- Harmonia's Courtyard Stalking into Harmonia's Courtyard was Orion Crosswell, a faint smile playing on his lips. He'd just come from the Great Hall and had seen the flurry of Athenians and Hunters working on masks for the masquerade ball for tomorrow night. It was only Rion's second year at Olympia Academy, so this was only his second time experiencing the autumn solstice festivities, but every time he passed the Great Hall and the frenzy, he couldn't help but snicker to himself. He found the feather masks quite silly - they, to him, had almost a childlike quality about them. So, last year he had improvised, and being a shadow manipulator, had just made a mask of shadows to cover his face. It didn't necessarily work - the Wardogs knew who he was without a second glance, and the other students knew who he was, seeing as his mask was literally made out of his ability. But, before the general population could figure out it was him, they had to run by every name of every shadow manipulator they knew of before they could deduce it was him.
It had taken Rion a long time for him to finally love his ability. When he first found out about his ability to control shadows, he thought it was a sick joke. Not the fact that he had a power - no, that didn't faze him. It was the fact that it was shadows; he'd spent a majority of his life trying to get out of the shadows - that's why he was such a loud and rambunctious person; he was constantly trying to remind his father that he couldn't be forgotten about and shoved into the shadows. Slowly but surely, however, he'd learned to love his unique ability with his whole heart.
One of the Wardogs that was engaged in the playful shoving nearly collided into him - he didn't give an apology and Rion didn't care. He didn't expect an apology from any Wardog. Finding Mitchell, who was seated not that far away from where Rion was standing, he made his way to him. "What are those two numbskulls fighting over?" Rion asked once he was in proximity to Mitch. It could be a number of things that they were worked up about, and Rion wasn't particularly keen on the idea of trying to figure it out on his own. Not when someone else was there that could easily have known what was going on.

Mulan - ah depends if you want to place your characters in different places than mine? if you wanted to throw them in then one of them could possibly find Keziah in the Garden of Hades? or be helping Myra with the masks? if you wanted them somewhere else then ah I could throw Lena or Lila with Mina, or she could get roped in by Lila into doing something with her for festivities, because if I'm not mistaken Mina doesn't have a clique? as for which character, it depends on which one you have muse for! or who you'd like to use right now! whoever calls to you~ wow, that's such crappy advice, I'm so sorry xD
@ stars - she is so cute omg<3 I love dogs ahh good night Stars!

Mitchell Lewis
Harmonia's Courtyard -- Late Afternoon
The buzz that surrounded the courtyard lulled Mitch into feeling warm and content again, his thoughts wandering off. He was thinking about the ball again. It would be his third year, and he would wear one of the silly sequined feather masks because he found it amusing. Especially if it was a fiery one. Almost everyone knew it was him, especially with the hair and then the nearly matching mask, he never actually tried to conceal himself during the ball. But Winter's Day at least didn't involve water, unlike Summer's Day, where most people carried around water guns and almost everyone ended up completely soaked. And the Wardogs made some kind of special effort to hit him with freezing cold water with every change they had.
The thoughts were beginning to melt away under the warm sun. Somewhere in the foggy haze of his brain, he vaguely remembered he'd probably get a mild sunburn from dozing for too long in the sun, but he couldn't bring himself to quite care enough to get up. He was too heavy, the sun soaking into his limbs and making him too heavy. That is until he heard a familiar voice close. "Hmm?" He cracked open one eye and glanced up at Rion who was strolling over. The other Wardog was only a year younger than Mitch and a shadow manipulator. "What are those two numbskulls fighting over?" Mitch snorted at the question and smirked. "Ah, they both think their gonna get some hot Athenian chick to go out to the Winter's ball with them." Mitch rolled his eyes lifting one arm behind his head and watching the two shove each other.
However, both eyes opened wider and the honey warm laziness he'd just relaxed himself into turned to ice cold panic when he saw the taller, heavier-set boy shove a lankier kid into the murky pool. He flinched and sat up suddenly, but the lankier kid resurfaced seconds later, dripping wet and annoyed, but not drowned. The kid was cursing at his friend, who was laughing his tail off and pointing. "Dumba--es." Mitch muttered and leaned back, trying to regain his relaxed and "I don't care" posture, although he was a little more on edge. "So, what's up, Rion?" He asked quickly, squinting past the sun to make out the other boy's features. "Excited for tomorrow's masquerade?" He joked, voice dripping with with a bit of sarcasm, although a little forced.

