Yay! I'm loving that intro. The coding for the daily new looks great! I'll type up a more complete entry for the first plot point. Is it modern day or what? Just so I can get a sense of the time for the news... hm, what else do we need to work on? I'm game for helping with anything.

Yup, sure. I'll work on that. Will we have a section of notes/setting/explanations by itself then, I guess? Like separate from the Daily News?
And yeah, no problem! I edited yours so it'd be hypocritical otherwise. I'll start on some stuff

The Syndicate
There was a time when we were different people. We were young and foolish and filled with hope a perfect Sterling City, free from "evil." See, evil is a relative term. We thought that we were radical, that we were saving the city that had failed us. We were naive.
And so we fought and we fought for what we called "good," day after day, night after night. We never rested, we never stopped striving to meet our impossible goal. You'd think we'd be loved, lauded for the sacrifices we made. Sterling City, though? It never did anything to repay us, never did anything more than laugh at us. It was us alone against the world.
So one day after the mission that earned us our fame, we realized something. We had sacrificed everything - and for what? We realized that Sterling City was never going to change, that there was no point to this endless struggle. We had reached our last straw. And so we changed, adapted. Some say for the worse, but I say for the better. We became stronger. We only offered protection to those who needed it, and at a price. Gone were our days of innocence. The city had left us nothing, and so we claimed what was ours.
Now we own Sterling City. We gave everything for this city and all it did was take. So we did what was right, we stopped giving and took back what was ours. There's opposition to us of course, but who cares? This city is ours. The Septet
They were the city's most brilliant minds, filled with ingenuity, they possessed a heart greater than most. But gone are the days of heroics. Known as 'The Septet', these seven, originally saviors of the city have become capo regimes for The Syndicate, a large criminal organization that now rules the city with an iron fist.
pride Associated with the color violet and the animal the horse. Pride is the one who gets the job done; a perfectionist; that never stops working until they achieve what they want; arrogant and fulfilled with righteous self-belief. Pride is known for controlling courts, police, politicians, etc.
envy Associated with the color green and the animal the dog. Envy covets what is not theirs; they always wants to be as good as the rest and they are known for their underhand tactics to get what they want regardless of what it is. Envy runs a protection racket for the rich/middle class shops
gluttony Associated with the color orange and the animal the pig. Gluttony is an alcoholic; they are somewhat unpredictable and selfish, only thinking of themself. They are drunk most of the time and is prone to abusive fits. Gluttony runs a sketchy bar that is ran through blackmailing and theft.
lust Associated with the color blue and the animal the cow. Lust is the one making bodies move and living up in the light of glamour; they're a silver tongue, capable of making people do what they want. Lust runs a den of iniquity and a cat house in the rich area.
anger Associated with the color red and the animal the bear. Anger is the combatant; the capo who picks all the fights, who hits first and talks later; they are known to be the first to the battle and the last to leave. Anger runs an illegal fighting ring and is an arms dealer
greed Associated with the color yellow and the animal the frog. The money man, Greed never has enough of anything. They always want more and pursues improvement. They never knows when enough is enough. Greed is in control of banks and casinos
sloth Associated with the color light blue and the animal the goat. Sloth is high all the time. They are into drugs and lackadaisical; dismissive and generally ignores their problems. Sloth runs a drug warehouse

