"Fair enough." Elwrin replied. "I guess it's my turn to ask a question." He adjusted his sitting position to get more comfortable. "Whom do you consider your most trusted friend or ally? I'd say my dragon, Logondi, but that may just be because we are mentally bonded as rider and dragon."

"My most trusted friend? It would have to be Alexia, she's been there for me since I joined the guild and we're really close." Echo mused after a moment of thinking. She was one of the mages in his team and they were practically like brother and sister. -- Lillian listened as both of them spoke before it came to her. "My demon, Azurine. It may be odd seeing as she wants to possess me, but she's a reliable ally and she'd not going to be leaving anytime soon." She said before taking a moment to think of what she would ask. "If your ally were captured by the enemy, would you kill your ally or let them face torture while trying to rescue them?" She asked finally. "I would kill my ally." It was what she was trained to do, sometimes, they even had a pill in their mouths when they went to battle so if they were caught they could easily kill themselves. It was a way to keep them from being tortured and from giving the enemy anything they could use against their comrades.

"I'd have to let them go." Elwrin stated. "Logondi and I, as I said before, are bonded mentally. If the occasion arose, I could share his pain to stop him from giving away any information, plus he wouldn't have to endure the entirety of the torture. It would be difficult for them to capture Logondi, though. He's taller than a lot of those buildings in that town, so unless they were able to break into his mind, which would be severely difficult, it would be nearly impossible to subdue him to the point where you could transport him anywhere secure enough to torture him."

"But what if it wasn't Logondi? Anyone you trust, would you still let them suffer?" Lillian knew she shouldn't press, but the words came out anyway. She didn't know why she wanted to know, but she guessed she was just surprised that he had a different opinion, though she knew different people had different thoughts.

"I don't think I'd be comfortable killing anyone I know and trust." Elwrin replied honestly. "They are the people I've grown up with, trained with, fought alongside, I don't think I'd be able to willingly end their life. I think that people are nothing without allies to back them up, and if you are okay with killing your companions, then who would be willing to ride into battle with you?"

Lillian nodded, listening. He made a good point, but she still thought it would be less painful if their comrades didn't have to suffer. After all, vampires would end up killing their hostages or livestock eventually. She turned to see what Echo would answer. "I think you should do everything in your power to save your friends if they're taken. That's what I would do, even if no one went with me to save them. I'm not very strong, but I don't think I'd be able to live with myself if I killed them." He pointed out. Lillian sighed and for the first time, she noticed how dark it was. They'd only got a few hours of sleep the night before since they were attacked in the subway tunnel, fled to the forest and spent the rest of what was left of the night trying to sleep, than they ran to the clearing, had a mock battle, split up and had gotten into a fight with Warnick. It definitely was an eventful day, it was no wonder she was jumpy.

"You should learn to watch your tongue. Livestock have no right talking to a progenitor that way, though, I'll answer your question. It's rather obvious that we're no longer in our own world and the way back is unclear. That's about it." Shawn spoke, though his voice was more calm than it was hostile. "Livestock? Don't make me laugh," Ari said, one corner of his mouth curling slightly upward. "Judging by your answer to my question you do not yet know of a way back. I suppose I'll have to find my own way, then," he said with a sigh. He then frowned again, just as quickly as his smirk had started. "It's unfortunate, I doubt the assassination will go as planned without me there," he murmured, mostly to himself. ~~~ Back in the forest: "I know, I know, my uniform is quite flattering," Mitsuo said to Nerade, a smug grin across his face. "That aside, I felt the presence of other people up ahead. I hate to interrupt you having fun with these plants, but I could help lead you to 'em," he offered. "Are you some kind of wizard?" Nerade asked, confused about his comments. However, if they ran into others then it would help the situation. She sighed. "Fine, lead the way," she said. "But don't get used to this! And I don't cut plants for fun!" she yelled as Mitsuo led the way to the others.

Elwrin let out a massive yawn, his eyes watering as he did so. "It's getting pretty late." He said, standing up. "We should probably attempt to rest so we aren't all exhausted tomorrow." He stretched his back, hearing it pop multiple times. "Don't worry about setting up a watch schedule. As a rider, I can rest while being completely conscious of the events around me. I'll alert you both if something unexpected happens."

