ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧ (Here, but pardon the length. I'm busy rn) Lily nodded at Cian, saying goodbye before leaving him to head to her own room. The bison was left to entertain himself with the books and tv there until the doe went to go get him for dinner. It was a nice setup, as Viktor didn't yet intend to treat him badly. Cian gave him no reason to do anything negative to him. And the bison was left alone for about an hour before she returned. "Cian?" Lily's voice sounded after a knock on the closed door "Vitor told me to come get you. Time to eat." She waited patiently for him to come out, so they could head to the dining hall where Viktor would be waiting with a few other guests. "Oh, and try not to talk too much," she added "Viktor has his grandmother, sister and nephews over. Only talk to them if they talk to you. And, don't mention anything about night howlers. They don't know, and who knows what Viktor will do to you if you tell them."

[No problem!]
"Alright," Cian replied as he came through the door, closing it silently behind him as he did "I'll make sure not to upset Viktor, don't worry. I know his family well enough by now."
He and Viktor had been friends for so long that Viktor's family had almost been like a second family for him. Of course, he didn't feel like he was up for some quality family time with Viktor and his family, but he evidently didn't have much choice in the matter. Besides, Viktor might be a little bit more amicable with his family present. That might make a change.
He still didn't know exactly what Viktor wanted with this whole thing. Did he just want to keep Cian here until he felt he could trust him again? Was it more complicated than that? He had absolutely no idea, but he wasn't entirely sure that he wanted to find out, to be honest. Viktor could be malicious even before he had started to take night-howlers, but only when someone made him really angry. Who knows what he might do while he was actually on the drug. Cian was honestly surprised that he was even still alive.

ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧Lily took Cian to the dining hall. There at the large table were three bears. Two small ones dressed like members of a rock band, and the third a little more fancy. Well, a lot more. She looked ready for a fancy meet or something, and held herself high. They all looked over to see Cian. The smaller bears waved openly to him, but their mother only spared him a glance (she didn't like prey animals, but she hated night howler drugs even more.) Everyone looked though, when two more bears came in. Viktor, dressed the same, leading his grandmother into the room. She was even more intimidating than his mother had been when she was alive. Wearing a mix of darker greens for her dress and shawl, with thin gold rims and patterns, and gold jewelry. The grace she held herself tall and walked in with, considering her size, added to the intimidation even more. Nose in the air a little, she allowed her grandson to sit her at a seat beside him. Lily whispered to Cian to sit, just as Viktor's grandmother, Ursula, spoke with a thick accent as well "Cian? I haven't seen you in forever. I was beginning to think you and my grandson had broken ties. Where have you been?"

Cian sat at the moment of Lily's cue, having offered the two smaller bears small waves in return. He had forgotten Viktor's nephews. Still too young to realise the huge rift between predator and prey.
In response to the grandmother's question, Cian's brain worked overtime "It's lovely to see you again, Ursula," he replied with a smile, hoping it was hiding his nerves "Yes, I've had to be back with my family a lot more recently. My father's health hasn't been so good lately"
It was a smooth lie, but only because it was a half-truth. Everything he had said was true, but it obviously wasn't the reason why he and Viktor hadn't been so close lately. He could only hope he was covering up to Viktor's satisfaction. God knew what would happen to him if Viktor didn't think he'd lied well enough. Thankfully, he seemed to be doing alright so far.
Viktor should be thanking the bison for covering up for him like this, but he doubted he would. He probably didn't see it as a favour that Cian wasn't exposing the bear to his entire family. Cian was angry at his old friend, for sure, but he wasn't cruel enough to do that to him. Hopefully the bear realised that, though perhaps he didn't. He'd made it abundantly clear, after all, that he didn't trust Cian.

ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧"Really?" Ursula questioned "I'm sorry to hear that. I do hope all goes well in the end. Viktor, why haven't you been there to comfort Cian, hm? Your father has always told you to stick to your friends." Viktor snorted, but jumped at the look his grandmother gave him in response. "I have been busy, grandmother," the male said with a sigh "I do not have lots of time for friends." "Well you certainly seem cozy with that lion and wolf," she said with a raised brow "I can only imagine what you do when I'm not around." Viktor sighed again, looking as Lily spoke up "The food will be out soon," she said "Ricky's catering to Cian, so it's taking a little longer." She'd come out with drinks and some appetizers though, setting down soda for the kids, tea for Ursula, and a "special" drink for Viktor. And, she set out a drink for Cian, murmuring "Viktor told me this was your favourite drink." And she also set out the appetizers before heading back out of the room again. All the while, as everything went about, Viktor would cast an occasional glance toward the bison, but didn't yet give him actual attention. At least the bear seemed okay though, more or less, as he wasn't calling Cian out or giving him dark looks.

