(Welcome back Sky~ You didn't miss much the girls are just getting make overs, and talking amongst each other.) Claire watch Priscilla quite closely trying to study her for later us on acting like a lady. The way she stood, and held herself was much different from what Claire would normally do. A lady seemed to hold herself straight while Claire tended to slouch as it helped no get noticed. "That's a beautiful name!" She felt the need to compliment since back in her home land the girls who acted like this tended to act nice so Claire figured she should as well. "I am Claire Lafery." She gave out her name which was once again something she didn't like to do Claire was the kind of person to give fake names, though that wouldn't help in here. "So where do you come from, if you don't mind me asking?" She asked just curious, and feeling the need to make small talk.

[ Good to see you! ]
Priscilla smiled, but genuinely this time. She felt flattered. "Thank you." she said with a laugh. "And good to meet you." She looked at Claire curiously, before responding. "Did you hear about that mine collapse, the one that made national headlines? I live a couple dozen miles east of there." Priscilla wasn't sure whether she was supposed to give an exact town as her answer. She didn't even live in one, so she wasn't completely sure of that particular etiquette. "And you?"

Claire nodded for a bit thinking of what she should say for her own answer. She had a home sure, but it wasn't like she lived there her parents didn't really like harboring a criminal like her in their house. "I live in the coast." She decided to say it was true enough her parent's home was there, and she stuck around that area so it was a good enough answer. She looked around the room not sure really what to talk about. "So.... you ready to meet the prince?" She asked deciding that would be a good subject to talk about since that was the next part of this whole event.

(Alright You too! I'm just going to throw Patience in here if you don't mind...) Patience was listening to the conversation politely, then nodded as Priscilla brought up the mine collapse. "It was terrible." Her hands toyed with the end of her braid. "Apparently a lot of people died." Realizing that talking about the collapse would do nothing but bring down the mood, the Selected girl quickly changed the subject by looking at Claire once Priscilla asked where she lived. Once the girl answered and changed the subject she smiled. "I think so. I'm nervous to be honest."

Priscilla nodded at Patience, before addressing Claire. "I guess so." she said. She mock-twirled with a chuckle. "That's what these fancy gowns and jewels are for the pure purpose of impressing him, after all. It's what we're here to do." She smiled at Patience. "I think we're all nervous." Priscilla knew she wasn't the most attractive girl here . . . but she was still determined to win.

Patience nodded, a polite smile on her face. "I mean, this guy could be one of our future husbands." She jumped slightly as a maid gently took one of her hands and began to file the nails, and she watched for a moment before turning back to Claire and Priscilla. "Do you know when we meet him?"

Astrid had been making a slow circle or two around the room this whole time. She glanced at a sleek black phone in her hand, then pocketed it and called again for everyone's attention. "Ladies! Only ten more minutes! Finish up your makeovers, take one last look at the accesories, and then please form a line at the door. You'll each get a few moments to meet privately with the prince before being escorted to supper. ...Do not eat anything until the royal family has been seated and served," she added.

Patience heard Astrid and looked at her two new... friends? Acquaintances? She wasn't sure what to call them but she stood as her maid gently began to lead her away. Patience waved in farewell and followed to have the finishing touch-ups. She was put into a black, half sleeveless dress that reached the floor, but not long enough to drag as she walked, and held small floral designs out of silver/white jewels from her torso and up. As she had talked to the other Selected, her hair had been taken out of the French braid, despite her protests, and had been mangled down into a half up, half-down, with a braid in the upper half, and a small silver flower placed to hide the hair tie. Her nails had been freshly manicured, with a french tip, and her makeup was light with a simple wing and mascara, along with lighter lipstick. Once her maid decided she looked good enough, Patience returned to wait where the other Selected were.

