It's actually pretty frustrating because I'm trying to move to a new house, and I have to make a nether pathway for quicker transport. Coordinates are my enemy)
"Always," Shane replied. He did it out of total habit anymore and always double checked them, too. "Think you can let go of me long enough so that we can get in bed?" His inquiry was spoken in a gentle tone. Nothing about it or his body language suggested teasing or upset right now. He genuinely felt bad for her and wanted her to feel safe. And he'd make sure that nothing would happen to her tonight, or any time so long as he was with her.

Oh yeah, I do, mostly. I've played for years, but they keep updating it, and I'm also horrible with coordinates. I'm dying inside from it...)
Waiting until she fully let go and indicated she was ready to try and relax, he stood and watched her slowly make her way to the bed then look back at him. Shane walked past her and around to the other side of the bed then laid down, taking out his knife to set it on the nightstand so it wasn't in his pocket while sleeping. He pulled the covers up to his chest and laid down, facing Phallon. "Don't worry. Nothing's gonna happen as long as I'm here," he reassured her, knowing full well by the way she was acting that she was still pretty scared.

That is very true, though they usually use mods to help. But still, the ideas are definitely freaking amazing with how they turn out.)
For a moment, Shane just laid there and watched her in the low light. He heard the small noises outside, but even he wasn't as worried about them, and he was usually the super paranoid one. In his mind, there could be an easy solution. But could he really do that? He couldn't allow himself to become too attached to her. Like everyone else, he'd have to leave eventually. He couldn't become too attached... But she needed some comfort really badly. Mentally sighing, the man scooted closer to her on the bed and put an arm around her then pulled her to him. "Just relax. You're safe," he told her calmly and quietly, his head right above hers on the pillows.

I can do little things usually, but that's about it. I obviously haven't seen your sister's things, but I give her props already)
Shane stayed as he was, his own heart starting to pound more. But he was happy as he noticed Phallon start to drift off back into the realm of slumber. However, he wouldn't be sleeping again for a while. Being this close to her, holding her like he was... The internally struggle was so real. It was as if two titans were battling it out in an all out death brawl, but they were evenly matched, and all it really did was cause destruction around them. He wanted to like her as more than his work companion, but at the same time he really knew that he shouldn't and had to resist it. This would be a long night for him.

Eh, whatever you want to do. I'm gonna say that her just waking up with them is fine. Everything can just fall into place)
Shane frowned as Phallon shifted closer to him. Even though inside it was what he wanted, he knew it would only aid in making letting her go even harder. He sighed quietly but got an idea then. Yeah, he would have to leave soon. But would this one night of cuddling to keep her feeling safe be so bad? Would it really change anything, logically, no, it wouldn't. It wouldn't make him like her any more. I just allowed him to be hallo about being close to her for once without the intense conflicting emotions. It seemed the titan for liking her had own then internal battle this time. Just this once, he told himself mentally. Scooting closer so their bodies touched more. With a nose so close to her hair now, he couldn't help but smell it each time he breathed. She smelled so nice, and when he closed his eyes, with the comforts of her presence, he was soon off in dreamland.

(Okay then. I'll have her regain all memories when she wakes up in the morning, but because of Shane's dislike of criminals, she won't come forth with the information eagerly.)
The rest of the night was calm. There was no more nightmares, no more worrying if they were going to be dragged away at any moment. No more people shot. Everything was peaceful. Phallon dreamed, but nothing like before. In fact, her mind reviewed images and scenes that felt more real than imaginary. It never stayed the same for long, only a few seconds before the scene changed. After her last dream, she should have felt joyous. Yet something in her subconsciousness felt wrong. The faces of her parents and grandparents, images of her home, of the town she moved to, feelings of anger and resentment, followed all too closely by grief and fear, and scenes of houses and buildings all unable to keep her out swirled around. A couple of bracelets here, a laptop there, money exchanging hands.
Phallon woke with the image of an old iron lock opening. For a moment, she didn't move. The feelings of unease following her into consciousness. Something was wrong. Her heart was beginning to race as she tried to scan her brain for what might be different. Past events were brought up and reviewed. The nightmares were proven to be nothing more than nightmares. The criminal from the alley was dead. The man who captured her hadn't been seen in again. The cops weren't chasing her and didn't even know she was here. Why was she nervous? Her eyes flew open, and had it not been the sight and feeling of Shane's body so close to hers, she might have sat up. Her memories! Every one of them swarmed her mind in clear details. At first she wanted to deny it, but how could she? There was no way she could have made up all of them. Her dreams were vivid, but not that much.
(Ugh, that just felt awkward. Sorry if it's not good. If you need me to make it better, I will.)

