“And you’d be surprised as well my clothing and Ashguard’s scales are made of super dense and thick scales. Only metal forged in the fire of a dragon could hurt us.” He replied as he looked the adventurer over and got up. At his next question, Thunder’s ears twitched and he looked up at Maverick. “Oh I am human like you, but I was raised nearly from birth with my brother here by our parents, dragons. I’ve seem to... acquire some dragon-traits.” He said as he bent down again and huffed Ashguard’s neck, and the black dragon hummed happily and curled his head around Thunder for a few moments. After this they let go of each other and Thunder looked at Maverick. Maverick rolled his eyes. As thick as his scales were, his sword would still get through it. "I didn't say what it was made out of," he reminded him, his voice a slight mumble now. Not to mention it had a spell on it too, but he didn't mention that part. He did say he collected certain items, well he used some of them too. He shook his head at what he said. "No, no that's not possible. You can't be fully human, you must have dragon in you, at least a little. Perhaps it just didn't show until later on in life," he observed aloud, squinting slightly as he spoke.

Thunder shrugged and smiled. "I like to think of it as I've acquired these traits by being raised by dragons and such for all my life. I don't care if I am partly dragon. All I like is that I have these traits now and I can be a good brother to Ashguard." He said, rubbing the dragon's head slowly. Thunder then looked at Maverick. "Now you said you needed some treasure?"

IC :: He gave a small laugh, not honestly realizing too much of anything she was doing or how she reacted. "Hey, we still need to explore the rest of this place right? Tell me about it as we explore! Like, describe it, basically!" Jack said making a move to start to get out of the water. There was still unexplored area in the cave, and he was determined to find it. Plus, he was trying to imagine it best he could.
Red nodded, then remembered his blindness and spoke instead. "Of course, let's go explore...this way!" She said happily and gently guided him over toward a hold on the wall. It wasn't the one Kar was in, it was further along the left. Padding inside she smiled. More open space! "Okay now we're in a large opening again. Not as big as the main room, and not as tall, but large enough. There's no exits except the one we came through, and there seems to be piles of paper on the left," she explained, hoping that was good enough for him. OoC :: words
IC :: The silver creature followed behind his friend trying to imagine the room in his mind. It didn't really work of course, but he used his tail and wings to help him figure out the room. When Red mentioned papers, his attention was caught with a little more in curiosity. He tilted his head before confirming, "Papers?" He hadn't thought Kar brought any papers along, much less could put them anywhere. But perhaps Jack was just a little.... blind to it. He continued to talk despite that, "Any idea what they are about? Or why they are here?"

Right. I doubt this gem is a part of your collection, but I am looking for a ruby about the size of my palm," he explained, but like he said he doubted it was part of their collection, it wouldn't have led Mav to the cave itself if it was.

She opened her mouth to explain better and turned to start toward them, but before she could, Kar's voice sounded from behind them. "They're scrolls," he explained, padding over to them and looking down at the piles. "Like I said, this was my home a long time ago, and I collected scrolls then," he said, picking up one of them with a claw, being surprisingly careful not to rip the old yellow paper. It seemed to be some sort of nursery rhyme. "I'm surprised to see them still here," he added with a chuckle. There was a lot here, from ancient rituals and spells to nursery rhymes and stories. It was probably worth a lot nowadays, seeing as everything was a book now, not to mention the chaos it could may well cause if someone got a hold of his more ancient ones. Of course he wasn't sure, as it had been so long ago. Now it was just old paper to him. Still, he didn't plan on letting them out of his cave if he could help it. "Feel free to go through them, just be cautious of what you read."

Ashguard growled and another charge built up in his throat. He didn't like this human, and usually he would go right up to new people and love on them without any hesitation. But this human, he was different in a way Ashguard didn't like.
Thunder put a hand in front of the dragon's muzzle, Ashguard instantly closing his mouth, and Thunder sighed. "Leave him buddy. Let's get him something to aid him." He said as he walked to the back of the cave with Ashguard turning and waddling bwck with him, their backs to Maverick.

