Ah, Nix is going to hate this but I feel like Blu would really like Kanga~
And Blood, feel free to write, yeah?
As for me, I'm going to hunt around for cold medicine before mustering up a reply. ^^'))

Summer Rose-Schnee First year student Team: AMBR Location: Emerald Forest With: Pack of Beowulves Notes: Short-ish time skip Dust, I hate beowulves.
Ever since we last left our pink-tipped heroine, it seems that she had managed to get herself into quite the slippery situation. In the short of things, her wanderings in search of the Headmaster's relics (and, okay, of a partner) had found her in a clearing. That clearing held a den, which seemed to house a pack of Beowulves. Said Grimm had not appreciated her wandering into their territory. But, I digress.
There were three of them, at least of the ones that were outside. Two of them seemed to be adults, the third perhaps an adolescent; she assumed that there may be more, younger pups tucked away inside of the den. That didn't matter; for now, three Beowulves was nothing that she couldn't handle.
She smirked, reaching back for Osiria Rose and transforming it from carrying mode to rifle mode. She cast her silver gaze upon the one she assumed was the pack's Alpha, a smirk tugging at the corner of her pale lips. "My dear friend, I think you've made quite the mistake in coming here."
The Alpha let out a low growl, baring its long, yellowed fangs. Then it lunged, claws extended toward Summer. It was clear that the creature expected that it had found its next meal; Summer wasn't going to let that happen. Easily she slipped to the side, swinging Osiria Rose to take a few shots as the Grimm lunged past her. It howled, pain and bloodlust filling its voice. Whipping around, it lunged again, this time assisted by the other two.
"Oh, no, you've got me!" Even the smirk on Summer's face was sarcastic. Jumping up, she cast a glyph as a platform, landing smoothly on top of it. She waited until the beowulves had gotten within a reasonable distance, then leaped, floating smoothly over the top of the trio's heads. As she floated through the air, she held her weapon out from her body, reaching with her thumb to trigger the button that transformed it. One blade unfolded from the front, the other telescoping out from the back at a dangerously high rate of speed as the stock did the opposite, sliding inward to allow the handle to lengthen. Landing smoothly, she disengaged the scope from the top of the gun, sliding it into her pocket. With Osiria now in full bloom, she shot forward, the trio of grim still tripping over themselves as they tried to turn around to attack. She almost laughed as she twirled the double sword like a baton, then grabbed it with the rear blade-- the one that stabbed, rather than slashed-- facing forward. She thrust the blade into the side of one Grimm, then twisted, slicing up toward the neck of the other and decapitating it with ease. Two down, one to go! She turned to the Alpha, the bodies of the female and the adolescent fading into black mist behind her.
"Having fun yet?" She taunted, ready to attack. With a furious growl, the Alpha lunged forward, breathing down her neck at a full run. This time, Summer didn't dodge; instead, she propelled herself forward with the help of yet another glyph, meeting the Grimm head on. A single slice from Osiria's slashing blade was all that it took; within a moment, she stood triumphantly atop the Alpha's back, watching as the creature faded into dust.
To her irritation, she noticed a few pink rose petals, drifting toward the ground. Annoyed, she shook them away. "Go away; I don't need embellishments. That's Mom's thing." Hopping to the ground, she folded Osiria once more, reattaching it to its strap. "Now I head onward, I suppose."

((Hiya! Ah, my chapter isn't forthcoming due to randomly being roped into babysitting- But I've been considering pushing the whole 'ties to the White Fang' thing as part of the brothers' narrative and I was wondering if it would be too late to make Ambrose a Faunus? They'd be half-Faunus, with Nix inheriting little to none of it while Ambrose hides his. What do you think? I don't mind if you'd rather they not, though~ It can simply remain a rumor in that case.))