Welcome to Sterling City, the biggest, baddest city around. It's the year 2000 and Sterling City has been thrown into chaos by The Syndicate and The Sentinels, who will stop at nothing until they destroy each other. Corruption runs amok and the gap between the rich and poor has widened with the reign of the Septet, so much so that the city has been split in three.
To the north lies the uplands at a higher elevation than the rest of the city, where the wealthy live and deal. Nicknamed The Gold District, it's exactly what it sounds like: those who care about nothing but money and power. In the east of this area lies The Strip, a small shopping area home to the most extravagant boutiques and businesses around. On The Strip lies The Gold Mine, Greed's luxurious casino, where hundreds of thousands of dollars exchange hands in the blink of an eye. A few blocks down lies The Cathouse, or The Den of Pleasure though no one calls it that. Lust runs her house, full of glamour and lights, to please the richest tastes and meet the rich's most primal desires. The western area holds residential areas, chock full of mansions. In the very center lies what's been nicknamed The Jungle, because here anything goes and you have to fight to survive. It's the government area, home to the City Hall and The Courthouse, not to mention some of the most vicious politicians around. The Jungle is Pride's domain. At the edge of the jungle lies the Police Headquarters, though everyone, especially the police, know it's a joke. Everyone in The Gold District pays homage to The Syndicate.
Looking south, there is a middle-class area. Called the Silver Streets, it's likely the safest place to be. The Syndicate has little influence here, as blue-collar works have no time to be interested in the luxuries of the rich or the dirty dealings in the slums. The Sentinels generally regard this as their home base, as it's the safest area for them to be. At the northern end of this district is the business area, which contains small, usually locally-run shops. To the south are modest apartments. Smack-dab in the center, surrounded by businesses, lies The Square. Reminiscent of Times Square but less flashy, this is the place where people congregate when they want to make themselves known. Right off The Square there is a second, smaller Police Branch, which people take even less seriously
Finally, at the bottom of the barrel with the lowest elevation, Sterling City has its slums. In the Bronze Row, or as it is more commonly referred to as, Skid Row, chaos runs wild. Drugs, money, fights and more are common; people struggle to survive. The police have given up on this part of town. Buildings are falling apart, but there are a few still in useable condition. The Tavern, a sketchy bar that sells any type of alcohol on the cheap, is Gluttony's joint. He runs it alongside other bars. Sloth, with his drugs, runs the streets. His warehouse, well-hidden, is known as The House. If you can find him, you can find any type of stimulant in existence. The most popular entertainment is The Death Ring, an underground fight club where people compete for money. Technically illegal, Anger manages it alongside his weapons business, which is mainly run through his storehouse, The Fire Shack. Lust and Greed both have their own establishments as well. The Den, or the Den of Iniquity, is Lust's loud, coarse brothel and it's right next to The Nightowl, Greed's second casino. Half of the residents of Skid Row side with the Syndicates, half with the Sentinels, who try to act as their saviors. It's a mixed bag, which makes it all the more dangerous.

