replying a month later '^^ )
It was very rhythmic, sword fighting. She'd forgotten how hypnotic it was when it was done right. Most days she was up against other pirates, or lower guards from local garrisons, and whilst you could occasionally find a diamond in the rough, it was mainly a sloppy affair. Heath was a master, that much was clear from the get-go, and she was beginning to realise she was a little rusty up against someone who really knew what they were doing. She didn't doubt that she had the skills to out-slash him (or cheat, if it was necessary), but they were very heavily buried these days, and she was having a hard time digging them up. He was using his weight against her again, like a real jerk. How dare he use everything he has to his advantage. It was hardly very sportsman-like. He was meant to roll over and let her cut his hands off, the inconsiderate moron. Not get a thin slice across her lower torso with that last strike. She was mid gasp, a tiny one from the pain, when something above his head caught her eye in the clouds above. Smoke? Gods, was it the volcano? She really didn't know, but it might be what she needed right now, "Um, Heath, buddy," Whetu nipped backwards to gain more space, "As much as I'm enjoying myself," Pressing her free arm to her stomach to staunch the bleeding, "I think we might have bigger fish to fry in a few minutes." She nodded to the thick smoke that was pouring into the sky now, black and dense.
A strike, another block. Back and forth. They were pretty evenly matched, though Chrysanta liked to think she had the general moral high ground. His silence was a little unnerving, usually pirates and rogues liked witty banter, or lewd taunts, even the quieter ones tended to say something during a brawl. It could range from a rehearsed catchphrase to an entire life story, but she'd never met a villain who just shut up and kept fighting. It had to be the nature of the battle, his life was on the life at the moment. Criminals with a reputation like Aster usually didn't make it to the jails or the judges; there was always a guard on duty with a grudge, or could be bribed to look the other way while the family of those left behind avenged their deceased. The wind changed and she caught a strong whiff of something. Ash? It was unusual, but she tried not to be thrown off as she cut forward in a wide, low arc.
Rubbing his glasses onto his shirt, Coran nodded as the house went up into flames, eyes stinging a little from the soot and grit that was being caught up in the breeze. It certainly was a magnificent blaze. He registered Camilla's words with a wince, "There goes the perfect record. We're officially criminals." He stuck out his hand to her to shake, as if they were signing off on a business deal, and not basking in the flames of amateur arson. It was such a roaring fire that it was starting to draw the locals form their homes, horror mingled with fury as they began to work out a rough idea of what had happened, "Hey, um, maybe we should, split." Firing up a house was one thing - fighting off an angry mob was another.

It's nice to get onto the forums these days and relax a bit .-.' this country is so messed up politically,,, it's embarrassing Well Coran and Camilla are probs gonna head back to the ship now and get ready to get the heck out of dodge, and Whetu, Xavier and Kain (+ the new Kerro) are going to have to make a speedy escape once the guards are distracted by the house the Terrible Twos lit up. If you'd like to maybe be on the ship for when Camilla and Coran get back? Or if you like rping fight scenes, we could make a little canon fodder guard character for you to fight with? )

Hi sappho !! Love the new picture treasure planet is amazing)
Heath was focused intensely, but it was the kind of focus that left him blind to his surroundings. Sometimes when a person wants something badly so they focus all their will into it, they forget what's going on around them. This was exactly the case with Captain Iratus, while his sword skill was legendary, he allowed himself to be distracted by Whetu, she was the only opponent who had any power over him which was infuriating. He chose to ignore her at first and continued to block her advances and strikes, he didn't need his other arm injured. Finally he could smell it, the air was thickening as the wind carried the black smoke towards the jungle from the house on the edge of the forest. "What the he|| is that..?" He demanded. Of course Heath didn't know it was an empty house two new criminals had burned so a list of worst case scenarios ran through his head momentarily. The worst being a volcano destroying the island, the next biggest problem would be a riot or large fire in town that catches the dry grass and trees of the island and burns the whole place down. Capturing Whetu and company would be nothing if Kydos was destroyed. He let out a string of curses, it wasn't like the Captain to allow his rage to become so unchecked, but Whetu brought out the worst in him. He knew their attention was needed elsewhere, but the pirates weren't weak enough to take down yet and he didn't think he had the physical capability to let Whetu go willingly, even if it was to address potential bigger problems. He held his sword at the ready still, but momentarily stopped advancing as he tried to figure the situation out.
Kain rarely was distracted by anything, but the smell of smoke could always draw his attention away. His own cigarettes were bearable, but the overwhelming scent of the thick black smoke that he looked up to see rising in the sky grasped at his memories of bodies burned from the plague, specifically his own mother and sister. It made him nauseous and distracted enough to get a swift slice to the lower abdomen. The sharp pain brought him back and he scowled at her, but he couldn't comment on the cheap shot, he had allowed himself to be distracted. He was lucky the cut wasn't very deep and he wasn't going to bleed out. He was more irritated with himself for such a stupid mistake. Kain put pressure to the cut with one hand just in case although he was sure he had plenty of time before bleeding became an issues. He slashed at elbow where the metal of her armor wouldn't protect and she would have to rely on whatever she had there to cover her joints. "I wasn't aware the Royal Guard allows islands to burn down, that is the direction of town you know. I'm sure at least a couple important politicians are here for the hunt."
Camilla gave his hand a firm shake and grinned a little. "We are real criminals now I suppose." She echoed his comment thoughtfully them glanced around at the group that seemed to be forming and put her arm around him. "Yeah let's get back to the ship. I hope the others are alright." She frowned and shouldered her medical bag. She had a feeling she would be needing it, the royal guard were aggressive and rarely failed their missions which had her worried. They had done what the could to help, now they would have to wait. She looked to Coran and smiled, "I'm actually very satisfied with our work, I didn't know arson could be so fun!" She admitted playfully and looked over her shoulder at the dark cloud forming in the distance and the glow of the burning house.

