(Hey night! I just wanted to apologize for not being on lately. I’ve been really up and down lately and just haven’t been as reliable as I usually am. I just really wanted to apologize and let you know that I should be able to get a reply up within the next couple days if you’ll still have me)

( Yeah, but there were so many more still on the site. I was actually surprised there were that many. xD ) "Now," Alia said, still keeping that soft tone, also in an effort to avoid breaking her apprentice's concentration, "draw on his strength and try to shape it into a magic you can control."
Seth canted his head. "He'd never heard it described that way, but he supposed that was one way of looking at it. Not entirely accurate, though. Corrik's strengths would not necessarily be Anya's, and it would be easier if she focused on the inherent magic within Corrik instead. He couldn't use it, so it would be easier to access. Not to mention, that's what he had taught her already. Which just went to prove what he'd told her yesterday: each teacher taught differently. Bu since his method didn't immediately work for her, he refrained from correcting Alia and let Anya try it this way. Who knew? Maybe this way would be better suited to her.

(It's so hard to choose!!! Mind reading I know I want as a very minor ability. Not really well developed, but there. It's down to dragon manipulation and hatred absorption, and I really want to know what ideas you have for that one.) ( Okay okay okay. So, it's pretty simple really. What if, instead of following exactly what it says about hatred absorption, we tweak it a bit and say that when Anya absorbs another's hatred, she feels it. And maybe the strength of the feeling, especially since she probably doesn't normally feel anything that powerful (not negatively, anyway) makes her physically stronger. So, the example that came to mind when I thought it was this: Seth is super-super angry and about to do something we all know he'd regret later, so Anya stops him by absorbing his anger. But then she feels it, and she loses control of it, and she's the one who does the horrible thing Seth would have regretted? Such loss of control doesn't always have to happen (although seeing Seth restrain her until she gets under control again could be funny, especially if it makes her physically stronger xD), but it does when the emotion is particularly powerful.
And then the dragon manipulation could be used to help "the good guys" win in the end. Or! We can say there's someone within the dark side of the Riders (maybe Silas??) who has mind control powers, and maybe they use that power on Anya and she almost destroys the good guys with their own dragons?? But Seth, Corrik, and Stel work together to save her before it's too late?
Gosh, I'm making it harder to choose now, aren't I? xD )

(It's okay, Ariat! I completely understand, and I hope things get better for you. Of course, I'll still have you! Take however long you need because that's far more important than rping. Reply whenever you have time. Don't worry about it if it takes a while.)
(That's just fine. More options for us to improve the plot. xD
Anya had to resist the urge to let confusion contort her face. How was she to shape it? These were Corrik's thoughts and strengths, not hers. How could she bend that to her own advantage? She sought through her dragon's thoughts, hoping to find some answer from him. However, he was just as useless as she was. He might be the one who had all the magic, but he couldn't cast it about like Riders could. Spells were lost to him. So, partly to stall for time, she asked, "What should I shape? Or really, what should I try to do with it spell wise?"
(Yes, yes you are. xD They're both really good options, but I think dragon manipulation might be a bit too over-powering for her. Even if it would offer more uses to get her involved with the bad guys, I think it'll make her too much. Plus, you sold me on the image of Seth having to deal with restraining an angry Anya, and then her dealing with the shock of doing something completely horrible afterwards. I'm thinking she kills someone. )

( Aye. xD Sorry? ;P True. But maybe we can still use that general idea, but maybe tweak it a bit... Hmm... I'll put my thinking cap on that one. ;D Yeah, I really like that image too. And it'll be a really emotional moment for Seth as well as Anya, seeing her like that. And he'll probably blame himself for her killing the person, because if he hadn't been so mad, she wouldn't have done it. It'll be awesome. And you know what? This power would explain why nothing has "manifested" for her yet. But now a new dilemma: how does she figure out she has this power? Oh, wait! I just thought of a brilliant way! And it'll be Seth's fault. )
Alia screwed up her mouth thoughtfully. "Hm. Why don't you try to summon fire? It's something all Riders can do to varying degrees, since fire is inherent in all dragons."
Seth frowned. What Alia said was true, but fire magic could also be dangerous for inexperienced magic users. He sat forward, but caught himself before stalking over there. He forced himself to sit back again and watch. He didn't want to seem like he was dictating to Anya.