NIX DAYSPRING | EMERALD FOREST
_______________________________
Stamina and endurance training at Signal ensured Nix's breathing remained steady even during the repeated use of his rapid-fire Semblance. Said Semblance also allowed him to maneuver through the trees with alacrity despite his speed and the effect it could have on his vision. One thing it could not account for, however, was his ability to navigate on a larger scale and know exactly where he was going as he blurred past possible landmarks. To rectify this, Nix had established a rhythm in which he paused on every fourth branch to gather himself and survey his surroundings- Ascertaining that the trees were truly growing thicker and more twisted as he barely touched them while on the move.
It was during one of these pauses that he heard the rustle and crash of someone or something rolling through the underbrush behind him. He didn't think it was loud or obtrusive enough to be a Grimm, at least not a large one, but that didn't lessen the likelihood of a threat. Nix stiffened and half-turned to face the source of the disturbance, only glimpsing a flash of earthy colors that didn't quite belong to the scenery before they were swallowed up by tall fronds for half a second. Then a soft thump at the base of his temporary perch.
"Ow." A strained female voice.
'Oh, how the turns have tabled.' He mused with faint amusement, now further understanding how the gunner he'd encountered earlier could resolve to avoid him as soon as Nix had made his presence known. Granted Nix's entrance had been a smidge more graceful. Moving carefully, he made an abrupt about-face and prepared to make his escape before she-
"Hello!" She called, a crunching of leaves and twigs alerting him to the fact that she'd risen and moved closer. "Please don't run away again!"
Nix froze completely, one hand braced against the trunk, his other a scant few inches from brushing the branch beneath him. He didn't intend for any other partners besides his brother. At least not immediately. This didn't count, right? They hadn't made eye contact, although she was attempting to make contact of a kind. Surely he could still leave and be free to cherry pick a team of his choosing.
'Ah, thwarted.'
His deliberation had once again taken a millisecond too long, as she had now rounded the tree to peer up into what she could see of his face. Nix smoothed the disgruntled expression dominating his scarred features into a friendly smile and shifted so that he was no longer locked in a ready position, allowing his hand to drop and better steady himself on his perch.
If he was being honest with himself, he hadn't immediately sprung to safety upon her effectively tumbling her way onto the center of his radar because she had been there for some time. Not at the center, per se. More like creeping along the outer edges. Though his senses weren't as sharp as his brother's, Nix could both scent and sense other Faunus without much effort, and this one felt so unfamiliar that his curiosity had likely gotten the better of him.
'Her breathing was rougher before- Was she following me? Fairly close if she's already caught up.' This thought pleased him somewhat; he had yet to meet someone who could follow him so closely when he was using his Semblance. Smile now closer to something resembling sincerity, Nix tilted his head to scrutinize the figure below.
"Hello there, partner." He responded belatedly, making up for it by infusing his tone with warmth and a hint of 'oh my, didn't see you there'.
Bright amber-gold eyes met his evenly, the smile in them as evident as the one stretching her lips. She stood easily over six feet, twigs and other debris littering stringy tawny hair while dirt smudged the lower corner of her verdant tee. What really caught his eye, however, was the excited swish of her powerful tail and brown holsters that held what didn't appear to be conventional pistols.
'A kangaroo Faunus?'
Nix drummed his fingers against the bark, sharp gaze returning to her earnest expression.
'I like you already.'
"I hate to be rude, but I'm in a bit of a hurry. Do you think you could keep up?"

((After much deliberation, I've decided to make Ambrose a panther (black leopard) with his tail hidden by way of wrapping it around his waist under his clothes. I really wanted to give him a gloriously fluffy fox tail but that's too difficult to conceal. As are fox ears, as there ain't no bow large enough. And he's just really catty. You've inspired me to create yet another character and fox Faunus, however. He and his team might make a cameo...Yes I did create a whole other team. ^^' Two fourths of one, anyway.
Hope I'm not controlling your character! And Blu & Ro's posts might not be finished any time soon because I might be getting a fever...))