Thanks!! I was watching it last night and remembered how great it was )
She was glad to see that he too was not pleased about the fire, of course, and was trying to hide how much it was freaking her out herself. This was all feeling very familiar - Heath, a large battle, a larger fire looming. She didn't believe in fate (it was the absence of luck) but right now she had a cold shiver sliding down her spine and she didn't like it. It was time to split. "Where'd you hear language like that, Heath?" Whetu's voice was all jest, trying desperately to cover up the growing panic as the smoke got thicker, "Your mother would be so ashamed." He wasn't advancing anymore, but he sure as hell wasn't backing up, "I wouldn't be offended if you go and check that out, you know. I understand my role in this society is not as important one of the oldest towns in this world." There was a time to be subtle and then there was a time to spell it out for him - Iratus couldn't handle a fire and the Blackguard and though he was the top dog at the Garrison, he still had to answer to someone, and she was pretty sure that the king and queen would be less interested in a petty group of pirates than the lives of at least a hundred of their citizens. Mirroring his stance, her free arm holding her sword out in front of her to ward him off, Whetu began to very slowly edge backwards, eyes fixed on the Captain of the Guard, "I'm fine with leaving this here and picking it up some other time, if that suits you, Heath."
Chrysanta did her best not to gloat over drawing blood in a critical area, and it was hard, until her got her straight back and she had a scowl that matched his own. Her back was to the rising smoke, and she sure as anything wasn't about to turn around. Aster was too sneaky. She would've been inclined to not believe him, if it wasn't for the acid stench in the air, and the way others around her trained their faces to the sky. She ignored Kain, sending him one last dirty look before drawing out of his reach and raising her voice to be heard by her captain, "Captain!" He was bleeding from several areas, but his own sword was flecked with dark spots of blood too, the tip dripping onto the pale sandy ground below. It was definitely night now, and the faint glow behind her told her that the fire was huge, enough to light up the night sky, "What are your orders?" She would love to stay and fight of course, but she knew her place, and it was her job to handle the jobs her Captain was too busy take care of. If that meant throwing down her sword and picking up a bucket of water, then so be it.
"I know what you mean. I think." He said, hurriedly walking away from the blaze, giving one last, almost rueful look back. He knew it was empty, and that it had had to be done, but there was something sad about it to him. It was once someone's home, and it had been full of memories and dust. Now, it would be ash by morning. This 'being a pirate' business was getting grimmer by the second. He was really glad that they'd left Conall on board. Night had settled in, and the sky was inky and cold, funny how a desert could become so chilly. Squeezing Camilla's arm and scuffing up sand that had turned lilac in the moonlight, the jog back wasn't so bad, now that the offensive heat was gone, "What are the odds we get back and everyone is already on the ship, and not hurt?" He murmured, peering inot the ocean horizon to try and spot the furled sails.

