(My older sister’s friend got married and the bride chose her husband’s sister since she had no sibling and they’d gotten really close. So I’ll make that the scenario. xD Ink, I feel you. I got the perfect picture for Lucia, though.)
Lucia laughed, mussing up Griffin’s hair as she used to do when they were kids. “You are completely crazy,” she informed him, a smirk playing at her lips. She popped a mint in her mouth, silent for a moment. “But you are right,” she added thoughtfully. “Alex wouldn’t have chosen anyone else.” There was a moment of quiet after that, though it wasn’t awkward, and Lucia took the oppurtunity to order coffee. “So..any girlfriend?” She asked, a playful glint in her brown eyes. The ginger desperately hoped not. Why, though? she berated herself, taking a sip of her newly arrived order. You have your own boyfriend.

Charlotte laughed at Dakota, shaking her head and discreetly pushing the dollar back to her, getting to her feet and returning with their drinks. She knew Dakota was trying her hardest. She didn’t mind helping out.
”Don’t sweat it,” she assured, retrning her card to her wallet. ”Employee discount,” she grinned cheekily. She sipped her coffee, savoring the strong, dark flavor, heavy on her tongue.
”Now that’s good stuff. You got any good stuff happening in your life lately?” she questioned Dakota, taking another delicate swallow.

((I am more victorius with Griffin, quite a fitting picture imo. My sister saw it and thought he didn't look to great but he's not supposed to be the absolutely gorgeous type, more like the grump who is jus a softie at heart of course it never hurts anyone to smile but you know. and yes I am getting very lucia vibes from that picture. that sounds pretty cool tho, they will be your sibling. ))
Griffin positively glowed under Lucia's attention. Yes, he supposed he'd given up on her for awhile as she went away to college, but it's now wonderful to meet again. Griffin let the silence pass with ease, enjoying the comfort. Griffin raised his eyebrows in surprise. "I really feel like I should make a cocky remark but the snark machine is out of order," he replied with a smirk of his own. Flicking up to meet her inquisitive brown gaze, he let a moment pass and said, No, not really or anytime soon, you?" he implored, since the door was open.
((I also realized that some people probably know this guy but I don't bc I literally don't watch anything except marvel stuff so, sorry not sorry I guess. :lol;))

Dakota rolled her eyes, not-so-discreetly taking the money back and tucking it back in her purse. She'll pay her back one day, probably not in dollars, but still. Dakota took the drink from Charlie's hands with a grateful. "One day they're going to realize how much you abuse that," she joked with an easy smile. Sipping her drink thoughtfully, she realized that nothing eventful happened since last week. Boss was still terrible, college was still awful, and home life had never been great to begin with. "Neal got a new girlfriend, but what else is new," she eventually decided on saying, picking at her nails. Neal was her younger brother, by 3 years. It was his last year and he sure as heck was going out with a bang. "I can see it's busy around here, did you get any extra hands?" drawing attention away from herself instead focusing on Charlie.

Leah grinned at their common anti-coffee sentiment. Until she heard about his shot of coffee in his hot chocolate, "Traitor!" She giggled as she stepped away, covering her mouth with her hand, from him in mock indignation, pointing a admonishing finger at him. Falling back into her place a respectful distance away from him she continued, "Yeah actually, everyday, one and only coffee place that keeps my hot chocolate relatively pure of various influences." Leah smiled sheepishly, realizing that they'd gone over this, but was also trying to keep the conversation somewhat alive. Scraping her mind for different types of topics of conversation. "You native here or visiting?" she finally asked after a slightly awkward pause.

Drake laughed at her response. He liked this girl -- she was funny, and Drake liked being around funny, upbeat people that could make jokes and laugh about nonsense. She was okay in his book. "I'm, uh... both, I guess?" That was a weird way to answer the question. "My brother got work here, so we moved into town for a while. Probably until he loses this job, and then we'll move to the next place." Drake explained with a shrug. "What about you? And I don't suppose you know of anything fun to do in this city?"

