...Welcome to the Artists' Square!
Welcome! Some of you are newer to the art forums, and some of you may even remember back in 2011-2014 when it was one of the busiest topics on the forums. The community then was huge: people supporting each other, inspiring each other, and ultimately helping each other become greater artists through countless galleries, critiques, and even a few fun events such as contests. Over the years the community died down considerably, but since these new forums have sprung up, it seems to be coming back full-force. Ultimately, the Artists' Square is meant to be a place where we can start to develop that same positive atmosphere again. Whether you're a newer addition or you're from the old forums, everyone is welcome! If there is one thing that has helped me personally grow as an artist, it is support. Although art is a more introverted and personal talent, oftentimes the place where ideas blossom is where other artists are too. Here we're hoping to harbor that support, and together, grow as a whole again!

A Quick Rundown of what we do here:
The Artists' Square is an all-inclusive group for anyone who loves art. This can be through appreciation or creation, so even if you don't consider yourself an artist but you do wish to join for the sake of an art-loving community, you're right at home. Here we host contests, promote galleries, help critique others' art, and essentially provide a place to meet other artists as well. As the Artists' Square becomes more popular, we plan on hosting a wide variety of fun events (such as a secret-Santa, Halloween parties, Easter egg hunts, etc), however in general, this is if anything a good place to chat with others, talk about OC's, host requests and art trades, participate in "join-me's", and more. There's really no limit on what this place should be, just that it's a space for artists to do as artists do.
Rules and Guidelines:
- Be Respectful: If there is one rule to follow, it is this one. I will not tolerate any rudeness here. Sharing art is an incredibly personal and vulnerable thing; my tolerance for meanspiritedness is extremely low. On that note, we should all work together to make this a worthwhile experience, one in which everyone is comfortable to join in. All genders, sexuality, belief systems, and etc are protected here.
- Mod's say is final say: the moderators I select are all chosen because I see them as responsible people who will handle situations fairly and justly. If they tell you not to do something, their word is ultimately law. If you think one of the mods have taken advantage of their power, please PM me and I will sort it out. However for the sake of keeping everything running smoothly, please listen to them at all times.
- Art Posting: only post your own art. This is final. The only exception to this rule is if someone has drawn something for you and you wish to share it (which in this case, that image belongs to you). Anything else should 100% have been created by you and you only. If you've used lineart or a base to do certain work, please ask the original owner for permission and specify that the lines do not belong to you, then give credit to the original owner.
- Ask an Artist: Even if an artist says requests are open, always ask them before expecting something from them! This goes for trades and gifts as well. Some artists are uncomfortable with others drawing their characters, so always seek permission before doing anything of this nature. Better to be safe than sorry!
- Forum Rules are my Rules: follow them. If you are unsure whether or not a particular forum rule applies here, always assume it does and then ask me or another mod about it. We really don't want this page to get deleted, and I trust the majority of you guys to keep in line with the pretty obvious stuff (no heavy cursing, no bashing, no spamming, etc).
- Inappropriate Art: if you're worried your art may be too inappropriate for these forums, please go ahead and shoot me a PM and I can help figure out if it's OK to post. We don't want any blatantly sexual situations in art nor gore that is too extreme. Chances are however the art should be fine, and you only have to run it by me or one of the mods if you're unsure whether or not to post it.
- Refer to the FAQ: if you're unsure about something, refer to our FAQ. We'll be updating it periodically if anyone has a question, and will answer it there.
- Creation of Rules: myself and any of the mods have the power to create a rule on the spot if needs be. This is NOT a privilege we will exercise often, but if there comes a situation that is extremely inappropriate, we have the ability to come up with a rule on the spot in order to deal with that specific situation.
So you want to join?
If you are interested in joining, please submit your form to the joining page! If you are unsure of what your "rank" is, please ask a mod to help you figure it out. The ranking system does NOT in any way indicate a joiner's status, it's used purely for organizational reasons. For example, someone who is "advanced" does not have any power over someone who is a "beginner".