(It's such a great movie I haven't seen it in a while)
Heath ignored her jabs about his language, he was tired of her taunts and the one about his sister still haunted him although he would never admit it. He knew what the correct choice was and what he needed to do as his duty to the king and queen. His loyalty to them and sense of responsibility logically overpowered his intense desire for revenge, something he would have to set to the side for now and return to at the next opportunity. He didn't think he could actively let them go, even as Whetu began to back up he wanted to reach forward, grab her by the throat and drain the life from her than she would never be able to taunt him and cause trouble again. He exhaled with a whooshing sound, it was dramatic and angry then he glanced at Chrysanta "we go find the source of that blasted smoke. The king wouldn't want Kydos to burn to the ground." She said lowly then pointed his sword at Whetu again. "You come with me now and your punishment will be cut in half. I won't see you hung and you won't see yourself or your crew tortured. This is the only time I'm offering this and the next time I see you your punishment will double and I will find what you hold dear and take those peices from your playing board, you will suffer with more than just pain and it'll be by my hand. This is your safest option pirate, because we will catch you." He offered, his voice all silver and his tone made it clear this was a promise he wouldn't be breaking.
Kain kept his hand on the wound, blood slipped between his fingers, but he ignored it. This fight was ending and with a glance at Whetu he could tell she was worse off than him, she would need medical attention once they returned to the ship. He rarely retreated from a fight, but in this case the fire couldn't be a better distraction and he began to back away towards the woods with his sword still raised for protection. Chrysanta was a better fighter than he had calculated for, but next time he would be more prepared and she would have to have a lot more up her sleeve if she warned to take him down. He was glad she was such a loyal pup, desperate for her Captain's approval, he could use that against her. If it weren't for Whetu he would already be gone in the woods the second she turned her attention from him, but he needed to make sure Whetu was alright, Heath was an incredible opponent and he could see plenty of fresh blood her her clothes, but also her sword. Heath could fight and probably knew every technique that could be taught, but Whetu also had a gift with the sword. He waited for his captain to take off before he would follow, but he hoped it would be quick before Iratus changed his mind about priorities.
Camilla stuck close to Coran, the air nipped at her bare arms and she wished she had brought a coat. She had a big fur one which sounded lovely each time the wind blew. She took in the island as they left, it was an ugly place with ugly people and disgustingly hot, but at night with the quiet and the reflection of the moon it was almost beautiful to her. She sighed a bit, her own optimistic mind hoped for the same outcome Coran was asking about. She shook her head. "Not good, I doubt they'll be there before us and I'm sure Xavier at least ran into a branch or something. But I'm sure they'll be fine, I'll get my supplies ready just incase and maybe we could cook up a warm meal." She said cheerfully, she didn't want him to worry any more than he already was and her own thoughts were clouded with doubt and fear for the worst.

that song in it,,, im still here,,,,, it touches me deep,,, what a bomb movie)
She backed further and further up, out of the corner of her eye, she could faintly see the dark outline of Kain doing the same. Smart man. She was vaguely touched he'd stuck around at all, actually. Her arm was getting wet from where she was pressing her wound, and between the quick mental maths of how much more blood she could stand to lose, she made a short note to tease the living daylights out of Kain about how much he cared later. "That," She said with the tone of someone who couldn't quite believe their luck and wasn't about to waste it, "Is a lovely offer but we both know I'd be dead before a week passed." She flashed a lupine grin, a dark glint flaring up in her eyes. From this angle, Iratus was back-lit by the fire, and he looked furious, but very calm. She hated that. At least when he beat Whetu before, he'd been just as emotional as she was, they were both screaming, both a little too crazy eyed for comfort. This predatory calmness tottered between annoying the frick or scaring the bajeebus out of her."The next time we meet, maybe you'll even see the whole crew, they're real eager to meet you." She thought of Ralif's knife, Sonal's knuckles, "Not to be messed with." Coran's glasses and Camilla's soft arms. Well. Maybe he could meet those two some other time. When they became a little scarier. "Have fun with the fire." Further into the undergrowth and branches, just two dark eyes shining out, "I'll take my chances on the water." With her free hand, still holding the cutlass, she gave a little flick to Kain, an indication that to vanish now would be a great idea.
Chrysanta gave a curt nod, and started to retreat back up the sandy path they'd taken on the way here, walking backwards at first, sword out, eyes fixed on Kain, who was doing an alarmingly good job of blending into the shade behind him already, and then gradually shifting into a jog up the hill. She put away her weapon and broke into a full on run. There were some guards in the brush too, looking for the others that had ran off and she gave a short, sharp whistle, "All of you! Start evacuating the town!" By the time she'd cleared the forest and reached the 'town' the fire had grown. It seemed that whatever had started it initially had been close enough to other dry buildings for a strong breeze to pick up the flames and put them on another house. Fire was not as easy to fight as a pirate. There was a bitter, stinging taste in the back of her throat at the thought of being so close to capturing that filth, and to have it all slip away now. Chrysanta let out a low, shallow sigh, edged with anger and frustration. The journey back to the mainland was going to be torture - The Captain would be furious with everyone and everything, and they'd be empty handed before the king and queen. And that was without having to explain to them how such a money-earning town with tourists had become a hot-spot for arson and thieves. It was going to be a long week.
"A meal sounds nice," He tried a nervous joke, "But I'm all good for anything warm right now." A curved path that led into a small hidden cove took them into an open air crevice, a little nook perfect for stashing a certain dark wood ship with sails that looked pitch colour in the night. A familiar dog shaped mound was snoozing out on deck, blissfully unaware of the carnage that rampaged a few miles from the harbor. That dog could sleep through a hurricane. But other then Conall, the ship was vacant, a fact the navigator tried not to let throw him off. Coran was glad to be back, to feel the wood sway gently under his feet. He needed a wash to get the now cold sweat off of him from earlier, and something to eat, but they had to make sure the ship was ready to go when Whetu and the other returned, so he started to untie the knots that tethered them to land. "Ship's in one piece, that's good. Hate to think we might come back and it's been found out. Or sunk." Conall raised his big head and gave his tail a few heavy thumps against the boards at their return, but neglected to walk over and greet them.

