Once they had both exited the makeshift hideout, Loki threw the orb of fire at the hideout. It was engulfed in the flames after only a minute. The heat was extreme enough to make him break a sweat. He dusted his hands, and once the fire had mostly destroyed it, he sent out another ray of energy that instead made an invisible shield around the mess and hid it from the naked eye so that others wouldn't use it to track them. [Where do you want them to go? Man I always get stuck at parts like this.] _____________________________________________________________
"Who was that?" Madeline didn't see the red mark on his cheek, nor did she care to look since she hadn't seen what happened. She peeked behind him to look at the door with wide eyes. It was shut. "What do they want?" After realizing he'd beckoned her, Madeline stood up and walked towards him, she was a good foot shorter than him, the top of her head only reaching the height of his shoulder.

font face="georgia"]The Asset just watched as the place burned nearly to the ground. Somehow, no one seemed take notice, as it did so, but he knew it was the doing of this god. "We have to find somewhere else to stay," he said, gruffly, holding onto his backup with both hands. He knew that it was not safe to go back to his handlers right now, as much as he needed a wipe. He would lead S.H.I.E.L.D. or this supposed god right to them, and they would be in trouble. He would be punished. He physically shuddered, trying to hide it to turn and walk. [[ they should definitely run into some of the avengers eventually. ]]
---
"Someone who works here," he replied flatly, opening the door with one hand and standing aside to allow her to go first, like he always did, arms crossed tightly over his chest and shaggy hair hanging down into his face as he looked at the bright fluorescent lights in the hall, and the flies buzzing around them, pinging off of the exposed bulbs only to go back again. "Well we can't just run off into the sunset to one of your people's fancy hotels." he snorted. He was getting irritated, again. This man was so vague, he wouldn't say who he was or what was his mission. He might as well have been one of the homeless guys you would find on the street with a metal arm as an added bonus. He got in front of him before he could walk away and grabbed the neck of his shirt, pushing his back against the wall and leaning in close. "Listen up, pal." he hissed. "I don't know what kind of game you're playing at, but I'm going to need some more information on what the hell we're doing. If you want to keep wandering around, that's fine. But I'm not going to follow you like a lost puppy and help you get out of trouble without an explanation." [Ooh how about our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man? ] _______________________________________________________________________ Real helpful he is. Madeline thought to herself. She walked out into the hallway and started to head the routine way they always went, assuming it was to the training area like every day.

She walked out into the hallway and started to head the routine way they always went, assuming it was to the training area like every day. The Asset allowed himself to be pushed, going limp as Loki shoved him into the wall. He blinked slowly, gazing over the god's shoulder as he spoke, before reaching with his metal hand and aiming a punch at the taller man's gut, eyes hard. He would not be pushed around by someone who was the not the boss of hm. He had nothing to say. "Get off," he finally barked, using his other hand to shove at the god. Loki was strong, but he was only a bit less powerful, if not as powerful, minus the magic. He didn't have any of that, regrettably.
[[ sure! which one of us should take him? ]]
---
And that was where he took her, to the training room. It was empty as usual, and he commanded, "Put on your gear," as he went to go and sit on a bench, eyes hard and focused as he fiddled with his own straps and checked his guns and knives, brow furrowed as he did so, silently. He trusted her over by the racks now. She hadn't tried anything thus far.

Loki stepped backwards, bent over with his arm over his stomach. That did hurt, he would admit, but not out loud. He glared back up at the other man and let a noise like a frustrated growl emanate from his throat.
In the distance a black dot was zipping back and forth between the buildings. Back and forth, back and forth. _____________________
Madeline slipped on a smaller pair of boots over her bare feet. She took a combat vest off the hook, strapping it on securely. She didn't even think about grabbing any weapons, he hadn't allowed her with those yet.

[[ aw no, but yay! ]]
The Asset glared right back, blue eyes slits as he said, like he had repeated it many times, "I have no name, and my mission and who I work for are classified. You will not get any information from me." He jaw twitched as he ground his teeth together, looking definitely into Loki's eye, something a bit more human in there than there had previously been, something with a spark. It flickered out though, and he turned away, saying, "There are other hiding places in the city."
---
He waited patiently, and when he was done, stood, pacing over to the mat, calling, "We will be practicing those kicks I taught you for awhile. You still remember?" They were simple, but effective in close combat. He himself used most of them, and though she was incredibly small, he knew that they were useful to anyone of any sort of stature. Height did not matter when you had leverage.