Leah's brow furrowed, to her the world fell into a black and white. Good or bad, life or death, justice or mercy, and well --visitor or native. Upon further explanation her confusion was allieviated. Visitor, then she conceded. Noticing that the baristas now grabbed her cup to fill it with the delicious hot drink, she tucked her hands in her jeans back pockets. "Me? Well, I was born and raised here. I can give you a brief tour of the town, if you like?" she offered, before the thought even processed in her mind. What are you talking about? You are ten million percent not ready for this, she panicked internally, but the only sign was a rapid flush of red to her face. "Yep, I know this place like the back of my hand." She tried to paint a picture of a completely confident person, and what she said wasn't untrue... she just hadn't given anyone a tour.
((I'm trying to keep things platonic but we'll see where Drake goes with this. ))

Lucia had forgotten how much fun it was to be with Griffin. She simply shook her head at him, mock surprise written on her face. “I never thought you would run out of sarcastic comments,” she challenged, raising an eyebrow. “You’ve disappointed me!” Her nails tapped on the to-go coffee cup, her fingers loving the feel of warmth. For a second, the man’s question shocking her. Go ahead and tell him, she told herself. You’ve dug yourself into this hole. “I’ve just been going out a bit, but no one had really caught my eye,” the lie came easily to her, and she cursed her naughty lips. Poor Noah. She’d been thinking of breaking up with him. But she couldn’t under these circumstances. Ignoring the warning signs flaring off in her head she added, “until I met you here.”

Griffin shook his head shyly a soft smile on his face, in complete honesty he couldn't come up with something snarky. His head was kind of up in the clouds, aware of what happens but not really in keeping to what he would prefer to happen. "Nothing out there? Or nothing enough to match the entrancingly wonderful Lucia No-" he joked, couldn't help but feeling slightly proetective of her. As she finished her thought he ran his hands through his hair, a faint blush creeping up to his checks. Turning his head and biting his lip in one quick movement he smirked and thought, Didn't see that one coming, hmm, Ransom? You gotta snap out of it, bring back the sarcasm. Griffin paused, the thrumming of his fingers against his jeans getting increasingly faster. "Well I don't know Lucia. I've heard this Ransom kid is troublemaker," Griffin pretended to rub an inviasble beard, thinking real hard.

Charlotte raised her eyebrows in mock surprise. Neal with a girlfriend? Was anyone really surprised? She’d called the “glow-up” from a mile away, as the kods say these days. She laughed slightly, shaking her head.
”Can’t say I’m surprised. Is she nice?” she inquired, curious to see what kind of girls Neal was putting his faith in. She blinked at Dakota’s next question, thought instantly derailed.
”Oh, no, no one has yet. I dunno why, this is like, the dream job,” she sighed, rolling her eyes and laying the sarcasm on thick. ”It’s actually really not that bad. Good benefits,” she grinned, raising her glass to bump in ‘cheers’ with Dakota, laughing slightly.

Drake lit up at the idea. He hadn't managed to find anyone even remotely interesting or friendly so far -- not that he hadn't tried, but Drake had found very few people to be interesting enough for him to bother talking with. Or they had ditched him because, well, he was a weird kid and could sometimes be difficult to keep up with.
"A tour? From the Leah, and a fellow coffee hater at that?" He said with a playful grin. "How can I not accept that offer? Unless, of course, you're busy and have other plans or something." Drake replied. He certainly didn't want to be a bother, but hanging out also sounded wonderful. And better than what Drake had planned.

((hmm all right, intransigent, my friend smore used to give everyone nicknames, I'm not nearly as good but I'll see what I can do. I jus feel bad bc I'm never sure if I'm spelling I think right.))
Dakota bumped her cup accordingly, after snickering at her friend's remark, tactly dodging her question about Neal. Dakota really had high hopes for Neal... he was just in a bad place, she use didn't know how to get him out of it. Recognizing Charlie's annoyance, she whole heartedly sympathized. She knew how it was, sometimes while conditions and pay weren't great they were bettter than nothing at all. She'd been at the bottom before; Dakota scraped tooth and nail to build herself back up, and now she was fighting to stay out. "Yeah it's not all bad," she replied, taking a swallow from her drink. "You're off now, right? Where are we wandering today?" She always tried to get together with her friend to just meander in a park or share coffee, but she figured Charlotte had seen enough of the coffee shop working there and all.

((oh that's good. Leah's kinda my wip aro character, nice to everyone but lover of none. Not to say she won't be best friends with anyone, she loves friends.)) ((And yes floof is a term I kinda adopted to mean exactly that. I find that I don't really like the appeal of guys appearance minus rare occasions but rather prefer to like their words and whatnot, so floof bc at the time i hated the idea of guys and cute or hot or even handsome. I was one of those kids.))
Leah grinned shyly. Well here we go, off into the land of social anxiety, she thought to herself with butterflies spurting wings in her stomach. Strangers were always an unknown, hence the term stranger but for nerves like hers this meant something totally different. But an outing with someone new couldn't be all bad right? Her best friend was always trying to push he really out of her comfort zone --in the friendly, "It'll help you!" manner. Plus it wasn't as if she had any plans on this Saturday other then to rewatch shows she knows by heart.
When the barista finished up with the cover on her drink she stepped up to grab it just as her called her name. "Well then let us wait for your own, disgusting coffee infested hot chocolate and walk around. There's lots to see," she replied, stepping over to get a napkin and a stirrer.