(Now I think I want to watch it! I don't really have time tho lol)
Iratus had know she wouldn't take his offer, the funny thing was he had meant it. To see her surrender would be satisfying in itself and worth not getting the chance to punish her fully, but now she had given him the excuse to dish out a much harsher punishment. As bad as it sounded he wanted her broken into pieces, their bad blood ran too deeply and now she gave him the ability to a harsher sentencing. He would come up with something sadistic, he never wanted to hear her crack another joke at his expense again, she had destroyed everything he had worked for and made it twice as difficult to rise from the ashes, literally. There was a time his name was a joke because of her and a time when his name was all he had, but he returned a new man feared by all and ready to destroy anyone against the king. He watched her disappear and let out an angry curse before he spun on his heals and began barking orders to his soldiers around him to find the source of the fire and stop it.
Once Whetu headed off Kain was gone, with a blink he was there and then there were only shadows. He didn't offer his help or an arm to lean on for Whetu, if she needed it she could ask. He was focused on returning to the ship they has been lucky to escape and fortunate for the fire distraction. He kept one hand under his coat to slow the bleeding and the other on his weapon still just incase. He glanced at Whetu, a slight smirk on his lips which was fairly rare since that expression was a little to close to playful. "You didn't want to take his amazing offer?" He asked as they ran through the woods. He knew the ship couldn't be too far, which was good since he was fairly tired after the day they'd had and franky he wanted to leave the disgusting island.
(Shoot gotta go I'll reply for Camilla later)

i love the lack of unnecessary romance in it, and how it focuses on James and Silver instead,, i love parental characters who aren't acc parents imma just reply to Kain because i don't think we really need to know how they put out the fire, but if u want to do it i'll pick it up again)
"Amazingly," She quipped, glad that the weight of Iratus' stare was falling off her back like a heavy coat, "I rather try my luck elsewhere. I really don't feel like getting the whip again." Whetu's voice was strained under the light tone, and she didn't even try to hide it anymore. She was beginning to bleed out - having to run fast was disturbing the wound, but she wasn't about to slow down - and the reality of what had just happened, and how close she'd come, was starting to settle in. She was scared. And tired. And she wanted to go to bed. She couldn't lose it here in the forest, and she really didn't want to lose it in front of her new first mate, so she fell into an uncharacteristic silence for a while. Kain seemed to care now, but she'd been in the business of cutthroats long enough to know that weakness was not something to flaunt, particularly not in a captain. Let him assume it was the wound, or, seeing that he was clever, let him know that she was shaken a deeper then that and not say anything. Silence among thieves could be handy at times. "Up here," She gestured to a curvy path that lead off and up a hill, "I got Coran to hide Her in an old haunt; handy thing, a hidden cove."

(Same I'm such a fan of relationships that aren't just romance and people caring for each other and good bonds! I also love the secrets and betrayal but that in the end he cared for James more than the gold That's okay haha it would probably just involve angry cursing of Whetu's name to the sky since Heath despises being tricked)
Camilla was happy to be back on the familiar ship, but less happy when she noticed they were the first ones back. No Whetu with her electric eyes set on adventure, or a scowling Kain and playful Xavier. She would have noticed if Sonal was there, she towered over them all and despite her grumpy attitude Camilla liked her company. She might have even been happy to see Ralif as annoying and rude as he was. She felt anxiety creeping up on her, how long would they be there before the others returned if they ever did? She took a deep breathe and composed her nerves, at least Conall was there. "Yes the ships in one piece, that's a good sign I suppose." She agreed then smiled brightly and sat down on the floor next to the dog for a moment, giving him plenty of belly scratches until she felt a little less nervous. After a few minutes she went below deck to change into trousers and a long sleeve shirt. She could be more mobile in this and it was much warmer. She was tempted to wear one of her nice coats, but there would likely be blood involved when the others returned and she didn't want to ruin anything nice, plus she needed to be able to move in what she was wearing. Carefully, she undid her braid and twisted her hair into a bun so it would be out of the way. Then she began to set up her supplies and an area to treat he crew, just incase.
Kain was rather good at picking up on body language and the general discomfort of others, it was clear to him how Whetu felt about the Captain of the Guard, but it was also clear she did not want to discuss the matter which was fine by him. Everyone had their secrets and demons to hide, it didn't benefit him in any way to exploit hers. He hated the guard too, and they royal family. He didn't know much about her past other then rumors and the obvious fire incident, but she had made a quick name for herself and with that came enemies who wanted to see her suffer. He glanced ahead at the path up the hill, it wasn't too steep, but it wouldn't feel good with either of their wounds. A side look to Whetu confirmed she was bleeding pretty good despite her efforts to contain it, the hill to the ship would only make things worse. He said nothing put pulled her arm over his shoulder, his other hand around her waist to stop the bleeding in her side. The rocks were loose here and that was a good enough reason to offer her his help since he doubted she would ask, he wouldn't in her position. "They better be back." He muttered, irritation in his tone. He was sure Xavier and the useless selkie weren't too far behind, it was just Ralif and Sonal he was unsure of. He knew Whetu wouldn't leave them behind either which was frustrating since the guard would probably be looking for them again soon and they needed a lead.

