Okay everyone, here we are!
Skylar Sparks First Year student Team: MSSK Location: Clifftop at Emerald Forest With: Everyone
Skylar stood atop the cliffside in the Emerald Forest, trying to quell the anxiety that had rapidly begun to boil up inside of her. All around her, situated on their launch platforms, were the other first year students; some of them looked almost as nervous as she was, while others looked calm-- Skylar envied those people. Still others looked downright terrified. Personally, Skylar was glad to not be among that group, which looked ready to all wet themselves. She snickered a bit at that thought.
Casually, she glanced around, her blue-green eyes currently hidden behind a pair of sunglasses. Her ears swiveled, taking in the sounds around her, as she moved her gaze across the students all waiting on the cliffside. Her gaze first fell upon the six-foot-plus man standing beside her. She could tell that he was a faunus, even before she saw the black bear ears sticking out of the top of his head; being a faunus herself, she was just able to sense it, as he would be able to innately sense her faunus status- it was an ability that they all had. She nodded a greeting, trying not to look too amused; the big boy, she decided, may have a bit of a problem when it came to landing softly.
"Good luck, hey?" She offered him with a bit of a grin, brushing back her hair. I hope he doesn't land on top of anyone. That might be bad. She thought to herself with amusement. She turned back to the woods, watching as the first of the students was launched, then the second. She stretched lazily, a confident smile drifting across her face.
"I'll see you on the ground," she told the bear, snapping off a salute just a moment before her panel launched her into the air. With a light laugh, she did a midair somersault, the wind pulling her ears back against her head. She made no attempt to slow or alter her descent , simply letting the wind carry her like a feather through the sky. It wasn't until it became clear that she was going to be pulverized against a branch if she didn't do something that she reacted, drawing her sword out of the scabbard at her hip and using the flat edge of its blade as a shield, slowing her fall against the smaller, more easily snapped branches before landing lightly on one of the larger branches that was able to support her weight. She sheathed Excalibur once she was sure that there was no more falling involved, easily maintaining her balance on the smooth branch. She leaped easily to a lower branch, than another, until she was able to reach the ground. Pulling off her sunglasses-- they only impeded her vision down here-- she slipped them into an inner pocket of her leather jacket, then ran her fingers through her hair, combing it back from her face.
Well then. Let's find our new teammates, shall we?

Yes please! Before I hop in though... should we like, decide who's going to meet up? They go in groups of two first, then team up into four, and since we already have pre-decided teams and names... or should I just write and see where it takes me? I'm fine with either way.

I was thinking we were going to see where it goes, but if you'd like we can decide partners outside of roleplay!))

Let's get this party started
Synistre: First Year student
Boredom. That was the main emotion felt by synistre at this time. He was above the emerald forest waiting to be catipulted into the depths of the green canopy. Looking around he say others. Most seemed terrified. He was used to passing tests. In atlas that is all they did. Train and train until you had a test. He liked it here. In atlas he had to fight mindless machines, here he can fight real monsters. The person next to him was horrified. The boy looked at syn for some sort of company. Syn looked back. His near emotionless eyed partridges the young boy. He stumbled back right as he was catipulted into the forest. Syn laughed he knew that the boy won't be able to get out of these wood without a scar. Looking around he wanted to see the strongest people there, aside from him of course. It was obvious to see the most skilled people, they had the best weapons and a positive attitude. He wanted to choose his partener well. He wanted a nice one that is capable of combat and saving syn's skin when he goes a litttle to deep. The person that stood out the most was a large bear that made him look tiny. Syn realized that he was the smallest person there. "Well" he said to himself " looks like I will have to prove myself"
Syn wasn't scared he knew he would succed his power was immense compared to other children of his age. He sighs as he remembered the time he destroyed 100 atlas robots and injured 10 people. He was kicked out of atlas because of that. He would of been arrested but his dad pulled a lot of strings and brought out the money so he was only expelled.
A few seconds later he was airborn. Using his whips he used them as vines to swing accross the forest. He wanted to go very deep so he can try and find a skilled partner. After a minute of swinging he decided to land. He took one good sniff of the air and smelled his favorite thing PREY. Looking up he was facing a few small Grimm. " thank the lord I was starting to get bored" he said as he killed them.
// that's all I can write for now can't wait \\