[ PLEASE don't over think this omg i'll love literally anything i'm just flattered that you WANT to give me a nickname in thE FIRST PLACE GAH ]
Charlotte downed the rest of her cup and noted Dakota's furthered silence on Neal. She put that to memory, getting to her feet and pulling her jacket lightly around her shoulders, huffing slightly. She recycled her empty cup (since many seemed to forget that they were an "eco-friendly" shop) and headed out the door, checking her phone for any juicy notifications as she did.
After responding to an online friend she found through Twitter, Charlie snorted and glanced around, slowing her pace slightly for the shorter girl (being 5'11" was definitely a curse). She glanced down at Dakota, shrugging before looking around aimlessly. "There's a new bookstore that opened just two blocks down if you want to check it out," she grinned in spite of her attempted nonchalance. Charlotte loved book stores.

Deciding to nurse hers throughout the adventures, Dakota kept her only half empty cup. Pulling herself out of the chair she stretched, grabbing her wallet and stuffing it in her pocket, and sighed. She really did hate movement. Rushing over to the coat rack to grab her own jacket to face the frigid cold she slipped it on and met Charlie outside.
"Bookstore it is!" Seeing right through Charlotte's ruse she grinning and took off towards the new bookstore. Dakota didn't mind bookstores, they weren't here favorite place but she went because Charlie loved them. Plus she needed a new book to read anyway.

[ "i like to overthink" a MOOD. okay but like ?? i love it!! so sweet thank you. and honestly, same. i respond to like everything at this point. "hey trashcan" das me, your local trash woman ]
Charlie grinned at Dakota's response, glad her best friend saw through her. She simply widened her stride since the girl was in momentum now, keeping pace easily with that tall, graceful way she had. Charlotte shoved her hands deep in her pockets and looked for all the world like she could've been thinking about oatmeal with how blank her expression was. But inside, she was practically giddy with excitement, like a kid on Christmas. She noted the nippy air and a slight smile graced her lips. She enjoyed winter and its frozen beauty more than she cared to admit.
When they reached the bookstore, she pulled the door open for Dakota, grinning up at the jingling bell before stooping slightly to enter. She glanced around in amazement, unable to keep cool as her face lit up in excitement. It was glorious, with books lining every shelf and overflowing, the smell of old and new books mixing together in a heavenly aroma. "I could live here," she whispered to Dakota, grinning wider now as she spotted a little small cafe to the side where you could get coffee to drink while you read various books.

okay but that's great, I'm glad you love it!!! Well I'm sure you be a stylish trashlady my friend cause you rocking it.))
Keeping pace with her tall friend she was huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf when she finally arrived at the door to the newly opened bookstore. But once she saw Charlotte's grin she knew it was all worth it. The bookstore was a neat cosy place versus a uniform clean kind of place, the books stacked in shelves organized in order, the smell of new books and fresh pages as a constant blanket mixing with the cafes light scent of coffee. Sipping her now rapidly cooling drink she polished it off, deciding to just tail Charlie. She loved seeing her friends happy, Charlotte most of all.
She'd always been more of a closed off person, and that's what pipqued Dakota's interest. Quiet people either turned into loud people or were carrying around secrets. Both of which were interesting. But right now she needed to focus on finding Charlie a Christmas present. Time always seemed to flyby as the holidays drew nearer, and she still hadn't gotten one for her best friend. "What book should I pick up? I finished my most recent one, Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson, what now?"

Charlotte had started to wander off when she jolted to a stop at Dakota's question, having forgotten for a moment that the other girl was with her. She felt heat rush her cheeks, but was glad her flush wasn't really obvious and she glanced down, thinking over her question. Charlie only took a long time to respond when it was important and serious to her. She glanced around, humming softly for a moment.
"Well, a class is Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, but one of my favorite most recent reads is Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer," she answered finally before starting to move again, disappearing into a row of shelves, running her hands over the spines of the books, itching to read them all.

The tide of people seemed to have slowed down a bit -- enough that Drake was sure his would take less time than hers.
"What is there to see, though? Like, exactly what? Anything actually interesting?" Drake asked, figuring that maybe that could kill some time while waiting for his your. "Someone that will get me really excited about living here." Because as it was, Drake missed his old home.