Cali Pherenike The Great Hall -- Late Afternoon In the moment that she crossed the threshold into the Great Hall, Cali realized that she truly hated Winter's Day. Her disdain filled eyes surveyed the feathers and sparkles and fabric that hung from every table and every person. Athenians and Hunters worked dutifully, laughing and gluing glitter to carbon copy masks. The only real reason she was even in the Great Hall was to obtain one such mask, though it physically pained her to do so. It wasn't a secret that the girl was pretty, beautiful even, and covering her face seemed like a crime against mankind. She never wore a mask on Winter's Day, but a long time friend had finally convinced her to join in with the tradition. Hence the reason why she was braving the nightmare that was glitter and sequence. Cali walked down the rows upon rows of students working, surveying the masks that were being made. Her face scrunched in contempt at the sight of them. They were all childish, ugly, and would clash severely with her brown sweater and black shirt. She sighed. I should have had Ami make me one when she offered. The Fury slowed down, running out of hope that she would find a moderately acceptable mask. It wasn't the end of the world if she couldn't find one, in fact she would be quite alright. After all, she had gone years without wearing one. She just didn't want to go back to this particular friend empty handed. She might not survive the night. Backing up against on the many work tables, she crossed her arms and chewed her bottom lip in thought. What to do, what to do? In the midst of her thoughts she just so happened to look over to the girl at the table. A pink feather dangled teasingly from her hair. Without thinking, she reached over and plucked the feather from the girl's curly hair. She dropped it in mid air before watching it float nonchalantly to the ground. Then, as if she had done nothing at all, she returned to chewing her lip, arms crossed and eyes sharp. "I hate feathers... " Cali breathed out, her thoughts escaping her mouth. She wondered if she could bribe one of the workers to make a special mask for her. One without feathers or glitter or sequence. ( ʀᴀᴠᴇɴωᴏʟғ ♥ I hope this is an acceptable starter. I just did something. XD)

Omg I am so sorry, my alerts weren't working so I never saw your reply Raven. I'll get to that right away! - Rion snorted at Mitch's news. With amusement, he turned back to watch the heavyset boy and lanky kid battle it out. For starters, there was no way an Athenian would be going out with the likes of those two. The only way would be if they wore very convincing masks and she took enough pity on them - maybe she'd deign to give them a dance. The odds were still extremely low.
When the lanky kid got pushed into the pool, Rion let out a laugh, but didn't miss the reaction Mitch had in his peripheral vision. Rion knew Mitch had a fear - or, at the very least, a deep-rooted dislike - of water; Rion never cared to get the details of why Mitch didn't like it since it didn't concern him. Regardless, to Rion, it was hysterical; a water manipulator afraid of water? Well. It was slightly hypocritical of Rion to think that - after all, he had hated his ability for the longest time, but he certainly never had a fear of the shadows.
At Mitch's new line of questions, Rion turned to face the squinting Wardog. Before coming to Olympia, Rion had loved the sun, since it ensured that everyone could see him, since he always felt like he was invisible in the shadows. Which, unbeknownst to him, was slightly true; before he was able to control his ability, he had melted into the shadows slightly, so it was easy to overlook him if he wasn't in direct light. Now that he had some more control over his shadows, he didn't like direct sunlight all that much. It made him feel sluggish sometimes. "I just got done with my last class of the day," Rion shrugged. It was actually a light manipulation class that he had to take. However valid the reason may be for shadow manipulators needing to take that class, it didn't matter. He still despised the class, the professors, and light manipulators he had to sit through it with. "As for the masquerade, I'm thrilled. I can't wait to see everyone wearing elementary school arts and crafts on their faces, and all the new kids who think we can't tell who they are. I mean, it's not a big school." Rion had noted the sarcastic note in Mitch's voice and responded similarly. "What about you? Ask anyone? Or are you going to seduce someone there and hope they don't see your hair?" At that point, he was teasing. Last year, Mitch had accented his hair with a red mask; it wasn't hard to tell who he was. Even if Mitch went for a different color, it'd still be pretty easy to put two and two together.

I mashed both my posts sorta together for this, that's why it's a quote Also, not my best (starters man I don't like them), but they do get better
-The Great Hall Stalking into the Great Hall was Orion Crosswell, a faint smile playing on his lips. He'd come just to see the flurry of Athenians and Hunters working on masks for the masquerade ball for tomorrow night. Once the mask failed its purpose, Rion had just attended the party unmasked.
Rion was starting to slink closer to the shadows of the Great Hall, observing the last minute chaos. Athenians and Hunters alike were sitting at tables, feathers flying everywhere. They were stuck to hair and clothes, and a few wayward feathers floated in the air before finding their final resting place on the ground. Amusement glinted in his hazel eyes as he watched the worker bees, but stopped when he saw the Fury meandering about the rows of workers. Wardogs and Furies were both notoriously absent from the mask making, and the way she walked around, looking over shoulders to look at the masks, Rion figured she was an observer, like he.
Seeing as the Furies were the sisters to the Wardogs, Rion knew the girl, Cali. They weren't exactly friends, per se, but they knew enough about each other to be considered acquaintances. Rion had been told, by the older boys he was friends with, that Cali didn't join in on the festivities for Winter's Day by wearing a mask. So, when Rion strolled up to her from behind, that's why he stated with a light, amused tone: "I thought you were above the feathers and sequins."
