(Yeah, don't worry, we can be culinary clueless together, lol.
John Flanagan is doing an amazing job creating realistic characters. XD)
"Of course, I do," Anya told him. "I've been helping my mother cook since I was ten." It wasn't a brag or a response made out of offense. She was merely answering and providing him with a fact. With so many men to do the brunt work of farming, she had spent most of her time at home learning about the work that was needed to run the home. Cooking, sewing, that kind of stuff. As boring as it sounded, she pretty much used all, if not just a few, of those skills on a daily basis.

(Life in general. I have moments where I trip over my low self-esteem, and this is one of those times.)
With each vegetable chop and piled neatly into their own little piles on the counter, Anya looked over at Seth when he spoke. "Yes, I figured we could either add them to the rice and let them boil or in with the beef to add extra flavor," she replied. "But if there was a way you wanted to fix them, I can easily separate out half of all of this." There were plenty of ways to cook vegetables, and she knew different people preferred one way or another. She wasn't really picky when it came to how they were prepared, so long as they were edible, which was any way. Sine this was his home, she would let him have the call on how things were to be cooked.

"Don't mention it," Matthias told her. "Have you figured out where you're going to be staying? There's a couple of motels in town I would be happy to drive you to. I'd offer you a room here, but I doubt you'd be comfortable with that. After all, you hardly know us." Not to mention they don't usually open their house to strangers for reasons being of privacy. What if one of the Pack came back in wolf form? It wouldn't be good for anyone. However, he felt like mentioning that staying here was an option would at least show her some kind of compassion and hospitality to a girl who was in a place she didn't know. "It's your call, though."
~*
"I think we should hold off on a lot of detail," Charles replied. "The simpler, the better. That way, I won't set myself up for too much failure, and you might be able to fix any mistakes for me. Salvage it to a point that will look decent." "Well, uh... no, not quite yet. My plan was to sleep in my car to save on money, especially after this little incident, but I guess if that is not an option I can stay at the cheapest motel." And it would have to be really cheap because who knew how fast her money could run out? She needed to be careful but she also needed to not be in a place anyone might recognize her considering she was still close enough to her old house that people could. --- Amelia couldn't help but laugh, "yes, I believe that would be a good idea. Simpler is better to start with. Now, let's see what flowers there are to paint." She started looking around the meadow and near the edge of the woods to find some easy painting flowers that were also lovely.

"But you're on a road trip," Matthias pointed out. "Didn't you save up enough money to not have to worry about were to stay?" He understood wanting to save money, especially with the unforeseen accident of her car breaking down. However, she she had plenty of money to go wherever she was heading, shouldn't that be enough to help get her car fix and head home? He himself wouldn't continue on with a car that might or might not break down again, especially if no one he knew would be able to come out and pick him up if he needed it.
~*
Charles didn't really care if the flowers she chose were pretty. In fact, if they weren't, it might be better for him. That way, if he messed up, it might not look too bad. There were plenty of wildflowers around the meadow this time of year so there was no shortage of inspiration to choose from.
(A little bit of both. That, and I'm not really sure how much of this is justified and how much is my own conjuring. I've never been able to tell the difference, so I really don't know if I have a right to feel this way or not.
Lol, good.)
"I'm sure. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to eat, and you can always save what isn't cooked for later use," she told him. While cut vegetables don't last as long as they were before they were cut, he could still enjoy them tomorrow.

I've been told I'm a good listener if you want to talk or vent a bit. I've found that can help sort things out too, talking about it or writing it down. Even if you don't want to tell me, you could try writing it all in a journal, or on a private computer document. I couldn't say for sure, but it might help. Could give you a new perspective of the whole matter, if nothing else. Seth nodded and got her a glass, then got himself some milk. He brought the glasses to the table, then went back to check on the food. Finding it ready, he moved the stew to a serving pot and brought it to the table; he did the same with the rice, then stood and surveyed the set table with the food placed in the middle, head canted. "Well, that's an unusual sight," he commented drily.

