"Ah, my fur's long enough that I don't need them. But I appreciate the offer." Yarrowcloud chuckled. He groomed his ginger ears, mewing to him. "I'm glad at least one cat is kind to everyone. The queens will thank you for nice feathers like those."

Honeystripe purred his agreement, sitting down to scratch the last loose feather from behind his ears with a hind leg. "I'll say. I'll be picking feathers from my ears for a moon."
His ears pricked at Yarrowcloud's next comment. "Something up?" He meowed, pawing at a feather so as to seem inconspicuous. He didn't want to come across as prying, but he couldn't help but be curious.

"Ah, it's nothing you'd need to fret over, really. Just a personal thought. Hmph. You look quite a sight with all those feathers. And I'm half blind!" Yarrowcloud explained, before giving a humored snort.

Honeystripe nodded politely, choosing not to press the older warrior further. "Who knows, maybe I'll sprout wings and start flying?" He hummed, flicking a forepaw when a feather wouldn't come off it.
Good-naturedly, he playfully flicked the feather at Yarrowcloud. "You don't need both eyes to know I've got thistledown for brains!"

"Ah, I think we both do. Too bright and chipper, we are." Yarrowcloud gave a hearty laugh, the large warrior then mewing. "You're far better being a cat than a bird, anyway. Birds hunt berries, not much prey." He scoffed.

"Someone has to be," Honeystripe meowed, curling his tail around his paws. He appreciated the senior warrior's good humour - not many cats shared his light-hearted outlook. His brother often told him to be more serious. It seemed as Swiftfoot didn't believe that he could be the best warrior possible and still joke around. "What fun is there in doing nothing but worrying?" Like Swiftfoot, he thought, trying not to sigh audibly.
"I think I'd make a good bird, though. Everyone says my head's in the clouds as it is!"

"Oh don't I know that feeling. I swear, I surely must have been a bee-brain when I was an apprentice. I suppose I'm just rather talkative." Yarrowcloud shrugged, before he chuckled deeply. "Or a rabbit. You could be that too." He offered.

"Ah, no! I would be a terrible rabbit! The first cat that tried to eat me I would probably try to make friends with it." Honeystripe purred.
His apprenticeship was all-to recent in his mind; he typically veered away from bringing it up in fear of reminding clanmates how troublesome he was - still is, most likely - but Yarrowcloud had an air about him that eased the younger warrior's worries. "Can't have been any worse than me!"

"Nothing wrong with a little bit of friendliness, yeah?" Yarrowcloud offered, wrapping his fluffy tail around his paws. He chuckled. "I saw your apprenticeship as much as any of the others. You weren't bad. Sure, you got into trouble, but your heart is grand and your loyalty is true. Isn't that something to find pride in?"

Honeystripe licked his chest in embarrassment. "Of course...!" His tail twitched at the compliment. It wasn't often a senior warrior commended him on his virtues - more often it was a reprimand for avoiding duties or otherwise misbehaving. Not that he hadn't improved his attitude with age, but some cats didn't seem to let go.
"I looked up to you a great deal," he admitted, dipping his head. He still did, but that felt weird to mention. "Being a strong, dependable warrior while still being upbeat, I mean."

(Haha, he's not a senior warrior yet ^^' )
Yarrowcloud perked in surprise at those words. He blinked at him, before giving a small grin. "Really now? Even after I fell on the Thunderpath and got myself hit? But...it really feels nice for you to say that..." He admitted. Under all his optimism he still felt a wave of a depression he could never really lose. But, he felt honored to hear such words.

(( I meant in the sense of "older warrior" rather than Old Man, no worries In the sense that Honeystripe is only a couple moons out of being an apprentice I think a lot of warriors seem senior to him, lol )) "But you're still here joking with me," Honeystripe pressed. Though he had not - yet, he thought almost bitterly - ever managed to get himself into quite as dire a situation, he had always tried to put on a cheeky smile and crack a joke even when things seemed like they could turn out badly. "And still an excellent warrior. Who wouldn't look up to a cat like that?"

"Well, positivity is a good thing. Thank you, Honeystripe. If you'd like, I'm going hunting again later. You can join me." He offered. He appreciated the younger tom's outlook.
(ohhh. I see! lol ok.)

