellsworth was more tolerable than the other two. She had only been to Everton once and never went back. The smell of animals was overwhelming disgusting. And just because she had a lovely, elderly pet ferret did not mean she liked all animals. In fact, she hated most.
"Just wait a bit longer, alright?" Jace told his sister. He had been to the towns, and he liked to walk amongst them and watch the locals interact. They were all so friendly too each other and knew everyone. It was crazy to him, and he was somewhat jealous of these people that grew up with this kind of community.
"I swear, Jace." Ash grumbled, but didn't say much else on the matter. She thought about what she could be doing, which probably would have been relaxing on the beach in Ochsport. One good thing had come about from this. Ash had gotten a really nice tan.

"I just don't know if it's right," Jack said with a frown. He looks out the window at the cute little town they'd recently moved to. His father was planning on buying up the land to build anything that would make him more money. He hadn't had much of an opinion until he moved in and watched the life of the small town. And Jace may or may not have influenced his opinion.
Sophia shook her head. "Look at these people, Jack. They'll do so much better once Dad comes in and fixes things up," she said. Of course, that meant taking away everything from these people and using it for his own gain. But still. It had to be better than this.
Mia silently followed her brother and cousin, still unsure of where she stood on the whole issue. She'd heard both arguments and saw the benefits for each. So when Sophia turned to ask her what she bought, she frowned. Until she saw Ash and Jace. "Hey, look! It's our friends! Let's greet them and not talk!" she suggested.
Sophia was distracted by that and went over to stand by Ash. "Hey," she said. Jack gave Mia an unsure look before approaching Jace and smiling. The other boy was definitely one of his best friends.
Mia took her spot in the middle of the five.

"Hey, guys." Jace responded. These weren't exactly the kind of people he would have hung out with back home, but... well, actually, Jace didn't hang out with anyone back home. He didn't have friends. So the difference was that these people were actually people. He had spent way too much of his time playing the guitar and the way he would trip over his words around strangers had killed any chance of friendships throughout his school years. Now, Ash had dragged him along and forced him to hangout with them, so now Jace was fairly close with Jack, at the very least. Sophia and Mia seemed... nice enough, but Jace hadn't really talked to them much. "Hey, Jack." He said, giving a Jack a somewhat apparently special, singled out greeting because that was Jace.
"Hey!" Ash was thrilled to have their friends show up since hanging out with Jace wasn't exactly what she liked to do with her time. The worst part about moving here? Having to meet new people. Well, and having to walk everywhere or ride a horse. Ash did not like horses. They were far too big for her liking. "So what do you guys want to do today?" She asked it as if there were a ton of options -- which, obviously, there were not. Hence why she spent so much time at the beach in Ochsport. Plus, okay, she had to admit that usually, she would watch the people fishing and the other citizens of Ochsport or whoever else might be there. A lot of the guys would be shirtless. And Ash enjoyed watching them and rating them on a scale in her mind.
Either way, standing still here without a plan wasn't what she wanted to do. "So... we could go to a restaurant. Or a coffee shop. Or, uh..." Wow, was there anything else to even do? "I guess there's clothing stores that we could go to." But Ash had already flipped through the clothes around here a million times and hated all of the styles. So she had opted out and instead, stuck with what she had brought with her. "What do you guys think?" She asked, looking at Sophia and Mia for their opinions. She didn't trust Jack or Jace.

Jordan laughed when she saw Kat jump. She hadn't meant to scare the girl, but Jordan was also quite good at that, especially when it came to someone like Kat. She smiled as she pulled out her phone to waste the few minutes she had left before her shift. She also sipped at her coffee, listening to Kat's answer to her questions.
"Yeah, I was thinking we could hang out. Maybe find one or two other people we like," she said with a laugh. "I have nothing to do after work and I didn't want to hang out alone," she said with a shrug. But she smiled when Kat seemingly agreed with her ideas. "Great. We can talk about it," she said, following Kat up to the front when it was time for their shift to start.
"Hey, Simon!" Jordan called, smiling when she heard her friend's voice. She and Simon were very different people and unlikely friends, but it had somehow happened. Since Kat seemed to already be getting him his drink, Jordan made her way over to Simon's seat, leaning against her side of the counter. "How's your day been?" she asked, sipping her own drink.
She watched as another customer came up to the counter. Jordan greeted her with a smile and got the woman her coffee. She handed it over and took the woman's cash. When she left, Jordan sighed and walked back to Simon. "I really don't like work," she said with a laugh, though she knew this job was better than some she could have. Ben had told her there was some openings for fishermen in Ochsport but she really didn't want to spend her days fishing. She'd much rather stay in the clean, dry coffee shop and sell people coffee.
Especially cause she got to hang out with people like Kat and Simon.
(Ugh sorry it's so short)