Kestrel Nerida | Emerald Forest
Kestrel was more nervous than anything standing on that cliff. Breathe, breathe, she constantly reminded herself. This is nothing. Wolf told you about this. They’re just going to launch you into the forest. Then you find a team, and everything will be fine. It was the strange faces that scared her most of all. She was so used to her small town life, where everyone knew each other and everyone had each other’s back. Now she didn’t know anyone here, and she definitely wouldn’t trust any of them with her life.
Breathe, breathe. The words rung through Kestrel’s head again, helping to soothe her nerves at least a little. This is the only way you’ll know what happened to Wolf. Get in the school. Then you can leave whenever you want. You just have to get in. She took a deep breath, gripping her staff more firmly. She only had her light quiver on today, which meant a limited amount of arrows. Which, in turn, meant that the staff should be her first reaction to any offensive attack.
Breathe. Kestrel wasn’t sure how ready she was to fight. Hopefully enough. She had no idea what kind of enemies awaited her in the deep recesses of the woods. Grimm, of course- but what if they decided to stock something else? Would she be ready to fight anything they could throw at her? You’ve been on your own for 2 years now, she reassured herself. You’ll be fine.
It was at that moment Kestrel’s platform decided to launch her into the air. It caught her off guard at first, and she lost her balance, flailing wildly through the air for a few seconds before righting herself. Okay okay calm down, she thought, gripping her staff tightly so it didn’t fly out of her grasp. With one smooth motion, she extended it into its bow form, grabbing one end of it with a hand. When she neared a tree, she looped the bow around a branch and grabbed on to the other end with her second hand, riding down until she hit the forest floor.
Quickly, Kestrel checked her quiver. All the arrows were still there, luckily. Subconsciously, she let her vision slip into her semblance, checking for any signs of life around. Nothing. Nothing close, at least. Lowering her guard for a second, she switched her bow back into its staff form, readjusting her quiver over her shoulder as she started walking. Let’s get going, then.

Masako Murasaki | Emerald Forest
Masako took a deep breath and got into a ready stance, with her weapon slung across her back. Any nervousness she might have had before was replaced with calm and a narrow focus on her next move. This was how she tackled most every situation- One step at a time. First, survive the fall. Then worry about finding a team and fighting monsters. She hadn’t spoken to anybody thus far, at least not any more than a few “hellos” and polite small talk. This was kind of a problem given that she had the advantage in choosing a teammate. Her semblance meant that she had the choice of partner- she would see potential partners long before they would see her. So really it was up to her who to pick, but she had no idea.
Okay, focus. Masako shook her head, recognizing that she was already thinking too far ahead. Just get down to the bottom and work from there. Springs started going off to her right, pads launching students high into the air. She tensed up her stance and sprang forward as soon as she felt the pad move beneath her, altering her trajectory slightly so that she wouldn’t go as high as the others but have a more forward and straighter path through the air. She didn’t have any advantages whatsoever when it came to this exercise. Her semblance was useless for mobility, and her weapon had little to no recoil so she couldn’t use that to slow down. The one thing she could rely on in this case was her naginata, which she brought into her hand by simply letting the air carry it off of her back and into her right hand. It wasn’t a particularly helpful climbing tool, but it was long and straight and had a curved blade- maybe it could be a brace or hook? The trees were fast approaching and she decided to just trust her instincts. Who needs plans anyway?
She swung Sunēkobaito in front of her to slice a few branches out of the way as she hit the canopy of trees, using the momentum to spin so her feet faced the ground rather than her head. A few more strikes to clear the path and then she spotted a thick tree trunk right in her path. She spun the naginata in her hands so that the curved section of the blade impacted the tree. The blade naturally followed the curve of the trunk, turning her descent into a spiral downwards path and slowing her significantly. From there she simply let go of the trunk with her weapon and did a somersault to break the remainder of her fall. Her aura flared just a little bit, but in all a successful endeavour. “That could have gone better,” Masako remarked to herself as she stood up and brushed herself off. But it could’ve also gone a lot worse... I guess it’s time to find those relics they talked about. For now her goal was just to find the relics and if she came across others in that path then she would deal with it as she saw fit. So for now she simply changed her weapon into rifle mode and faded from view. If she kept calm then her invisibility would protect her from Grimm- and also from being partnered with someone she didn’t want to be. Masako looked down at her hands to make sure she was invisible before jogging off in the direction opposite the cliffs.