[ ] "Hmpff." Loki was in no position to argue now, but sooner than later when he felt good again... Since there was daylight, the black dot was visible in the distance. It was behind his companion. He blocked the bright sun from his eyes and saw it getting closer, details becoming more apparent. It wasn't black anymore, but red, and it appeared to have the shape of a human. "Who... is that?" _________________________________________ "Yes, I remember." she confirmed. Embarrassment in the form of warmth came over her as she recalled the first time they had practiced it in her memory. It had taken place a few days after the first one when she was still recovering her strength and getting used to wearing the combat gear. She had tripped over herself and fallen onto the floor, cutting her lip in the process.

"..." At first, as the shape just seemed to be getting closer, maybe some kind of machine, but no, that was a man. He narrowed his eyes, hand moving to the gun stowed in his pocket, though he did not draw it. "I don't know," he finally replied, dark hair falling into his face as his eyes traced it across the skyline. Was it shooting something out of its hands? He didn't know if Loki could see it, his eyes being so sensitive, but there was a thin wire-like substance supporting the possibly-man as he swung along. Like some kind of spider.
---
The man glanced up, and informed as he wrapped his hands, "You're blushing." He finished, holding up his hands and commanding, not following up on his first comment, "First kick." She would aim for the palms of his hands, and they would progress to actually sparring.

It was heading straight towards the two of them. How it had spotted them from that distance, Loki had no idea.
Peter Parker was in his Spider-Man suit. It was the weekend and he had actually gotten his homework done early and now he could practice his skills. He had been swinging around and noticed two small shapes in an unusual spot. Out of the public view but easy to see if you had been gifted with spider-like powers. Curious, he had gone in that direction. He landed on the ground clumsily in front of them, doing a somersault and rising back to his feet again looking at them. One was a tall man in some very unusual clothing and the other looked like some homeless guy you'd find on the streets with his scruffy facial hair and ragged clothes and backpack. __________________________________________________________
"No I'm not!" she puffed, even more panicked that he had even noticed. It made the adrenaline in her body pulse even faster and gave more power to her kick.

The Asset glanced towards Loki before looking back towards the... thing, in front of them. Well, it wasn't a thing, it was quite clearly a man in a suit, but that didn't explain the odd rope that had been shooting from his hands, and why he was in the odd suit. The Asset knew that it was too dangerous to attack right away though, so he paused, asking flatly, "Who are you?" What was he? He assumed it was a boy, from their shoulders and their stature. A teenager, most likely, but he couldn't be sure as of yet.
---
"You are," he informed, palm absorbing her kick before he moved his hands, commanding, "second kick." He didn't know why she seemed so out of sorts about it.

Peter dropped his shoulders in disappointment. It was unfortunate he wasn't as popular as Iron Man, or Captain America-- everyone knew who they were. He was just a boy in a red suit with spider abilities. No one really knew who he was, not yet at least. He'd make Spider-Man a household name one day. He didn't know who these two people were, but he pulled off his mask and revealed his face. "Peter Parker." he said. It was probably a stupid idea to give them his name, but it slipped out anyways. _________________________________ Madeline switched legs quickly, letting her other one fly out to hit his palm. His stubbornness frustrated her, she was always wrong, he was always right. That was how it had been since she'd woken up here.

"You're a kid," the man said, just staring a bit blankly at the Peter boy as he removed the mask, head cocking to one side and shaggy hair falling into his face as he studied him. Odd. He'd never been confronted by a child before, or purposely killed a child, in the limited memory that he had. "What are you doing here?" was his next question, straightening up again, voice a bit hard now, instead of curious.
---
"Could be better," he informed, "again." He switched palms once more, eyes flickering over her shoulder at nothing at all. She was afraid that she wasn't progressing fast enough, though she was doing well...

"Well I was just-" he'd never had to explain this before. "Just traveling around and I saw you two." The guy in the odd uniform glared at him menacingly. Peter swallowed the lump that was in his throat. Were they criminals? He didn't see anything suspicious about them so far. _____________________ Madeline tried again, grunting. She didn't know how much more he could have wanted. She was doing as well as she could for the moment, straining all her energy.

"Swinging," the Asset said, a bit slowly, eyebrows furrowing as he peered over at the almost, but not quite, man, "you were swinging around." He couldn't get that out of his head. It wasn't like anything he'd ever seen. When he wasn't wiped for awhile things tended to do that, to stick and to be stuck and to not make sense, but to tickle his mind until they were washed away again. He didn't like it. "Like a spider."
---
"Better," he complimented drily, switching hands again, not commanding her this time, just seeing if she'd know what to do next. So far, he wasn't too sure. She had good instinct, but less that pleasing reflexes.