AMBROSE DAYSPRING | EMERALD FOREST
_____________________________________
Ambrose had, in fact, been napping. But in his defense, it was a power nap. No more than three minutes. This didn't exactly matter in the grand scheme of things, unfortunately, as those stolen minutes still resulted in his nearly being inducted into another team and falling into the jaws of a prowling Grimm. Tiny inconsequential details that his brother needn't hear about. Ever.
'Black cats don't seem to have much luck on their own, why go cause trouble for anyone else?' He mused dryly, conscious of the cramping in his tail from when it had begun to loosen during his nap. So far he had managed to avoid major trouble and was fairly certain he was heading in the right direction. He'd never been particularly skilled at navigating on his own, but the mental image of Ran's sunny smile of disapproval spurred him on so that he could at least say he tried.
Ambrose was rarely inclined to do anything for anyone merely because they wanted him to- But curse Ran for guilt-tripping him into this!
Malevolent Verve reacted to his ire with a lash of one of the trailing ends, imitating the whip-like flick of a peeved feline in place of his real tail, wrapped securely around his waist and therefore out of immediate sight. He'd been high-strung ever since stepping foot on the airships to Beacon, petrified to what he knew to be an unreasonable degree that his secret would be discovered before he was even made an official student. But here in the open- okay not quite- Forest surrounded by wild life and...wild life, Ambrose finally felt somewhat at ease without the pressures he associated with other people. Not that he was out there to sightsee, Ran had put enough pressure on him to make up for the previous lack, but even that was strangely comforting.
Ambrose fought the smile that threatened to curve his lips as he touched down on a rocky outcropping that overlooked a gently sloping ravine, breathing somewhat irregular. He ended up winning against an expression of outward cheer when he glimpsed what waited for him below. Dropping into what vaguely resembled a kneeling position, Ambrose waved Verve into dormancy and allowed his shoulders to slump with fatigue as he watched a small pack of Beowulves prowl along the bottom of the ravine. They appeared to be scenting the air but had yet to discover him.
'I need another nap.'

((Argh. Finally done. This was originally way longer because I included his altercation with the Grimm but I thought it best to cut it... I feel I should explain: Ran is Nix's childhood nickname. And Ro knows that he's being a bit irrational because there are plenty of Faunus in Beacon who don't feel the need to hide the fact.
It would be interesting because I, and by extension Ambrose, aren't quite clear on who Masako is as a character. With Summer he'd quietly despair because she's one of the last people he wants on his team. His initial assessment of Blu is 'irksome idiot whose existence itself raises many questions', but he likely won't quite know what to do with Masako. Might feel relieved if he deems her strong enough to carry both their weight.))

I'd be fine with anyone as Summer's partner, really. Like I said before Summer and Masako could be good because pink and purple/ they're really similar and also really different, but then again the dynamic between her and Ambrose with the two of them likely wanting nothing to do with each other would also be hilarious to play out. I also have a feeling that she'd be alright with having Blu for a partner. Not exactly happy, but also not mad about it either lol))