(I've tried writing it down before, and it helps a little. I need to talk to someone, it's just hard to form the words. I will keep you in mind, though, and I might actually take you up on that offer if things keep up the way they are.)
Anya had taken a seat into a chair while he brought the food over. At his comment, she turned an inqurig gaze at him. "What's unusual?" she asked. To her, this was a normal scene: a table set with food for all occupants to to gather and enjoy. Of course, this was a smaller table and less food than she was used to seeing, but the atmosphere was more or less the same.

I hear ya there. I'm really bad for keeping things bottled up inside simply because I can never seem to form the words; writing it down is no easier, even when I know I should. But yeah. If/when you need to talk, I'll listen. ^^ In the meantime, keep holding on, girlie! ;D Seth waved a hand at the set table, and her sitting at it. "This. I don't think I have ever used this table before. On, wait, that's a lie. I used it for poker night once. That was a disaster. But I've never eaten at it before, especially not with other people." As he spoke, he circled around to the chair across from her and sat. "Whenever I eat with people, it's usually at Cami's mom's place, or out in a public restaurant or something. Mind, sitting down at a table to eat has never been my thing anyway. I prefer picnics."

Right?! It's so much easier through characters. Probably because you can put, like, a "wall" between yourself and the emotions. If it's not really you, it's not a big deal, right? And you're welcome. Glad to be of service. ^^ Seth tried to hide the smile her words caused, but for once it wasn't for his usual reasons. "We do, do we?" he asked. "Why is that? Got plans for a dinner party or something?" Truth be told, he wouldn't mind that, especially if his family - his real family - came and Cami's mom was the cook. That would be pretty great, actually. But before he informed Anya of that, he was going to tease her about it first. It was no fun making things too easy for her.

(Life's busy, I get it. Truth be told, I haven't been on as much as I used to either.)
Tori gave a nod of agreement, not wanting to lift her head. With her stomach full and the day drawing to a close, the young woman wanted nothing more than to just curl up beside her boyfriend and nap. However, they couldn't do that. As soon as they got back to the dorms, they would have to separate to their own rooms. Was there anything else you wanted to do? she asked.
~*
Celia held his gaze for a moment. The softness in them was a little new to her. Yeah, Lach never looked at her with negative or angry emotions unless she had done something to make him angry, but the normal times they spent around each other never held such... Did she even know the word that would describe it? Then again, she never really made a point to make eye contact with him unless conversation or situations called for it. It was almost enough to make her shy away, not from fear, but just from confusion. A couple heartbeats more and she finally broke his gaze. Without saying anything, the girl curled up under the blanket, the action causing her head to lean into his chest a bit since there wasn't a lot of room.
~*
(I would think so. But to make things make since, we can say that the drop off point on Earth is randomized. Meaning, even though you use the same portal in Underland, it'll spit you out in a different place within a certain mile radius of the returning portal. Although, that wouldn't explain the time difference between the days he spent on Earth versus her time in Underland. Hmmmm.... I guess we could just say that instead of a couple of days, Celia had waited a few weeks before going after him.)
(Lol, don't worry about it. I didn't know what else to do, so I just describe the room to give me something to lengthen my reply. XD)
Phallon looked at them as if they were mad. "Are you not worried she'll catch us?" she asked. "What if there are guards posted outside to make sure we don't escape?" Not that she was really worried about it. After all, if the Queen thought she was her "weapon," then nothing would happen to her. Rico, on the other hand, had a lot more to loose.
~*
Celia shrugged. "Or maybe she's grown used to having a place for easy meals and shelter from the rain. Whatever the reason, she's there now," she told him. "I haven't named her yet. She's a cursed bird, and I didn't want to just name her something to revolve around that. I haven't really found anything that matches her personality."(You're probably sick of hearing it, but I'm sorry about that huge absence there. Trying to help with my grandparent's move into a retirement home with grandads dementia and they left us with everything, while we're trying to organise ourselves cause we just got accepted into a job in Madrid, Spain…) Maverick stayed still for a moment with her, cherishing the small time he had before. He knew that when they left they'd have to go back to their dorms, and separate. The pair rarely did separate before. They never needed to, everything they did basically was done together, so this was definitely going to be the hardest thing they'd done. When she signed to him Mav gently rubbed her back, sighing. “Don't wanna go back to campus do you?” He asked softly. He didn't want to go back either to be honest. .-=-.-=-. Lachlan held Celia’s gaze silently. This had to be the longest they'd ever held each other's gaze, and he liked it. He could see the confusion in her eyes, and while he wasn't so surprised, he had to be a little bit disappointed. Lach couldn't hold it against her though, the poor girl couldn't help it, she was just scared and confused. When Celia finally moved, cuddling up and leaning her head against his chest, the boy smiled a little wider. He then relaxed, closing his eyes to rest. .-=-.-=-. (Ooh yeah we could do that actually, I like that idea! Day within just a mile maybe? Cause every time they've gone through it was in the middleish of the city. And yeah the time difference, maybe the few weeks could work too?) (Ah okay lol fair enough. I've not been great at lengthening my replies lol.) Rico paused, his eyes looking down toward the floorboards for a moment, seeming to get just a little bit brighter as she spoke. However a moment later he looked back up, keeping the fear from his voice surprisingly well actually. “I-I don't think there will be any guards, they underestimate us,” he said surely. He knew though that if there were and they were caught, the Queen would not hesitate to kill him to get Phallon to do what she wants. But if they stayed, Rico knew that likely they would reach a worse fate. He sighed slowly. “And… I-I ddon't think there's much choice. We either try to escape, or fight a war we can't win…” .-=-.-=-. Lach let out a chuckle at her response, and shrugged slightly. “Well I guess that's also a possibility too, I'd like to think she's attatched to you, it sounds nicer,” he said in amusement, however her next statement make him blink in confusion. He would offer names for her, but what she said about the bird seemed like it would make for a better question to ask. “She's cursed? What do you mean?”