"Yeah, um, swinging." Peter nodded, manipulating his mask nervously with his fingers. He tried lifting his head bravely. "I'm Spider-Man. " ______________
She kicked without orders, but this time she decided to go full force. Madeline threw out multiple punches afterwards and added more kicks. Hopefully he would be impressed with that. Her nose was scrunched up in concentration while they trained.

"You're what?" the man asked. Of course, he had no ideas of any present day sort of things like Spider-Man. He just knew of the Avengers. As for the other superheroes, well, to him they didn't exist, so "Spider-Man" was something he'd never heard before. He assumed, or at least hoped, Loki hadn't either. He felt... was there a word for it? He wasn't sure. He didn't like the lack of information in his head.
---
He ducked, one of the punches grazing his cheek, and one kick hitting his shoulder, but he managed to grab onto her arm, lightly twisting it and jerking her down towards the mat. He was as proud as his limited emotions would let him be, but that didn't make him go easy.

Peter lifted his arms and stepped back defensively in case this guy swung out at him. "Okay, okay, so I'm not Tony Stark.." he began. "It's... a long story." He hoped they believed them. "I gave myself that name after I found out I had these powers."
___________
The breath was knocked out of her instantly as she landed on her chest, but she learned from the last time when she had fallen to keep control of her head so that it wouldn't slam down with the rest of her body. She had to keep her guard as much as possible while she scrambled back to her feet and readied herself for his next move.

[[ love it. ]]
Tony Stark. The Asset knew that name, but he said nothing as he listened to the boy speak. So, Spider-Man was his name he used to hide his identity, like Iron Man and others had in the past. And he had powers. That had to be how he swung, just like a spider. Well, at least the name made some sense. "Why are you telling us this?" It seemed stupid to him that the child would just decide to come and blow his cover to two random, shady strangers in a back alley.
---
A punch flew at her head. She had been lucky that he'd waited for her to get up, even, but he didn't want to actually injure her by trying to fight her while she was down. She was not yet ready for that.

He scratched his forehead, feeling dumb. He hadn't prepared for this. This was one of the first times he had interacted with someone with his suit on, and he had no idea what to do. Fight them? No, he still didn't see anything suspicious about them. But they were hanging out away from other people, so it was always possible... Peter sighed. I need to work on this. He thought. "Because..." his adolescent voice cracked, making him sound squeaky so he had to clear his throat. "I don't know."Nice work, Parker. ____________________________________________ The punch got part of her jaw before she could dodge all the way. She paused in her fighting stance, unsure of how she could attack next, eyes narrowed. She was breathing heavily, chest rising up and down. Madeline could taste the salty tang of blood on her lips, they were cracked again but that was the last thing on her mind.

"Okay," the Asset replied simply, jerking his head towards the sky as he continued, "you should get out of here, then. We won't say who you are." He glanced at Loki, and then back at Peter, Spider-Man, whatever he wanted to be called. He didn't fight kids. He could, but there was something in him, something foggy in the back of his head, that stopped him from doing it. He needed to be wiped.
---
He jabbed at her again, this time at her unguarded stomach, since her hands were protecting her face. She needed to learn that hiding the part of her that was already hurt wasn't the best way to go.

"But what about you two?" Peter had already turned, he slipped on his mask again and looked over his shoulder. "What about him?" Loki hadn't said a word since he'd appeared, just stared. Peter knew that if he left, he would have to report to somebody, even though the guy who spoke seemed pretty decent. ___________________________________________________________ He got her again, and it hurt. She retreated off the mat stubbornly. It was a risky move of her to try. She'd never disobeyed him until now, because of fear. And even though she was still afraid, her mind was scolding her to stop. She held her stomach with an arm. "Stop." she said. The feeling grew worse out of paranoia, what if now he got very angry because she had backed down?

"What about us?" The Asset shrugged. As muddled as his mind was, he had the instinct of a spy, and with that instinct came acting nonchalant. "We're just some guys." He glanced back at Loki, who was gawking, and then back at the Spider-Kid, saying, "he likes comics." That was the only excuse he could think of for the so-called god's attire, in all honesty.
---
He advanced after her, grabbing her arm and yanking it away from her stomach, pulling her close. He didn't hit her, no, but he did start yelling, barking in her face, "Do you think that if you are in the middle of combat, and you ask whoever you're fighting to stop, they will?"

