OOC:Text
Skylar smiled in recognition, then took the paper and read it, mouthing the words as she did. She then handed the paper back and nodded. "If texting is easiest, I'm happy with that. I'm flexible, whatever you prefer really," she shrugged. "So I'm guessing you will want to get to bed? I can shut this off?" She gestured to the small lamp that was shining.

Lach could barely sense the wavering in his partner's voice, and he nodded in response. "This way then," he repeated, trying to put more surety in his voice this time for her sake. Whether it worked or not he wasn't sure. He also straightened his back as much as he could when he started walking, in response squeezing Celia’s side and clenching his jaw from some of the pain.
The walk felt like it took forever, though in reality it had probably only been ten minutes or so since they started. Sam had already returned to show them where to go, just to the side of where he had been heading thankfully, and so now she was hovering in the sky above their heads to keep a lookout.
(should we do something with them before they get to the building, or once they get there?)

Nire nearly enjoyed the first part from where she sat on Phallon’s shoulder, however that was kind of to be expected from her. This was the first time outside the castle, and while it was dead and silent, it was still new to her, and she liked experiencing it! While first stretch was nearly boring, the second was a lot more interesting, and difficult. The rainforest returned nearly immediately, the divide between it and the dead land nearly instant, and walking through it was a lot more difficult as it was thick and luscious. Rico had to keep an eye out for Phallon and Nira here, as he was worried they could get easily separated between the giant mushrooms and large cat sized leaves. Eventually, after nearly 40 minutes of walking, they thankfully came to a road. This relieved Rico for certain, and even Nira, who had taken to hiding behind Phallon’s head. This was what Rico had been looking for, and from here he knew exactly where to go.
(Exactly right! If we want time to bend to our will? Sure! If we want to start a war? Absolutely! Take down Kings, Queens, and entire nations under our imagination and iron fists! We'll maybe not, but you get the point. XD We can do whatever we want with this lol.)
.-=-.-=-.
Lachy couldn't help but face-palm. "Oh, that's what you mean." He shook his head and looked back up, shrugging. "Then yeah, that does make more sense now that you say it like that. I'll be sure to get myself a map, from somewhere," he said, still smirking a little from his mistake. Then he shrugged to her comment about the tree house. "I guess that remains to be seen then, that feels like a stretch to me, even for Underland," he said jokingly.

Tori shook her head. Then wrote, "No, you're fine. I probably won't be getting much sleep tonight anyway, so you won't bother me. Go ahead and finish what your doing. I'll try not to distract you."

Celia felt his arm tighten around her, and, surprisingly to her, she felt a little safer having him there. Sure, he was beat up and in bad shape, but being tucked against his side offered a sense of shelter as they walked. The young woman was still nervous about the trip, continuously glancing around for signs of danger, but at least she wasn't panicking. She left all the navigating to Lach and Sam, settling herself to carrying the supplies and helping to keep Lach steady.
(I hadn't planned on anything. Did you want them to run into the gang again?)
~*
There wasn't much conversation on the journey. That was partially due to the sense of urgency and the need to not be caught. Phallon knew that in places such as this dead forest, sound traveled very easily. So she wasn't sad to not be able to talk to either Rico or Nira for the near hour that they walked. And just as sudden as they had entered one forest, another began, but this time dense and full of life. Here she allowed herself to give low grunts of effort, especially when climbing over large roots or having to trudge through thick bramble. Ever so often, she muttered a curse in Irish, but even then, she kept her voice low, just in case.
(Our enemies shall tremble in fear or our might and prowess. They just don't know it yet. XD )

"If you're going to be here for a while, the first thing to know about Underland is that this is a place of impossibilities. What is isn't, and what isn't is. You'll understand what I mean later as you witness it. My advice to you is to simply not think too much about it. Not everything can be explained, and that's how it should be," Celia told him.

Anya released her and smiled. "I came here to learn to be a Rider, and, even with our rocky start, I wasn't going to just give up. I'm glad I didn't," she told her. Really, if they hadn't worked things out between them, who knows what she would be doing now. Not about to go train while exploring the world. "Thank you, again. If you need me to help you with the preparations, just let me now. I'm sure Corrik will be easy to find if nothing else." Blagh. Short. Sorry. My next post will be better. xP Alia smiled. "Thank you. I'll keep that in mind. For now, go hang out with your friends. I'll see you later."

. Seth chuckled. "Well, that's good, but I'm warning you now, Cami isn't going to let you pay for anything," he said. "She likes you too much for that. Besides, I —"
"Seth!"
Seth froze, eyes widening. "No way," he muttered. He half turned toward the source of the voice. What he found had him pulling his hand from Anya's. A woman was striding confidently toward them. She wore dark flying leathers, and her long auburn hair was in a braid and draped over one shoulder. She was smiling and relaxed, but anyone observant enough could see it was just a very good facade. The intelligent gleam in her dark eyes revealed she wasn't as cheerful as she appeared.
"My, my," she said as she drew closer. Her gaze passed briefly over Anya, then dismissed her entirely and focused on Seth. "You get bigger every time I see you. Have you learned a new exercise method?"
Seth wavered, torn as he always was over how to act around this woman. With a glance at Anya, he decided on cordial. He put his hands in his pockets and simply said, "No." He wasn't that much bigger, anyway. Even as an adult, it took too much time and effort to be as big as most other Riders.
"Pity." She sidled closer, smiling demurely. Seth tensed, but if she noticed — and she was too well-trained not to — she ignored it and came closer still. As soon as it became clear she wasn't planning on keeping a respectable distance between them, Seth muttered a curse and took a half step back.
"Quit that," he growled. "And quit acting blind, too. You and I both know you see more than anyone."
The woman paused, but she didn't put any more distance between them. She smiled innocently. "You never used to shy away from my proximity, Seth."
"Yeah, well, you never used to be so possessive," Seth shot back. "Which is ironic, considering you no longer have any right to feel that way."
She just arched one brow, her smile turning smug. "Who's your friend, Seth?"
Seth was thrown for a moment by her question, which annoyed him because he knew that had been her goal. It also made him look like the impolite one who had been ignoring Anya this whole time. In truth, he'd been all too aware of her; he just didn't know how to act around these two women, for where Anya tended to bring out the best in him, Arianna brought out the worst.
He turned to Anya, aware that he was straddling a line here but unsure how to pick a side. "Anya, this is Arianna LaFaux. She was in training with Morgan and I. Arianna, this is the Circle's newest Rider, Anya." He purposely left out Anya's last name. The less Ari knew about her, the better.