Jack smiled when Jace greeted him separately from the girls. Jack hadn't really been super popular since his dad started moving him around to learn how to take over his business someday. So Jace was really his only friend besides Mia and Sophia. He didn't even get along super great with Ash. Which sucks. His options for both friends and girlfriends were limited. But he smiled when he hung out with Jace. He liked the quiet and awkward boy, even if he wasn't normally the kind of dude Jack hung out with. Sophia rolled her eyes slightly at Jack's excitement at seeing Jace. There was nothing wrong with Jace, but it was kind of sad that he was Jack's only friend.
Sophia frowned slightly when Ash asked what they wanted to do today. "We could go to the beach, but I don't really like Ochsport. It smells like fish," she said with a frown. You'd think that they would make it not smell like fish, but apparently all the Ochsport citizens had gotten used to it. After all, fishing was apparently the only thing they were good for. Or wood. Sophia still didn't understand why they didn't just import cheaper wood from literally anywhere else. But whatever. She wasn't here to change their way of life. No, that was her dad's job.
Jack frowned when Ash was very clear about not asking his opinion. Just his sister and his cousin. Sophia shrugged. "Um, it's not really time for a meal. We could get coffee," she suggested. Then she frowned. Even Ellsworth was boring compare to where they'd come from.
"Actually, I think a restaurant might be good. Or we could waste time doing something else, then run to the restaurant," Mia suggested. She looked between Sophia and Ash for their opinions. Sophia just shrugged and turned to Ash for her opinion.
Jack frowned. "Should we tag along with the girls or do something fun?" he asked Jace.

"Hi, Kat," Simon greeted with a small smile. He rubbed his eyes again, his head feeling all cloudy like it did when he was sick, but still focused on the other. "Yeah, the usual. There's the best hot chocolate here. I can't get enough of it." He added, straightening up his back a little, wanting to become friends with Kat. She seemed nice enough and Jordan liked her too, and he trusted her judgment. At least when it came to people. What she wanted to do and her actions were a different story, Simon was so much more cautious than his best friend, but when it came to people she was a good judge of character in Simons opinion.
He brightened considerably when Jordan popped up, a grin splitting his features, fixing his own glasses so he could see her a little better. "Hey, Jordan," He said, before chuckling a little when he was asked how is day was. "It was alright, I guess. Just started." He explained with a decisive nod. "Alright" had always been their code for he was feeling sick but he wasn't going to do anything about it. He was always the stubborn type and hated going to the doctor, so most of the time he just ignored it until it got really bad, then he'd end up at the doctors for a couple of days.
He chuckled and shook his head when Jordan complained about hating work. "Hey, it's better here than fishing' all day," He joked with a wry smile. Really he had nothing against fishing, it was Ochsports most important job, but neither of them were really cut out of that kind of work. Simon was too sickly and Jordan would probably end up going insane with boredom. He always pegged her as the type to need that constant interaction and things to do, he could be wrong of course, but thats always he thought of his friend. He leaned over a little more, voice lowering a little, "Have you seen the rich kids takin' over the beach? It's all they ever do is suntan I hear," He murmured quietly, keeping it between the three of them when he took his hot chocolate, eyes glinting.
Simon had always been a bit of a gossip. He never meant to, really, and he hated being a part of drama. The thing was he lived for hearing it and finding out about peoples lives and then reiterating ti to Jordan and now Kat. He took a sip of his hot chocolate, enjoying the slight burn, smiling a little at the taste of it. This was absolutely delicious and was happy to find he had enough whipped cream to stir it into the mixture and make it even richer.
