Sarah nodded at the suggestions. As if to emphasize things, her stomach began to growl then. "If it's not too much trouble," she said after in a small, rather shy voice. These people were helping her, but she didn't want to be a huge burderden.
"It's no trouble," Shane told her and helped her up. She was moved to sit on the couch while he sat down beside her. "Okay, Sarah, can you tell me what happened? Why do you look like you've been running through the woods? And why come to our door?" he asked then frowned a bit. "I'm sorry. I don't want to overwhelm you with questions. Just tell me what you can."
"It's okay," the blonde girl said quietly then took a deep breath to calm herself further. Her eyes shut for a moment before gazing down at her hands folded together in her lap. "I was kidnapped," she began quietly, clearly very shaken by the memories. "I was going home from a small party with friends when I was jumped. Two large men just shoved me in the back of their car. Then, one tied my hands together really tightly and put on a blindfold and a gag. I don't know how long we drove, but it was the next morning when we finally arrived to a cabin in the woods and they shoved me out of the car. the blindfold slipped off." She paused, taking another deep breath while Shane rubbed her back lightly again. "They put me in a room alone, it was barren of any furniture. Locking me in, they just went somewhere else in the house. There was a window. I kicked it so it shattered then climbed out. It tore my clothes pretty bad." That explained the tears and a lot of the scratches. "I just ran with my hands still together. I ran and ran through the brush, never looking back until I thought my lungs were going to burst. There was a sharp rock I found that I used to cut the ropes off my wrists. But then I heard them in the distance. Those men were yelling for me. they were coming. So, I started running again, until I reached this motel. You guys were the only ones with the lights on this late, so I prayed somebody inside would be awake and help me." She started to choke up. "Thank you so much for being awake."

"I...don't really remember much," Sarah answered quietly, trying not to cry too much. "I was too scared. The only thing I really remember about them was they were really muscular, and they both had short, brown hair. Maybe they were brothers or something. i don't know."
"It's okay. We're not gonna force you to remember," Shane told her gently then looked to Phallon. "Go and get her some of that dinner, would you? While you're doping that I'd like to take a look at these cuts and disinfect them." He looked to Sarah. "Is that okay?" She just gave a sheepish nod, sniffling.

Shane got up and went to the bathroom where they stored their first-aid kit, the one not specific for just him - that one was concealed in one of his bags. He brought the small kit out and opened it up then produced some band-aids, disinfectant spray, and bandages for the deeper cuts. "Just hold still while I fix you up. Then you can eat," he promised Sarah and began working, first cleaning the wounds and then applying the appropriate amount of bandaging. It was only a few minutes before he was done. "There, that should do it."
Sarah was calming down pretty significantly now. It really helped that they were both being so nice and gentle with her. She gratefully took the food once her wounds were tended to and dug right in, very hungry. She hadn't eaten since she was taken a whole day ago. Still, the woman was careful not to make a mess.

Shane glanced over at Phallon just in time to see that question in her eyes. He could only give a tiny shrug in response. The man prepared for everything was no prepared for this. He had no idea what to do. This had never happened before in his years of working for the Organization. He had never thought this would happen at all. There was no protocol. The man was sure the police wouldn't help; in a city like this they usually didn't care too much about things except the really big stuff like bank robberies and bombings. But kidnappings and murders were the norm. Nothing much was ever done, so what should they do? He stood up then. "Phallon, I need to speak with you real quick," he said and then headed into the bedroom so they'd ahve some privacy.

Sarah watched Shane go with a bit of fear in her eyes. She was just scared they'd kick her out tonight to fend for herself after the meal. The thought made her rethink the rapid bites she'd been taking, turning them into more gradual tidbits. At least it let her also enjoy the food now. As Phallon spoke to her, she did not speak back, only giving a simple nod in return.
Shane stood and waited in the bedroom until his companion entered a couple moments later. The man crossed his arms and leaned on the wall, shaking his head. "Yeah, it's something," he agreed and sighed with a frown adorning his face. "I don't know what to do, Phallon. This is something no one ever expected, not me, not my work, nobody. With the cops being the way that they are there's no sense in trying to get them to help. I don't know what to do." He hung his head more, seemingly in shame.

Shane thought about that one for a second, bringing a hand up to rub his stubbly chin as his gaze was on the floor. "I suppose that would work," he said quietly then looked back up at her and folded his arms again. "But maybe there's something better. Maybe I could just tell my bosses what's up and ask for some money to send her home, like bus fair and stuff. I mean, they are about helping people get back into society, even if they don't use the best means. But an innocent girl who needs a ride home, surely they can find it in their hearts to give an extra couple hundred dollars. It's not like it'll hurt their rich, government funded company anyway."