"Thanks," Lillian yawned. She played down on the leaf-strewn floor and closed her eyes, allowing her to drift into sleep.
She wanted to scream and cry, being crouched there, but Lillian couldn't form any words or sounds. She just watched as the vampire sunk his teeth into Aucx's caramel neck and the blood dripped down, the deep red liquid visible from where she was. Her eyes moved off of him and to the vampire. His belonged ears protruded out from his messy black hair and the vampire held himself with such arrogance and pride. She felt all of her hurt being slowly replaced by the hate she'd felt many times. It was horrible, knowing she could do nothing to save her 'brother'. She though she was crying, but when she felt her face it was dry. She saw a glimmer of satisfaction go through the vampire's lifeless eyes and she wondered if he knew she was there, crouched, hidden behind her fort of paper towels. -- "You underestimate me, human. That's a dangerous thing to do." Shawn warned, commenting on Ari's livestock statement. "As for this assassination, do tell." Ari was beginning to bore him now and he didn't want to waste time on an aimless fight unless Ari was the one to take the first blow.

"I highly doubt that. My father was the one who underestimated, I have since learned from his mistake," Ari snapped, that was a bit of a touchy subject with him. "As for the assassination, I'm afraid most of it is classified." He paused, considering for a moment that this man wasn't from his own world... so the details of the assassination being released here really wouldn't put him in much danger. Also, he never missed a chance to brag about himself. He was a bit hypocritical like that, he enjoyed being arrogant but if others came across that way it annoyed him to no end. "I was tasked with taking out the leader of a kingdom back in my world. My underlings are nowhere near trained for such a mission, it certainly has failed by now."
Sorry that took so long >_<]]

"Sounds boring. Both your assassination and your father." Shawn sighed before shrugging as he spoke again. "Well, it can't be helped. I was expecting to much entertainment out of you." He took a few steps, but his deep, red eyes never left Ari.

Before Elwrin rested, he decided to contact Logondi once more. Since he had already broken the mental barrier before, he was able to contact the dragon unopposed.
Logondi.
Elwrin? What is it?
I just felt like talking to you.
Is everything okay wherever you are?
Yes. For now, anyways. We've seen no signs of Warnick since I last contacted you.
I wish I could say we fare as well as you do at the moment.
Why? What happened?
The rebels have taken Gil'ead. They now control the entirety of the northern territory and they show no signs of stopping. The Varden has taken heavy casualties, and so have the elves. They've refused to fight the rebels since Arya was killed.
What of the Dwarves?
King Orik sent a mighty force, but they arrived too late. They've set up camp near Gil'ead, waiting for the Varden to rally their troops. The riders are planning to lead the charge, but they too have suffered multiple casualties. Firnen was killed in Gil'ead after Arya died, and a few lower ranking riders and dragons were killed as well.
I only hope I can get back soon.
As do I.
I will speak with you again soon. For now, I need to get some rest.
Good night.
Good night.
With that, Elwrin broke off connection and settled down, going into a restful trance-like state.

