Josephine Hathaway
Well, that first day had been an absolute fiasco, but lucky for her Josephine had been able to put the day behind her. With the start of the semester, Jo had been able to distract herself with the day to day struggles that came with being an engineering major. Sure, her work load may have been substantially calmer than that of her junior year.
Instead, the four classes she was enrolled in were comprised of subjects that some would think didn’t exist. Nothing like waking up early to get a good seat for her Linear Statistical Modeling class. Then there was a Design Collaboration seminar where she was required to work with a select group of classmates on a semester project.
So where did that leave the female in question? Well, Josephine was once again proving that despite how hard your schedule was, there was always time for self care, aka me time. Josephine’s preferred method of choice was yoga. It was something anyone could take up, no matter their experience or physical capacity.
Jo herself had taken up the practice when she had injured herself in high school. It had been a low point in her life, tearing her ACL. It was especially devastating when you were a dedicated ballerina who spent the majority of her day balancing on a surface that was 1 inch wide. It had been a slow recuperation, but it allowed her to blow out steam in ways that she wasn’t used too. She had kept the routine up ever since.
Today she was balancing herself in an different way. Low ambient music was playing from a portable speaker on her bed. Josephine wasn’t paying too much attention to it, that and the sounds of her breath were more distracting to her ears- that and the sound of blood rushing to her head.
Josephine’s lithe body was twisted into Kapotasana, a deep backbend that seemed pretty unnatural for most people. Her shins were pressed to the floor as she rested her forearms against the back of her calves. Her forehead almost reached the floor. Almost. Her eyes closed, Josephine let out a airy whine as she let her back bend ever more so slightly. Beads of sweat were starting to collect on her hairline and roll down into her lashes.
She had almost reached her goal when suddenly there was a loud thump, followed by several more concerning bumps. Scared out of the pose, Josephine started onto her side with a gasp. What the h3ll was that? Drawing her eyebrows together in confusion, Josephine slowly pushed herself to a standing position and wandered into the main room of the flat. No one there. Huh.
No one home. The lass didn’t know who was currently home besides her, but when you live with a crowd then you are seldom left alone. Walking forward, she eventually reached a door that was ajar- Charlie and Tyler’s room. Frowning, Josephine picked up the pace and was about to duck her head into the room when she saw him. Tyler, was on a floor littered with plate fragments. Upon closer inspection, she could see that he was unconscious.
“Oh-OH MY GOODNESS”, she exclaimed. Her doe eyes somehow grew ten times in size and she rushed forward, basically falling down to his side as she rushed to get to him. “Tyler, honey, are you okay????”, her voice was shrill and loud. In a matter of words, Josephine was shook. Leaning up on her knees, Josephine surveyed the scene surrounding them both. A half-eaten slice of pizza was strewn in the near distance. Josephine also noticed that his leg looked wonky. triggered
With shaky hands, Josephine fished her cellphone from the waistband of her leggings and dialed 911.
“Umm yeah, I have a friend who is unconscious, and his leg. I think it may be broken.”, she started listening eagerly to the person on the other end of the phone.
“YES! Oh sorry, um, the address of my apartment is ….”, she rattled off the necessary information she was asked to recite. “Tyler? He is my…roommate”, she answered another question slowly. I mean, she wasn’t wrong.
Eventually ending the call and leaning forward to look at Tyler’s face again. She knew better than to move him, there could be spinal injuries that she didn’t know about. She started to notice some blood seeping through his shirt on his shoulder. “Poor baby..”, she whimpered and placed a gentle hand on his forehead, pushing his hair back ever so lightly..
In the mean time of waiting, Josephine took out her phone and texted the flat group chat lets just pretend they made one.
To: Flatmates
Not to alarm anyone, but Ive just called EMS. Tyler fell down, he needs to go to the hospital.
The text was simple and kinda lacking, but she was too stressed out to write out a long and intricate message describing the situation.

ELLA WILLS ◘ ◘ ◘ ◘
Ella had made her space in the flat quite homey, the way she'd had it at home. The small, rectangular room had beckoned to her, reminding her of the little room she'd had at home. Her family was always living in a small apartment, which had left Ella in a small room. As dumb as it was, the small room made her feel a little more at home. The door was placed in the center of a wall. Along the wall were mounted hooks, from which coats, hats, and other items hung at easy access. A loft bed that had a thick, grey duvet that complemented the pastel blue walls took up the whole wall to the left of the door. It was supported by a black frame and ladder. The little young lady could practically disappear into its comforting floof, among pastel blue and purple pillows. Underneath her loft bed was a wardrobe made of dark wood, where she'd unpacked her clothes into. She'd analyzed her closet for hours, making sure that every shirt could be matched with at least two pairs of pants. She wondered why she cared so much, and deduced that fitting in, but not too much was the only way to get through college. Next to the wardrobe was a dresser, which was already covered with a brush, a stack of newspapers, journals, and cookbooks, and some framed pictures on the surface. Against the wall opposite of the door was a desk and spinning chair. The desk was complete with little drawers, a desktop light, and several chargers to various electronics, as well as cameras, a phone, a desktop computer and a laptop. Above the desk were several news stories, some entirely unrelated, some following a developing story. Some were reports that were controversial to the same news story. Some were positive, some were negative, they were a medley and myriad of different topics from humanitarian to crime. Some of the clippings were from her own town. A whole section of the wall had been set aside for baking recipes, a favorite pastime for Ella. The remaining wall was covered from corner to corner with books on wall shelves. Each of the books were organized alphabetically by author, in their separate genres. Ella had come to the flat loaded with books, newspaper clippings, and recipes. Especially with books. Most of them were realistic fiction, the second most genre being fantasy and science fiction, then poetry. Several thick cookbooks took up at least two shelves on the wall.
