I'll just do it then, lol)
Plopping down on the couch, the tired man let out a long, deep sigh as his body sank into the cushions. After the long day of work, his muscles ached, which was something uncommon for him. But, when you were lifting very heavy boxes for two extra hours, it did tend to happen. Shane gladly switched on the TV and relaxed on the motel room couch.
He'd taken a bit of overtime tonight, to get the extra money needed for their trip to a new city for a nicer place to stay. His bosses had granted him $300 extra dollars to help, but it wasn't much. there was only so much money you could 'find ont he street' without it being suspicious. Of course, his bosses had no idea of Phallon's regained memories or the fact that finding a better place to live was her idea. Do far, though, they were doing pretty well with making and saving the money needed for their move. Although, finding a place to move to was still on the to-do list.

While Shane headed for the couch, Phallon went on to shower and change her clothes. The past few days had been productive for the couple. Both had thrown themselves into their work. There was only so much money she could make, but with Shane putting in some overtime, they were bringing in a little more money for their savings. Little by little, their plans would be put into action.
When she was bathed and ready for bed, she walked back into the living room. "Anything good on?" she asked Shane as she stopped behind him on the couch, wrapping her arms around his neck. Since their first date, the woman had become used to giving small signs of affections towards her companion in the safety of their motel room. However, on night like this, she didn't try to do anything to interfere with his rest. While Shane worked over time, Phallon just hanged around in the back of the store, waiting for him to get done. She got an hour or so to rest when he didn't.

"Nah, not really," Shane replied but tilted his head back and gave her a tired smile. "I'm not really gonna be watching much anyway. I'm so tired right now," he told her, bringing a hand up to rest on hers while her arms draped lightly over his shoulders. "I can't believe Ted," Ted was the manager at Walmart, "had me move all those boxes of soap by myself. I mean, I know I'm strong, but soap is freaking heavy when they're all piled in big boxes like that. He should have just let me use the skid loader instead. But, of course, he insists on saving one gallon of gas." The man let out a sight hen, his face now directed at the TV again, where a commercial for fast food played. "It's not like the dude even pays for the gas in the company skidloader. I don't know what his problem is..." His overtime could have just as easily consisted of restocking shelves or he;ping late night customers, but no, he had to do a lot of heavy lifting.

Shane chuckled a bit at the thought. "Yeah, that'd be interesting to say the least. I might have a lot of skills, but being a leader isn't really one of them," he told her. "I'm not so good with numbers either, so keeping tabs on all the inventory and shipments and ordering more stuff would be more difficult for me than you'd think." He paused then, thinking, before continuing. "But it would bring in some more money. That's for sure. I know I could get the job too if I contact my actual bosses." He turned his head to look at her. "Do you think I should get it?" It would actually be a challenge for him, but there were people to teach him how to do the job, and their coworkers probably would welcome the change.

"That's where you got me," Phallon stated with a smile. She had a good grasp on numbers. Had she had the chance to attend high school, she would have done well in algebra. But she still had a knack for keeping track of things. When you were a thief, you had to keep track of everything you had to make sure you got paid the right amount. You also had to make sure you were getting paid the correct amount. "If you want the job, then, yeah, go for it. But if you don't want to deal with everything, then don't. We'll get the money we need sooner or later. Besides, the longer it takes, the more time I get you to myself."

Shane couldn't help but smile at her reasoning. It just made him feel so good inside to hear her say such things, to know she wanted him there with her. He pulled her into a hug and then kissed her cheek. "Yeah, you're right. I won't take it then. The longer I get to spend with you, the better. And as long as we are making some steady progress, my bosses shouldn't bother me a whole lot." That was the best thing. The more impatient his bosses got, the greater the risk there was of everything going wrong. However, since they were trying to move to a new place, his bosses would perceive that as progress and keep them at bay for at least a little bit longer.

"You sure?" Shane asked with a raised brow, keeping her in his arms, although not as tightly so he could look at her face. "Those boxes today were seriously heavy. If something's too heavy then I don't want you lifting it cause you could end up hurting yourself," he told her then gave her another peck on the cheek. "I know you're strong too, but everyone has their limits." He just really didn't her to end up in the hospital with a torn muscle or ligament since there was no money to pay for it. That would be extremely painful, as well.

Shane couldn't help but smile at what she said about cheering him on. "That's gonna be just a bit embarrassing to have you cheering while I move boxes," he told her and rolled his eyes. At her question, he simply shrugged. "I don't really mind what we have. Make whatever you feel like eating and I'll eat it, too." The man wasn't so picky when it came to what he ate.

"What about you, though? Aren't you tired too?" Shane asked, turning his head and top half of his torso to watched her from the couch. His arm now hung over the back of the sofa as leverage. "I know you didn't lift heavy boxes like I did, but you still put in a full day's work and had to stay in that place longer. Maybe you should just rest up too," the man suggested.

"No thanks," Shane answered back. He barely even wanted to eat, to be honest. Yeah, the man was starving after all the literal heavy lifting he'd done, but he was more tired and ready for a long sleep than anything else. Actually, the couch was pretty comfy... Maybe he'd just lie down on it for a bit like old times and watch some TV while Phallon made the food. Positioning himself, he got comfortable on the sofa with his head on the arm rest and half his legs off the edge of the other one and arms folded over his stomach. It wasn't long before his eyes fluttered shut and he was drifting off into the land of sleep.