BLU OLTREMARE / EMERALD FOREST
____________________________________________
Blu could barely contain his excitement, humming a lilting, erratic tune as he bounced eagerly on the metallic toes of his boots. Their faint clink clinks on the false stone square beneath him somehow managed to maintain the whimsical rhythm, though it seemed to irritate the teen standing next to him even more than his half-whispered rendition of the school anthem, if the disapproving wrinkle of his nose and sixth noisy sigh were any indication.
Mindful of his platform neighbors, Blu attempted to halt his anxious movements and quell the song rising in his chest- For all of two minutes. The skittish dancing in place returned just as the brief explanation of their trial concluded and the first student hopeful was launched above the trees.
"Aah, I can't wait!" He breathed, fingers drumming on Leviathan's hilt. Blu was never given the opportunity for many friends his own age growing up- let alone friends he could keep for more than a week. Already confident in his skills, what he looked forward to most during Initiation was the forming of teams. After all, you couldn't have a cohesive team if duty was the only thing tying you together. Or so he believed. Staunchly.
He couldn't wait to meet the people who would become his friends for the remainder of his years at Beacon.
"Hey-" Blu began, taking a half step off his platform as he turned the entirety of his body to face the peeved redhead. He received a slight widening of rose eyes in response before his platform abruptly launched him into the forest.
The previous shift of his body weight had unbalanced him as the platform had been preparing to spring forward, and Blu's scramble to backtrack coincided with the unyielding stone-like slab slamming into his side and propelling him into the sky.
His breath left him in a pained whoosh, the scenery spinning and melding together as he went a good distance parallel to the ground. It was difficult to tell if he was upside down or right side up, stunned as he was, but he thought he glimpsed a flash of purple in his peripheral vision and struggled to reorient himself as the mass of verdance steadily became more solid and frankly, rather threatening.
'Upside down, then.'
Blu noted with a wince, flipping so that his back no longer faced the ground and slipping Jones from its holster with his right hand- his left still numb from the impact. He aimed the gun at the trees below, squinting through wildly waving russet-tipped locks for a clearing of some sort. In a densely packed forest.
'Oh, right! Trees'll have to do then. Aim. Focus. Fire.'
Drawing in a pained breath nearly stolen by the wind, Blu drew out a soft note and squeezed the trigger. The flintlock echoed him, the body of the gun humming faintly before replaying the sound at a higher frequency into the air below. The shot blasted through a tree in immediate danger of skewering him, reducing its uppermost half to shrapnel that sliced through the left side of his cheek and stung exposed skin.
Fortunately, his efforts to slow his descent succeeded, as he was buoyed in the air long enough to control his inevitable return to plummeting with a somersault that ended in a twist, allowing him to safely alight on the branch of a neighboring tree. It creaked dangerously under his sudden weight, and Blu hopped to the ground before it could give. This landing was notably less graceful, as he tripped over the torn limbs of his previous target and nearly stumbled into a stream.
Gravity hated being bested twice, and so he inevitably ended up on his knees in cool burbling water, laughing at his own misfortune.
"We've barely begun and I already have battle scars." He mused aloud, breathing gingerly as he pushed back his hat to pluck a splinter from his bangs. "Sorry tree, your sacrifice will be-"
The crack of gunshots suddenly rang throughout the trees, followed by a blur of colors somewhere beyond the brambles to his right.
Blu scrambled into an upright position, his waterlogged captain's coat dangling from one arm and still being dragged by the determined current behind him.
"Oh, people! Or a person. But still!" He cheered, swinging his coat onto his shoulders and starting forward at a sprint.

Summer Rose-Schnee
First year student Team: AMBR Location: Clifftop at Emerald Forest With: Everyone Tags:
Remember your landing strategy. Legs spread. Arms out. Tuck your chest in-- no, not that far! Good. Don't forget to breathe, don't hold your breath. You can do this, Summer.
The words echoed in Summer's head as she stood upon her launch platform at the ready. Her attention wasn't on the Headmaster as he spoke, but rather on her own thoughts. Ironically, the voice speaking inside her head didn't seem to be her own; rather, it belonged to Mother. Annoying, but at the same time, oddly comforting. It was soothing, knowing that she knew exactly what she needed to do. Now all there was left was to do it. Which was the hard part.
Feeling a twinge of nervousness, she reached for the pink-and-white strap that went across her chest, holding her weapon in place against her spine. Its familiar texture was rather soothing, and the white-haired teen let her eyes wander a bit, allowing her gaze to take in everyone else. To her left, a few spots down, was a giant boy in a top hat, with long hair and a beard. He was a massive mountain of a man, easily the largest person there; he had to be at least six and a half feet tall, and at the thought of how easily the guy could crush her-- she was hardly a speck compared to him-- made her nervous enough to find herself praying that he didn't happen to be the first person that she made eye contact with after her landing. Shaking her head a bit, she turned the other way, letting her gaze settling upon a younger looking student, who wore an outfit that made her think of a pirate going out to sea. Dear god, was her outfit the most normal thing here? Pink tank top, a dark pair of jeans, and a white zippered hoodie, currently unzipped with the hood down. It was comfortable and easy to fight in, but it occurred to her that she probably looked ill prepared for combat in their eyes.
At that thought, she scowled, turning silver eyes to the forest ahead of her. Well, she told herself, if that was what their first impression of her was, then she would have to prove them all wrong.
A metallic clunk to her right signaled the launch of the first student. Summer took a deep breath, preparing herself to launch. There were three more students in front of her in line; then it was her turn. She leaped as the platform underneath her tossed her up and out, giving her slightly more momentum. As she flew through the air, she scanned the forest around her, looking for a safe place to land, free from branches that could cause her significant injuries and bushes that might trip her. Finally spotting a clearing in the treetops, she cast out a glyph which she landed upon, momentarily crouching atop it in midair before leaping lightly to a tree branch. From that spot, she leaped down, casting one more glyph just above the ground, stopping herself just short of disaster before stepping lightly onto the forest floor. With a slight smirk, she smoothed down her clothing, then flipped her pink-tipped bangs back from her silver eyes.
"Well, that was easy."

