Ryder leaned against the wall when he was done throwing up, already in the process of falling asleep there. He had way too much to drink tonight, which was nothing too new. He was starting to fail half his classes, since he was going to parties more than he was studying and then he was hung over for the tests. He groaned a little, resting his against the toilet paper roll.
Eli shrugged a little. "Thanks, but I don't want that. I love music, but I don't want to tour or be mugged on the street. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do yet. " he admitted before looking at her when she said his name. "Yeah, Haze?"

Cassiopeia handed him the water, eyes studying him quietly for a minute. "Ry, you can't keep doing this," she sighed, sitting down next to him with a yawn, leaning back against the wallbeside him, tilting her head to look at him, more concerned than anything.
Hazel took another swig, glancing up at him. "What...what are you doing after this?" she asked hopefully, eyes glancing around nervously before coming to land back on him, unsure.

Ryder scowled, washing his mouth out with the water and spitting in the toliet before he took a tea sip. "Why not? Why do I have to stop?" He asked, a bitter note in his voice. (I'm thinking because he's so drunk he might admit to a few things )
Eli thought for a second before shaking his head. "I don't think I've got anything else going on. What's up? Did you want to go somewhere or something?"

[ yeah that works too! ]
Cassiopeia reached up, brushing his hair back from his eyes, sighing slightly. "Ryder, this isn't good for you. None of it is good. the drinking, the partying, the late nights. Come on Ry, you can't tell me this feels good," she frowned, cupping the side of his face lightly, eyes wide and full of concern.
Hazel bit her lip anxiously, glancing down at her glass. "Uh, well, I was wondering if you wanted to get something to eat?" she asked, tilting her head to peer up at him nervously, praying he would say yes.

Ryder frowned more at her. "It does feel good. It feels amazing to not worry for awhile. To not be anxious and full of self hate. It's feels freaking amazing to forget about all the bad stuff that has happened to me. Why can't you just let me enjoy this?" He mumbled quietly.
Eli thought about it and shrugged. "Maybe. Can we talk after? I gotta go back on. " he said with a tired smile. "But, uh, food sounds great. I've just gotta make sure I'm not busy or anything. "

Cassiopeia drew her hand back shraply, crossing her arms and glaring at the floor ahead of her slightly. "Ry, you and I both know that forgetting it, even for a little while, doesn't make it go away. And that it only hurts worse when you remember again later," she frowned, expression hard to read. "Not to mention the fact that it's not healty or good for you and that you're failing half your classes because of this," she spoke sharper now, clearly frustrated.
Hazel nodded, glancing back down to hide her disappointment. I mean, he still wanted to talk after, but usually that ended up with him being so tired that she didn't bother asking anymore, because she knew that it would be "no". She blinked, forcing a smile on her face. "Yeah, for sure. Break a leg," she teased, watching him walk off with a droopin smile before turning her back again, sighing. Kelly cross her arms, leaning against the counter. "I'm telling you Hazel, you've gotta give up on him. You deserve better," she said, softer now, and Hazel sighed. "I guess you're right. It's just...I've wanted him for so long...for him to like me and stuff, but the timing was mever right...maybe it will never be right," she huffed, draining her glass and tipping it forward for Kelly to refill, glancing back over at Eli, gaze soft.

"It could be worse. I could be addicted to drugs or something. It's just liquor, what's the big deal?" He protested, ignoring the fact that he was probably really dehydrated by now. "I'm tired of living here, Cass. " he whined. "I'm tired of passing by the spot I killed somebody. I'm tired of seeing my parents. Why does it matter if I fail my classes? It's not like I'm gonna do anything with my life anyway. "
Eli was back on stage, hand resting on the guitar. While he looked happy to be performing, he also looked exhausted. Between here and classes, he didn't have a lot of spare time.

"It could be worse! REALLY? Oh, sure it could be worse, but it could also be a hell of a lot better!" she snapped, positively glowering. "You're a brilliant artist Ryder, and you're extremely smart. You could easily make a career out of that! And you're just going to throw it all away over some stupid drink! Really Ryder, you're better than this," she huffed, on her feet now and pacing back and forth, gesturing angrily to match her tone, eyes blazing and cheeks red to match.
Hazel gave another sigh as another familiar face drew up. "Oh, hi Josh," she said softly, and Kelly winked at her. The tall boy leaned down beside her, taking a glass from Kelly with a smile, the girl disappearing to another part of the bar. Hazel blinked, staring at Eli for a moment before turning to Josh. Maybe this...this would be better. She smiled shyly at Josh, glancing down at her glass. "Can I...would you like to dance?" Josh asked her nervously, glancing at the other people that were bopping along to Eli's catchy tunes. She nodded, setting her glass down and allowing him to take her hand, leading her over. They were kind of shy at first, both of them, but gradually began to drift closer as the music slowed.

Ryder huffed, shaking his head. "I'm an adult, cass. I can take care of myself. "Art is a hobby. Not a career. What am I gonna do with a messed up shoulder and knee, plus a severe anxiety problem. Somebody yells at me, I shut down. You know this. " he said, words slurring.
Eli didn't notice right away. But he did see them towards the end of the song. Why did he feel jealous? Did he... oh. Oh no. Not the feelings. He did care for her. He just hadn't noticed it until now. It had been so subtle. She was always there for him.