Screen Name: ʲᶤᵍˢᵃʷˢ ◦ Character Name: Contessa Grey (Tes, Tessa for short.) Age: 18 ( Feb 1st ) Occupation (maid, guard, etc.; not required for Selected) : Selected Description: Tessa is average in height and weight, she stands at 5'4 and weighs 115 pounds. Her hair is raven-black and immensely curly, though, she hates her natural messy curls and often wears it straightened. When its in its naturally curly state, it falls just an inch or two past her shoulders, but when its straightened, it falls just barely below her breasts. Her eyes are a pale grey-green, or "the color of frosted jade" her mother used to say. Her skin is a warm light cream color, just barely sunkissed. Her lips are full and a pale pink color, and are shaped in an eternal, slight pout. Her nose is small and straight, and her jawline is sharp, while her cheekbones are high and just a little sharp. Her eyes are large and round, and are framed by naturally thick and long dark lashes. She rarely wears makeup, if ever, and is prone to leaving her hair straightened and messy, or in a messy half up, half down hair-do. Personality: Tessa is a complex soul, on first meeting her, one would describe her as charming, intelligent, and witty. She has a warm but somewhat reserved vibe about her, and though her social skills are very good, and she does value friendships very much, she also likes to be alone or hide part of herself. She has a unique set of morals and values, a personal system of how she lives, and she would do anything to uphold her personal value system. She values justice and fairness, and has a very small mercy streak. She believes crying or showing or expressing emotions is a weakness, so at times she can come off as a little cold or insensitve to others, or hard to connect with. She enjoys the abstract, and the arts, and loves to learn new things, and is very curious. Tessa is also prone to being a natural leader, and a bit arrogant or narcisitic at times. She is blunt and believes honesty is the best policy, and only in very rare and few cases, lying is okay. She is great at manipulating but rarely does it, since it conflicts with her views of fairness and right and wrong. She sees everything in shades of grey, nothing is black or white to her, or set in stone. Other: Unlike a lot of the other Selected, she was not born in an incredibly wealthy family. Her family was barely upper middle class. But they were still very well-off compared to the average citizen. She also has no interest in the prince or winning. Password: Lamb

Contessa had been listening to the other three girls talking amongst themselves, cringing inwardly at the mention of the mine collapse, but she quickly pushed the thought of that tragedy from her mind. This was the first time they had all met, they were all in some Palace salon getting all glamorized to meet the Prince and The Royal Family. Tessa guessed she should probably be excited or thrilled but she wasn't, she currently just wanted this lady who was doing her hair to...knock! it! off! Seriously! She was hurting her, raking her nails through Tessa's unstraightened, natural hair into an up-do. She was sure this was some form of torture, and should be positively illegal. Another lady was applying bright red lipstick to her lips, Contessa had insisted on no makeup, while the two maids had insisted she must have something on her face. So she compromised with them, and the end result was a dramatic red lip that looked marvelous with her green eyes and black hair, as well as some light contouring and highlighting on her cheeks. Her nails had been painted red as well, and a third maid was busy off to the side trying to figure out what gown she was to wear for the dinner. The maids that were tending to her were going for a modern greek style for her hair and dress it seemed. It went with her natural looks and vibe so it was only natural this theme and style had been chosen for her. Everything was gold, red and white, that they were adorning her with.

(Sorry, Jigs!)
Astrid paused by Tessa's station and clicked we rogue. "Aren't you ready yet? We only have a few more minutes. You need to get dressed!" She motioned to the privacy screens that had been set up in a corner of the large room where all the girls' makeovers were being done.

"Yes! Sorry!" Contessa murmured sullenly as she quickly stood up, and made her way to the privacy screens where the third maid was waiting with her dress, to help her put it on so she didn't ruin her hair or makeup. The dress was a pretty off white, inspired by traditional Greek gowns, with a more modernized design. It had gold embellishments and a swooping neckline, and was backless. She quickly put on her shoes, pale gold gladiator sandals that went up to her knees and could be seen peaking out of the slits on each side of her dress. As soon as she was finished, she stepped out from behind the private screens and was guided to a mirror to take one last look and make sure everything was in place. She was wearing golden hoop earrings, and had a golden snake cuff with rubies for the eyes, to match her lips and nails. Her hair was in a half-up do, her thick black girls pulled back and up, and cascading down her back, with a golden laurel hairpiece holding the curls in place, with a few strands framing her face. Sighing she turned towards Astrid and glanced around to see if the other girls were ready, and what they were wearing for the evening.
(its okay!)

Patience was waiting nervously by the seats for the other girls to finish getting ready. As Contessa made her way over Patience gave a polite smile, not suer if she should say hi, if this girl was nice or not... Moving a stubborn strand of hair out of her eyes, Patience shifted in her seat, not used to wearing dresses... Her black dress was skin tight until about the hips, where it flowed down in a skirt-like way, with only one sleeve coming up to her wrist and the other nonexistent.