Maverick looked at Ashguard, his expression unchanging as he charged up a shot. He knew there was no chance trying to dodge it, he would probably be dead, but on the inside he was kinda panicking. However as Thunder made him stand down, Mav did blink and let out a breath of relief. As they turned their backs to him, he frowned. Something to 'aid' him? There was nothing that he wanted here except that gem, and he wasn't leaving without it. It was likely they didn't even know it was in the cave. Swallowing, Mav carefully moved, walking toward the side of the cave to examine the walls, though he made no moves to get closer to the two.

Thunder disappeared from sight as he rounded a corner and Ashguard stayed where he was, turning to give Mav a steely cold glare. "Don't try anything mister." He growled as his mouth glowed again.

IC: Maverick looked over at the dragon as it growled at him. He then held up his hands quickly, walking away from the walls. "I didn't plan on it," he said carefully. He then tilted his head. "Say, why do you two live out here? Instead of the cities?" He asked. It wasn't like they would be thrown out, plenty of dragons and humans live together. Even people like Thunder, though rare, exist there.

"We've lived out here most of our lives. We aren't ones to live in crowded places." Thunder called out loudly as he rolled his rummaged around. Thunder was looking through the piles of stuff they had in the cave, moving piles of stuff and causing some stuff to fall and crash on the ground, making him flinch and his ears flicked due to his sensitive hearing, also getting a growl from Ashguard telling him to 'Watch it!' Before he continued to shuffling around. Eventually he found something and smiled, silently putting it in a pocket in his cloak before continuing to shuffle around. He then grabbed some gold and trinkets and stuffed them in an old leather bag before getting up and walking back out and, as he passed his brother, slipped another small item beneath his wing, imperceptible to others. Thunder walked up to Maverick and held out the bag. "We can't give you the gem you seek, but there is plenty of gold here to satisfy you for a while." He said as he watched the human carefully, his own movements precise and calculated, prepared for a defense if Maverick attacked

He said as he watched the human carefully, his own movements precise and calculated, prepared for a defense if Maverick attacked Maverick shrugged and nodded, seemingly satisfied by his answer. He grimaced and flinched as he heard him clanging things around. He didn't like the coins of that noise. When he came back out, obviously Mav didn't see the exchange, though he had a feeling they were hiding something. He didn't trust them at all. When Thunder offered him the bag of gold, he let out a suppressed laugh. "I am no treasure hunter, you cannot bribe me," he said with amusement clear in his voice. "I have no interest in your gold," he added, resisting the temptation. It was gold after all. He looked down, shaking his head. Obviously he would have to explain himself, as much as he didn't want to. "You see, the gem has a certain...property," he carefully pulled out the sword at his side. "It belongs to this, and this sword is the only key into the dungeon it resides in. And the dungeon appears to be in this cave according to my map," he explained reluctantly. Of course, the dungeon could be broken into, but it had to be found first. Plus doing so would damage ancient architecture.

“And you seem to be mistaken. I’m not giving you this gold in place of the gem, it’s tHt we do not have the gem at all.” Thunder replied as he shrugged and tossed the bag back to Ashguard and turned back to Mav. “If you look at your map, the marker on the cave is actually slightly higher than what this cave is resembled by. You’re looking for the next cave up.” He said, pointing to the cave ceiling where there was a bunch of symbols and runes, probably some kind of spell set on the cave above. “Ashguard and I can’t go in because, as you showed us, you have the sword the gem belongs in. And no one can enter the cave until the seal is broken by the sword.” He said, then looked back at Ashguard. “Ashguard, show him what we mean.”
Ashguard grinned a sickly smile then tipped his head back and shot a blast, narrowly missing the two humans, and it hit the ceiling and exploded. What happened next made it evident they weren’t the holders of the gem. Instead of the whole ceiling shaking and falling, the runes lit up where the blast hit and had created a form of force field that blocked the shot.

IC :: Jack's ears moved to focus on the sound of Kar as he entered. He listened to him explain what they were, before drooping a little at the end. The scrolls seemed like they would be interesting, he was genuinely curious about it. His head hung and wings drooped were caused due to the fact he couldn't read. And not the fact he didn't know how to read, he could spell and potentially write things, but he was a little blind. Really blind, and it was times like this he realized he couldn't do the same things as those who could see. He tried to not let it show, lifting his wings a little instead as to not show the droop. "It sounds really cool! I wonder what type of things we could find in them, Red!"
