Xavier stood in an open field, the grass up to his knees. Two swords upon his back, crossed. Reaching up in one fluid movement he pulled the sword from their sheaths and slid into a still fighting stance. Shifting his feet, he moved into a defensive position before kicking out and returning to an offense position. It was the crack of dawn and he knew he should be in the palace resting, getting ready for his wedding but... Well, he couldn't sleep. He was getting married to his best-friend. something that should have made him beyond happy, but right now he felt terrified. Sighing, he sheathed his swords and rubbed his face tiredly. He'd gotten no sleep this last night. Great. Shaking his head, he flopped onto the ground and then to his back, sprawled out. What was he doing?

Xavier raised his head from the ground, turning it in the direction of the voice and he groaned. Then flopped back down. "Hiding?" he offered with a dry tone. Shaking his head, he sat up and shrugged lamely. "Pretty much hiding from the staff, mother, father... everyone." He couldn't deny the truth so, he wouldn't. Arching an eyebrow at Akimki he arched a single eyebrow. "You? What are you doing here?" Curiosity getting the better of him.

Xavier sighed but took the out reached hand and pulled himself up. Dusting his clothes he shook his head. "I am very excited!" he exclaimed, with some vigorous nods. "But... I dunno. I'm nervous now. What if I'm not as ready for this as I thought. I'm getting married for the God's sake! Me!" Waving his hand around, he paced back and forth in front of his friend. "Soon after I am supposed to be crowned king... King," he mumbled staring at the sky. Then he glanced at Akimi, nibbling at his lower lip. "It just all seems like so much so... soon." Sighing, he shook his head and gave a tired smile. "How are you in all this?"

(Hmm, do you want your guy to be the one he marries? I'm good either way.)

hm, it could cause drama if Akimi isn't but also i love happy endings,,,,rip according to the number generator he's not getting married let's go))
Akimi shrugged a bit, rubbing the back of his neck. "I mean, I'm nervous too, but I'm still happy for you." he couldn't hide the disappointment in his voice but hoped that Xavier wouldn't pick it up. "So long as you don't kick me out, I'll be fine," he added after a moment with a rather forced smile. Being the only apprentice to the castles primary tactician made that threat pretty much non-existent, but he wanted to try and lift the mood.

Xavier shook his head and laughs faintly. Not noticing the disappointment, as he was still rather caught up in his own worries. "No one is getting rid of you. You are stuck here forever," he assured the other with a grin. Then he rubbed his neck and glanced away, the horrible dark feeling coming back in full force as he thought about how things would change between the two of them. He loved his soon to be husband. But... There were regrets. There always would be, he knew. "A-any way," he cleared his throat after the initial stutter, looking mildly embarrassed. "We should get back to the palace. I think." Silently, he began to walk back towards home, hands clenched at his sides.

Akimi nodded, walking along with him in silence, clenching his fists as well. If he had known the kingdom would take a homosexual marriage so well he would have confessed a long time ago. Knowing he had missed his chance by a long shot was a heavy weight on his shoulders, but as of today, it was a weight he'd just have to bear. He only realized he'd been crying when one of the tears dripped onto his sleeve and he reached up quickly to wipe them away, ducking his head down in hopes that Xavier wouldn't see.
Ah, yes, the angst I crave, it has arrived.))

(Yay for sadness!!!!)
Xavier was distracted. But not even enough to not see the tears that silently made their way down Akimi's face and his whole body tensed. Gods. He hated when he cried. Taking a deep breath he stopped and turned towards his friend, stepping forward. After a moment of hesitation, he reached up and gently took the others chin, lifting it so he could get a clear view of his face. "Akimi, what's wrong?" he asked, voice filled with concern. Deep in his heart, he felt like he knew but no, he wouldn't accept something like that. That couldn't be why his friend was crying now. It couldn't.

Xavier snorted dryly and shook his head. "Come on, Akimi. We both know something is wrong. Please just tell me. I want to help," he insisted, moving his hands to his friend shoulders and gripping them lightly. "I can't focus on anything when you, one of my closest friends is clearly upset," the prince continued firmly. It was obvious that he wasn't letting this matter go anytime soon. He didn't care that he needed to be back at the palace. His friend was in need and he was going to help, no matter what.

Xavier was stunned. Before he knew what was happening he was being kissed and then let go. His emotions and thoughts all came to a sudden halt and he stood frozen, face like stone. How... He... Why... The prince couldn't process what just happened. Slowly he blinked a few times, trying to get his head wrapped around what had just happened. He'd been kissed. By Akimi. Akimi. Kissed. On the lips. By his friend who was not his soon to be husband. Shoot. "A-Akimi," he stammered out, completely unsure of what to do next. Shaking his head slowly, he moved his hands to the other's hood and pulled it back in one smooth motion. "You are going to need to explain yourself," was all he could manage to get out.

(Good morning! How are you?) "I disagree. I... You... Why didn't you ever say anything?" Xavier asked almost brokenly. How was he suppose to react to this? Then, of course, the others words returned to him and he cringed. He was getting married in just a few hours. Or was he? What?! Of course, he was! Seeing his friend scratch at an old scar, he shook his head and automatically took the others hand in his. "Stop that," he mumbled, half heartedly scolding.

(Nice! What'cha doing withtheh family?)
Xavier's heart clenched tightly in his chest at Akimi's words and he shook his head slowly. "I'm so sorry, Akimi. I can't even begin to imagine that pain or betrayal. I can see why you never said anything," he murmured very quietly. Then he sighed and reached up to touch his friends face lightly. "I... am not sure what to do now. It's true I am supposed to be married soon. But for a long time now my heart has been split between two people and I believed that I could live with the one choice I made but now... knowing how you feel. You are one of the two Akimi," the prince said slowly, choosing his words carefully.

Xavier sighed and stepped back, running a hand through his hair. "Thinking? No. Deciding... Yes. I can't do anything while my heart is being pulled to two people. It wouldn't be fair to anyone if I got married now, while I am doubting," he spoke firmly, eyes hard. He'd made his decision. "Come with me. I need to speak with everyone about this," he then said, before taking the other hand and leading him towards the palace. This was going to cause utter chaos but this was simply how it was going to be for now.

Breathing out deeply as they walked, he nodded. "Yes, I am positive. This is the right decision for now." Xavier felt his steps slow some as they reached the steps of the palace and his parents were at the top of them watching him, clearly confused. Great. He was hoping that he could get changed and gather his thoughts before this talk but nope. Clearly not going to happen. Letting go of his friend and, he turned his head towards him. "Why don't you go change and rest. I need to speak with them privately," he suggested. This was going to be hard enough as it was, and he could tell the other male was not dealing with this well himself.

Stepping out of the king's study, he rubbed his now sore face. In the middle of discussing things with his father and mother his lover had come in and well, he did not take his decision well. He had a nasty right hook, that was for sure. Shaking his head, he knew he deserved it and that this was not the end. But for now, he was relieved to no longer be questioned on his decision.
Nodding to himself, he turned and walked swiftly up the stairs. Now to speak with Akimi.