like idk I could make each file look like this - PrideAlphonse Fournier "You pride yourselves on being wolves, but you are all sheep." You Work For Me - Laura Mvula Fifty-One - Intelligence Agent & Lawyer - The Septet
A tall lithe man, Alphonse Fournier reaches the height of 6'1" with a build composed of lean solid muscles, weighing in at a about 195 lbs. He is a man of French and Indian descent with olive colored skin and piercing dark blue eyes. His face is easy on the eyes with his high cheekbones and prominent hook nose. He has a pair of thin lips and a pair of ferocious eyebrows. His hair is black with white dusting his temples and the center of his hair due to age. His hair is usually styled in a number of manners, proving that he spends a rather copious amount of time in front of a mirror. He has a light scruff, an educated man's 5 o' clock shadow groomed carefully In addition, the man has a collection of tattoos. The words 'Victorieux' are carefully tattooed on his neck, a pair of snakes lay upon his back, curling in towards a yin and yang symbol, and across his left wrist is a tattoo of the king chess piece. Among his visible scars are two knife scars running down his right cheek and a nasty knife scar across his lip. He also has a number of knife scars on his hands, arms, and torso in addition to a number of bullet wounds on his torso. It is hard to spot this man out of his element, always sporting dashing attire. Though his body may be scarred, Alphonse's vanity and ego certainly isn't.
Alphonse Fournier is a disarming man. Intelligent, charming, courteous, and diplomatic, he's a political wolf. He fits in well with pulling the strings behind the puppet show. He's an actor, cautious with every move, sociable, and versatile. However, such traits are easily followed by his cynical and cruel nature. His sharp tongue is met with a dishonest edge and his actions backed by his ruthless, overcritical, and prideful behavior.
History
Not much is known of Alphonse's past. The man, despite his show man personality and ability to hold an audience, rarely ever speaks of the past. From what little was garnered, the man once had a family. A wife he loved and children he adored. Keyword: Had.
Born in an unforgiving city, Alphonse Fournier proved from a young age he was a survivor. He was not to be trifled with and much less tossed aside like trash. He ran with the wrong sort in his younger days, eager to prove himself and survive in a world that looked down on children like him, full of faith and childish innocence. He scraped by, waging psychological wars and turning sides. His ability to thrive in a state of chaos did not go unnoticed.
Impressed by Alphonse's ability to control situations, after graduating high school and applying for a college with a full ride on a scholarship, a clandestine organization offered him a job offer too luxurious for a poor boy to turn down. From there, things went down hill.
His work was good work. He saved lives, stole information, and planted seeds of doubt in politicians. All those skills he had learned from a young age showed their merit, but the work demanded more than just a cunning mind, but also a steel heart. The Organization demanded more of him than just simple jobs. Sometimes it was a bullet, a vial of poison, or a false accident.
However, after having met the love of his life, Alphonse Fournier returned to Sterling City, hoping to settle down for good. Little did he know that fate did not have happiness in store for him. The first ten years of their marriage was the happiest he would ever remember being. Then there had been the call to arms, the original rally that had brought the Septet together.
Accepting the terms and conditions of working as a member of The Septet, Alphonse dedicated his time and efforts to the cause with the desire to better the place his son would grow up in and the city he had known to be home - imperfect as it was.
However, actions had consequences. In order to shut down his involvement in the Septet, extremists took away his reason. His reason to live, to fight, and to get up every morning.
The plan was originally to kill him and his family, but due to a brief strike of luck, Alphonse found himself half way across the world on a job. When he returned home, the house had been quartered off by police and marked as a crime scene. The event didn't just break his heart, it broke him. Something inside the man snapped that day. Something that led him down a vile and dark path.

Okay how's this for a plot summary that I can throw into the coding [ this would mean everything is done if y'all r good on joining through pm + character page ]
also how are these for virtues + animals: humility - elephant kindness - deer temperance - owl chastity - dove patience - cat liberality - lion diligence - bee
Set in the year 2000 in Sterling City, Run This Town follows the story of a city overran by corruption. The streets are filled with violence and bloodshed, people kill people everyday and the world moves on. Decades ago, there were a group of seven, referred to as The Septet, who tried to stand up against the system. The Septet gave up everything in order to preserve the world they loved so much, but in the ending their efforts were for naught. Once renowned for their justice and heart, The Septet changed in time.
After receiving nothing for their efforts, they gave up. They had worked hard to protect Sterling City, but a realization hit them. There was no point. Change was never coming. The people of Sterling City didn't need small statements, they needed a guiding hand. As a result, The Septet took over Sterling City under the guidance of an unknown individual. They took control of the city and formed a criminal organization known as The Syndicate. Each one of the original Septet moved on to run their own rackets as corruption ran rampant.
However, from the ashes of their deeds rise a group of vigilantes known as The Sentinels. Hoping to fix the city, The Sentinels have laid their eyes on public enemy number one. The Syndicate and The Septets are the first obstacle in saving Sterling City. As a result, The Sentinels take drastic measures and plant a bomb in order to kill one of the Septets. The ploy backfired and failed to kill the Septet, instead causing public outlash at The Sentinels' actions causing them to be hunted fugitives in the eye of the law. However, the bomb was just the first of many attacks meant to destroy The Syndicate, piece by piece.