Priscilla waited by the door, fidgeting in a way a lady never should. She couldn't seem to calm her nerves. She bit her cherry-red lip, and forced herself to steady her breaths. Don't freak! she told herself sternly. You are going to meet a prince—THE prince. You must act dignified and proud. Priscilla was able to straighten her shoulders and stand up taller. She fanned her pale face in a gesture of agitation. Priscilla had to lift up her silver-and-blue dress to walk; it was very poofy and fanned out at her heels. She made her way to the door, careful not to hold her skirt above her ankles. Priscilla had attended fancy parties, of course, but she'd never been in such a formal situation. She was excited and nervous. Mostly, she hoped she'd be able to fall in love with the prince. She smoothed out her sleeves; they were see-through silk, starting well below her shoulders. Priscilla normally wouldn't have wanted to be the center of a romance, but this was the chance of a lifetime! Priscilla couldn't just give it up. No, Priscilla knew she'd fight for her chance. For better or worse, her determination was absolute.

Contessa glanced at Patience and returned the girls smile. She supposed she should've been more social, but she really wasn't interested in any of this, and she didn't see the point in making close friends with these girls. They were all going to backstab each other anyways to win, she mentally reprimanded herself for being so cynical and negative. She knew she should make an effort to be somewhat friendly, looking over at Patience again, she smiled a second time, "I love your dress, I'm Contessa by the way, but you can call me Tessa." She side-eyed over to look a Priscilla, she was definitely a blue blood, an aristocrat, one could tell by her pretty angular face. She smiled at her advice well, but didn't say anything as she waited for Patience to answer her.

"Aw, thank you. I love yours too; you look like a Godess!" Patience stood up and extended her hand in hello. "I'm Patience." She looked this girl over; seemed simple enough. She was pretty, and looked kind... Guess we'll have to wait and see. Glancing over and seeing that Priscilla was the only one left, Patience waved her over. "This is Priscilla... Are you ready to meet the Prince?" She smiled.

(Two new people in one day! That's exciting g! Haha, and two gourmets called "Peppermint." What are the odds? Essence--could I call ya Essie?--you are certainly welcome to play whatever kind of character you like! But we are a little low on Selected girls right now! Blossom, you are approved. I will add Ellie and Contessa to the front page soon. The forums are always super glitchy on my computer and it's really frustrating, and it's hard to edit front pages on a phone, but I will get to it sooner or later!)
(Sorry I haven't been on more often, ladies. I am acquiring the beginnings of a social life and it's time-consuming! Lol. So what we're going to do now is meetings with the prince! Since I don't like to keep people waiting, I'm just going to rp Prince Augustus with everybody at once, but we'll just pretend he's meeting the girls one at a time. Does that make sense? Here'a a post to get us started!)
When all the girls were more or less in an orderly line, Astrid strode to the front of a room with a smile. "This is it, ladies! In the hall behind these doors waits Crown Prince Augustus of Illea. I will dismiss you one at a time. You will curtsy and greet the prince as Your Highness. Beyond that--well, the advice is well-worn, but it applies even here: be yourself." She smiled warmly, but a mere second later the expression changed to slight worry. "Your self on her best behavior, of course," she amended. And with that somewhat less-than-inspiring speech, she started dismissing the girls one by one.
.......
Prince Augustus stood on the other side of the door, trying to figure out whether he was nervous or not. He didn't really feel nervous, but the General lack of nerves mad enough him nervous, because he felt like he ought to be nervous, and so did that mean he was nervous or was he simply...? Ugh, forget it, it doesn't matter, he thought in exasperation. He tugged once more on the lapels of his jet black suit, more as a way to gain a semblance of normalcy than to straighten it, and straightened his already perfect posture. His mother had advised him to wear a softer color, but the black suits were his favorite, and if the girls would be trying to look their best, shouldn't he as well? It was accented with a white shirt and a silvery blue tie that highlighted his eyes. He hadn't worn a crown--the royal family actually wore the crowns less than people seemed to think, because for heaven's sake they were heavy--and combed his dark brown hair as best he could. It was beginning to curl at the ends but wasn't quite long enough yet to warrant a haircut. He pulled in a breath as the door opened.