Sounds perfect :3 And your response is fine. It does what it has to and still gives good detail. Nothing to worry about)
It had only been a few hours since they had fallen asleep. The clock currently read 5:47 AM, and Shane was still asleep. He still held her close and even a small smile could be seen on his face. No doubt he was happy to be where he was, and possibly even having a pleasant dream about it, too. However, something in him told him it was time to wake up when Phallon stirred. It was probably his highly trained instincts, letting him know that she was awake from the little movement her body had made while jolting out of her dream.
The man sleepily opened his eyes and then let out a yawn. "Everything okay?" he asked her quietly, not quite moving from his position yet. He liked being able to hold her like this, and he didn't ehar anything that could be a threat right now. There was no sensation of being watched either. "Have another nightmare? It's okay, you know? I'm right here, and nothing is gonna happen to you as long as I'm around."

(Thanks. Also, I just recently watched Sweeny Todd, and there's a song with nearly those exact same lines in it. I'm finding it funnier than I should. XD ) Phallon took a deep breath to still her heart ad racing thoughts. She needed time to think of what to do. It was clear that she still had no idea what had happened after she was captured, but had deemed a month ago that nothing appeared to be wrong. Physically at least. There was no need to panic, but what was she going to do now? All of her personal belongings were back at the other town she was living in, if they hadn't been stolen yet. She wanted to go get them, yet it wasn't like she could just up and leave. Money was still an issue. If she wished to go anywhere from this city, she would have to save more money. But how? Work was easy money, but it would take forever to save up the funds. There was always thievery, but Shane was always around her. As if he could tell she was thinking of him, the man spoke, pulling her from her thoughts. It was the first time she let herself become aware of how close they had gotten during the night. Her face was tucked under his chin, one arm draped over his side, and still wrapped up tightly in his arms. She would've blushed had she not been faced with such a dilemma. What was she going to tell Shane? "No, no more nightmares," she muttered in response. "Just forgot who was holding me. Everything's fine now." It was true. She had forgotten he was there until he woke up. Whether or not everything was okay depended on what would happen later on in the day.

"Why'd you wake up then? Worried about something?" Shane asked her quietly, clearly still pretty sleepy by the tone of his voice. If need be, he could be up and ready to fight in an instant, but since no threats presented themselves to him, he was just a regular, tried guy. "It's not even 6:00 AM yet. You sure everything's fine?" He knew that when people woke up in the middle of the night it was usually either because of nightmares, someone was watching them and their sort of sixth sense told them, or they were worried about something. It did concern him a bit since this was the second time tonight Phallon had woken up suddenly. "We can talk if you want." He'd do just about anything to make her feel comfortable and/or happy.

This woke up Shane just a bit more, and he propped his torso up slightly with his elbow. Yet, he didn't move his other arm from around her. It felt too good and natural to not have his arm around her right now, and it was for comfort anyway if it needed anymore justification in his mind. He looked down at her in the low light, his eyes slowly adjusting again. "I got shot in that nightmare you were scared of? Well, that would explain why you didn't want to let go of me when I opened the bedroom door," he said then shook his head. "I'm not gonna get shot. Don't worry about it so much, okay? We'll both be just fine. I promise."
The moment was too perfect right now. He felt like he was actually in a relationship right now, like the ones you saw on TV. There they were, lying in bed together and cuddling each other in the dark. She was worried, and he was comforting her, being her rock and making promises to keep her safe. He felt so warm inside, and everything just felt right. Well, everything except that nagging little voice in the back of his mind telling him not to get so attached. But for now, he ignored it and laid back down. However, he also moved down a bit so he could plant a soft kiss on her cheek and then rest his head next to hers while whispering, "Everything will be okay."

"But you could," Phallon pointed out. It was hard for her not to get swept away by the same emotions Shane was feeling. Things did feel right. Like after a month of getting to know each other, of testing the waters and playful flirting that was their banter, they finally took a step that had them closer, both literally and symbolically. She so badly wanted to believe that Shane was invincible, that he would be fine no matter what. That no matter what sort of trouble came their way, Shane would have a plan to make it all work out. But the woman was a realist. Even he couldn't solve every problem or win every fight. "You could've been shot yesterday. You could be shot today. I wouldn't be surprised if someone broke in now and killed you for no other reason than they felt like it. This town is crazy."
And then he planted a kiss on her cheek and laid his head next to hers. He did not give her heart an easy time, that's for sure. Phallon looked up into his blue eyes, or what she could see of them in the still dim lighting. She didn't want to lose him. Not by death, and not even by simply moving into different living spaces. It startled her how much she had come to depend upon the man, but at the same time, she was thankful he had been the one to find her in the alley way. Had it been anyone else, she might not even still be here. Her hand moved on its own accord. It went from resting around his side to where she could gently cup his cheek. "Just promise me you won't do anything stupid," she muttered. He might play hero willingly, but she didn't want him to die because of her.