(which is totally fine! Reply when you can. ^^ ) (Maybe Genevieve will hope she has manipulative powers once she knows she favors the mental power area? She could still put her through a lot of tests to see if she'll be of any use. I think this is an excellent fit, and I'm more excited now than I thought I would be. Please, do tell.
I'm also going to have a moment of spontaneous magic right here. It's not really a manifest or anything, more like a spillage of magic if you will. Just to bring some excitement to the scene. )
Fire. Now that was something Corrik could assist her with. While he had only recently been able to breath fire, he knew for a fact that the fire was there since he had hatched, burning bright and warm in his belly until he reached the age where he could use it. He sent that feeling to his Rider, showing her how he pictured it in his own mind, how it felt, how he conjured it.
Anya focused on the images and feelings relayed to her while trying to picture it in her hand. She didn't know why she thought it'd be a smart or safe thing to do, but surely it would be fine. After all, if it was created by magic, then surely it wouldn't burn her. Alia never said where or how to summon it after all. Several long minutes passed by before anything really happened. Then, before she was about to call it a failure, heat suddenly engulfed her left hand. Her eyes shot open as she brought her hand up. They widened when she saw the flames covering it. Panic instantly rose in her throat at the sight, battling with the excitement that it had actually worked.

( Aye. I will start thinking of a couple "tests" for Anya, courtesy of a scheming Genevieve. ;D
It's simple really: Seth is gonna piss Alia off. xD Anya will start as an unfortunate witness, but then when things start escalating, she reacts instinctively and steals some of the anger from her teachers, has an angry outburst that is very out of character, and it acts as clue #1. ;D
She should lose control. Or set something someone? on fire. xD )
Alia was about to say something, tell Anya to try something else, when the younger girl's hand burst into flame. Her eyes widened in shock, and then she grinned. "Great job, Anya!" She clapped and hopped in place for a moment in celebration. "Now put it out. Think about how you lit it, and just do the opposite to put it out."
Seth was instantly on his feet when the fire flared on Anya's hand. He remained where he was, but his body was coiled tight, ready for anything. His eyes never left Anya, ready to help or encourage her as soon as it was clear which she needed from him.

(Hehe, I like that plan. I was hoping to set it up where Seth would scold Alia for the poor choice of having fire as her first use of magic anyway, so this will work out nicely. x3 And now you tempt me with her lighting someone on fire. How dare you? Haha, she'll more than likely scorch the ground around them if nothing else. )
It took a minute for the initial shock to wear off before Anya tried to end the spell. She tried to focus on her hand how it was before, normal and not aflame. It sounded easier to stop the magic than it did to summon it, so it should have had an instant affect, right? The woman cast aside the thoughts of fire Corrik shared with her, put them to the farthest corner of her mind. Yet the flames persisted. Did they look to be growing larger? Surely not. Once more, she attempted to cut the magic, panic slowly rising in her throat. The heat was definitely growing hotter. "I-it's not working," she stated, her voice wavering as she looked first to her mentor and then to where Seth was standing. If it wasn't for the fact that she didn't want to make a fool of herself in front of them, she would have let the full extent of the fear show. It was will only that made her stand stock still as she hoped one of them would have an idea of what was going wrong.

( Glad to hear it. :D Sorry? xD )
"It's alright, Anya," Alia said calmly. She remained in place a few feet in front of her pupil, looking totally unruffled by Anya's flaming hand. "Just focus. Take a deep breath and imagine the flames disappearing. Concentrate. Make it happen."
Seth, meanwhile, shot Alia a dark look. He wanted to ask if that was really all the advice she had to give Anya, but he was worried an angry outburst from him would send Anya over the edge. He could see her fighting panic; to him it was clear as day, and he really hoped that was just because he knew her better than Alia, because if Alia saw it and was ignoring it, he'd be really pissed.