Cassiopeia was quiet for a moment. "An architect. You could be an architect or a graphics designer or uhm...a children's book illustrator! There's tons of possibilities out there for you," she sighed, seeming to slow, pacing having stopped. "I'm sorry I yelled," she mumbled, coming to sit beside him, leaning her head against his shoulder, yawning tiredly and rubbing her eyes. "Drink your water," she sighed, closing her eyes with a grimace, getting a headache to match.
Hazel and Josh were having a grand time, twirling about and talking. Josh said something, leaning in close, twirling Hazel around, and she laughed, eyes crinkling and cheeks burning bright red, positively glowing. They slowed to a stop as the song finished, and Josh pulled her in, leaning down to plant a kiss on her cheek lightly. Hazel froze for a moment, before giggling shyly, tomato red, glancing up shyly and stretching up to kiss him back, smiling and leaning into it, heart pounding and blood rushing, Josh pulling her closer as she did.

He didn't seem thrilled by any of the answers as he took a sip of the water. "It's fine. Go to bed. " Ryder mumbled, starting to struggle to his feet. He was tired. He'd probably fall asleep on the floor.
Eli set his guitar on the stand, not processing what he was doing as he stood up and went off stage, elbowing his way through the crowd until he had reached josh and hazel. What the heck did josh think he was doing?

Cassiopeia rubbed her eyes, getting to her feet and pulling him up gently, taking the glass of water from him and setting it on the bathroom counter. She took his hand, leading him over to his bed and helping him crawl in. "I'm sure you'll think clearer in the morning," she yawned, rubbing her eyes lightly. She hesitated for a moment, yawning again, glancing back at her mostly finished paper with tired eyes, then at the clock by his bed. It was well after two a.m., and she had to hike across campus to get home, with all her papers and her laptop in tow. She needed to straighten up the bathroom, and she could just potentially bunk on the couch. Yeah, that sounded right. She turned back to Ryder, exhausted suddenly, wanting to make sure he was okay before she did anything else.
Hazel pulled away at the interruption, blinking in surprise. "Eli?" she questioned, pulling back from Josh with a slight frown. She crossed her arms now, bubbly demeanor gone. "What are you doing?" she asked, glancing around anxiously. "Shouldn't you be playing right now? You've still got...30 minutes," she glanced at her watch, sighing slightly, confused and annoyed, good mood spoiled.

Ryder made a noise of agreement, and by the time she turned back towards him, he was sound asleep, his face pressed into the pillow.
Eli didn't respond to her, snapping out of his daze after he had punched Josh in the face. And that was mostly because his hand now hurt. He scowled, shaking his hand out before glancing at his knuckles to see if he did any actual damage. This wasn't like Eli at all.

Cassiopeia yawned, sinking onto the bed beside him, rubbing her eyes. He looked so peaceful, sleeping finally, and she relaxed slightly, staring at her mounds of papers, frowning slightly. What was she doing? Honestly, what was she thinking? How on earth could she do all this? How much longer?
Josh had crumpled on impact and Hazel gasped, covering her mouth, before glaring at Eli, visibly angry. "What the hell Eli! What has gotten into you lately?" she snapped, dropping down to help Josh up. Once she got him situated and sitting down, she turned back to Eli, glowering at him, cheeks rosy and nose scrunched up along with her eyebrows. "Are you insane?!" she demanded loudly, bottom lip quivering slightly.

Ryder woke up the next morning extremely hung over. He rolled onto his side and covered his face with a pillow as he groaned quietly. That had been a big mistake. He should have come home after the first few shots. He didn't remember even getting here last night.
Eli didn't seem to get it until hazel looked ready to cry. He could then see exactly what he had done to josh. It had been one punch, but Eli was a strong guy. His expression instantly shifted to concern and he crouched down next to them. "I'm so sorry, man. " he said honestly. He felt bad about punching him, though he was still insanely jealous.

Cassiopeia had gotten up, straightening up the apartment and stacking her pages neatly, closing her laptop. She had finally crashed upon the couch, long body folded in on itself. She looked relaxed, dark circles evident in her face, completely at ease. It was easy then to tell just how exhausted she was.
Hazel shook her head, tears starting to spill over. "No, don't apologize! You're....just stop! Okay? I'm tired of this back and forth and back and forth. I'm not going to just sit here and grow old and wait for you to do....something!" she snapped, swiping at her eyes now. She turned to look at Josh for a moment, getting to her feet and pulling him up with her, him holding his bleeding nose. "Look, I'm done Eli. Just...don't worry about me anymore, okay?" she said, voice cracking faintly sad now. She was confused and hurt, and didn't really know what to feel. She couldn't seem to stop crying now that she had started. "Come on Josh, let's get you cleaned up," she mumbled, pulling him over to the restrooms, not glancing back, wiping her eyes yet again.

Ryder stumbled to his feet and went over to the couch, draping a blanket over her form before going to make breakfast and take something for his headache.
Eli looked hurt by her outburst. "Haze-" he cut himself off, dropping his gaze. He had messed up. Again. Why couldn't he do something right? "I... I'm gonna go," he mumbled before moving to get his guitar.