Honeystripe pricked his ears. He hadn't had much of an opportunity to go out and enjoy the sights and sounds of the territory that day besides running errands for his brother; aside from that, he would never turn down an invitation to go hunting. "Sounds great," he agreed, whiskers twitching.

"Good to hear. Let me get a bite to eat for the day, then we can go out again." Yarrowcloud smiled, waving his tail and standing up at the prospect of prey. He had hunted earlier today and had not eaten all day.

Honeystripe nodded, rising to his paws. "Great! Just let me finish with these, and I'll be there." He gathered the feathers he had put down into his mouth - as many as he could manage without getting them everywhere - and trotted to the nursery to leave them at the entrance for the queens to use.
Pleased, he shook what fuzz had stuck to his fur out and skipped to the camp entrance. He wasn't particularly hungry, he decided, and he could eat once he had fed the clan.

Yarrowcloud moved to get a mouse, not wanting any of the large prey that much. He ate it while he waited for Honeystripe. Maybe some other cats could join them, unless they hunted alone. He was fine either way.

Honeystripe returned to where Yarrowcloud had sat, sitting down as he waited for the other tom to finish eating. His paws impatiently kneaded the ground, which he promptly hid away from sight by wrapping his bushy tail around his paws.
Maybe he would run into his brother while he was out, he wondered. Part of him hoped not, though maybe it would be better for Honeystripe in the long run if Swiftfoot thought he had decided to be productive.

Yarrowcloud finished the mouse and stood, mewing. "Alright. We're good to go here. Let's see what we can catch out there." The large tom waved his tail and began to lead the way out of camp.

Dapplepaw took quick and burning breaths. He kept chanting in his head that he would die of these dreadful wounds. He choked, could only stare at Sparkpaw's unmoving form near the tree she was thrown at.
Oh Starclan, she was dead, wasn't she? He felt a pained sob fill his limp form.

Glad to get his antsy paws back up, Honeystripe jumped on to all fours - perhaps a bit too excitedly. "Ready to go!" he meowed, following close behind Yarrowcloud and out of camp. As soon as the sights and sounds of the forest territory filled his senses, his ears and nose began to twitch and angle to detect prey. It wasn't often smaller animals were found this close to camp, but there was no harm in drinking in all of his surroundings.

Brokenwing looked over at her injured clanmates and went over to Sparkpaw first. She shook her head sadly after a moment and went over to the other two, "Nightfang, Dapplepaw, are you alright?" She mewed.

Yarrowcloud gave a humored purr, his good eye bright. He mewed. "I'm very fond of squirrel. If you find one, make sure you get it." He suggested, before he shook his fur and walked. "I'm glad leafbare's over. I'm not a fan of cold weather."
Dapplepaw heard Brokenwing's voice, though it felt like his ears were filled with web. He choked out. He knew his body was not broken or paralyzed, but shock kept him still and unmoving. "S-sparkpaw..." He cried.

Nightfang was panting lightly on the ground. His body screamed with pain and he was unable to get to his paws.

"H-help...please. G-get help..." Dapplepaw sobbed to Brokenwing, trying to move to at least see his mentor, but his paws shook too much to move properly. Come on! Move!

Honeystripe's ears flicked. "I don't mind the cold so much myself," he purred. His thick fur certainly helped out in that respect. "Though I'm much happier when there's enough prey to fill everyone's bellies!"
He sniffed the air more intently. Squirrels were definitely about, that much was for sure, but it didn't seem like many were foraging on the ground level and he couldn't spot any up in the trees. He caught the scent of something warm up ahead, however, and crouched. "Might be your lucky day," he murmured, quietly. "Big fan of pheasant, myself, though it's been a long time since I saw one of those."

Brokenwing shook her head again, "I'm sorry, she's gone." Brokenwing mewed, nudging Dapplepaw to his paws, "Come on, we need to get you two back to camp. Can you help Nightfang?"

"I'll make sure to look out for a pheasent. Just for you." Yarrowcloud teased with a chuckle, lifting his nose to scent the air for any prey.
Dapplepaw gave a pained noise as she helped him up, his paws barely able to support him let alone be used. He nearly fell down, blood drenching his spotted pelt. He whimpered. "I...I don't...I dunno, can...hardly walk myself...but I'll try...she's dead. Brokenwing...s-she's dead. M-my fault..." He choked.
