Jack Minett "Don't consider my kindness a weakness. The beast in me is sleeping, not dead." - x - The three others with him were scared, he could see it, he could... feel it. He may not be good with magic that really had anything to do with being aware of his surroundings, but he had his people skills to help with that. The twenty-seven year old closed his eyes and took in a deep breath, counting backwards from ten in Spanish. Languages never were an easy thing for him to even bother trying to speak, but with Andres speaking Spanish to him most of his youth, he was able to speak that one language. Jack opened his eyes, looking at the people around the city gawk and stare at them as the cart moved forward, feeling like some circus animal being shown off at how vicious or exotic it was. Straightening his posture, the Irish man lifting his chin a bit and looked between Zehmira, Arya and Rhyne. It was enough time to be pouting and more of a time to put on a show, wasn't it?
If there was one thing Jack knew how to do, it was how to charm people, how to use their feelings and how to use himself as its own sort of weapon. Words were just as useful as any sword or bow. Sweet-talking a girl or making the right kind of man have your back and you could easily be set. Flirting with others was a natural thing, easy for him to do.
Deep breath Jackaboy. Lisah fī nās lāzim aḥmīhum. No need to give up yet, the twenty-seven year old thought to himself, feeling his body posture fix itself and mentally pulling everything together. It wasn't the first time that he had looked into the face of death and it wouldn't be the last time that he would. If he was to give up now, then that would be non-sense. There were people that still needed him and these three, they needed some sort of light on this black cloud of a mood that was over them.
"So, lassies an' lad, what does a house wear, do'ya know?" the smile on his face was already there, that regular gentle one. Of all the things that happened, you could always count on him for smiling. Now, what type of smile it was, that was the thing to watch out for. Most of the time, he had his usual gentle and soft smile, or his joking and mischievous one. It was always the eyes that gave it away. But if you did the wrong thing, do something that was wrong in even his eyes, such as hurt one of the guild members... that smile would turn into a dark and sinister one in less than a second. Jack waited a moment before continuing, letting them take into the words of the joke he was beginning to state. "A dress."
As stupid as it was, it was one of those ones that you couldn't help but smile or roll your eyes at. If you ever needed a source of jokes, no matter what kind, it was always Jack that had at least ten on his mind that he could use. His mismatched eyes scanned over the three with him, a gentle look in both. Zehmira's words held true to him and he wasn't planning on trying to fight until hell was to break loose, pun intended there. A smirk formed from that smile on his lips as he glanced over at the girl. "Aye, ya have no problem with me charmin' an' flirtin' with anyone." The words were just as soft and barely a whisper just as before, his eyes lighting up almost as if this was a fun challenge. "It's my specialty, after all."
Later rather than sooner, Jack found that the cart had stopped and that they were being brought down to the cell that they would be held in for quite a while. Not for the rest of their lives, not if he had anything to do it with. These three would be getting out, that was for sure. Rhyne was brought out in front of him, then it was Ayra. While he would have liked to wait to be last, luck didn't have it that way as his arms were forcefully grabbed and he was hauled out of the cart. "Oi, t'at be a strong grip ya got t'ere. Quite nice, if I do say so m'self. It's always t'e strong ones t'at get all t'e pretty ones, right lad?" That smile never left his lips as he closed his blue eye in a wink at the guard, who seemed almost a bit confused at his statement. Noticing that there was a large group around him, he put up a grin. "Aw, t'ank ye! It's like yer puttin' up all t'is effort fer us. T'e fact t'at ye t'ink we're so dangerous makes me heart warm up, just a wee bit. T'at is, if ye really believe t'at I'm a cold-blooded killer."
Leaving those words to go on, the twenty-seven year old held his head up high as he was paraded into the yard and then down the long hallway, the countless piles of heavy stone and iron that made up the jail. Mismatched eyes scanned over the other prisoners, curious at whom they were going to be around. He held himself in such a way to seem curious about everyone, instead of a brand new criminal to be put behind bars and eventually, hung. Jack let out an internal sigh that there were four to a cell, meaning he and the others would be safe to stick together.