Deciding to forgo her conscience completely, Lucia gave the man in front of her a devious grin. “Oh, how you underestimate me, Mr. Griffin,” she murmured, leaning closer to him. “I think I can handle a little trouble.” Her voice was now a whisper, and she tapped him on the nose before laughing and leaning back once again. Lucia, you are a terrible human being. she shook her head at herself. When you die, you’re going straight to..down there. “So, do you want to explore the city” she offered him, fishing a five dollar bill out of her wallet and standing up. “Show me what’s changed,” she gave him a soft smile.

((@ intrans:: thank you!! )) (( @ blaze:: yeah thanks! shes my lil aro beanie. and yes exactly that anti attractive males club for life. I was terrible about that kinda thing.))
--- Realizing that Charlotte was lost in her own world, Dakota chuckled. She dutifully trailed behind her, knowing Charlie would hear her eventually, she studied the titles as they passed by. Sometimes if they were interesting enough she'd pull a book out and read the summary, noting it mentally to checkout of the library. While Charlie loved bookstores, Dakota loved the library, the atmosphere of learning. She also loved taking advantage of the free wifi, and free movies and such.
Pausing with Charlotte, she listened, keeping the titles in her head. "Can I borrow them from you or should I get them from the library?" she inquired, finding Into the Wild on one of the display shelves. She went over to check out the price of the hard back book and almost dropped it. The price of books had sky rocketed in the recent years, and paperback books were never as good as hardback. --- Holding a hand over her ears, Leah pretended she didn't hear him. Stepping back to wait for Drake's drink, she stirred her hot chocolate idly, and wrapped both hands around the warm drink. The baristas were now grabbing Drake's glass beginning to fill it with the required ingredients. From then on it'd probably only take three minutes. Leah took a cautious sip of her drink unsure if it was cooled yet, too warm for her liking but she swallowed and waited.
Thinking over Drake's question she put together a basic itinerary of what was significant and what wasn't in her small hometown. "I mean this is place where some guy who was in the Olympics for like ping pong or something is from, I think," she recalled, remembering all the various tours her elementary school took her on. "I mean there's also a pretty cheap zoo around here if you want to check that out," she personally loved the zoo but some people didn't like animals. "I think the Hartsock's just opened a bookstore down the way, as well if that's to your taste." --- Griffin instinctively leaned forward, smelling her minty breath from the mint earlier, only to be left dumbstruck from her own surreptitious devices. As she backed away he let a dry smile form on his lips, forcing his own breath to even out, Not quite yet Ransom, wait and see. Rising with her, he grabbed her jacket from the back of her chair and handed it to her. "A walk around town doesn't sound half bad right now," he replied, forcing his voice to stay even. "Nothing much has changed, aside from a few new places cropping up, and then they broadened the park space so that's pretty nice, and then zoo picked up some more animals... But where do you want to go princess?" Nonchalantly running a hand through his hair as he brought back one of his favorite nicknames from childhood --only because it annoyed Lucia so much. --- ((whew that was a lot! pushing for two paragraphs on my literacy is rough but I think it's working out okayish? description will be the death of me, action is always preferred.))

Lucia smiled in thanks and put her jacket on, glancing outside to look at the weather. Though it late winter, the weather wasn’t terribly cold and the sun was peeking behind a cloud. She could see the park, and the shops that surrounded it were brightly lit with holiday lights that bordered on garish. The woman nodded at his words, interested in the park though there was a slight chill. Yeah. The park sounds nice. she mused, turning to face Griffin. At the playful glint in his eyes, she became suspicious and backtracked his previous words. Her eyes narrowed and she bristled, crossing her arms. She looked up at him with a joking glare. “Don’t call me that,” she said seriously, then broke into a smile. Just like old times. “I like the sound of walking through the park,” the ginger declared, making her way to the front of the small shop. Looking back, she was a bit irritated to find Griffin hadn’t moved and she marched back. “C’mon!” She huffed, taking him by the hand and pulling him out into the cool air. She sighed happily, gazing around at her hometown. It hadn’t changed really at all. She walked down the street that led to the park, never once letting go of Griffin’s hand.
(Same! I kind of like doing two paragraphs.)