(Haha, you're off the hook. She might end up doing it later on anyway. xD)
Anya took in a breathe as she tried once more to put out the fire she had created. All she wanted to do was wave it in the air or trying to smoother it with heavy material like any other fire. That was the logical reaction to anyone in her situation that hadn't used magic to get themselves in this mess. She desperately willed the fire to disappear. Beside her, Corrik shifted in unease, standing and bringing his head closer as if he could offer some kind of assistance. She wasn't in any pain, so he wasn't too worried. It didn't mean he liked watching her struggle like this any less. Her efforts only resulted in the flames catching the sleeve of her shirt. The image of it spreading over-rode what little control she had left. "S-Seth!" she shouted without much thought. Of course, had he not been there, she wouldn't have called on him. However, knowing he was here and more than capable of solving it, so it was more of a reflex action.

And just like that, Seth was crowding her vision. The relief she felt was undeniable, but it wouldn't stop the panic until the fire was out. She lifted her gaze to meet his, trying to stable herself. Well, so much for impressing him. No doubt she looked more foolish than anything. Listening to his words, the young woman drew in a breath, shaky as it was. She said nothing, knowing it wouldn't help at all. Picture putting it out without magic. So exactly what she wanted to do. She conjured up an image of her plunging her hand under water, the quickest and surest way to rid her of the flames. Without looking at her hand, for if she did, she knew she'd loose focus, she kept her eyes solely on Seth. She imaged the feel of the water, the coldness it brought with it. Before she realized it, the flames died away, leaving no marks other than singed edges of her sleeve.

Without looking away from her eyes, Seth saw when the flames started to die, the bright flickering in his peripheral vision slowly dimming, the heat slowly easing. When it was gone, he grinned. He eased back a bit, giving her some room, though he didn't let go of her arm. "There. That wasn't so hard, was it?" He glanced down at her hand, and let his own slid down her arm to ensure there wasn't any damage done to her skin. Satisfied, he dropped his hand. "That was pretty impressive," he told her. "Most Riders who lose control of their fire get burned in the process." He tugged at the burned bit of her sleeve. "But this is the only damage you caused. I'd say it was a good start, all things considered."

Seth's smile died as he watched her. He could guess her thoughts - his would probably be similar if their roles had been reversed, only he had the feeling his would be filled with more swear words - but he wasn't sure how to cheer her up. He concentrated on responding to her words, and he could figure it out from there. "Of course you didn't know. You've never summoned fire magic before. Or any magic, for that matter. Anya, it's not a bad thing you didn't know what to do. Fire is a terrifying element. It's wild, unpredictable, and often uncontrollable, even for experience fire users. Don't dwell on what you did wrong. Think about what you did right. You kept your panic in check, even though most anyone else would have given in to it. You kept the fire from burning you. And you kept it contained to your hand - with a small exception. You'll do better next time." I'll make sure of it, he thought darkly, resisting the urge to glare over his shoulder at Alia. The idiot should have given Anya more specific instructions before making her practice fire magic.