Cassiopeia didn't stir, out cold for once. She slept for a bit longer, until the sounds of someone in the kitchen woke her. She yawned, sitting up and rubbing her eyes, glancing around groggily. Her eyes came to rest on Ryder in the kitchen, and she got to her feet, blanket draped around her shoulders like a cape as she padded over to him, wrapping an arm around him from behind, pressing her face ito his shoulder.
Hazel didn't respond, too angry and confused. She got Josh patched up and sent home. She wasn't back the next night, or the one after that. She finally came in three days later, but wouldn't even look at Eli. She had only come to see Kelly, and even had earbuds so she wouldn't be entranced by his voice once more.

Ryder barely reacted, really out of it still. "Why didn't you go back to your room?" He asked softly. He didn't remember anything they had talked about.
Elijah had skipped out the next few nights as well, but he had to go back. He didn't look too good, like he had stopped taking care of himself as much. He had messed up. Not only did he mess up any chance of getting hazel, he had ruined the friendship too.

Cassiopeia gave a soft groan, yawning slightly and resting her chin over his shoulder, watching quitly, leaning ever so lightly against him. "Hmm? Oh...It was late when you came in...and you were really sleepy and I didn't wanna walk to my dorm alone in the dark at the time in the morning," she mumbled, rubbing her eyes with the hand that wasn't resting against his side, the. lanket clutched tightly in it to keep it around her shoulders.
Hazel finally looked over at him, eyes still blazing. She became still as she watched him, earbuds still in, noticing how tired he looked. Her heart ached for him, gaze softening. But, this was just ridiculous. How could he do this to her?

Cassiopeia kissed his shoulder softly, pressing her face against his back once more. "Whatever you're having," she mumbled, still exhausted.
An inch of guilt edged its way into Hazel's anger, and she glancdd over at Kelly, who was watchig him too. "He hasn't been here for a couple nights," she said and Hazel merely nodded, taking another swig of her drink. "I know," she sighed, and Kelly looked at the girl with pity. "Maybe...maybe I was wrong about him," she sighed, and Hazel bit her lip, shaking her head. She didn't want to get hurt anymore.

"Omlet?" Ryder responded, focusing on the task at hand instead of her. "I'm sorry for falling asleep instead of taking you home,"
One of Eli's hands were wrapped up, though he was still able to play. After the song ended, he headed off stage for a few moments and made his way towards the door. He just needed some fresh air.

Cassiopeia yawned, nodding at his suggestion, as she sighed, blinking, a little less groggy now. "I wouldn't have wanted to head home anyway. You know crazy Jason's parties are. How trashed is the dorm?" she asked with a slight groan, moving away to get some coffee going for the two if them, at ease in the dorm.
Hazel hesitated, finishing her drink before getting to her feet, tucking her warbuds and phone in her purse. She headed outside, quiet, coming to stand besdie Eli. She bit her bottom lip, leaning against the wall a little ways away from him. "Hi," she said quietly, glancing down shyly at the ground.

Ryder frowned as he tried to think about it. "I don't know. One minute I was dancing on a table and the next is just gone. I don't know what happened. " Ryder admitted, turning the stove off.
Eli startled, looking over at her before back out at the parking lot. "Hey. I, uh... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. " he said quietly, frowning as he talked.

Cassiopeia giggled slightly. "Danced on tables, did you?" she giggled again, stretching up on her tiptoess slightly to pull out two mugs from the cabinet, pulling out flavored creamer from the fridge before turning, pouring the coffee for them and fixing it to each one's taste.
Hazel was quiet for a minute, thinking. She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, sighing when it fell free once more. She looked him and down, studying him quietly, shuffling a little closer. "And?" she said softly, knowing he had more to say.

Ryder nodded a bit, looking down at his shirt with a frown. "This isn't the shirt I went out in. What happened? I think I was dancing shirtless?" He said, honestly so confused.
"I don't know what came over me. Seeing you with another guy... it made me jealous and I acted without thinking. " Eli explained quietly.

Hazel scooted a bit closer, eyes wide, anger gone. "You were jealous?" she mumbled, looking a little confused, studying him quietly now, unsure how she felt.

"I don't even listen to this band. " Ryder said with a faint laugh, taking the coffee with a quiet thanks. Surprisingly, his hangover wasn't that bad. They weren't as bad as they were at the start of the school year.
Eli nodded. "I guess I never realized that I liked..." he trailed off and shook his head. "It's stupid. I'm sorry. "

Cassiopeia giggled harder now, looking at the shirt fully for the first time. "I don't think I've even heard of them," she chortled, moving closer and leaning against the counter beside him, smiling peacefully. She looked cozy, like she was at home there, which was true. As long as she was beside Ryder, she was home.
Hazel moved to rest beside him now, eyes wide. She studied him for a moment. "Never realized that you liked what?" she asked, heart poundinf a little faster. She hoped he would say her, but she had a feeling he would say something else. He had a history of surprising her and letting her down like that, not that she minded. Until now, that is.