Ari glared at the vampire. "My father was not a boring man," he snapped, jabbing a finger toward Shawn. The dust swirled at his feet once more as his emotions rose. "He not only controlled the largest and most feared criminal organization in the world, but he kept his involvement a complete secret from the World Government while being one of its highest ranking members." He exhaled and calmed himself, dropping his hand to straighten out his coat. "I will agree with you on part of that, however, the assassinations do get quite boring. Especially when all of your targets die with a single touch."
~~~
"I thought you said the people were close by," Nerade said, marching through the undergrowth behind Mitsuo. She still held her sword out, just in case something dangerous came by. "We have been walking for ages." "They are! Trust me! And they haven't moved either," Mitsuo said, turning back to offer Nerade what he thought was a convincing grin. "And you can put that sword away, there's nothing dangerous around here. I think."
Shawn shrugged, this really was dull. "You know, talk is cheap. I really doubt you're as strong as you say." He provoked. Really, Ari could at least provide him with some entertainment, though Ari's anger a moment before had been slightly interesting. -- She watched as Aucx turned his head to look at her, blood and fangs still at his neck. "How many more years do I have to wait?" He asked, his normally calm voice cracking near the center and se saw his eyes glaze over with disappointment and anger. "I-I'm sorry." She whispered, voice guilty and apologetic. "If you were, then you would have killed him already." Aucx said pointedly.
Lilian blinked open her eyes to find it was still night, but she continued to lay there. Of corse it had been Azurite taking control of his body, It was his voice, but not any words Aucx would have spoken. She knew her demon wasn't trying to possess her, that much was clear. She sighed and sat up. What was that all about? Despite the contents of the dream, she felt much better now that she'd gotten some rest. She looked over at Elwrin, he seemed to be awake still. She then cast her gaze to Echo, at least one of them was having a peaceful sleep.
Sorry I haven't been on all day! I was writing a paper x_x]]
Ari raised an eyebrow, his anger mostly faded. "What? You want proof?" he asked, now cracking a wide smirk. His chin was tilted just upward, adding to his overall smugness as he spoke to the vampire. His eyes searched his immediate area, he needed something living and doubted the vampire would offer himself as a test subject judging by how he regarded himself. Ari finally spotted a weed growing between the cracks in the pavement under their feet and reached down to pick it. "Watch closely." When he held up the plant between his two fingers it was all bright and green, but then it slowly turned brown and turned to dust that blew away in the wind. He then held the hand out to show nothing was left and returned his gaze to Shawn to see how the vampire would react.
~~~
Nerade was still trudging behind Mitsuo, but was now angrily staring at the man's back. "How can I be sure you're not leading me to my doom?" she asked, poking him in the back with the sheath of her sword. "You really ask a lot of questions... and who says doom anymore?" Mitsuo murmured. "Look, as fun as that sounds, I'm as lost and confused as you are about this situation. Well, slightly less lost because I know where other people are, but still, you get the idea. And we're getting closer, by the way. They're just a few more trees ahead of us."

Post by _Shinx_ on Feb 21, 2017 21:45:10 GMT -5
Shawn watched with slight curiosity as Ari looked around for something. Finally, the man found a weed and it shriveled to dust in his hand. It was a similar to how a vampire turned to ash if they were killed, though, without a cursed hear, it was practically impossible, though he doubted he would be able to recover easily from that. His healing properties were good, but he doubt he'd be able to function much less fight for a few days if he were to be effectively attacked with that. "Quite impressive, you have good reason to be cocky. Now tell me, are you a demon?" Shawn asked. It was far beyond human capabilities to create a way to do what Ari had just done and the man had mentioned that his body lacked blood.

A flash of movement in Elwrin's peripheral vision signaled the awake of Lillian. Elwrin stood up and stretched, his back popping multiple times. He nodded to Lillian and said, "I'm going out for a little bit. I shouldn't be gone too long, I'm just going to try to sing a decent bow out of a tree."

Ari chuckled. "Many have called me a demon over the years... Though I now possess the power of the devil, I'm afraid I am still a human," he said. He paused for a moment and tapped a finger against his chin. "Well, I suppose you could say I'm a step above a human now," he added, a crooked grin across his face.
~~~
"It's been 'a few trees'," Nerade muttered. She sped up her pace and pushed herself in front of Mitsuo, deciding to lead her own way through the forest. She was used to them enough, the only thing different about this from the ones at home so far was the lack of talking trees and giant spiders.
"Alright, I'll watch over our stuff and Echo." Lillian said, moving to sit against the trunk of the nearest tree. She fiddled with her backpack she had dragged over with her and pulled out one of the protein bars. Breaking the seal, she bit into the sweet, sticky and salty bar. The taste of food made her realize that she was hungry and soon all that was left of the protein bar was the wrapper. She wiped her mouth and her thoughts drifted back to her dream. Maybe it was a good refresher; she had to admit, her goal was slipping a bit. She would find that vampire and kill it for what he did. Her hands balled into gusts and she looked over at Echo, refocusing on what she was currently doing.
"Very interesting. So, I'm not normally one for much chatter, but, without a cursed gear, how do you possess the power of a demon?" Shawn questioned further. Perhaps it was human experimentation again, it wasn't uncommon for humans to repeat there mistakes, despite the virus being spread not long ago.