Okay, so. I went back to the very beginning and reread everything that’s happened so far, accumulating any and all info I thought was important and put it all in one place. I wrote down all the characters introduced so far, so we don’t forget any of their names (as I am prone to do xD) or roles. I also copied everything pertaining to magic, so we don’t accidentally go contradicting ourselves. Not that it would be the end of the world if we did, but whatever. Then there’s the places they’ve been (so far). I also noticed while reading that we kept going back and forth, calling the group of Riders “the Order” one post and “the Circle” the next. BUT, I thought of a good reason for that that would make it seem like we did it on purpose: one is for the good Riders, and the other the bad. ;D I was thinking the Circle would be the good guys, because that’s the one you/Anya used the most (and since she doesn’t even know there’s a “bad side” to the Riders, it’s the name she would know them by); and the Order the bad guys cause I/Seth used it more often, and Genevieve is all about order and obedience, so I thought it was fitting. ;) And then! My favourite part is the plots. Two of them you know, and we plan to put into action soon, but the third I thought up after reading the first handful of posts, with rogue Rider Leon. What do you think of it?
Characters (in order of appearance): Anya Dorreh, 20 → Corrik, 3 (?) ;; main protagonist and dragon
Seth Accio, 24 → Stellaluna, 8 (284) ;; main protagonist and dragon
Leon → Thumec ;; Seth’s first target; former member of the Order; former member of the Rogues; killed by Seth
Elizabeth, 35 ;; Carzon village woman; widow, childless; was the first to ask Anya and Seth for help with the band of thieves who were disrupting the town
Senza Arion, 23 ;; a close friend of Seth’s who lives in Carzon; is an orphan, and was a prospect Dragon Rider, but failed to hatch an egg, so she moved from Ilirea to Carzon; now owns a successful working farm there and often does (paid) favours for Seth whenever he’s in the area
Ceyon Coils, 57 → Emmer, 42 (349) ;; an older member of the Circle, retired from active duty, he now guards the city of Ilirea and keeps unauthorized dragons and Riders from the city; specializes in earth magics, and is powerful enough to sometimes divine visions of the future (he is constantly seeing Seth “die” but while the details are all accurate, his death has not yet come to pass); his dragon can talk to other Riders
Falcon Thimble, 32 ;; a half-dwarf, and the Head of Security at the Circle’s Headquarters in Ilirea
Genevieve Crassion, 46 → Ariss, 30 (332) ;; the leader of the Circle, and the evil mastermind behind the Order; Seth’s mother
Alia Scarlo, 22 → Ryven, 5 (213) ;; the newest fully-trained member of the Circle; Anya's teacher; specializes in earth and water magics
Silas Jorgensen, 24 → dragon, age (320) ;; a skilled Rider of the Order, and Seth's constant rival
Camille Vera, 22 ;; Seth’s best friend; Seth was raised by her and they see each other as brother/sister; she manages and runs a little café in Ilirea, selling baked goods and simple meals; mother: Cresseida; brother: Jakob
Places: Ilirea ;; Capital city of Alagaësia
Carzon ;; small, derelict town southwest of Ilirea
Cascade Falls ;; the largest waterfall in Alagaësia; hides a large network of caves and tunnels, including underground water sources; Seth's childhood hideout
Magic “By now, since there is a better way to use magic, only those who are centuries old or have been strictly taught the old way even still use the Ancient Language. And people have also figured out different categories of magic to study in. Like one person majors in healing, another learns elemental control, or someone specializes in mind reading and manipulation. While they all have to have a basic knowledge of everything, each person will gravitate towards their own preferred magic style.” —you
“Flying is one of the best ways to build your bond, and the stronger your bond, the stronger your magic.” —Seth
“Flying is much more than just the flapping of wings and going from point A to point B," he said, reciting words that had once been said to him. "Dragons, birds, whatever manner of winged beast you can imagine, they all soar not only on their own power, but on the wind itself. In fact, when they can, they don't use their own power at all, and just let the wind carry them. It conserves energy. Right now, for example -" Seth gestured with a jerk of his chin toward Stel's left wing, which was almost still as she flew. "She's not flapping, because she doesn't need to to ride this air current. But if she wanted to go a little faster..."
Stel responded to his unspoken request, and wordlessly finished his sentence. She tucked her left wing slightly, banking gently, then let it flare again. They swept upward and forward, moving a couple clips faster than a moment ago.
Seth grinned. "See? The wind is a powerful thing, one that winged creatures have learned to harness. Dragons naturally know how to read the air currents, but you can learn too. Actually, you'll need to, if you ever want to be able to ride Corrik from somewhere other than the saddle. It's lesson number one." —Seth
