Found forums in late 2010-early 2011
Mostly hung out around Warriors Fan Fiction as a guest.
First finished fan fiction I ever read was Death to Life
Joined in July of 2012
First post Unknown (otherwise know as I can't remember.)
Became a fan of a lot of different fan fiction. List I can remember: Deep Blue Eyes, Over and Over-Again and Again, A Soul's Path (even if it didn't have a fan list), Two Souls, and a number of other well known and less known fan fictions.
I became a loyal fan of The Cat With Black Eyes
I posted my first topic. It was about was about how I thought the story wasn't going to end at OOTS. Some of my guesses were right, some weren't.
I made my first review for the Cat With Black Eyes
Left the forums in late 2012
Watched the forum for a year. Watched the Cat With Black Eyes die. Watch a lot of my favorite fan fictions die...
Came back to the forums in 2013, probably in the month of July.
Joined a RP (my first) called Gemstone Clan. First few forms were not accepted, but my first character, a non-powered cat called Shadepelt, was accepted in the end. More characters followed.
Created my first fan fiction: A New Life.
I made my first forum friend: spiritdeath
I started supporting the fan fiction A Soul's Path, even though the author had left.
Forums changed to red and blue version.
Gemstone Clan died in 2014 (or late 2013)
I made my first RP, Moonclan. Which became more active when spiritdeath joined.
spiritdeath left the forums.
Made a fan fiction called Out of Time. It died in about two months because I stopped working on it.
It became to painful to support A Soul's Path around the middle of 2014. It just felt so hopeless.
I came back 6 months later to support it again.
I became forum friends with a lot of authors in the Warriors Fan Fiction section in the time between late 2013 and early 2016.
I took a long break from the WFF (for the year of 2013 or 2014, I forget which) and hung out in Warrior Misc.
Somewhere in-between 2013 and 2015 I became well known for hanging around WFF and being a supporter of new authors.
Poisoning the Sea: The Comic was made in 2015, around the month of May. It was deleted. I blamed the Cat Killing Scare. (Time in the old forum when the mods was considering making it against the rules to kill cats unless it was from natural causes.)
Cat Killing Scare ended. I reposted Poisoning the Sea.
I was suspended because of Poisoning the Sea. (Turns out it was because the mods believed I was killing kits in the comic, even if I was not.)
Came back a week after being suspended, afraid I would get suspended again.
Posted a fan fiction version of Poisoning the Sea about two-three months later.
I entered some of my one-shots for Poisoning the Sea in Tuesday's Challenges. Tempest Falls got the highest score in the history of me posting my stories at 9.5 points.
Poisoning the Sea had it's art removed.
Re-added the art. Later the whole fan fiction was deleted by accident, caused by a problem with the WCF site. I never reposted it.
Started to do stories about the Poisoning the Sea world. Never had any problems with them.
First issue of the WFF Newspaper was posted.
November 1 2015 happened. (Note: If you joined the WCF forums after this date or just don't know what I'm talking about: This was the date that the forums found out that words having to do with the LGBTQ+ community had been uncensored.)
Second Issue of the Newspaper was posted
Created (the second version of) The Game: A One-shot Headquarters for all my one-shots in the Poisoning the Sea world.
I made Mortality in Late November- Early December. It was a remake of A New Life.
I entered it into a contest and got second to last.
Started RPing more often.
Forums ended and I joined the new forums.
The Story:
The first time I ever saw the forums I overlooked it as just a bunch of words. I wasn’t that into reading then and couldn’t help passing the forums of as a gameless site with nothing interesting. This was because I wasn’t interested in words then, or how many games you could play with them.
This was in 2010. I believe I came back in early 2011. I think those were the days when I was a lest willing to give books a second glance verse going straight to the books-on-tape.
I fell in love with the Warriors Fan Fiction area by 2012. Maybe as early as 2011. I don’t know which fan fiction I looked at first, but I remember so many.
I was watching Silence, Fear, & Love when it only had 13 chapters at think. I looked at it, but I don’t think I ever read it.
At this point there were two fazes were going around. (Well, four, but I didn’t pay so much attention to the Hunger Games/Warrior books or Spoofs back then.)
Continuing the Warrior stories were one. 2012 was the year that The Last Hope came out and everyone was on to write and read about there favorite characters after the series had ‘ended’.
I was one of these people.
Another faze was twoleg to cat fan fictions. I loved these fan fictions the most.