"This place looks so bleak, even fer ye guards. It's too bad ye don't get t'at much decent company very often. I'm sure since yer t'e ones te t'ank fer keepin' t'e streets safer, ye should at least get a 'lil honor," the man gave a small shrug and looked the other way for a moment with a small hum. "But t'at's jus' me. Good-lookin', strong men like yerselves should get a 'lil bit of nicer t'ings once in a while fer puttin' yer lives at risk." Was that a gentle smile towards those that he considered his enemy? Yes. Yes it was. Jack gave a small sigh though his nose and looked around him. Just a temporary set-back, nothing more than a place to see. Those mismatched eyes scanned over the area that they were in, taking in the weakness and routes of escape or battle that were given to them.
Turning to Arya, he nodded at her words and moved to sit down with his back to the wall, closing his eyes as he felt the damp, cold stone against his head. Looking at Rhyne, he only gave a soft laugh. "Lad, ya need te lay down. That's not a offering from me, that's a command. Lay down and rest because we're gonna need ya. You're the strong one, aren't 'cha? Rest up and heal up, for our sake and well as yours." His gaze went over to Arya and then he patted the ground next to him. "As fer you, m'lady, please get your rear end over here. No need to bother standin' like that, and it's quite cold 'ere. I feel like you'll freeze up. Don't argue it, just get over here." Typical Jack, if it wasn't to be expected. The big brother of everyone, it almost seemed like, he had this natural protective instinct over his guild, the people that made up the only family he had left. He was no leader and wasn't the one to go to for plans, but he was sure as hell someone to count on to take care of you and have your back.
"What a day, am I right?" he mused soft with a soft chuckle, closing his eyes. "Anyone want to hear another joke?"

Kade
It was no surprise that there were differing opinions on what should be done. All of them, frustratingly, made perfect sense. Cypress of course had a good point. Theoretically, it could be weeks before the four in prison so much as moved from their cell. Meanwhile, attacking the residence of the king would require a detailed plan and enough people to successfully complete the mission. On the other hand, Mara's argument was one of merit as well. There would be other opportunities in the future to infiltrate the castle. The difficult thing was knowing which would come first. Waiting on either end would mean risking the loss of opportunity in the future. It was also within the realm of possibility that a hanging would be scheduled tomorrow. Or that the royal family would somehow learn of the threats on their lives and move to a safer location. The question was which were they more willing to risk? The answer was easy for Kade. But he knew that others were justified in their disagreement. It pained him physically the idea of postponing the rescue. Even the thought of his four friends in that prison made his blood boil. Yet dedicating all of their energy toward the rescue was the opposite of practical.
It was Odette who spoke the most sense. When she was finished giving her argument, he moved from his spot leaning against the wall. "Alright, I agree. It will be risky to split our forces into half, but seems the most logical. The cost of losing the four in prison is more than just an emotional one. They are extremely valuable to this team. And there's no way we're waiting another four years for an opportunity to take out so many key players in the government. So that is what we'll do. Four of us will organize a rescue and the other five will go through with the agenda." He looked them all over, dark brows knit. All of them looked oddly young. Perhaps it was the setting, but he was reminded of his days in the orphanage. Perhaps it was the enormity of the task before them.
"I will lead the rescue efforts. Ataima will be most valuable there. Mara, you will help me as well as Evonne and Daniel. The rest of you, Ilai, Odette, Vivienne, Cypress, and Julian, I trust to develop a strategy for the assassination. Fine?"
Once it was decided it felt as though he had sold all their souls to a sewer rat in exchange for a dead minnow and a pocket full of lint. Was he doing the wrong thing? Probably, but unfortunately one of his talents was not precognition. He ran his hand through his hair and then directed his team to a private corner of the room.
"Let's meet over here and begin discussing ideas. The other group, you can do the same. By the end of the night we can get together and run over what we've decided. And then our time will be up."