“How does one learn to read the winds, ride the currents, and understand the air itself ,without flying it yourself? The answer is actually quite simple: You don't. Not really. That's why we have dragons. They already know all those answers and more. All you have to do is watch, and learn. While you fly, pay attention. See when they make small adjustments to their flight, and ask why. Watch when they execute heart-stopping maneuvers, and ask how. And feel," he said, taking her hand and placing it against Stel's scales, right in front of the saddle. "Feel," he said again, "how they move, how they turn, when they accelerate. Feel it here." He lightly dragged one finger up her arm. "In every part of you that is connected to them. And feel it here." He tapped her left collarbone, over her heart. His gaze lifted to hers. "That's when you and your dragon will become one upon the wind." —Seth
“Magic is hard, but it's also natural. Something to remember is that it comes from your dragon, but it also comes from you. Think of it like... Your dragon is the jar, the container for your magic. You're the siphon, what guides and shapes it. But as I'm sure you've noticed, you're a lot smaller than Corrik. So while your 'jar' may be this big -" He held his hands about a foot apart "- you can only hold about this much -" He moved his hands closer until they were a couple inches apart "- at a time.” —Seth
“It's always in both, flowing between and through you like a current. Or," he amended, "like a bridge. The bond between you and Corrik is the bridge over which the magic flows. The flow is constant, but the strength of it is dependent on the strength of the bond. The ease with which you use the magic is linked to that too. The closer you are to Corrik - mentally and emotionally mostly, though physical distance can play a part too - the easier it will be to summon and use magic." —Seth
"It's not supposed to feel different. Whether you knew it or not, the power, the bond... it's always been there. It was just dormant until Corrik found you and claimed you as his. Now you just need to claim him, and the magic, as yours. In here." He tapped his chest. "It's yours, Anya, and it's there. You just have to believe it. And when you do, all you have to do is will it into whatever you want." He demonstrated by cupping both his hands and creating more balls of light that rose up and started dancing in the air around them. "Don't think so hard," he finished, lowering his hands. "Just... feel it." —Seth
“Because you have to want it as much as feel it, to make the magic flow where and how you will it. Feel your bond, feel the magic, and picture what you want it to become. Then will it into being." —Seth
The Circle: located at Headquarters/the House, on the northside of Ilirea; the Riders of the Circle are dedicated to helping the world and its inhabitants, using their powers for good; they are responsible for finding more Riders, and dealing with the problems and troubles of the common folk in the surrounding towns, villages, and cities; they know nothing of their darker colleagues, or the evil dealings of their leader, Genevieve
The Order: located underneath The Dragonslayer bar, on one of the more derelict streets in the heart of Ilirea; where the dozen or so Riders of the Order go to receive their missions and rewards; it connects to the Underground, a network of tunnels under Ilirea known only to a few; it is monitored by members of the Order, and no unauthorized people are permitted to wander the dark passes; the Underground houses several dark dealings, not related to Riders, the biggest draw being the Ring, a place for vicious pit fighting
Plots: Death of the Innocent ;; “She should definitely witness Seth killing innocent people. Like, he was told they commented a crime, but in reality, Genevieve just wanted them out of the way. I don’t why Anya might be with him, unless she just accidentally runs into him and tags along without knowing what he’s going to do. That should do it.” // Silas makes some off-hand comment about the mission after Seth leaves, and Anya goes after him to warn him.
The Test ;; “Anya goes off blindly trusting someone’s word, only to walk into a trap and get hurt. Maybe she finds so many contradictions in the values they’re teaching her to all of the stories she’s heard of the Riders that Genevieve sets something up to “discipline” her without Seth knowing. Or maybe he knows about it, but doesn’t think the test (as Genevieve told it was) will do any harm. However, when she’s badly injured, he sees how wrong the punishment was and starts to wonder if what he was taught was actually right. Thus giving him a moral dilemma of “What do I do?” Side with his old mentor/leader or side with his friend? I don’t know, we don’t have to use this, I just thought it’d be a good spot opening for Seth to have that eye opening moment of maybe the woman who he looked up to wasn’t being as honest as he thought she was.”
Rogue Dragon Riders ;; a fraction of Riders have broken off from the Circle, determined to stop Genevieve and her cruel and powerful Order Riders. They are led by Sebastian Accio, though he is known by most as The Ghost Rider. They are gathering forces to take on Genevieve's elite Riders, in the hopes of restoring the Circle to what it once was: Riders dedicated to protecting the world, and its inhabitants. (I'm thinking, at some point or another, for a reason as yet unseen (maybe after “The Test” plot idea?) Seth and Anya leave the Order/Circle and join up with the Rogues to help defeat Genevieve. Also, I had this brilliant idea. You know how Genevieve has said they have “people” for bringing in new Riders? Well, what if the Circle weren't the ones who gave Anya her egg? What if it was the Rogues? That's why the guy decided to teach her, to give her the best chance she had as an unknowing spy, and why she didn't get an escort or Ilirea?)

