Hey ya'll, it's been a long week at college, and I want some creative juice flowing as well as a place for interaction with others. Hence, why not make a roleplay?
I have nothing in mind at the moment so hit me with anything. I would prefer for it to be simple as can be while retaining it's own unique charm. It can be clan, tribe, etc. but the main focus is on feline characters.
TO DO LIST
(✔) clan concept A regular, simple clan who lives isolated from other felines, human influence, etc. They are very floral-oriented and each cat has it's own designated flower that grows within their bodies and presents itself as blooms on the surface. (✔) clan details (includes religion, naming system, traditions, etc.) (✔) plot (✔) flower list (✔) clan name Floraclan ( ) territory description ( ) camp description
(✔) herb list (✔) predator/prey list (✔) coding

Thanks! So were you thinking along the lines of just a basic clan with like personal touches (name, territory, etc) or something that makes it a little different than all the others?

WORDS Pretty much something simple and sweet, maybe a little aesthetic on the side. A fairly regular clan with a few unique touches to it. I was briefly imagining the idea of simple, run-of-the-mill clan that is very floral-oriented clan. Wherever they are, flowers of all kinds in every biome grow. There is only one type of flower in the clan on one cat alone, and it eventually bonds to the cat and grows into their bodies and sprouts and lives alongside them throughout their lives? Thought that might be kinda sweet idea.

So like a clan with normal cats and it's just like floral themed (maybe all the prefixes are flowers?) or like some kind of cat-flower hybrids?
Or maybe alll the cats for floral prefixes and when they're born that flower blooms in a special part of camp and that section of camp is like sacred? When a cat dies the flower dies kinda thing?

WORDS Perhaps they can be regular felines livin' life in the wilderness, but there is a particular meadow of flowers where one of every kind of flower in the world dwells. When a kit is born, the parents go to the field with the kits and whichever flowers glows is the one for that kit? Then they take the flower back and over the course of the night, the flower grows to a certain part of the kit's body and remains there until their death? Over the course of their lifetime, the flowers can grow on the body (remaining relatively out of the way so it doesnt cause hinderance to the cat) and multiply around the central flower. When a cat dies, the original central flower is plucked off and brought back to the field and laid down again and the flower resprouts for the next destined one? I like that idea c:
The cats don't need to have flower names but certainly could if wished! It could be integrated into the cats as having flowers or flower parts in their names, but it doesnt always have to be flower-related and can always just be regular warrior names, as they are a regular clan apart from the flower part.

That sounds cool. Or maybe the kit goes and picks a flower because they're "drawn" to it and the flower says something about them? Like don't flowers represent different thing? So it could like represent their main personality trait?
And then would they be named after the flower that grows on them or not?

WORDS I like the concept of the kit picking the flower! Sweet c: It could certainly tell something about that cat as well. I like that idea!
Nah, I don't think they have to be named after their flowers- they are isolated from other cats and such, so the concept of having flowers all around and growing on them is really no big deal to them in particular. They name themselves as simply as an average warrior cat clan would!

WORDS lol I was suddenly struck with the idea of naming them Cats of the Corsage but that its probable to a cat clan- if anyone can think of flower-related names that would be gr8t for the name.
hI ink! I'm glad you like it. That could be pretty good, although I don't think any flowers have an inherently negative meaning? Perhaps the cat has a choice- can follow the good side or the bad side of their flowers. But their personalities are not inherently based on their flower. It could show a possible conflict in their lives, give them an example of how to deal with certain problems, provide inspiration for certain things, etc. while also allowing the cat to recognize possible issues within themselves based on their negative flower meanings?
You are welcome to the medicine cat apprentice spot, but I'd like to get everything finalized first and then get into rank spots! If no one else expresses interest in the spot, it's yours c:
I'll do the coding- could you guys write up territories and such? I'll update the front post to show what needs to be done, etc.

WORDS All right, I've written everything up that needs to be done!
Ah, I see where you're going with that. That could definitely be a part of their culture- while every flower and every cat is to be treated delicately and nurtured and respected, there are just some flowers that carry a more negative connotation than the others. Cats can choose to follow the positive or the negative, it can go any way. I like that c:
I'd rather not have the name be centered on only one flower- something more open. I like the concept of another language- I like the french one the best. I'll name the roleplay something like La Fleur, and the clan name itself can be Fleurclan? Or Floraclan?

I like floraclan to though if you guys would rather go with that

WORDS I can certainly start on a flower list, but if we all could work together in compiling a whole bunch of flowers from all different biomes that would be great! Each flower name with their positive meaning and negative meaning. There are multiple websites regarding this- I will also look for some c:
Considering that the flowers are actually attached to the cat itself and grow within their bodies and present as flowers on the outside of their bodies, flowers are super important to everything they do! Blooms never grow too much to become a hinderance to a cat (we can call it sensitive and selective adaptation made the flowers inherently do this) but are always growing. They can be pruned, sheered, taken off, etc. but their central flower, the first flower they've ever had, can never be plucked out of the body no matter what force is done. The cat must first be killed in order for the central flower to be removed. It is not painful to have damage on the flowers, but there is a significant amount of tiredness and depressive feelings that occur when a bloom/bud/vine/part of the flower system is damaged. However, sometimes they are purposefully damaged!
For example like how Ink mentioned, we'll take mates. When cats become mates, they exchange a flower to eachother. Over the course of the day of agreement to become mates, this new flower will attach to the flowers of the feline it is given to. This typically would make the cats feel sad, but in this instance, it is joyful and happy feelings that occur as the mates become stronger in bond through this. It is also not painful to remove this, but since flowers are so, so important, it is generally a very sad day when mates separate as the flowers are removed from the perspective partners.
We could have it so that depending on their purposes, the flowers can be temporary in growth. When a cat becomes a mentor, they bestow one of their flowers to their mentee. When the apprentice becomes a full-fledged graduate, this flower is removed without feelings of depression- instead, there is a feeling of joy! And in that place there grows the new graduate's flowers, and the cycle continues.
What do you think about those kinds of things? c:
In general, blooms don't grow randomly on a cat. If a cat's central flower is on it's flank, any more flower growth will begin from there onwards- not scattered around!

That all sounds really cute. We just have to divide up the biomes for our list
And I feel like there should be something special with the leader. And maybe queens/kits? Like the kits get their mother's flower but then its replaced with theirs when they get it and that kind of determines where the flower grows?

WORDS We can certainly dice it up by biome, make everything easier! I'll try to find a uniform website where we can get out stuff off of. EDIT: the only place I can find a whole bunch is on wikipedia. I can copy and paste it and we can think up of random negative or positive meanings for flowers who only have one or the other.
I don't want to make the flower concept too complicated, but I understand having something different for the leaders. So leaders perhaps are the only cats whose flowers scatter. Wherever their main one are, the leader always grows a flower crown! Kits I like the concept of being bare when they're born, like little seedlings, nothin' growing yet until they open their eyes and can move around and are taken to the meadow where they are called to by their chosen flower!

WORDS Haha there are over 100 plants I just copied and pasted off of the wikipedia. If you could, can you both help distinguish plants from flowers? We are only utilizing flowering plants! And if a flower doesnt have a negative meaning or a positive meaning, to make one up for it? That way we can really shave off some unneeded plants while also getting meanings down. It's okay if meanings are repeated, we want it short and sweet- one positive meaning, one negative meaning, for each flower we're using.