Cami might not let her pay for any of the treats she got, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try. Anya was ready to point that out when a voice called out to Seth, cutting off his words. Curious, she looked around to spot a tall, attractive woman striding towards them. At the same time, Seth's hand left hers. She cast a look between the woman and Seth, trying to figure out what was going on. His good mood had changed into one much more guarded. She watched as the woman approach, quickly gazing over her for the barest of seconds. Her attention seemed to be solely for Seth.
Even as she stood there watching, the other woman tried to get far closer to Seth than should in public. It made Anya feel a little uncomfortable to be honest. She didn't know if she should back away and give the two a moment to talk or if she should speak up. Seth clearly wasn't enjoying the presence of the woman, but due to her words, he must have been familiar with her. It was only after Seth found his voice did he seem to remember she was here. "It's nice to meet you," Anya replied, deciding to be as polite to her as possible. Regardless of whatever might have been between them, Arianna was a long time friend of Seth's. Well, she assumed she was a friend.

. "Well, then I guess it's a good thing I caught you," Arianna said. "I need to borrow Seth for a bit, so maybe you can —"
"No," Seth cut in before she could finish. "Whatever it is, it can wait. I had to pull strings to get today off, and I didn't do it to be your busybody."
Rather than look put out or annoyed, Arianna smiled. "Trust me, you want to help me with this." She said it so confidently, it was a wonder anyone could doubt her claim.
Seth wasn't anyone; he knew Ari better than most, and while he couldn't deny that he was curious about whatever it was she needed his help with, he wasn't about to let her manipulate him. "And I will," he said simply. He leaned forward, looked her straight in the eye, and added firmly, "Later."
Stepping back, he took his hands out of his pockets and brushed his fingertips against Anya's hand. "Come on," he said. "Let's go get some cookies."

The thought of losing Seth's company for the day didn't sit well with her. In fact, Anya felt a spark of irritation towards the other woman at the idea. Old friend of Seth's or not, she didn't like the way that she thought she could simply ask him to leave with her, dropping any and all plans he had made. Had Seth not cut in when he did, she would have argued for him that he was currently too busy to help. Sure, their plans had been made only a couple of minutes ago, but she was far too excited to have them be canceled now.
When she felt Seth's hand brush hers, Anya didn't hesitate. She reclaimed his hand as if nothing had happened, stepping closer to Seth and giving Arianna a finale smile. She tried for a sweet look, but there was a smugness inside her that Seth had chosen to stick with her instead of helping with the unknown task the other woman had. It was a weird feeling, and she wasn't entirely sure why she was doing this. But it felt kind of good to be proving the point that Seth would rather tolerate her presence over Arianna's.

. Seth was surprised when Anya reclaimed his hand, but he was happy too. It made turning Arianna down that much easier. And seeing the shocked look on her face, brief as it was, was pretty great too.
He smiled and reached out with his free hand to brush Arianna's shoulder briefly. "It is great to see you again, Ari. We'll catch up later. Just lose the attitude, would you?"
Arianna said nothing, and she looked far from pleased. Seth only felt a little bad; they had been close once, but the relationship had deteriorated quickly. They weren't enemies — most of the time — but they weren't exactly friends anymore either. Their current relationship was… complicated.
When it became clear Arianna wasn't going to say anything, Seth shrugged one shoulder. "See you later, Ari," he said. He turned away and continued walking toward the gate with Anya.

"It was good to meet you," Anya told the woman once more, smiling despite the change in Arianna's expression. Whatever the woman had hoped to accomplish hadn't been achieved. She shouldn't have taken as much amusement from it as she did, but she couldn't help it. When Seth started walking, she was right there with him, leaving the other woman standing in her silence. She kept her closeness to him, their arms brushing against each others every now and then as they walked. Only when they were well enough away did she speak again.
"So I was thinking that after we leave Cami's, we might take Corrik and Stel out flying," she said, looking up to her companion to see what he thought. "This might be my last chance to really explore the land around the capitol, so I want to get a good look at it all before leaving. Is that okay?" She wanted to ask more about Arianna, about what he thought she needed his help for. But at the same time, she really didn't want to focus on the other woman. Maybe later in the day she might ask. Right now, she wanted to regain that air of excitement they had before she had shown up.

Anya didn't know what he meant by that, but she decided to wait and see. Chances were Seth wouldn't tell her anything anyway, so she just let the man usher her inside the shop. Immediately, the smell of fresh baked goods assaulted her, and she took a deep breath, enjoying one of the best smells in the world. Then her eyes noticed the display. "Seth!" she exclaimed, walking over to the cookies. "When did you do this? Or, better yet, how did you have so much confidence in me to do this. I wasn't even sure I was going to pass the test."