Anya didn't respond. Seth was right, of course. She wasn't sure how she had kept it contained as she had, but she had managed it. The fact that Seth was praising her for her attempt alone should have sparked some kind of pride from her. Yet it's never the positive that people seem to focus on, was it? It was everything wrong or what one could have done instead that dug it's way into one's mind and stayed there. The woman reached out and placed her right hand on Corrik's nose as the dragon gentle nudged her. There was guilt coming from him, blame for sending her too strong of an image to conjure, for not being able to assist her in learning what to do. She scratched at the small scales, more to calm herself down than to reassure his own worries. Over the years, this had become her cooping mechanism: scratching her dragon until the nerves and emotions died away. It was the same as petting a dog or cat or any other animal that didn't mind being touched. She would be fine, she knew that. Right now, she just had to get the anxiety out of her system.

(Lol, I have done a similar thing. I've copied and pasted all of our replies into a Word Document so I can save and read when not around internet. XD I didn't even notice, but I like your explanation for it, so it's canon now, lol. I am definitely going to save this list as well because you've done such a great job summarizing it all. The only thing I found that might be wrong, is I thought Jakob was the name I used for one of Anya's brothers? I could be mistaken, and I'll look back at it as well. Either way, it's not a big deal. I can change names and what not since they're not a big part of the plot yet. Other than that, it's really cool to see what all we made so far.)

( Nice. I thought of doing that too, but this was easier. xD Oh yeah... I knew that name was familiar. That's probably why I thought of it, actually, cause I remembered the name being mentioned at one point. But you don't have to change Anya's brother's name; you had it first, so I'll change Cami's brother's name instead. Maybe find another 'C' name. Hmm...
What do you think of the Rogue Riders plot idea? ) Seth watched her a moment longer, getting more concerned as her silence grew. To distract himself, he stopped fighting the anger simmering on the edge of his conscience. It wasn't aimed at Anya, of course, but at her mentor. Leaving the younger woman to the comfort of her dragon, Seth spun on his heel and closed the gap between him and Alia in a few angry strides.
"Are you out of your mind?" he demanded, his voice almost a growl. Stel would have been proud. "What the hell made you think fire was a good element to start with? Do you know anything about magic? Fire is not for beginners. You're damned lucky she didn't get hurt, Alia. I -"
"Okay, stop," Alia interrupted. She either failed to notice how doing so sent his anger spiking to new heights, or she ignored it. Gone was the docile girl who couldn't decide if she wanted to admire him or be intimidated; now she seemed just as pissed off as he was. "First, who gave you that right to intrude on my lesson? Anya is my student, and I know what she can and can't handle. Second, you don't get to be angry at me. You shouldn't have been here at all. So why don't you just -"
Seth snapped. Moving faster than Alia could track, he closed the remaining distance between them. He didn't touch her, though it was only a last second check on himself that prevented it. Eyes blazing, he glared down at the woman. She shrank away from him, but she couldn't escape. Even if she tried, he wouldn't let her get far. Oh no. He was almost too angry to think straight, and if she continued with the arrogant act, he may very well forget she was a girl and fellow Rider and do something he'd regret.

(Hey, if you want a copy, I can give it to ya. xD Save you the trouble. Lol, okay. That'd be cute. Is he an older or younger brother?
I LOVE IT! I've been trying to figure out what would happen after "The Test," and you offered up a brilliant idea! And that would make sense. It would explain why the person who tutored Anya waited three years instead of sending her straight to Ilirea. Maybe Leon was trying to bring Anya and Corrik to the Rouges, and he just had poor people skills. XD That's why Seth was hunting him down. He might not have known exactly why, but Genevieve would have.)
Anya listened to the angry words being thrown about by Seth and Alia. She had sensed Seth's anger while he stood beside her, so she shouldn't have been surprised. How any outbursts of his had she seen? Two? Three? Enough to know what he would be like. However, he really didn't have a right to be yelling at her mentor. Nor did Alia have any right to yell at Seth. She had, after all, not objected to him being there. Yet neither of them had really helped to prevent to situation. Blame couldn't be passed around like that. Her fingers stilled on Corrik's scales as her sour mood over her scare turned into a bite of anger at the two, a sudden irritation that wanted nothing more than to silence the bickering. Her dragon sensed it, but his concerned look was lost as she spun around to face the two.
"Will you two shut up!" she shouted. At the same time, a line of fire tore across the ground between them, as if to stop Seth from getting any closer to her mentor than he already was. He looked ready to strike the other woman, and she wouldn't allow that. She fixed the man with a glare. "Seth, move."