Shane's eyes drifted back to the floor while pondering the idea. "Well, everything is risky, but so far nothing really jumps out at me about this girl being bad. Honestly, I doubt her family is any worse. They're most likely just regular people anyway. Let's ask her about her family a bit first, just to be safe," he decided. "If anything jumps out at us about them being dangerous then we will simply give her money to get home on her own, if not, then we can ask them to come get her. That sound okay?" Their options really were limited, and each one presented itself with different risks yet the same reward. It all came down to how badly they wanted to help this girl.

"If they do then they won't get too far," Shane told her simply in reply, his tone and expression dead serious. He stood tall again and opened the door then walked out to find Sarah barely half way through her meal now that she was eating a lot more slowly. "Can you tell us a bit about your family?" he asked then, coming to reclaim his seat on the couch by the girl. "Do you have any that could come and get you?"
Sarah swallowed her mouthful and then shook her head. "No," she said with a frown. "My parents are in Florida. But a friend might be able to come here and get me. Maybe. Where is this city?" Shane answered with the name of it, in New York, and the poor girl's eyes got to the size of the plate her food was served on. "New York?!" It was then that she started to panic a bit. "That's so far away from my house! No one's going to be able to come out here to get me!"

Sarah just shook her head. "They would have no idea I'm here. I live in Tennessee, alone. The only one at my house is my cat," she told Phallon as she began the early stages of hyperventilating. Then there was a hand placed on her shoulder gently by Shane. He gave her a reassuring look, not even speaking but telling her still not to worry. She gazed into his soft eyes for a moment and then took a slower, deep breath instead of rapid and shallow ones.
"Is there anybody who could even suspect something is wrong?" he asked her then, hoping there was at least a friend or something.
Sarah thought a moment then nodded. "Uh, yeah. My friend Marcus. We text almost ever day. He might be worried."

"He'll still be awake, but I don't know if he'll answer," Sarah replied with a frown. The way she saw it, it was a 50/50 chance that he would actually answer the phone from some random number. "Oh, wait. I can text him. We have a safe word, so if I text him that then he should know it's me." Her voice and expression were getting much lighter now, more excited. there was actually hope that she could get back home very soon!

"Thank you," Sarah said to her and took the phone. She opened it up and went to text messages then input his number. She texted him the simple word 'watermelon.' It was a tense few moments to wait and see if her friend would reply. The woman's eyes were glued to the phone screen, but then finally came the text back. "Sarah?" Sarah's eyes widened with excitement, and she quickly typed back, her fingers flying over the buttons. "Yes! Marcus, I'm in Dale's Port, New York. I need help getting home." The two started to text back and forth then with Sarah getting more and more excited and even happy as they did so.

"Yeah, that sounds nice. We can let those two sort things out," Shane replied and got up. He went to the small kitchen area and grabbed a plate of the food. He also poured himself a glass of milk before sitting down and beginning to eat. He smiled at the taste. "Phallon, you are such a good cook. You don't even realize," he told her, really happy with the food. He always loved it when she cooked because it was always so good.

"Ah, I don't mind cold spaghetti," Shane told her with a smile, some red tomato sauce sticking on his upper lip a bit. Of course, he didn't realize the little mess on his face as he looked at her with a smile and spoke. "I might be better at making some things, but I really think you're better at making other things, like this spaghetti, for example." The man took another bite of the food and smiled as he chewed to further prove his point, even though it also got more sauce on his stubbly face.

As Phallon wiped off the bit of sauce on his face, the man couldn't help but be a bit embarrassed to have food on his face. However, right as his companion spoke of making better desserts, he nodded his agreement. "Oh yeah, definitely. I can't do desserts well unless it's putting toppings on ice cream," Shane told her and added a slight chuckle in his voice. "I was never any good at baking. Wasn't something I had to learn either, so eh. I'll leave the dessert making to you, especially after that peach you made the first time we were together." It had actually become his favorite dessert now.

Shane nodded and swallowed his mouthful before speaking. "Yeah, I do. Probably more than I should, honestly. I'm not addicted or anything, but my job definitely takes a lot out of me." It was more of a way of coping, like how when men were going through tough situations such as divorce, they would drink to try and feel better for a little while, even if it didnt actually resolve the problem. It was the same deal here, except with a much different scenario. "I bet I'd really enjoy the meal, though, more than the drink. The way you cook, I know for a fact I'm gonna really enjoy the dessert. I just hope you don't cook so much that I won't have room for dessert."
