Soon after, Patience's maid made another appearance at the door, saying that she was ready to take her to the makeover. Apparently all the girls were going to be there... For some reason, Patience felt nervous, but she pushed the feeling away and followed her maid out the door, spotting another girl down the hall. Her maid seemed to speed up until she was walking by the other girls' maid and began to chatter excitedly. They must all be friends. Patience thought, glancing over at the other Selected girl. "Hi. I'm Patience." She said with a smile.

Priscilla glanced at the other girl, slightly startled, but she didn't dare show it. "Good to meet you, Patience," she greeted her, extending her hand in greeting. "I'm Priscilla. Priscilla Glace, to be specific." She tried for an offhand laugh, all while mentally assessing Patience. She seems like a strong girl, at least judging by her physique . . . Priscilla had to look up to her to make eye contact. And that's admirable. But it could also be a red flag. Priscilla faced forward, keeping up with the two maids. "I hear we're getting a makeover." she commented. "I wonder what that'll be like." It was true; Priscilla was dying to know the details.

Patience took Priscilla's hand with a smile, glad to see that she this girl was polite. I was worried they would all be snobs... "Me too." Patience commented as they walked, releasing the handshake and not being able to help but glance around at the walls that loomed over them, so beautiful and strange all at the same time. "Maybe they'll just like... do our nails or something. I dunno." Patience shrugged, taking in Priscilla's appearance with a quick glance. She didn't seem to be any more dressed up or dressed down than what Patience was wearing, which was a relief to this girl. Her eyes seemed sharp and calculating, and her hair was long... Don't judge until you know her. The Selected girl thought to herself.

Priscilla smiled at Patience. "I think they'll be doing more than that," she commented lightly. "At least, judging by what I've heard." She shrugged. "I could be wrong, though. I don't know the details. Obviously." What Priscilla had been told was that they'd be receiving formal wardrobes and receiving makeovers. She'd heard that some girls would be making drastic changes, such as dyeing their hair a different color. She wasn't sure if that was true, or just rumors. If it ended up being true, Priscilla hoped there wouldn't be any dramatic alterations involved. The maids turned a corner, and Priscilla followed, her feet brushing the palace floor. This hallway was just as stunning as the last, and she took in the view silently.

(Sounds good, Holly! ) "Obviously." Patience said with a small, teasing smile. Telling herself that she probably should've read the information booklets that they were provided with not the way here, she just took in the hallway. She had skipped over the makeover part, more interested the palace activities and what her room would be like, to see if there was anywhere to stay active, or if she was just expected to sit in a pretty dress all day. "I wonder what Prince Augustus is like." She tested, wanting to see this girl's views on the man that she was fighting to marry... if it was for her or for her father, she still wasn't sure.

[ Sure! c: ]
"From what I've gathered from watching TV, he seems like an . . . interesting guy." Priscilla said, taking a moment to find the right adjective. "Definitely a man of honor, and definitely notoriously stubborn," She laughed a little. "Which will make this whole competition very interesting." Priscilla cast a sly look at Patience, before asking, "What do you think of him?" Priscilla definitely found Prince Augustus handsome, but she wasn't exactly in love with him. Not yet, at least.

Astrid Holliday stood in the center of the room where the girls' makeovers would be done. Astrid had been working in the palace for nearly a decade now, holding different jobs relating to public affairs and relations. She had been selected--no pun intended--to be the girls' instructor and overall caretaker while they were in the palace. It was her job to teach them their lessons, keep them in line if necessary, answer their questions, be a resource.
She was currently trying to hide her excitement. She smoothed her already-smooth brown hair back and patted the bun on the back of her head, and smiled at the girls as they trickled uncertainly through the doorway. One corner of the room was crowded with dress racks that were filled with light gowns and dresses of various sizes and styles that should fit the girls or be easily and quickly modifiable. There were two walls lined with stations set up to polish off the girls' hair, makeup, nails, etc. A stylist stood by each of the stations, while a few others waited by the clothing racks armed with pins, needles, and threads. Beside the clothing rack stood at least half a dozen displays and tables of jewelry of all kinds--necklaces, bracelets, headbands, gold, silver, diamond, pearl. There were no consultants by this station.
When the last stragglers had made an appearance, Astrid clapped her hands together to get everyone's attention. She waited for their gaze to turn from the room to her. "Ladies! On behalf of the royal family and myself, I would like to welcome you to the palace! My name is Astrid Holliday, and I will be your instructor and guide while you are here. I look forward to getting to know each of you. But for now, we have more exciting things to worry about. Makeovers! Everyone find a seat! Once you are happy with your look--on which you will have plenty of expert advice," she said with a nod toward the stylists, "make your way to the clothes and jewels. One final note: whatever jewels you choose from these tables to wear tonight will be yours to keep! Prince Augustus has specifically requested that you ladies choose whatever you like. Remember, you will meet the prince tonight! Let's all put our best foot forward, shall we?!" She clapped her hands again to get everybody moving.