( Naw, I'm good. But thanks. xD Jabok-turned-Callum? I was actually thinking twin. ;D
I'm so glad you think so, cause ME TOO. xD And that is exactly what I was thinking. ;D Now I'm super excited for this. :D ) Seth stopped mid-step as he advanced on Alia, an odd sensation flashing through him that suddenly left him... confused. Alia had a similar expression on her face, as if her anger was suddenly depleted. Seth was about to ask what the hell when Anya shouted behind him, and a wall of fire shot up in front of him. Seth froze. Then, slowly, he turned around. He didn't really understand Anya's command, but he listened. He moved - right toward her. "Anya," he said slowly. "Are you alright?" She looked furious, angrier than he'd ever seen her. Actually, he didn't think he'd ever seen her angry, period. Stubborn and frustrated, sure. But angry? Definitely not. So what was going on?

(I've always been a fan of the name Callum, and I think it'd work perfectly for her twin.
Now I just want to skip to all this good stuff. XD)
"Of course, I'm alright!" Anya snapped. She strode forward to meet him only to shove him back. There wasn't a purpose for it other than she just felt the need to hit something. She knew she couldn't land a hit to him, so she did the best she could do. "It's you two that's acting like complete children. I appreciate you being here to help, but I didn't exactly hear you protesting when she gave the suggestion of using fire. You don't have a place to question Alia's judgement on that matter." Then her glare shifted to her mentor. No longer did she have any hesitation to talking bluntly towards her. At the moment, she didn't really care. "And you don't have a right to question Seth's actions. You could have told him to leave when he asked to join us, but you didn't. Not to mention that it wasn't that long ago you were speaking in awe of him. So shut it! What's done is done, and I don't want to hear another word about the matter. Am I understood?" Her gaze shifted back to Seth since he was the more stubborn of the two. Anya? Corrik's voice breached her thoughts, worry laced in that one word. Not now! she snapped at him, which only served as proof that something was wrong. The bickering between the two had always been playful, and the times it wasn't, neither of them ever held any hurt or anger behind their words. Her response might have been short, but it was enough to make the black dragon physically recoil from it.

"Poor way to start out a road trip," Matthias agreed. "How far in are you? Would there be anyone who might be able to come pick you up or bring you another car at the least?"
~*
Charles had no difficulty keeping up with her new change of pace. His longer stride allowed him to comfortable cover the same amount of ground walking that she did scurrying. So he kept pace beside her the entire rest of the journey to their chosen spot for their painting session. Alexa quickly lied to this question but non suspiciously. "I'm a few days in so I don't know anyone and it is too far for anyone to come get me as well." She rubbed Rocky's back and head as he settled down on the seat. --- Amelia noticed this and jokenly said, "I hate being short. You don't have to do anything besides walk normally. There's no way I could beat you in a race."

( Hey! Sorry for the delay in replying. Work was crazy busy last weekend, and this week I'm a camp counselor for March Break Camp, plus I've still got work most evenings. ^^’ )
Seth hardly moved when she shoved him, despite his surprise, or perhaps because of it, and then he just stood there, motionless but ready. Logic and experience told him Anya wouldn't do anything, but his instincts sensed a threat. And she was definitely acting out of character. So as he stood there, silent and calm once more, he studied her, trying to puzzle out what had caused this shift in her. He included Corrik in his observations, to see if the dragon was in on it or as confused as Seth secretly was. He saw the big black beast recoil, likely from something Anya said to him, which was enough to give Seth his answer: this wasn't normal Anya behaviour. So what brought it on?
( I'm gonna say Anya only took Seth's anger, so he has a chance to study her in “action” while she takes Alia's too. ;) )
Alia, on the other hand, was stunned silent for only a couple seconds. Then her temper flared back up. She reined it in at the last second, and tried to speak calmly. But her expression was tight, and ire flashed in her eyes. “I'm sorry, Anya. When did you become the teacher and I the student? You have no right to talk to me like this. And certainly not Seth.” Alia may have been irritated with Seth, but he was still a high-ranking, esteemed Rider. No one should talk to him like Anya did - most wouldn't even dare.