Ella looked up and down her wall, trying to find the perfect recipe to start off on a good note with her flatmates. Her eyes settled on a cinnamon cookies with milk and white chocolate chips. She went out to the store, walking up and down the linoleum aisles, searching for her ingredients. She stared wistfully at a bag of chopped walnuts, but passed them up, noting that she didn't know the allergies of the group. She hoped she didn't start an allergic reaction, that would be counter productive.
Ella returned to the flat, her bags heavy with flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, unsalted butter, white sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, and milk and white chocolate chips. She'd also hauled back a bunch of cooking appliances, from handheld blenders to mixing bowls and the likes. Not wanting to be bothered by multiple trips, she had brought a large bin to put all her supplies in, and held the bags of groceries while carrying the bin inside. The straps of the cheap plastic bags dug into her arms, and she held her arms at 90 degree angles to keep from dropping her bags. She stumbled over the steps, nearly dropping everything. She let out a sigh of relief as she regained her footing, shaking her dirty blonde hair out of her face. Hopefully everything went without a hitch.
A ring of her phone summoned her to pull out her cell, and she noticed it was a message from the group chat. Tyler? Right, he was the one with the thick rimmed glasses. He was hurt? How bad? Her throat closed up, and she went to put her cooking supplies down in the kitchen, stopping in front of Josephine and Tyler.
"Um..." She hadn't expected for them to be right in the kitchen. She surveyed the scene, wincing at the sight of his leg, and the blood blooming on his shirt. She quickly set down the bin and groceries, flexing her fingers nervously. "How can I help?"

barnaby j. sæther
The next few days flew by without further any further incidents (thankfully. Barnaby didn't know if he could handle another verbal smack down). He mostly avoided the rest of the flat, save Nolan, as per first impressions he didn't think he could actually stand being around any of them (again, barring Nolan and sometimes Theo). That was why, besides sleeping, the male kept himself out of the flat. Thankfully, a full courseload as well as sports practice, his own personal fitness habits, and his presumed social life kept him out of the flat from approximately 7 am to 7 pm everyday (sometimes later if there was a party that he just couldn't bear to miss).
This fine evening, however, Barns™ had the night off, and Barnaby wasn't in the mood for socialization. Holed up in his and Nolan's bedroom, he had attempted to get ahead in some textbook readings for his anatomy class but quickly decided that opening up the textbook, briefly glancing over the title page, then closing the textbook was more than enough work for the night. With the dejected text tossed haphazardly aside on his unmade bed, Barnaby picked up his handy dandy trusted portable video game device. He flicked the lights off in the room before crawling into bed and wrapping himself up in a blanket shoved into the corner where his bed met the wall. The only light came from the DS as he turned the dang thing on, illuminating the proximate vicinity with a bright blueish white light.
Were there better, more important things he could be doing with his evening than playing Pokemon while hiding out in his shared bedroom? Sure. Was he going to do them? Heck no. Already today Barns™ had gotten up early, gone for his morning run, attended all his daily classes (wish was an accomplishment unto itself), and completed practice, all with his daily workout, writing out lecture notes, and some socialization time with The Ladies thrown somewhere into that mix. Needless to say, Barnaby was exhausted and ready for bed despite it being, what, no later than 7:30 - 8 pm?
It was this laziness, this tiredness that kept Barnaby's bum planted firmly in it's comfy spot on his bed despite hearing an undeniable 'thump' across the hall. Surely with his door closed and lights off, no one would even suspect he was home. He could just ignore said thump, and everything would be fine.
Of course, it wasn't, as a few minutes later his phone buzzed as he was in the middle of battling a stubborn Dragonite. Looking up only once the darn thing had fainted, Barnaby was genuinely surprised to see a message in the 'Flat Chat' (which had remained unused until this moment) from one of his Mortal Enemies. The fact that the message was from Nolan's ex was overshadowed by the content of said message. Shirtless Guy in Corner, who Barnaby later found out to be Tyler (he preferred SGiC but whatever), had fallen help i've fallen and i can't get up. Life Alert and from the sounds of it was seriously hurt given the fact that the paramedics were on their way.
He had a few options in this situation, thankfully. He could choose to ignore the message and his potentially dying roommate (who he hadn't decided if he liked or not anyway, so perhaps letting him go would be his best option?), leave dealing with everything to whoever happened to be in the flat currently. He decided that letting someone die was wrong, even if he didn't know said person very well (unless the person was Nolan's ex. Or her minions. Then it was fine).
Begrudgingly, Barnaby placed Growlithe and Dragonite aside. Exiting his cave of darkness in nothing but sweatpants and socks (he ditched his blanket in the foot of his bedroom doorway), he closed the short distance between his abode and Tyler's in a few reluctant strides. To his surprise, Nolan's ex was not alone. Another girl (he recognized her face but didn't recall ever hearing her name), Blonde #3, was giving the limp body a wide-eyed stare.
"I don't think there's anything we can do," he answered he question in an authoritative, though uncertain tone, "unless he regains consciousness." Barnaby crossed into the room through the door frame to stand beside Blonde #3 . "We shouldn't move him... right?" he asked uncertainly, briefly giving Nolan's ex a hard look that faded as a frown grew on his face. He crossed his arms over his chest, as he stepped closer to get a better look at the battered boy on the floor.
"We should make sure the way is clear," he thought aloud, turning his head back to look at Blonde #3. "So they can get in here and get him out as quickly as possible," he explained briefly. Passing his amber gaze back over to an unconscious Tyler and a worried Jo, Barnaby decided he would briefly bury his dislike for Jo (even if she was a heartbreaking manipulative coward). For Tyler's sake.