that speech he gives when Jim feels like trash 'i hope im there to catch the light coming off your sails' makes me cry like baby every single time GIVE THE BOY A FATHER FIGURE just three hours of Iratus shaking his fist at the sky )
Coran finished untying all the knots but one, knowing that if Whetu and the others did manage to make it back alive, he'd probably be killed himself for sailing away without them. He had his ancient tweed jacket still tied around his waist form earlier, and pulled it over his bony shoulders, putting his hand through the hole where the elbow should be on the right sleeve once before getting it all the way on. It was crazy to think that this time yesterday they'd only been a sailing crew for a few hours, bounded by little more than a communal greed. Now he was pacing up and down the deck waiting for them to all come back. He had his little journal out and bounced a well bitten pencil against it a few times before putting it away again. He'd write down the day's events when everyone was back. The navigator's attention was grasped when Conall sat up quickly, head pointed in the direction of the path, all the fur on one side of his face squashed from where he'd been lying on it. "Camilla!" He hissed, "Someone's coming." A sudden fear was tickling through him; was the ship really well hid enough? It could easily be Xavier or Ralif, but it could also be the Captain of the Guard, finally figuring out that those tourists from earlier seem a little shifty. Coran still didn't have a weapon. He should probably get one, because right now his hands felt pretty bare, so he just crouched down behind a wooden crate.
Whetu let out a startled 'oof' as Kain helped her none-too gently. Should she thank him? She wasn't accustomed to sincerity, and she knew he wouldn't be offended with silence, so instead, the Captain let herself be helped (though refused to slow down). Cursing gravity and feeling more and more light headed, Whetu smiled a little nonetheless at the approaching crest of the hill and the faint silhouette of sails, "I can't imagine they would've taken a longer route for the views." With half her life on the sand behind them, she still managed a wry smile, "That fire was pretty convenient. Wanna bet who set it?" She glanced behind her, the path was deserted, but she winced at the sight of her blood. Even if they'd be long gone by the time Iratus followed her trail, this little cove would be out of commission forever once he knew it existed. Such a shame. "Though arson is my thing," The captain had the nerve to be indignant, and got a little loud, almost whining. The loss of blood and emotional stress of the day had left her dizzy and giddy, two things she vaguely knew that Kain would not like, but didn't care, "Like I'm grateful, but they better not start stealing my thing."

(I KNOWWW ugh my heart Most definitely he's pissed haha)
Camilla grabbed her knife that she usually kept strapped to her hip or thigh and climbed the stairs quickly to where Coran was standing. Granted, she had never used the knife on anyone other than to threaten or cut bandages but she still felt better having it in her hand than having nothing. She pulled Coran down to hide behind some supplies just incase it wasn't one of the crew members. She glanced at him nervously than back at the approaching noise of footsteps until the figured became clear in form, Whetu and Kain. She exhaled a sigh of relief and jumped up. "Oh thank the gods." She said softly then nudged Coran before taking off to greet them, "They're both hurt, come on!" Whetu was obviously bleeding and her gait was off which meant she likely had a few different wounds. She quickly slipped the Captain's other arm over her shoulder and smiled a little. "I am so happy to see you both!" She said brightly and began to look both of them over to judge the severity of their wounds.
"It was." Kain agreed shortly, he was managing his own pain which meant he was even less inclined to talk than usual. He glanced ahead at the ship, he didn't see anyone on it currently other than the dog. "My money would be on Ralif." He replied without taking much time to think about it other than it seemed like something the man might be inclined to do in danger, he seemed to have tricks up his sleeve more often than not. He rolled his eyes heavily at her complaining and gave a snort in response. "I don't think you'll have to worry about that. Just set a bigger fire next place we go." He said, the words suggested a possible joke, but his tone of delivery was too flat to tell. He looked up to see Camilla approach and begin to help them onto the ship, at least the doctor was back, they were going to need her.