Some of the fan fictions I read back then were: (I kept a list, since they didn’t have a like feature back then.)
List 2012-2013:
My Wish by Brightspirit of Windclan
Spirit of Hope by Honeytongue
Over and Over, Again and Again by SweetShine
Warriors Observation Journal by Loveleaf
Nine Lives-Cursed to Live Again by evt78
Song of the Chosen and Shadowed Steps by Darkfeather88
Two Lives by IcetailRox
When There’s No Room Left in the Dark Forest by Nutpelt5216
Power of Moonlight by -Mosstail-
Two Souls by Petalkit
From Fingers to Fur by Greebo
The first finished fan fiction I ever read all the way through and it was also one that I watched from the beginning, was called Death to Life. I only remember this because I did fan art for it, even back before I joined the forums. I, however, no longer remember who the author was.
Name almost any fan fiction from those days and 90% of the time I would have been reading it or I would have at least looked at it.
I joined the forums in 2012 and did much the same that I had when I was just a watcher. I, every so often, posted a ‘fan me’ or ‘I like this’. But that was about it. For someone who prides herself in being supportive of authors this seems like a poor start doesn’t it.
I’m unsure when I started becoming a loyal fan, but I know which fan fiction I tried to be a good fan on. I failed terribly.
It was called The Cat With Black Eyes. I remember the plot clearly, but not who the author was. It was the first fan fiction I ever wrote a review on. But things happened that I couldn’t change and when I left the forums for one year it died from inactivity. I left the forums as a member, but not as a watcher. I watched as it slowly died. Sometimes I wonder if that’s why I supported fan fiction and the authors on the WFF so strongly after that.
I watched as new authors come into the strength. I returned to the forums in time for the last year of both SweetShine and Greebo.
But why did I return?
Looking back, I wonder if one single placement of these events had been different if I would have come back.
Lets start at the beginning of these strong ripples that meant I could return.
I believe it all started with Greebo, but it could just as easily have started with Brightspirit of Windclan’s My Wish.
Brightspirit’s story was one I adored and Greebo’s was amazing. Somehow, I ended up searching with the words Twoleg to Cat.
One story came up that caught my interest. This was in 2013 and Power of Moonlight was in the middle of it’s soon to be completed story. However, it wasn’t a two-leg to cat story, so why did it set of the search results?
The answer was one of the pictures that the official artist, Wolfpelt102 had drawn. It was humanized versions of two of the cats in the story.
To begin with I didn’t read the story, I just looked at the art. Of winged cats and creepy eyes and of all sorts of things. There was a picture of Scourge and a cat with bat wings! What was this fan fiction about?
But that question never crossed my mind as I exited the fan fic with anger. It wasn’t a twoleg to cat fan fiction, why should I be interested in it?
And yet, the rest of the day, I was…
What was this story about? I kept asking myself.
I finally looked it up again, dying from wondering.
I loved it at the first chapter.
I wanted to find more! More stuff by this author!
This was a time when guests could look through a members resent posts without being logged in. So I looked through -Mosstail-’s resent posts…and left soon after, overwhelmed. To many things were there. I couldn’t tell what was -Mosstail-’s and what wasn’t.
So I looked at Wolfpelt102’s posts.
On first glance, she’d only ever posted on Power of Moonlight. But no. Two posts were somewhere else.
A place called A Rocky Foundation Part 2, in the Art Forum.
I looked at it and the same thing happened. I left in anger, but this time because it was a spoof comic. I’d looked at spoofs before and they just weren’t funny for me.
But again, the same thing happened, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I was interested.
So I went back by way of a lot of search through Wolfpelt102’s posts.
Again, I loved it! (Though I had to find part 1 first.)
And again, I wanted to find more by the artist/author.
I looked through *Sparrows posts and found a place called Gemstone Clan created by Darkfeather88 that gave me this sense that I’d been here before (Hint: Look at the list of fan fictions I read in 2012-2013. In this case, these two fan fiction were written in 2012 I believe).
I just had to join that clan.
So I came back. It was a simple and as complicated as that.
The first few forms I entered for this clan weren’t accepted, but I finally entered with a character called Iceheart, I believe. However, if memory served, I think there was a non-powered cat I created before her. Shadepelt. She was my first RP character. But I RPed more with Iceheart.
My first forum friend was made on that clan. Her SN was spiritdeath.