"Uh-huh." his voice was muffled. "I'll be on my way then." Peter wasn't entirely convinced, maybe he would keep his eye on them in the future but out of the way. His heart was beating in his chest. It was time to get away and think. He still wasn't used to the whole concept of being a "superhero" yet.
As soon as the Spider-Man kid had disappeared from sight, Loki spoke out again. "You don't believe he's not going to say something?" he said. "He's a child, they don't keep their mouths shut about anything. S.H.I.E.L.D. will find us again." ____________________________________________________
Madeline fought the tears that were forming beneath her cheeks. She had put herself in this position to be yelled at, and now she just had to face it. "No..." she swallowed her pain, tearing her arm from him. She was upset, that was a fact, but also angry. At him, this place, everything. Tired of being ordered around. The anger was driving her mad. She lunged forward throwing punches and kicks in no strict uniform way. Although there was no chance of beating him, the least she could do was try to hurt him as much as she could to prove how stupid this all was.

"He'll say something," the Asset confirmed with a small nod, "but we will be away from here by then." He gave Loki a long, hard look, and then began to walk, shouldering his backpack. The spot where Loki had grabbed him hurt. He was quite strong for how thin and ill-looking he was. "You can teleport," he tacked on, after a moment. Talking out of turn was coming quite naturally to him, and disagreeing. It sent a physical shiver down his spine just thinking about that fact.
---
The man let her rip away and hit him, standing there and taking it, peering down at her as her fists and feet as they hit his torso and legs and arms. A fist grazed his cheek, and that was when he very calmly grabbed her, holding her like he was hugging her, but it was simply to keep her still. "Stop," he commanded, voice hard, staring at the wall behind her, "you cannot be weak in this place. If you are weak, they will kill you." There had been talk of it already, saying that she wasn't learning fast enough. They were watching all the time, anyways. He would be punished for this.

"Yes. I can. You want me to get us out of here again?" he groaned. He was being used, that part was clear. And he was doing nothing about it. ____________________________________ His closeness and the way he was holding her made her uncomfortable, she wanted to be out of his grip as soon as possible, but at the same time... No. Her mind was playing tricks, it was only unsure because he had been the only form of human contact she'd had in a long time. And it wasn't even a friendly gesture. "I already feel dead." her voice came out as a raspy whisper. "Why don't you just let them?" She didn't care, after all. She didn't know the trouble he was in.

"Yes," he replied, holding out his flesh arm, and saying simply, "I have a place in mind, outside of the city. If I think of it, can you take us there?" It was a cabin out in the nearest woods, old, but had electricity and running water, and food for at least two days. HYDRA kept it maintained, but the Asset knew that they would be laying low until S.H.I.E.L.D. was off of his tail. He was doing good work. They couldn't lose him.
---
The man's grip tightened on her as he said, very quietly, "I can't." That was when he let her go, arms snapping to his sides as he took a step back, eyes darting away, nervous, before he said, "we're done for today. Come on." He jerked his head towards the exit, beginning to walk, back rigid and teeth grating together as he headed towards the door, fists opening and closing and opening and closing and... They had seen, everyone else. There were cameras in here. They'd put him in the chair. He shuddered.

"I can try." Loki answered, his eyes flashed with annoyance. He shuffled over, grabbed his arm, and held tightly. He had never used this method before. "Alright. Go for it." _____________________________
Relieved they were done, she kept pace in his shadow. She glanced back up at his face, hidden by his shaggy head of hair. It puzzled her as to why he looked shaken all of a sudden. It couldn't have been because of her. There must have been something else on his mind. She had never seen him interact with another guard from here. What if he was just as much as a prisoner as she was, just maybe higher ranked if that was possible. That would mean she would be ordered to train other prisoners at some point. She shivered.

The Asset thought, and he thought hard, of the house he had been in a few times to hide from various pursuers. He was afraid of ending up somewhere that he wouldn't want to be if he didn't think hard enough, and he squeezed his eyes shut, face hard and lips thin as he waited to feel the now almost familiar tug in his gut that signified them teleporting from one place to another.
---
He unlocked her cell for her, ushering her in with a hand on her back, and following, like he always did, to sit in silence. This time though, he shut the door and headed to the chair, sitting down and wringing his hands. His long hair obscured his face, but his voice was quiet and shaky as he asked, "Your name is Madeline, correct?" That was the first time that he'd spoken her name to her, and he was afraid that it might be the last. His heart hammered out of his chest, and his tongue felt swollen as he waited for her response.