(haha yeah. Honestly I think Masako would be okay with just about anyone if only because she's pretty independent and would probably end up ignoring/ditching whoever she's with anyway. If there's one thing miss purple needs to learn it's teamwork and trusting people other than herself)

I was really just referring to the fact that they're so similar tbh. They both prefer their sniper rifles, but both also turn into blades, they're both short little ----, short hair, etc. Plus they're pink and purple cx
but mostly because Masako's cheerful facade contrasts so nicely with Summer's "leave me alone, don't talk to me, don't come near me" sort of attitude tbh))

AMBROSE DAYSPRING / EMERALD FOREST
___________________________________
Wood creaked and splintered as one of Malevolent Verve's hooks sank into the sturdy limb of one of the taller trees, the chain attached to it growing taut when Ambrose used it as an anchor to halt his forward movement. He circled the thick tree once before alighting on a lower branch in an easy crouch, the gloved fingers of his left hand spread to steady him. Wine strands stirred with a relieved sigh even as he watched another prospect student arrive with more aplomb than grace, their own tree listing to the side with a groan of protest.
Everyone knew how this went by now, how was it possible that even one hadn't bothered to prepare?
The hook wrenched itself from the wood with a soft crack, its chain slinking back into a loose coil around his right arm whilst it raised its upper half and waited patiently at his side. Lips quirking in a wry smile, Ambrose obliged it with a fist bump. Satisfied, Malevolent Verve fell limp and returned to dormancy.
Someone passed below him and he stifled a yawn so as not to draw attention to himself, half tempted to rest his eyes for a bit and see how things turned out- But as long as he was in the Emerald Forest, he would be monitored and graded. A bit too early to get comfortable.
He had best focus on retrieving a relic; the notion of forming a team in such a disjointed fashion irked him. There was no way to guarantee which formations would work best without prior testing, not to mention possible clashing personalities and ambitions.
Ambrose's best bet would likely be to somehow acquire a team comprised solely of individuals who were independently powerful. He'd glimpsed the Rose-Schnee girl on Beacon Cliff and briefly considered her, but the attention she would bring to whichever team she held position in wasn't exactly conducive to what he was trying to achieve. Namely White Noise status- He'd hate to feel as if he were dragging her down.
'Beacon Academy has been standing for years, they couldn't bother to change one tradition? Even a little?'
Ambrose ran an irate hand through disheveled cherry hair, rising with a soft huff as he tilted his head back to scan the sky. He could no longer see or hear other prospective students being launched, guessing that they were all now swarming the Emerald Forest in search of the keys to their success.
Wonderful.
'Ugh.'
He extended an arm and woke Verve with a prod from his aura. It obligingly began to slither out into the open air until it was suspended in its entirety, stretching from his tree to another. As he crossed, Ambrose idly wondered if fighting between students was permissible- he wasn't exactly all there during the explanation- because he didn't plan on encountering any Grim. Too much hassle. But surely retrieving a relic would count largely toward his success? He'd landed too close to Beacon Cliff, it would take him a significant amount of time to reach wherever the relics had been hidden 'deep in the Forest', or whatever had been said.
Meanwhile he need only keep to himself until he'd succeeded at the most important of his tasks. Worrying about who was on whose team could come later.