im nearly done my art exam ;u; which means i'll have loads of free time soon ~ and i want to draw some simple sketches of these characters with the seven deadly sins?? because im cliche but i can't decided who gets what tbh some of them are conflicting i'd put down Iratus for wrath and maybe Whetu for lust? Or greed (or xavier for greed)? Chrysanta or ralif could fit into pride, but so could kain? I thought about our mermaid chick being lust because that's her whole reason for saving xavier haha he has nice eyes. do you have nay thoughts?)
Coran poked his head up after Camilla jumped to greet their crew. He could hear Whetu moaning about something from hear, so she couldn't be too badly hurt, though Kain was supporting some of her weight, which was worrying. No Xavier, or Sonal and Ralif. He swallowed the little lump of dread and nipped over, in case he could be of use, but also eager to share their half of the day. Judging by the blood and the tiredness behind their eyes, Kain and Whetu had definitely ran into the royal guards, but had they had such a close call and the doctor and himself? "You guys look pretty rough." He observed as Kain offloaded Whetu's weight onto Camilla, not sure of what else to say. Kain had a few wounds himself, but Coran wasn't sure if offering him any bandages, or even just something to lean on, would get him anything from a dry look to a knife in the shin. Conall, roused by all the noise now, padded over, and gave the newcomers a thorough sniff, curious about all the blood. Coran shooed him away, not wanting to get dog hairs in open wounds, "Are you hurt badly?"
"Thass a good idea." She nodded, seemingly sagely, if it weren't for the loll of her head and the slur in her words, "I'll do that. A churrch or somein. Somein big." Her legs nearly betrayed her once on the boat, but they were so accustomed to the rocking on the wood on the waves that even in her bleary stupor she stood up straight. The doctor rushed out to greet them, hair up in a little bun, "Camillllaa." Whetu was genuinely glad to see her, and Coran a few seconds later, OK. Out of all of the crew, she'd been most worried about the fate of these two. They were noncombatants, nice folk, who really needed to find better friends. They didn't seem hurt, just dirty from sweat and soot, and tired. Coran had a bit of sunburn across the bridge of his nose. The captain winced a little as Camilla searched for wounds, not roughly, but expertly enough to get near to the slice across her stomach, "Careful, please, careful." The pain was sobering and Whetu gritted her teeth, "Are any of the ossers here? Ssonal or Ralif?"

{{ Suppose Fermanagh being one of the most rural county's, pretty much! I'm from Lisnaskea, which is the second biggest town, but honestly anyone from anywhere here would count as coming from the country being it is legitimately 99.9% farm land and lakes. and ooo how much I feel you, it's awful. If only everyone would quit dwelling in the past and see what's actually good for this country. And oh lordy, don't even get me started on Brexit. Especially since it's going to potentially tear this country apart when it's already bad enough.
But anywho- enough ranting c'; I was thinking, since they're both back on the ship, I could have her casually waltz out, as in like she'd been waiting? I'm thinking of having her wanting to get acquainted with them to benefit her business, as well generally wanting to stay as she's been found out and is now wanted by the guard and thus it'd offer more cover? It'd give a reason for her to join Or perhaps she could have been running from said guard, see the ship, scoot onboard to hide and get trapped since, well, its crew kinda came back while she was still onboard. though whatever would be most likely and suits, I'm cool with! whatcha think? Also sorry for not replying for a good while, we had a Gaelic match yesterday and another one tomorrow actually, so I may not be on much- just a heads up~ also, I'm glad you came out alright! }}

Lust- Whetu Gluttony- Camilla (she loves sweets ok) Greed- Whetu? Kain or Ralif could work Pride- Kain or Ralif Wrath- Heath Sloth- Conall lol Envy- Xavier (desperate for a feeling of kinship and inclusion potentially jealous of others)
That all I've got, I'm not sure I kinda lean more towards Kain with pride than greed since I think that would motivate him more
Also I think woofles' girl could maybe be hiding than get stuck when they leave since she was still on board? I like that option the best personally!

"I will be, I promise." Camilla soothed, her voice was soft and all honey as she removed her hands for the time being and simply helped the Captain down the stairs. It was clear that Whetu's level of consciousness was fading as her blood drained and once she was down the stairs she made the woman sit and then lie down on the cot she had prepared with clean sheets. "No, they're not back yet, but I imagine they will be any minute now." She encouraged in her usual positive manor. Her father had always said negativity wasn't useful to anyone. She then poured alcohol over her hands to sterilize them and pulled a bottle of green goop from her bag. "This is going to make those wounds hurt a lot less, it's a numbing gel made from algae." She explained and took a little disposable wooden applicator to carefully smear the gel around the wounds she saw, tearing the holes in the clothing around them wider as she went. Once that was completed she let the gel sit as she struck a match and began to serialized a needle. Her woulda were numerous, but none were too deep and the cuts were clean which would make sticking easier. "This will sting a little but the gel should dull it, the wounds need to be clean before I can close them if you want to prevent infection." She informed and with a clean cloth she soaked some alcohol and then began to apply it to each slice. "Was it the royal guard who did this?" She asked with a slight frown.
"Whetu is worse off." Kain replied and leaned against the side of the ship. It was true, there was only one of Camilla and their captain had lost a lot of blood, his wounds were less severe and he could wait longer for medical attention. His cut hurt though and he was still annoyed for allowing himself to be distracted enough to receive it. The captain's paladin had been good, they were possibly evenly matched which his height advantage being even to her wearing armor. He hated their armor, it made fights all the more difficult and guns had to be aimed in just the right spot to have the desired injury. He wanted to sit down truthfully, but if he did it would be difficult to get back to his feet and he refused to show that kind of week ness instead he kept his hand pressed firmly to his bleeding abdomen and ignored both Coran and his dog. His mouth was set in a line which was usual for him and his skin was paler than normal, but not by too much. He glanced at the shore, no sign of Xavier or Ralif and Sonal. He hoped they would show up soon so they could leave this island and the royal guard behind them, the didn't need the trouble and a head start was important since the captain would be twice as furious with them.