His favourite drink? This confused Cian in about ten different ways. Was this meant to be making up for everything? More importantly, did this mean that, in some small way, Viktor still cared about Cian? Even after having grown apart of much, he'd still remembered what Cian's drink was.
The bison had so far just listened to the conversation unless directly addressed. If he wasn't asked a question, he wasn't covering for the bear. Viktor could cover himself unless absolutely necessary. Besides, Lily had warned him not to speak unless spoken to.
So Cian just listened politely while eating with the others, interjecting only when addressed. At least that way, he could guarantee that nothing could go wrong. As much as he hated to admit it, Viktor scared him a little.
Viktor's occasional glances were also a source of confusion for Cian. Did that mean the bear wanted him to do something? What was it all about? Cian just felt like he couldn't understand his old friend anymore. The bison had once been so close with Viktor that they could communicate wordlessly. Now, he was struggling to understand Viktor at all. It felt like every little aspect of the bear's personality had changed. And Cian had no idea how to deal with it.

ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧The actual meal was eventually brought out. As said, Ricky had catered to Cian (who probably didn't eat the same as the bears did), a jaguar coming out to serve everyone a dish exclusive to their taste. "Cian," Ursula addressed the bison after taking a sip of tea "You come to my next show, yes? Viktor can take you." Like her daughter, Ursula was a singer. An old one, but still had a great set of pipes. Viktor shook his head, opening his mouth to say something, but Ursula held up a paw, saying "No, it's not for you to answer. Going will be very good for you both. I am hosting a gala after as well." She ignored her grandson and looked at Cian for his opinion. She'd always been the nicer one in the family when it came to prey animals. Didn't favor one over the other.

"Well," Cian replied "Of course, it would be an honour to attend. But I really do think, since you are suggesting Viktor take me, he should have the final say. It really isn't fair for me to speak for the both of us"
He was passing the ball back over to Viktor, who had clearly had some sort of objection. At least Cian could hear what sort of problem Viktor might have with taking Cian to the show. It highly depended on Viktor planned to have been rid of Cian by the time of the show. Cian still didn't know exactly what VIktor's plans were for him, and for all Cian knew, Viktor might very well have killed him or something before he had the chance to go to this show. He hoped Viktor's response might illuminate something for him as to what was in store.
The bison's gaze had turned to Viktor as he awaited a response. He was hoping that he hadn't angered the bear or done something he wasn't supposed to, because he had at least given the bear control of the situation. WHich was the best he could do.

ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧Viktor huffed softly, but said after "I have no problem with taking him, grandmother. It's just those at the gala I'm worried about. Some are not as inviting as you." Ursula waved her paw dismissively, saying "Anyone who has a problem with my guests can speak to me. It is a given that I don't tolerate discrimination, so Cian will be able to enjoy himself. And if something does happen, you're to sort it out." Viktor grumbled sightly, but didn't comment. "Do you have suit to wear?" Viktor questioned Cian "Or does Lily need to make you one? She is good tailor, and can have something made by the time of the show in a few days." As welcoming as Ursula was, she still had very high standards, especially for events she was holding herself. And Cian wasn't going to be the exception, and make Viktor look bad. The bear mentally grumbled again, hoping the event would go by quickly.

"I think I will probably need a new one, actually," Cian admitted "If that's okay, of course"
I mean, he might have a suit at home. But he doubted he'd be allowed to get it, so he wasn't sure if this question was just for show or not. Ursula and the rest of the bear's family didn't know a thing about Cian's position. And Cian didn't know how long he would be kept here. So he might as well get a new suit after it. Honestly, he wasn't sure what the bear wanted him to say, but the bison just hoped that he'd said the right thing anyway. He was a little nervous that he was doing something wrong, but he tried not to show it. Not only because he didn't want to give Viktor away, but also because he didn't want to give the bear the satisfaction of knowing that Cian was nervous of him, or that he had any power over the bison at all. Cian hated the idea that Viktor had control of him, that Viktor could kill him - or have him killed- at any time if he wanted to. It was finally sinking in to the bison that he was going to be sharing a house with a predator taking nighthowler. His life was in danger every time Viktor got his latest fix. But if Lily and the others had survived this long, Cian guessed he could do it too. If he was careful.

ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧ "It's fine," Viktor said simply "Lily will take measures of you after this." Might as well get it done quick so there wouldn't be hassle closer toward the event. The bear would make arrangements with Lily to have him fitted when she came back in with their food so she could start planning. Another short while passed before the food was brought out to them, Lily and a black bear, Ricky, walked out with the plates balanced along their arms. As they set everything out before each animal, Viktor did pull Lily over to tell her to see Cian later about getting him fitted for a suit. She nodded and smiled at Cian, saying for the bison to simply go to her room after dinner, and she'd make the measurements there. After, the bears and Cian were left to eat, Ricky and Lily turned to exit the room after making sure anyone didn't need anything.
