Judah Nieto
Judah pushed open the door frame with little hesitation; the knob turned easily, easier than he would have expected, given that the house was going on a hundred years old. He rationalized that the past owner must have had them replaced. Even though the last person to live her moved out over twenty years ago. Judah didnโt want to think about that too much. He was certain there was some rational explanation for it โ nothing paranormal, that was all a bunch of tomfoolery, anyways. Thinking about it for longer than a few seconds allowed his imagination to wander in all sorts of ways โ most of which just freaked him out. So he wasnโt going to think about any of it. What was it that people said?
Ignorance is bliss?
Anyhow, he pushed open the door. โYo, Brinn, take a look at this.โ The room was very obviously a childโs room; painted a glossy shade of pink, the back wall covered with some sort of magenta pattern wallpaper. There were toys, a bed, all very typical for a young girls room. The thing was, no one had lived here for, what did he just say, twenty years? And this was the only room of the house so far fully furnished beyond the typical model-house upholstery. This room looked as if someone had been living in it; not for a long time, obviously, as the sheets were immaculately folded and everything covered in a fine layer of dust, but this was a personโs room. โWhat in the world?โ
The other thing that stood out about the room; all of the furnishings were old. Not just like, sitting around in a house for twenty years old. They looked straight out of the early 1900โs. The dolls were porcelain, the rug obviously hand woven. Even the fabric on the bed seemed a mothers hand sewn textile. And, for having been sitting around this long, it did not look in any state of disrepair. It was as if the room were a time warp. Like โ and Judah didnโt want to think about it too long โ walking through the door had sent them back to 1910. This had to be a joke. An elaborate prank. Some kids too-invested in the lore of the house who decided to refurnish one room the way it was before. Maybe thatโs why this door was unlocked?
โLikeโฆ what the f*ck is going on?โ

Brinnshanna Drossel
Even before the door opened a shudder ran the length of her spine, whatever they were about to walk into already had her nerves jittering. Her eyes scanned the room, widening as she took in the rather dated decor. Instantly her imagination was running away with itself, almost able to fully picture the child that had lived here. "Well it makes a change from the white." She said stepping across the threshold in to the femininely decorated room. It seemed colder in here than it had been in the rest of the house and she found herself rubbing her arms in an attempt to rekindle some warmth.
"It looks like something out of a history book." She ran a finger delicately over the face of one of the porcelain dolls, surprisingly free of dust unlike the rest of the room. "This can't all be real. Someone has got to be messing about. Trying to make it look like how it would have years ago." If it was true whoever had done this had done a good job, the room even had that old feel to it. Like a museum perhaps and the musky smell of mothballs and dust to compliment it. She looked up and across at Judah, a smile toying with her lips.
"It's kinda cool really, like taking a step back in time. Even if these things freak me out." She said waving a hand at the dolls whose glass eyes observed their every movement. Unable to stand still she wandered the length of the room, looking about her at all of the items, some placed with utmost care and others strewn aside with childish carelessness. If this was staged it was perfect. No matter how many times she assured herself it wasn't real that creeping doubt came back along with the thought that maybe their was some truth behind the stories. Now she didn't believe in ghosts, the same way she didn't follow any form of religion. Her mind was strictly logical and she didn't believe in things that she couldn't prove scientifically, so even allowing herself to wonder what it was about this house that made goosepimples rise on her arms made her feel foolish. That is not to say that she wasn't open minded, merely sceptical.
"Shall we see if any of the other rooms are unlocked?" She quizzed, suddenly getting that feeling she was being watched, as illogical as that thought was.