I love Fermanagh ^^ It's really lovely. We used go out there during Easter when I was younger, and I can remember a lot of lakes lol and wind turbines. I love Irish countryside so much im such a city slicker by birth I get so sick of looking at city hall,,, and yeah. No work is being done in Stormount right now, and we're only going to get closer and close to Brexit?????? sure do wish we had actual politicians instead of barely competent children who only look at the past (((((: that would be nice. we should go back to ancient Irish politics tbh. a wise old druid who lives in a cave comes out once every fortnight to give us a prophecy and then we go about our business. it'd be more effective
did you win ur match??? i dont play Gaelic but it is intense to watch omg
and the hiding option sounds great to me !! it'd be a nice way to introduce her c:' and it'll give Kain some room to stretch as first mate, because right now Whetu isn't in the best shape to be meeting new characters lol she needs Rest™ )

i can't believe you'd be so cold as to stick conall in sloth he's a Good Boy™ just very selective about what he bothers to get up to do. having said that i don't know who else it could be. Ralif's got that sort of relaxed, arrogant air about him, it's not exactly sloth, but there is something indulgent about his character. he only ever does what he wants. god i love characters like that. for envy maybe coran?? because he wishes he could be a little more useful? i can't believe camilla is gluttony how rude she's a babe)

Whetu let herself up helped, though each step down was jarring against her open wound. Her shirt was ruined, though maybe due to the sweat and dust clinging to it, it would've gone in the trash anyway. She'd been to ship doctor's before, mainly cantankerous old men with too few teeth - sailors who'd earned their respect though blunt saws and cigarettes instead of anesthetic. Part of her getting sneaky was because she was so loathe to return to the medical bay and have those wrinkled men touch her. Some of them looked at her too long, looked at all women too long, and she'd found herself jobless more then once for making them stop the hard way. Camilla was like a breath of cold air on this gods forsaken island - gentle and soothing, and very very soft. Her hands were strong of course, and her eyes were sharp, but her skin was so nice to brush against. Out on the sea, people got rough fast. Silk skin faded, so why not enjoy it while it lasted? Whetu blinked, realizing she'd been lowered onto a cot during her daydream. She decided it'd be rude to not listen to what the doctor was syaing if she was going to think about how nice her skin was, so she forced words out, "I can handle ittt." Her face felt stiff when she grinned, but she did it anyway, trying not to wince as the slop went on. She was right though, it numbed fast. At Camilla's next question, Whetu barked out a rueful laugh, "Everyone'sss favourite. Heath Iratusss. Professssional jerrk." It felt like an age ago now, staring up at the wooden flood boards above, but he was still on this island, they didn't have much time. They had to sail, soon.
"'Hope she's OK." Coran nibbled his lip, pulling off a bigger bit of skin then he first intended and wincing at the blood that welled up. He stared, helpless, at the door that led to the stairs, that led to the medical bay, "We're lucky to have Camilla. She was really great today." He nodded, bobbing his head slightly to the side, like a little bird. Kain was being very quiet, but that wasn't strange. Asking him what was wrong seemed like a dangerous move, so instead, Coran stood there for a bit, bouncing up ad down on his heels, waiting for someone else to come aboard. But standing still was making him nervous, more nervous than the prospect of angering Kain right now, "Do you want to sit down? Or maybe some water...?" He asked, gesturing to where he was pressing his arm against his body, "You're standing kind of strange." He explained, as if Kain wouldn't be able to work out why Coran was asking. "I'm no doctor, but I know how to bandage a wound, I could go get some gauze. If you'd like." He added quickly. It was hard to see how much akin was bleeding, his clothes were so dark, and he didn't dare light any of the lanterns yet. No idea who was out there.

She isn't very greedy or lazy or angry hmm i know what you mean about Ralif he's great I feel like sloth could fit but only in the "I do what I want" sort of way

(Excited to see your character woofles!!
also what is Gaelic? The only sport I care about is Hockey lol)
Yay Happy you're back! We need to send Ralif, Sonal, Xavier, and the selkie bby back to the ship! Camilla is treating Whetu currently and Kain is above deck with Coran)
"Oh, I know you can." Camilla smiled sweetly and began to stitch the wound that needed the most immediate attention, the others she packed gauze into in order to slow the bleeding while she addressed the injuries one at a time. She admired the captain's resilience and knew she was tough, Camilla didn't think she could handle all that pain she liked to help others but she hadn't experienced wounds to this extent herself. She liked to think she would be brave in the face of danger and death, but she knew she didn't have the same fire as Whetu as much as she wished she did. Her fingers made quick work of the cut, she had been taught to sew as a young girl and was skilled at it before her father began to coach her in medical practices. Now she was an expert at sewing flesh, so much so she knew the way to avoid leaving large scars, but often her clients would want scars as evidence of their fights so she would have to make her work sloppier to please them. She laid a patch of gauze over the wound he wrapped cloth around it in order to keep the bandage secure as to catch any leakage. "I didn't expect the Captain to be so terrifying. I've heard stories of course, but he was much more intimidating than I could have predicted." She admitted. "Definitely a jerk." She snorted in agreement then began to sew the next wound, she worked carefully but at s good pace until they were each stitched. "You're lucky the cuts weren't to deep or wide, sometimes even stitches won't close a wound." She observed and began to wipe the blood off on her towel. "I want you to drink a lot of water, at least a canteen full right now, you need to rest and replace all that blood you lost."
Gotta go I'll reply for Kain in a bit!)