(That certainly seems to be the case, doesn't it? Like, you're able to see how all of these problems can connect in characters since you pretty much know everything about them, and they have different circumstances from you. It's different so you don't have to relate to those issues if you don't think too hard on them.
*inhales deeply* I smell an incredibly adorable scene coming on. xD She knows enough to not be horrible.)
"Oh, that would be a great idea," Anya agreed, "but I don't think you'd survive a large diner party right off the bat. We might start you off with something smaller and easier for you to deal with. Maybe invite one or two people over, ease you into social settings so you're not overwhelmed. It might be safer for the rest of us that way. Wouldn't want you to get annoyed at us and kick us all out. I would be more than willing to invade your house and make you put this table to use. Perhaps I can get Cami to help."
(And you're probably sick of it, but don't apologize. My own grandfather has dementia/Parkinson's disease as well, and he stayed at his home until he passed away. Trust me when I say I know how difficult a time it is to watch someone you love struggle with it, and I do not blame you for taking time to focus on helping him when he needs you the most. Add that on top of you having to manage that job acceptance? I hope you're managing to keep your sanity about you.)
Tori sighed. He could read her far too well. No, I don't, but we also don't need to stay out all night either, she signed. Classes started bright and early in the morning, and both of them still had some things to finish in arranging their part of the their dorms. Things needed to be done, and rest needed to be taken. She couldn't keep him out all night just because she was anxious about spending the night alone. Better to go ahead and get it over with instead of dragging it out.
~*
(Should we time skip with them? Or did you want another filler scene before they head back home?)
~*
(So that part's covered. However, the more I thought about it, I found something flawed in the time different. If Earth's time is slower than Underland's, then when Lach and Celia return, 30 or so years would have passed in Underland. Oops. XD So I was thinking that maybe time just paused or seemed to slow depending on which dimension you're in? When they're in Underland, ten years is only ten minutes on Earth, and then vice versa. Maybe that works better-ish?
Haha, it's fine. ^^ )
Of course, Phallon had never planned on talking Rico out of escape. She merely brought up the guards to see if he had thought things through. It would do no good to run out of the castle if they were only going to be caught again. In the end, she nodded. Her friend seemed determined and there was no way she was eager to fight this war. "Alright, what do we do?" she asked.
~*
"She can't hold a proper form," Celia told him. "For short moments, she can appear to be the brilliant Phoenix that she must have once been. However, more times than not, she's simply a skeleton. I have no idea what name would match such a creature."