Once Priscilla arrived at the makeover room, she listened intently to what Astrid said, not wanting to miss a word. The Selectees were soon moving, getting ready for their makeovers. Priscilla was swept up in the confusion for a moment, before internally shaking herself and snapping to attention. Priscilla allowed herself to be led over towards the section dedicated to that, and prepared to ready herself for meeting the prince. Priscilla could hardly wait.

Claire had been kinda of late to the party having decided to stay in her room for a while instead of wondering. She didn't care to get in trouble if she knocked something over, so instead the young lady had chosen to reside in her room silently. She also wasn't fond of pretending she was all lady like as she really wasn't that was one of the reason she felt like her being selected was a flaw. Her parents weren't rich, her father not influential she had lived the life of a thief prior to this. A very good one as no one not even her parents suspected her of being such a thing. So to put away her past, and play lady was something she had to get in the mood to do. Sighing as she heard a knock on the door she opened it a guard awaiting her. "Best get going." The blonde guard simply said to her before moving along with his duties.
'Come on Claire you can be a lady.' She thought to herself watching the guard walk away, she didn't care about marrying some prince. However she did care about not losing so she was planning to try her very best in this little contest thing. Taking the guards word to consideration she found her way to where the other girls stood standing nearby. She had made it in just enough time as some woman who introduced herself as Astrid had just arrived mere moments after Claire. Following Astrid's words she found a empty seat listening to the woman speak in silence as she stared at the clothing and other girly thing laid about the room.
'Oh man....' She thought to herself staring at the dresses the most girly thing Claire had ever done in her life was let her hair flow down, and she only did that three times as she hated her hair like that. Now makeup, and dresses where a thing she had to think about for this contest. 'No, no I can do this.' She shook her head silently she refused to let any type of contest get the better of her. She was Claire Lafery the sly fox of her hometown. She would do her very best to attempt to win this contest though she had her doubts on how well she would end up doing.

A blond woman with green eyes and a plain shirt tucked into unobtrusive black pants stepped up to greet Priscilla. "Miss," she greeted with a respectful nod. "Before I begin, is there anything in particular you'd like? Any particular look?"
Astrid watched the flurry of activity for a moment, then stepped over to a shorter girl who was just standing staring at it all. "Miss? Are you all right? It's a lot to take in, isn't it?"

Claire almost jumped out of her skin when Astrid spoke to her directly even letting out a small yelp sound as he looked at the woman her face showing pure embarrassment for what she just did. She was used to being in the shadows, as in no one really talked to her. Though she would have to get used to it during this little contest. Her eyes went back to the dresses for a moment before she thought of what to say. "Uh, yea I'm not used to wearing this kind of stuff...." She admitted not sure if that was a smart idea, but maybe if she took this woman's advice she wouldn't look like a complete fool.

Astrid let out a small laugh and patted the girl's shoulder. "I didn't mean to scare you," she apologized, pulling her hand away. She smiled. "Not many people are, but it's part of the experience! Enjoy it," she advised. "Now, let's get you to your station, come on!" She steered Claire toward the only open station. "This is only the first step on your journey becoming a princess."

"Oh, it's fine I scare easy...." Claire commented, well more mumbled in response to the woman saying sorry. She then nodded at this point her mind going back to a thoughtful mode as she was lead to the open station by the woman. "I'll try." She stated to the enjoy it comment she wasn't used to being 'girly' she always just wore what she had never caring much what people thought of her appearance wise. However now she had to worry about her appearance if she wanted to win, which she did simply because of her obsession with winning. "I hope I'm better at the other steps." She mumbled again this would be something she'd need to work on for she figured when talking to the prince she shouldn't mumble. "So, um is there even a chance to make me near as gi-... beautiful at the other girls?" She asked looking in the mirror at herself.

Priscilla smiled sweetly. She didn't really know what she wanted; she just didn't want to become unrecognizable. After a moment, she responded with, "Just polish me up, will you? Yes, I'd like that." This is all very exciting.

Astrid tsked. "Of course there is, dear!" She saw this as her opportunity to build up one fo the girls, and she took it gladly, if a little too eagerly. She put her hand on Claire's shoulder again and tilted her chin up, hoping Claire would follow suit. "Remember, confidence is attractive as any pretty face. Now sit and have fun!" She whirled away.
The stylist nodded to Priscilla and pulled a pair of tweezers to start cleaning up Priscilla's eyebrows. Twenty minutes later, Claire's skin was glowing, her hair was soft, combed, and free of knots, her lashes were dark and curling, and her fingernails were perfectly filed. The woman stepped back. "If you'd like to pick out a dress now, my lady, we can finish your makeup later," she said, gesturing toward the clothes and jewels in the corner. The girls were free to choose from an assortment of styles, cuts, and colors, though they were all either sweeping or nearly touching the floor in the style of evening gowns, since they would be first meeting the prince, well, in the evening.