A ripple of warmth flowed through him, from her hand when it landed gently on his cheek. He couldn't help but enjoy the feeling of her touching him like that, so softly and with real, genuine emotion. She obviously cared like he did. And yet, despite how good it made him feel, it was still so wrong. He'd still have to leave. Moments like this were amazing, and provided some much needed companionship that every human craved. However, if they got too attached to one and other, if they ever went so far as to date, he'd ahve to end it suddenly. Already he could picture Phallon's face when he had to eventually tell her he had to leave. He could picture her crying and so confused as to what she had done wrong. But she would have done nothing wrong, and he'd have no real explanation to give. And so, he frowned now. "I can't promise that."

"Of course, not," Phallon muttered and sighed softly. Why had she believed he would assure her that he wouldn't take unnecessary risks? He didn't seemed like the kind to go seeking for trouble, yet he was no stranger to it. How he was so comfortable killing someone was still a mystery to her, one that she was a little afraid to ask about. He's a criminal just like the rest of us, she thought. A criminal that hasn't been caught. Would he hate her if he knew the truth about her? Or would he laugh and not believe her? Did she want to risk it? Things were good right now, and despite the occasional mishap, they were safe and happy. She didn't want that to change.
"What can you promise?" the woman asked, wanting to know if he would be careful in any way. Until they got out of this town, danger would be surrounding them. But if they left town, what would happen? The fear of him leaving was growing stronger, even if their closeness right then and there led her to believe he wasn't going anywhere. If they leave town, she wouldn't be in as much danger. If she could convince him to head back to the town she was taken from, would he accompany her, or simple see her on her way? Yet if he promised her something, anything, then he would have to stick around to see that promise through, wouldn't he?

Shane stared at her for a moment, pursing his lips a bit as he thought about what to say here. He was a man to keep his word, so if he promised something he would definitely see it through to the best of his abilities. However, that meant there really weren't many things he could promise. He couldn't say things like he'd keep her safe for sure, because if she happened to do something bad herself then he'd have to deal with it accordingly. This was something that took him a few, silent moment s to think about before actually answering. "I can promise that I'll always do what's best." Yet, he didn't specify if it was what was best for her, his job, or others(if she so happened to go back to criminal ways and hurt somebody.) "And I can promise that I'll do my best not to die. And I'll be careful." being careful was especially easy since his paranoia was like second nature at this point.

Warmth flooded his body again, but this time in powerful waves instead of tiny ripples. Shane's heart began to beat faster as he looked into her eyes from such a close distance with their noses touching. He had had rushes of adrenaline many times before form various different circumstances, whether it was from killing or avoiding being killed. But never had his heart beat so much because he cared about a girl, and because they were so close. He knew for sure if he did what he wanted to do that he'd regret it later. And yet, if he didn't, he'd regret it for entirely different reasons. There was no safe option right now. So, it was do one thing or the other. Taking a moment to decide, he really knew he'd regret this. But he had to do it. He closed the gap and pressed his lips gently to hers.

The feeling of when she returned his affections couldn't be described in words. It was just so good feeling. He couldn't help tighten his grasp of her with the arm he had wrapped around her body to pull her just a little bit closer. After a few seconds, he pulled away enough to open his eyes again and look at her with his lips now forming a smile. That little voice in his voice telling him not to get too attached now screamed at the top of its imaginary lung, but he ignored it. This moment was just too perfect, and he wouldn't let anything ruin it. "You're so pretty. Ya know that?" he asked then quietly, just gazing at her with a dopey smile now.

As he pulled her closer, Phallon's hand reached up once more, this time to run through his shaggy hair. If she could have wrapped her other arm around him, she would have. Despite the worry of what would happen later on, the woman couldn't help but want this moment to last. Right now, there was no financial or housing problems. There were no concerns of anyone seeking to hurt them. No need to wonder if he liked her or was simply being polite. All she was aware of was him.
When Shane pulled away, Phallon had to fight back the small sound of disappointment that threatened to escape. That would have definitely been used against her at a later point in time. The sight of his smile was one that was new to her. The man truly looked happy. It made her own lips twitch upwards and her face flush. "You might have hinted at it before," she replied, referring back to his comment yesterday when he told her she would look good no matter if she was sweaty from their jog or not.