Here's an edited version.
Set in the year 2000, Run This Town follows the story of Sterling City, which has become overrun by corruption. The streets are filled with violence and bloodshed, people are murdered everyday, and yet the world moves on. Decades ago, there were a group of seven, referred to as The Septet, who tried to stand up against the system. The Septet gave up everything in order to preserve the world they loved so much, but in the end their efforts were for naught. Once renowned for their justice and heart, The Septet began to change.
After receiving nothing for their efforts, they gave up. They had worked hard to protect Sterling City, but a realization hit them: there was no point. Change was never coming. Their philosophy changed; they thought that the people of Sterling City needed a heavy, guiding hand. As a result, The Septet took over Sterling City under the leadership of an unknown individual. They seized control of the city and formed a criminal organization known as The Syndicate. Each one of the original Septet moved on to run their own rackets as corruption ran rampant.
However, from the ashes of their deeds rose a group of vigilantes known as The Sentinels. Embracing the old values of the Syndicate and hoping to fix the city, The Sentinels have laid their eyes on public enemy number one: The Syndicate and, most importantly, The Septet. As a result, The Sentinels take drastic measures and have planted a bomb in order to kill a member of the Septet. The ploy backfired and failed to kill their target, instead causing public outlast at The Sentinels' actions through the corrupt media. The predators have become prey; now they are hunted fugitives in the eye of the law. The Sentinels are far from done, though. The bomb was just the first of many attacks meant to destroy The Syndicate, piece by piece.

Welcome to Sterling City
The scent of smoke fogged up the air, he didn't know where he was running. Gun powder. Full of rage and venom, it spread like a wildfire. There was no escape. A loud crack sounded and pain flooded through him. His sensations were overwhelmed by the agony crawling through his veins as his assailant walked up behind him.
Tears streamed down his face as he tried to get to his feet, the bullet in his leg making the task harder than it was supposed to be. "Please," he choked out, raising a hand in a gesture of compliance. "Oh, God please. Don't kill me."
"There ain't no time for that. You owe my boss a large sum, and if you can't pay it with money, then you pay it with your life." The gun leveled with his head, and for a moment he felt nothing. No fear, no hope, no desire. Just emptiness. 'Bang!'
He squeezed his eyes shut but nothing came. Nothing happened. Opening his eyes in surprise he found himself still alive, grasping his chest to make sure he was still alive. He could still smell the potent scent of copper that followed carnage, something this city was prone to. Turning his head slightly, he saw the body of The Syndicate henchman, frozen in death. He swallowed hard, tense with fear. Footsteps sounded behind him, the distinct sound of shoes grinding against gravel echoing in his head. "Run on home, these streets aren't safe." A loud sigh followed those words.
"Sterling City isn't safe for anyone anymore."

Rules
So I can see you're interested in joining. That's pretty good news for me. So let's go over the basics of what I want. This will be fast because I hate rules sections, after all. This roleplay will have 7 members. That's the member cap because, you guessed it, it's a small group roleplay.
This roleplay is considered advanced. This means I expect good solid responses that are at least 2 paragraphs in length, each paragraph around at least five sentences. If you're not in the mood or the muse isn't feeling it, I get it. Just try to meet the requirements most of the time. Please use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Since this is a small roleplay, everyone has to be active to keep the plot moving. Regarding this, please try to come on to roleplay - not just chat - at least three times a week, preferably more.
Use ooc liberally, I do not mind excessive chatting. Promise. As long as your ooc chat is recognizable from your ic responses, then we will not have a problem.
As for characters, do not make perfect characters. If you decide to claim one of the Septet, they should be 30+ years, no exceptions. The Sentinels, on the other hand, should be younger. They should be at least 20 years and no older than mid-thrities. Do not godmod and do not powerplay and everything will be fine.
In addition, I will be having a character cap of two main characters per a person. Any other characters will be a npc used in writing only but not controlled by any particular user. Side characters, such as family members and romantic love interests are also npcs that belong to you but are not pertinent to the story or plot progression and therefore, unimportant and not considered a main character. I may expand the character limit later on, but as for now, that is the limit.
If you are still interested in joining after reading the above, pm a roleplay sample and if you're approved go ahead and fill out a character form. Please send the form via pm as well, if the character gets the go ahead it will be added to the character page! To JoinI'm glad you've shown interest in Run This Town! Below is the form you will need to fill out in order to join. Please make sure to read all the information from the rp page and follow the rules before joining. Thank you very much!