"She'll be fine. Camilla will bandage her and stop the bleeding then she'll need some rest since she lost a lot of blood. As soon as the others are back we are leaving this godforsaken place and heading elsewhere which will also improve her condition." Kain replied calmly, his gaze on the hill which they had come from in hopes more of the crew would show up. He wanted to leave now, but with over half the crew missing it wasn't wise they would just shove to hope the guard didn't know where they were and wouldn't figure it out quick enough. Kain didn't like assuming things or underestimating people it was a dangerous habit to get into and one that got people in trouble, unfortunately he didn't have much of a choice currently since Whetu wouldn't want to leave the rest of the crew so he needed to make the assumption that Heath wasn't quick enough to find where they were hiding. He shot Coran a glare when he spoke again. "No Coran, I don't want water or to sit down." He replied in a way that was still calm and collected, but somehow had a hint of venom to the tone. He lifted his hand momentarily to show the gash in his lower abdomen "I'm standing like this because I got cut." He said as if Coran was ridiculous for his comments and Kain had had enough. He gave a heavy eyeroll when the Navigator mentioned bandages and then sighed "yes, fine, go get me a bandage." He knew it would be smart to stop the bleeding since he was already somewhat lightheaded and incredibly irritable.

Herschel could be sloth, because they're so self interested and apathetic ?? they really only get mad at Ralif lol Gaelic football is like a cross between soccer and rugby - you basically use every appendage u have to get the ball through, or over, the net. it gets really rough sometimes .-." and im not a huge sports player myself so it's pretty scary, even from the stands. In some parts of Ireland, it's a huge cultural thing, for people who consider themselves Irish instead of British. Not saying British people can't play Gaelic, but normally, they don't. It's a super old sport that I don't fully understand tbh )
"He not intimidating." She scowled, unwilling to hand out what could be construed as even the vaguest compliment, "Jusst big." Whetu shifted on the cot slightly, trying to sit up a bit straighter. As nice as it was to have a pretty lady fuss over her, she was the Captain of the ship, and the initial shock was passing, and Whetu was left clawing at the dregs of her dignity. Gingerly, she pressed a hand to the edge of her worst wound, decided against disturbing it, and worked across her body instead, poking at her arms and legs where they'd been nicked. They felt tender and raw, but mostly, durable. She'd be up and about like nothing had ever happened in a day or two, though hopefully the one on her stomach would scar. That'd be cool. The damage done to her nerves and her emotional state was another matter, and though she was found of Camilla, Whetu wasn't comfortable enough with anyone, even herself, to talk about it openly. Better to just brew on it. "Yessss m'am. I sshall hydrate at once." Bowing her head a fraction to the doctor, she swiped the cup of water on the table beside the cot and took a long drink. It wasn't very cold, and she split some of it down her face and onto her ruined shirt, but it felt really good. Everyone was going to be dying for a drink after the heat of today, "Want ssome?"
Coran pretty much scampered off, dismissed like a student from the presence of the Headmaster. A tiny indignant part of him moaned that he was only being polite, and that he had no reason to feel embarrassed, but a larger, easily startled part of him was just eager to leave Kain's icy eye line. After fishing the bandages out and recrossing the deck, he was aware that Conall was following him. It happened, the dog appearing like a big hairy shadow, and plodding dutifully after, so much so that Coran barely noticed it most of the time. But right now, he was was thankful. It'd been a very long day. He got back to Kain and began to unwind the roll of gauze, snipping off a good length with a tiny pair of scissors. The less he said right now, the better, Kain was still armed and he didn't want to give the man any more reason then usual to lash out. So instead, he just nudged Kain's hands gently to indicate that he should move them so he could look at that wound. Compared to the dark of the other man's clothes, the red blood shone off his pale skin almost radiantly, but the navigator still squinted behind his glasses, to get a good look in the moonlight. Trying to stay light so not to aggravate the cut, he began to twist the bandages around Kain's abdomen, fingers occasionally brushing skin. It wasn't going to be the neatest job in the world, but Kain was a practical man - he'd hopefully see the pragmatics over the aesthetics.
might not get on tomorrow because I'm going to the ~ theater ~ First time I've been out in months !! I'm vv excited)