BLU OLTREMARE | EMERALD FOREST
____________________________________________________________________
Blu skidded into a tree with a soft grunt, canting his head ever so slightly to the right just in time to avoid it being split in half by the closest to strike in a barrage of knife-like feathers. The others thudded into the earth before him or the closely grown trees at his back. His opponent was still young. Not as much experience. Not as much size.
'Breathe. Breathe. I'm breathing...Right?'
The Nevermore arched its wings and swept higher still, preparing for a dive after the latest of its attacks had failed. Blu stilled the tremor in his hands by sheer force of will, yanking the razor-sharp feather from the bark and holding it carefully as he edged forward a few steps with his signature smile. Albeit a crooked, more solid version.
It had been years since he'd faced down an actual Grimm. And he...Well it wasn't like he hadn't expected it! Because he had. He was training to be a Hunter after all so it was obviously expected in some point in his career. Obviously. Of course. And yet.
He forced out a breath through gritted teeth, not quite capable of humming himself into something resembling calm at the moment. Blu still had the presence of mind to watch the Grimm closely, however, nonchalantly shading his eyes with a gloved hand as he watched it climb higher still. Even as he repeatedly reminded himself that it wasn't a cloudless night and he wasn't covered in someone else's blood and this was a carefully monitored test- He was still fighting for his life though. Not quite a help, but neither was the knowledge a hindrance.
"I understand that you want to get this right, but I kinda have places to be. So if you would just speed this up a bit I'd really appreciate it!" He spread his arms to make himself a bigger target and forced himself to remain still as the Nevermore seemingly did as he asked and tilted into a dive.
'Ah, the angle's bad.'
Once again, Blu lifted Davy and fired at the rapidly approaching Grimm, but the Ice Dust rounds appeared to do almost nothing to it mid-flight. Especially at such speeds. He probably should've known that...
Forced into evasive maneuvers yet again, Blu executed a backwards somersault into the thicket he'd carefully placed at his back, rolling to the side and under the cover of brambles when the Nevermore's attack sheared more trees into mere stumps and greatly reduced his cover.
"Well then!" He was slow in rising due to the warning twinge in his ribs, but bounced back into his usual loose stance as soon as he'd fully straightened. "Can we try that again?" He looped a finger in the air, holstering Davy as he tracked the circling Grimm with his eyes. "Take it from the top!"
Another razor-feather blitz was aimed his way, but this one Blu was able to ward off with the timely intervention of his more specialized gun. It was a pity he hadn't been able to nail the bird with Jones- he had yet to work out how to focus it. First on his to-do list. After the test. And possibly classes...
A shadow passed over him.
"Thanks!" Blu lifted a hand in a wave when the Nevermore fell back on its preferred tactic, preparing for another aerial assault. Oceanic gaze never leaving its hulking onyx form, he jogged backward a few steps. Edged a bit to the right. Scooted an inch forward, and waited.
'Here we go- I give it...Six seconds!'
The Nevermore shot toward him again, leading in with its beak. Blu widened his stance and shifted his grip on the weaponized feather, the loamy earth beneath his boots beginning to frost over. He waited until it was almost upon him before fully activating the Ice Dust in his boots and holding the feather up as a makeshift shield of sorts. 'One' The Grimm's beak collided with it with enough force to send him flying, and he would have if he hadn't shifted it to glance off the side. 'Two' He followed suit by sliding neatly out of the way with the aid of the thin layer of ice underneath him. 'Three' Still holding the feather outward, Blu drew Leviathan and stabbed it into the nearest wing before the Grimm had fully passed him, activating the cutlass's Ice Dust to further immobilize it. 'Four' The Nevermore cried out in pain when its momentum nearly ripped its wing from its body, curving awkwardly in an attempt to reach the blond who had further adjusted his position to avoid just that. 'Five' He dropped the feather and extended his hand to force Leviathan deeper into the earth, using that action to support the next. 'Six' He swung his body upward whilst balancing his weight on the sword, twisting to bring his Dust-reinforced heel down on the Nevermore's now lowered head.
It slammed into the earth in an explosion of ice, Blu removing Jones and firing off three 'shots' into its skull before he touched the ground. 'Seven' Blu stumbled upon landing his flip and almost tripped over its disintegrating body, breathing both painful and uneven. Shards of ice rained down around him, falling into his disheveled hair and streaking the fresh blood on his cheeks.
"Sixish, then. Close enough~" Though it had been a glancing blow, his defending arm and shoulder still smarted, blood pooling in the loose fist that had held the feather.
"Next time I'll make it a five second kill." Wan brightness giving way to his usual cheer, Blu returned Leviathan to its scabbard and paced the Grimm-made clearing to retrieve his hat from its perch where it had miraculously avoided sharing the fate of many of the surrounding trees. This done, he paused briefly to reacquaint himself with now-destroyed landmarks before relocating his previous path. A passing team had been kind enough to confirm that he had indeed been heading in the right direction, though it troubled him that he had yet to find a partner-
He was forced to a halt when the trees gave way abruptly to a rocky ravine, and forced to duck when an explosion sent rocks and other debris flying in his direction. Blu straightened cautiously, but snapped to full attention at the sight that- reluctantly- greeted him once the dust had cleared.
The redhead he'd met earlier- kind of- stood with one obsidian sword embedded in the stones cobbled underneath him, his gloved hand loosely gripping the pommel as the fiery glow gradually faded from his weapon and the chains coiled around and over him like docile serpents. In the shade of the trees they had given him an eerie glow, but now he looked more like a deer caught in the headlights. Rosy eyes wide and shoulders tense, he slowly lifted his empty hand and held it before him as if to ward Blu off. Or shoo him away. It was obvious from his body language that he hadn't meant to meet the blond's eager gaze and dearly wished it hadn't happened. But it was also evident from his previous action- in the midst of turning to face Blu despite the possible presence of enemies- that he had somehow sensed him and couldn't help checking to ensure he hadn't accidentally injured someone.
"Oh, it's you again! This is great!" Blu bounced forward, already forgetting the injuries he'd sustained and whatever malevolent being his new friend had seen fit to blow up. "I'm Blu Oltremare, pleased to officially meet you~" He winked, just to be extra and because he knew the exact reaction he would receive. "Partner."
"No." The redhead sighed, though his shoulders slumped in defeat. Something about his tone implied that he was responding in the negative to everything Blu said.
"I'm inclined to disagree." He returned politely, still grinning as he peered over the edge of the scorched outcropping upon which they stood and eyed the Beowulves clawing their way up with considerably less trepidation than he'd experienced earlier.
"Dibs on the alpha~"