Smirk growing wider Griffin rolled his big brown eyes. Ah yes to be children again, he thought to himself contentedly, as he pulled his navy blue coat on. The park was not only a trademark to the town but one of his personal favorite places. It was where he grew up with Alex and Lucia. Sure the playground changed and the people were different it was the tranquility the place had.
Allowing his hand to be pulled out of his very warm and very comfortable pocket only to be met with Lucia's cool hand Griffin huffed reproachfully. Beginning to tug, Griffin was then pulled out to of the cozy coffee shop and out into the wintry outdoors. "Coming, I'm coming," he whined pathetically, dragging his feet and fruitlessly yanking his hand out of his friend's grasp. Discovering her iron grip, he relaxed into it, noticing with a gleeful smile that her fingers intertwined with his perfectly.
((it gives me a good format, imo. on in reactionary to the person opposite to me and then another action to add to it. and cliché romance?? i think yes. ))

Lucia took in a deep breath of air, exhaling a puffy cloud that lingered above their two heads. At Griffin’s touch she shivered in spite of herself, and squeezed it for a moment, relishing in the feel that her hands were perfectly placed for his. “You’re pathetic,” she giggled, again pulling him towards her as they crossed the street. I could get used to this, she thought absentmindedly, glancing back to meet her childhood best friend’s eyes. She smiled instinctively, then flushed, a bit embarrassed by how she was acting.
Just as they made it to the sidewalk that led into the official park, a white flurry caught Lucia’s attention. “Snow,” she whispered excitedly, acting like a little kid again. Snow had always been her absolute favorite weather and it still was. Soon, a multitude of white specks descended, spotting her pale auburn hair with flecks. She turned to Griffin, a wide grin contradicting her usual soft smile. Ignoring the nervousness she felt, she leaned in, doing what she’d wanted to do ever since they were teenagers. She kissed him, tasting faint espresso and vanilla mixed with the coolness of the weather.

((awww would ya look at that!! that's so cute!! i love them. and yes this is my guilty pleasure cliché plot. )) --- Griffin watched her, allowing himself to be tugged wherever she wished to go. The way her elegant locks framed her face perfectly, her cheeks pink from the cold, and her bright brown eyes taking in the natural beauty. Easily getting lost in the park he knew by heart, he stopped staring at he white flakes falling into her auburn waves. "Snow indeed," he murmured with a smile, taking a free hand and feeling the freezing snowflakes against his warm hand.
Seeing where this was going, Griffin grinned, leaning down to kiss her. She always was the brave one, he remembered fondly. It was chaste kiss, a mark of a new beginning. A new era for their relationship. "That was..." he started breathless, pausing and tugging her into a hug with him resting his cheek on her head, idly playing with a fiery strand of hair. With a chuckle he finished after a comfortable silence and finally finding a fitting word, "overdue." Releasing her from the hug, he took her hand this time, leading her to his favorite place in the park. --- ((i suppose i jus assumed how tall lucia is, griff is abt 6 feet. i'm always sad bc i'm on the taller end for women (5'9" and still growing) so my guy is gonna have to be rlly tall to do that kinda thing. but it is nice when guys try to be smooth and get stuff, cause i just stare at them like excuse me. i am still abt half an inch taller --not yet. let me enjoy being tall while it lasts, when yall reach 6 foot than you can lord it over me, but not yet. hold your horses.))

(Awwww I’m just dying from cuteness overload!! *squee* The song Perfect by Ed Sheeran is so perfect for the two of them!)
Lucia was breathless, unable to comprehend the world anymore after what just happened. That was...so much more than she could’ve ever expected. Her cheeks were flushed pink, and she simply looked up at Griffin with warm eyes. There he was, his cheeks a little flushed too, worh some stubble on his chin and his brown hair a little mussed. He was always the somewhat shy one, she remembered fondly, an awe-struck smile on her face. Finally finding her voice, she cleared her throat as best she could and whispered, almost as if afraid to break the moment, “That was brilliant.”
And it was. With no one else she kissed, - and believe her, she’d kissed a lot of boys - Lucia had never felt the spark that she shared with Griffin. Her face turned from awestruck to slightly mischievous. “Would it be too early to do that again?”
— — —
(You were right on her height. Lucia’s really short, like 5 foot 3. And it’s the complete opposite for me, which is nice, I suppose, except when you’re trying to reach things. I’m 5’2” and not growing any more.)

((I think you're doing really good on the long posts. XD I just try to fill them with the character's thoughts. XD))
"Olympics?" Drake's eyes widened in excitement, but that was more or less extinguished when she added that he had been a simple ping pong player. "Well, that's no fun." Drake was a sporty person, but he wasn't that interested in the idea of ping pong. That was probably one of his least favorite sports.