Matthias nodded. It was certainly not a good predicament for her to be in, and he couldn't find it in himself to just let her figure it out on her own. "Have you at least contacted anyone about what happened? Just so they know where you are?"
~*
Charles laughed. "Being short has it's perks too," he told her. "For one, you can blend into crowds better. People tend to notice us trees whenever we're around."
(It's fine! I figured you were busy with something along those lines. ^^ No worries there. And that sounds like fun! I hope you have fun! Sorry if this isn't the best. I have not idea how to find a medium area, so I just went with trying to find the worst things to say that could temporarily cause hurt feelings towards the two. XD)
Anya shifted her gaze towards her mentor. There was a moment of pause as her demeanor changed. Her face took on the same tight expression Alia wore as her sudden irritation turned to a cold, steady anger. The woman's body was tensed in a defensive stance as she held the other's gaze. Whatever part of her brain told her to hold her tongue wasn't working. "I'll start acting the student when you start acting the teacher," she responded. "You've only been teaching me things I've already known. These past few weeks, we've barely made any progress in the areas that are important for a Rider to master. So you tell me why I shouldn't I have a right? As for Seth, what gives you the right to speak as you did? After all, from what I have heard you've just recently finished your training? So why are you shouting and accusing him?" Not to mention, she doubted her words had any effect on the man. He's probably heard worse.

( Looks good from where I'm standing. ;D
Okay, so I found a second theme song for Seth that may just be better than the other one. It's call “I'm Still Here,” and it's Jim's theme from the movie Treasure Planet, if you've seen it/heard of it. I feel like this song will truly suit Seth after he and Anya leave the Order/Circle to join up with the Rogue Riders, cause he'll need to do some serious soul searching to realize he doesn't have to be a “bad guy” anymore and whatnot. )
As she stared her apprentice down, Alia felt her anger melting away, though she couldn't explain why. Nothing Anya said would normally have dissipated her frustrations, certainly not so quickly. The sudden loss of anger, despite still having reasons to be angry, left her standing there confused for several moments before she conjured up a reply. “I… I didn't realize you already knew so much. But you should respect your elders, regardless. I may have only finished training a year ago, but that's still a year more experience than you. And Seth…” She shot him a brief glance, then redirected her gaze to the ground. “Well, he was asking for it.”
Seth watched the subtle changes come over Anya, just as Alia seemed to lose steam. His brow furrowed slightly as he thought about her initial outburst, and compared it to this calmer fury. The first time, her anger was similar to his own when he was really mad, and it corresponded with him suddenly feeling a lack of anger. And now Anya's anger resembled Alia's from a minute ago, but Alia really didn't appear mad anymore. So what…? Then it clicked, before he'd finished thinking the question. His eyes widened. “Holy shit,” he whispered. “You're absorbing our anger."
( You should have Anya's anger last another post or so, and then have it kinda fizzle out and leave her like "Uh... what just happened?" Like, she remembers it all, but it's like an out of body experience, maybe? I don't know, just an idea. If you already had a plan, you go with whatever feels right. ;D )

(ALSDHASFDDFE!!! TREASURE PLANET IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES, AND THAT'S THE BEST SONG EVER!! Yes, yes, that fits Seth much, much better. Now I'm getting emotional for the boy. XD This make me so happy.)
Anya didn't hear Seth's sudden revelation about what was happening. Alia clearly wasn't angry anymore, but her veins still sung with it. Her mentor's response was a reasonable one, and had she been in her right mind, she would have felt ashamed for her outburst. She didn't. Instead, she shot back, "And did it never occur to you to ask to find out? Aren't you supposed to assess my abilities and skills to figure out where I need help? Where my strengths and weaknesses are? How to best train me? Maybe if you had taken a little more consideration towards what we already knew, we wouldn't be here at the moment." At the comment about Seth, she had to scoff. "And you gave him the satisfaction of giving it to him?"
(Lol, that was what I was thinking too. ^^ )