"I suppose so," Shane said quietly in response. All he could really do now was stare at her happily and fight off the urges. He had the desperate urge to just hold her and never let her go. After years of being without companionship, and what little he had being ripped away each time a job was done, he craved that dream. He craved the attention and the need to be touched, to be held, to be close to somebody he really cared about. Sure, he could ignore that screaming voice for the moment the kiss had lasted, but now it was back with a vengeance. And it only had the soul purpose to tell him to stop. As much as he so badly craved a relationship, he knew it was best to simply not further anything here. So, when he did have to leave soon, it wouldn't hurt quite as much.
The man sat up then, removing his arm from around her in the process. "I guess you're not going to be getting much more sleep, huh?" he asked quietly, that smile disappearing and now being replaced with a frown and a bothered look at the distant floor, by the wall. "I won't be either. Do you want some breakfast then?" Now, to distract himself from the want of her touch and attention, he would cook and do other work.

Sharing this kind of contact was something Phallon needed as well. She had lost so many people she had cared about, her father, mother, and grandparents. While only her father was the only one she knew for certain was dead, she had lost the closeness of her family that she had been raised with. Of course, she could have found someone to spend her days with. She actually did have a friend back in her old town, but even then she had lost him the day she was captured. Shane had become her best friend and maybe even more in such a short time. She was determined to keep him with her as best she could.
Then Shane was sat up, the perfect moment faded away. She noticed the change in his demeanor as clearly as his smile falling. "Uh, yeah, I guess breakfast would be good," she replied, more than a little confused about his wanting to be up and about. Was it the kiss? Surely not because he had kissed her this time. Pushing herself up into a sitting position, she watched Shane, trying to find some clue of what might be wrong.

"I'll make pancakes then," Shane decided and got up. He didn't fix the sheets on his side of the bed and instead just grabbed his knife from the nightstand and wlaked around the bed then out of the room. He turned the lights on since the time of the year provided less daylight, as it was early autumn at this point.
He tossed the knife on the couch then went to the small kitchen area where he began dragging out ingredients for pancakes form scratch, including flour and sugar and the eggs. Silently and with that thoughtful look in his eyes, he worked. It just wasn't' fair, though. Humans needed companionship to survive and thrive, and yet he was denied it all because of his job. However, this was a job one couldn't simply quit. No, it was the kind of job that once you were in it you stayed in until you either died or retired at a very old age. There was just no other choice really... So there was definitely no chance of him and Phallon ever actually being together, and that bothered him so much. For once, it easily showed in his hurried but purposeless movements and that look in his eyes with a frown right underneath. There was no happiness in him anymore, only sadness, disappointment, and regret.

Phallon got up after him. The air was slightly cooler inside, a sign of the changing weather. It wasn't cold, but after sharing warmth cuddled up net to Shane all night long, it brought on a sense of emptiness. She could still feel his arms around her, holding her protectively as he tried to reassure her that everything was fine. He had done his best to comfort her. Now, watching him as he worked in the kitchen, something was off. His movements were too rushed. His eyes held a troubled look. But most importantly, he didn't hum. Shane always hummed no matter what he was doing.
There might have been plenty of other ways to get his attention, but Phallon didn't seem to think of them. Instead, she walked over to the man and carefully wrapped her arms around his sides. Whether it was because she wasn't ready to just let their perfect morning be ruined so suddenly or because it was the only way he might stop and pay her any attention, she wasn't sure. "Shane," she said, tilting her head back so she could look at his face, "what's wrong?"

It felt as if his mind was being split into two as those titans started doing battle again. He wanted to stay with Phallon, but he couldn't for long. It really hurt himself inside, but yet he could do nothing about it except do what he always did when he got this way- push the feelings down and try to be strong. He had to be strong, for himself and for Phallon. He couldn't actually let her know what was going on. But even a highly trained and skilled man couldn't hide his true emotions.
When he suddenly felt arms around him, he stopped dead in whatever he was doing, which was currently pouring the flour into a bowl. Slowly, he put the bag of flour down on the counter and turned his head slightly to look at the woman's worried face. He didn't answer right away, just kind of stared at her with that troubled expression. He couldn't tell her the truth. He simply couldn't. So, instead, he shook his head. "Nothing that you can help with. You should just forget about it," he told her sadly, knowing she wouldn't take the lie that nothing was wrong, or any other lie. Honestly, his brain wasn't coming up with a reasonable one for once. This was the best he could do.