As she cooked, Phallon hummed softly to herself. She blamed Shane for the habit. While she was becoming a fan of the songs he sang, she didn't break into full out karaoke like he did. In her opinion, he was the better singer out of the two of them, so she left the serenading to him. After twenty minutes, the pasta was done, mixed with sauce, and served on two plates. The woman turned her head to call for Shane, but stopped when she didn't see him on the couch. Walking over to where he once had been sitting, Phallon discovered Shane lying down asleep. She didn't know how long he had been like this. Should she wake him? He was clearly exhausted. But she had just made dinner.
In the end, she decided to use the method her mother had once used on her to determine whether or not she was actually asleep. Leaning down, Phallon placed a kiss on Shane's forehead. If he woke at the contact, then she would get him to eat. If he didn't, then she wouldn't disturb him. She would just wrap his plate up and put it in the fridge for tomorrow.

The man hadn't been asleep long and was only in one of the lighter fazes of sleep. However, when a kiss was planted softly on his head, all he did in reaction was smile, but he did not wake up fully. His body and mind were both so tired, so letting him sleep probably would be the best option here. However, something strange woke him up. A loud knock sounded on the door, causing Shane jolt fully awake and sit up, head going to the door and hand instantly going to the knife that was always in his pocket. Now, he was running on instinct and all that training he'd had throughout his life.

Seeing the smile spread across his face caused her own lips to twist up in amusement. "Glad to see that works," she murmured, straightening up. So he was awake, but showed no interest in moving. It looks like she'd be eating and sleeping alone tonight. She wouldn't complain. After all, Shane was doing his best to help her. He deserved to rest, and that's what she was going to let him do. She had just straightened up to go fetch a blanket for him when the knock sounded on the door.
Freezing, Phallon stared at the door. They never got visitors. Her first instincts were to ignore whoever it was outside, pretend they weren't home, but they couldn't do that. The lights were clearly on, shining through the window. "Do you think we should see who that is?" she whispered to Shane, afraid to make any noise. It could easily just be someone waiting to see if anyone was there so they could try and rob the room. Or it could be someone from Shane's job. That thought sent a chill down her spine as she glanced over at him.

"I gotta see who it-" Before the man could even finish his sentence, there was more loud pounding on the door, this time a lot more frantic. Then came the cries of a young woman through the thin wood. "Please, let me in! I need help! Please!" Shane's eye narrowed, but in them showed an instinct of compassion. He got up, knife in hand and pocket, and went to the door. He opened it, ready to stab whoever was on the other side if it happened to be a trick. However, when his blue eyes landed on the dirty, hysterical girl before him, his fingers unfurled from the knife.
The girl was no older than Phallon herself, her long, blonde her dirty and tangled with bits of leaves and twigs entwined in the locks. Her brown eyes were wide with fear, she was hyperventilating, and her head was on a swivel, looking back and over her shoulders constantly while only actually throwing glances to the gigantic man before her. "Please, help me. He's after me," she begged. "Please let me in. Call the police."

Phallon wasn't far behind Shane. Peeking from around him, she studied the poor girl on the other side of the door. In all her time in the city, she had never seen someone in the shape she was in. It was as if she had running through the woods before knocking on their door. She fought against both suspicious and the urge to welcome the girl inside to save her from whatever, or whoever, was chasing her. This could be a trick. But if it wasn't, the longer she stood out there, the better chance the girl might get hurt.
"Let her in," she mutter to Shane in the end. If this was a trap, then she would take full responsibility. Yet the young woman couldn't stand to make the girl wait outside in her state. She remember all too clearly the state of hysteria she felt when being drugged and tossed into the van that lead to her memory wipe. Seeing it flashing across this unknown girl's face was enough to at least invite her inside.

Shane nodded his agreement and stepped aside. the girl rushed in the room and then spun around to face them once standing in the middle of the main area. "Thank you! Oh, thank you!" It was at this time that she started to break down, tears welling up in her eyes quickly and then streaming down her face while she collapsed to her knees, on the floor.
Shane shut the door and locked it, but not before poking his head out and glancing around. He then went over to the girl and sat down beside her, gently placing his hand on her back. "It's gonna be okay now. You'll be okay." His voice as he spoke to her was in such a soft tone. He was trying his best to comfort the terrified woman while not being frightening himself, since he was a rather large stranger.

The girl flinched at Shane's touch at first but then relaxed and continued to cry like before. It was nice to have some comfort, though. When offered water and a paper towel a minute later, she gratefully took the water first and took a few deep breaths to calm down then drank it, realizing how thirsty she really was. She chugged half the glass before almost gasping for air and then going right back to rapidly finish the drink. After, she took the paper towel and gave the glass back in exchange. The woman wiped her face of tears, slowly calming down all the while Shane continued to rub her back to offer some sort of comfort.

It took a moment for the woman to answer, but she finally nodded. "Yes," she breathed, looking to Phallon and then clearing her throat a bit. "Thank you so much."
Shane took over the situation then. "Are you hurt at all? You do seem to have a few scratches on your legs and some bruising on your wrists, but nothing is broken or hurts really bad, right?" He questioned her. She shook her head. "Alright. Do you mind telling us what happened? I'm sorry to say that the police in this city won't really do much, but I'll do what I can to help, okay? I'm sure Phallon here wouldn't mind helping too." He nodded to Phallon. "My name is Shane, by the way."
The girl watched him as she listened then nodded slightly response to his questions. Clearly, she was upset to hear the police couldn't really help, or wouldn't, but she also seemed glad to have help from them at least. "I can...tell you what happened," she agreed and nodded again. "Uh, my name's Sarah." Now that she was calming down, her sense was returning, and it was becoming easier to talk.