Claire simply let things happen as she returned her thoughts to her own. She tended to do this a lot when around people just going with the flow while her mind analyzed what to do next. Then came the time to pick the dress, another hard part though after thinking about it acting a lady would prove harder than dressing like one. She was used to just wearing whatever that was black she had nearby. Needless to say that was never a dress, normally it was a pair of tight black pants, and a black shirt that would help her blend into the darkness. Though blending into the darkness wasn't the goal for this little game, no she had to be a lady. Her eyes went to her shoulder where her platinum blonde hair was, something she always cursed having always wanted raven black hair. However playing a lady meant she had to drop all things she thought she was as a master thief, a master game maker. So walking right past a black dress she found a pure white one figuring that would be the best match for her almost white, but blonde hair color.

Priscilla touched her soft, unnaturally smooth, beautiful skin. It didn't feel like her own. It felt improved. She rushed into the dressing area, stunned by the gorgeous options. She selected a gown with silver crystals dappling the heart-shaped design. The stones gradually faded as one worked their way down the dress, until it was a deep, pure royal blue. Yes, perfect. Priscilla thought. It reminded her of a starry night sky. She tried it on. To her delight, it nearly perfectly. It worked well with her hairdo, which was a sort of bun, with strategically placed curls dangling from it. Don't lose sight of your target, Priscilla warned herself. It's all too easy to get swept up into the whirlwind of glamor and jewels, but I must remember; I'm here for the heart of Prince Augustus. To vie for the royal crown. That is all.

(Poor August and all these girls who just want to win him for the sake of winning! Lol!)
A palace seamstress moved among the girls doing tiny alterations when necessary on the dresses they had chosen. The room was soon ablaze with color and sparkle as the girls twirled about in their new gowns and jewels, reveling in their new and improved appearances. Someone cracked a window open though, to air out the smell of dye one girl had opted to use to highlight her hair a bit. It looked lovely, but the smell was pervasive, so the window was necessary. The cool night breeze was welcome as well.
(Sorry it isn't much, ladies. I don't want to get too far ahead without Skyshadow tonight, if we can help it. Perhaps you'd like Priscilla and Claire to meet?)

[ Okay! ]
Priscilla then picked up a rhinestone necklace. It sparkled and dazzled in the light as she held it out. The necklace felt as if it were made of diamond. For all she knew, it could've been one hundred percent genuine. Priscilla draped it over her head, letting it settle around her neck. She examined herself in the mirror; she looked like a different person. Like a princess. Priscilla was pleased to see that her skin was soft and smooth, her eyebrows were plucked to perfection, and the makeup she wore brought out her already sharp blue eyes. The dress also didn't hurt; quite the contrary. Priscilla went back to the center of the room, to study the other girls. Some looked like they could easily be snobs, while overs looked like friendship material (for better or worse), and still others just looked meh. All were beautiful.

Claire stood calmly by herself for a moment she was dressed in her white dress her platinum blonde hair flowed down instead of being stuck in a ponytail which she was still getting used since she wasn't one to normally have this hairstyle. She had picked a sapphire necklace not really caring what she picked for it was just a stone, if she lost she'd probably sell it if she was honest with herself. Her eyes soon went to the other girls as she figured at this point it was just waiting, and so now would be the best time for her to practice playing the part of a lady. She knew how to spot the kinds of people who would just laugh at her attempt, and the ones who might talk back to her. She found one of the girls in the center, and she found her way over to her. She didn't know the girl's name, in fact know that she thought of it she didn't really know anyone elses name which was weird for her. Once walking over to the girl she stopped right as she was about to say something realizing just saying 'Hello, or Yo' wouldn't be very ladylike. "Good *enter time of day* to you." He decided to go with that hoping she didn't make a fool of herself.

Priscilla turned around at the sound of a girl's voice. The way she was addressing her . . . She's being very polite, Priscilla noted. Is she always like that, practicing, or is it a ploy? I mean, there are so many snobs here, so who knows? Priscilla internally shook herself. Was she being paranoid? Probably not. Still . . . She smiled without showing her teeth, and dipped her head in a passive-agressive gesture of politeness. "Good day to you, miss." Priscilla fixed her already-rigid posture, and inclined her head. "My name is Priscilla Glace. What's yours?" She held out her hand, and fixed her necklace with the other.
