That all-too familiar feeling of his mind swirling came back to Li, and he watched the suited men approach his group. He made a conscious effort in this brief moment to try to make himself appear bigger, perhaps he'd look like he was a threat, perhaps he'd look like he was in charge, but primarily, he was just hoping the focus was on him.
The approaching men had the opposite effect on Harriette, she shrunk back, hiding her body partially behind Li's. It was impossible for her to not draw attention, Phoebe still sobbed in her arms, commanding the attention of everyone in the room, if only for a few moments.
((kind of short but I'm just feelin real uninspired rn))

The men scanned the crowd carefully, their gazes falling on each individual face before moving on to the next person. Eventually Harriette caught their attention. There was one in particular, immaculately dressed with several medals pinned to his chest, who seemed to have more authority than the others. He was the person most interested in Harriette. Coolly, he looked to Li, then to Phoebe, and finally to her. When he spoke, it was addressing Li, not her. Smirking, the man held up a wanted poster to show the waiter. It was a sketch, not a photograph, but the image was close enough. "Sailor, do you know who this is?"
Amadeo hoped Li was good at thinking on his feet; even in the disguise it was hard to deny Harriette's resemblance to the woman in the photograph. Could she possibly be the woman in the image? And if she were, what had he gotten himself into? He was helping a fugitive! That had to be a crime somewhere!
(Don't worry about it, dude)

Li would have put more time into the thought that he'd never been mistaken as a sailor before, but dread overwhelmed him, he didn't know at all how to respond. His dry mouth was opened as if he were about to speak, but nothing happened until he was startled by a haughty laugh from behind him. He turned around to see Harriette step up, suddenly the roles had swapped and the pressure turned Li and Harriette into completely different people.
With Phoebe still crying in her arms, Harriette somehow fell under so much pressure that she no longer felt it, and her years of acting as a teenager were hopefully about to pay off. "Why, she looks like me!" A thick southern United States accent came out of her mouth out of nowhere. "Oh my, well..." Harriette tipped her head to the side for the effect, "maybe she would if she... You know..." Her voice dropped, as not to offend the drawing of the woman, "Cared more for her hair and hygiene." She immediately broke into another shrill laugh, all while still bouncing Phoebe in her arms.

The policeman looked from the silent Li and back to Harriette when she spoke, stern features blank. Without warning, he raised a hand to strike her, and then addressed the waiter. "You'd be wise to teach your woman to keep her mouth shut." (Cuz we need another reason to hate Marego...)
He was ready to move on, fooled by Harriette's clothing an accent and muttering something under his breath about the United States' loose civil liberties, when Amadeo snapped something at him in Italian. The officer looked briefly over his shoulder, smirked, and then went to the next face, still holding the poster.
"Oh, darling, are you alright?" the tailor gushed, making quite the scene. "Why did he think you were the woman in the picture?" Christopher wished he could stand with them, but those epaulettes on his shoulders were sure to attract some unwanted attention, and they didn't need any more of that.

((Sorry, these past two weeks have been. Hectic(TM). I'm going to give just one reply tonight b/c im super tired but i want to keep this RP going))
Harriette grimaced as the policeman's hand was raised, but her feet were firmly planted. She had grown used to this from her husband, she could handle it. She was almost surprised when his hand was lowered rather than connecting with her face, she hardly noticed Li's pathetic attempt to stand forward and put himself between the woman and the officer which consisted of one step partially in front of the woman while visibly shrinking. Both the refugee and the waiter started when Amadeo spoke, first in a language neither of them understood -- though they both recognized that it was likely Italian -- but then once more to Harriette directly. She hadn't expected to keep the disguise going and faltered with her first words. "I, ah. Why- Well darling I'm fine." Harriette continued to bounce her crying child, rocking her back and forth a bit, very much aware of the pairs of eyes on the group of three. "I suppose she does look like me a bit, truthfully though, I am a little confused as to how I look like I have that Marego... Look." The last word of her reply was venomously condescending. She'd never expected that her escape would get to the point where she'd have to play a character that was xenophobic against herself.
((sorry if it comes off as a lil confusing, like i said I'm tired and will try to make any upcoming replies a lot more clear))

"Still, it was quite rude of him to do that so publicly," Amadeo remarked, watching the officer go. Even when he'd rejoined his colleagues, he kept casting glances over his shoulder at Harriette. Eventually, when the rest of the passengers had been searched, he retreated from the building with the other officers. "Why am I holding my breath?" the tailor wondered aloud, using his maroon pocket square to dab away imaginary sweat. "You two are a lot of trouble, do you know that?"
"Speaking of trouble," Captain Mackenzie interrupted, seeming to appear out of nowhere, "We're going be stuck here for at least three days. The storm did more damage than we thought. I'm giving the passengers options on sleeping in here on the floor or finding something in town, but we can't have anyone aboard during repairs. After that, I'm resigning. Anyone want to be captain?"
(No worries, I've been pretty busy too)