Later, when Darkfeather’s clan died I though that was it, those good time RPing when her were over. Then she joined my newly made Moonclan (v.1). A few years passed away roll playing with her.
My first fan fiction was made the day after Moonclan was. I was well acquainted with the author of Power of Moonlight, -Mosstail-, by then. Mosstail helped me keep A New Life alive for a few months, but I moved on to History of the Clans. History of the Clans had more loyal fans then A New Life ever did. It had Firestar5! and -Mosstail-, who helped edit the stories.
Around 2013 (or 2014? Can’t remember..) I mostly left the WFF for Warriors Misc.
Nothing interesting really happen when I was over there, but a year later, when I came back to Warriors Fan Fictions I was more active in the community.
I believe me getting to know so many authors in the WFF was because of an idea I had when reading a collection of short stories (the book was planned out by P. C. Cast, I do remember that.)
(I also started writing stories for Tuesday’s Challenges around this time.)
I thought, why don’t we have something like that? A collection of short stories by authors you know. And that was the birth of the Collection.
I chose different authors at random. Any author that turned up on the front page when I was looking was picked. This was how I found the authors Shadowface, Tuesday, and Mosspool.
The first version of the Collection’s planning page was closed by the mods because of how I had worded the title, but the Collection still happened and it also ended up have an anniversary Second Collection made later. These Collection was how I met many of my future forum friends and how I found new fan fictions to read.
Not long after the first Collection was posted I got suspended.
I had learned how to post pictures not more then a month before and I loved being able to do fan art. I wanted to start a comic as well. It was 2015 and I’d had an idea spinning around in my head for ages. I started making a comic about it called Poison (later called Poisoning the Sea). When I posted it, and it was deleted for Cat Killing, I was very confused.
I looked up the words in FAQs, but nothing. I asked what getting a topic deleted for Cat Killing meant, but no body knew. I was the first one ever to have there stuff deleted for Cat Killing (or at least the first person to ever say anything about it.)
I was the first person to ever get their topics deleted in what some would later call the Cat Killing Scare.
Suddenly topic were being taken down left and right. Some mods thought that there should be a rule against killing cats. Unless the cats died from natural causes it should be considered to violent for the forums. It took going all the way to the head moderator for the mess to be straightened out.
Killing cats was aloud.
Throughout all of this I was very confused. I hadn’t actually killed any cats in my comic. Not yet at least. So I just reposted it.
Bad. Idea.
I was suspended that same week.
For kit killing!
Poison featured a sickness that infected the entire group of cats in the story. I said the sickness only affected cats of apprentice age and up in the summery (if I remember right...).
But I’d forgotten to say that it didn’t affect kits. So suspended for kit killing it was, even if I’d never even killed a kit. What was done was done.
A week later I was aloud back on the forums, but I was to nervous to repost my comic even though the mods said I could if I made sure to say the sickness wouldn’t kill any kits.
I was fearful of being banned. I was fearful of even saying that was why I’d been missing for a week.
I think the only former I ever knew was Sapphire, who I told about a month later.
Even though the comic wasn’t an option I wanted to take there were other things I could do with the world. I had already begun to write one-shots in the world of Poisoning the Sea. I now called it the world of the Game.
In the end I wrote more one-shots for Tuesday’s Challenges about the world of the Game then any other plot I explored in those contests.
I also started writing a fan fiction version of Poisoning the Sea, but first its art was deleted, then the whole topic itself (by accident). It was just to must trouble to try and repost the idea for the third time! (Plus the comic, I also rewrote Poisoning the Sea twice.)
I started Cyclone for a contest that never happened. It got through a few chapters, but I lost the motivation to continue it. Lastly, I wrote, (and finished!) a field guide taking place in a sub-series of the Game.
I started making contests and entering them. I began RPing again. And I remade A New Life, my first fan fiction, under the name Mortality. I was still reading many different author’s stories and giving fan art to them. Life in the WFF was pretty good.
Then, one day, I came back to the forums to check one of the fan clans I was in and saw something about a ‘see you on the new forums’.
My stomach plunged. I felt like I knew this day was coming, but had never expected it to be so some. Like one of my forum friends, Dingoleap, said: I expected to still be logging on 40 years from now.
That it had to come just after my 5th year anniversary was sad. Very sad. I was losing so many memories and getting to say one last goodbye to people who I hadn’t talked with in years wasn’t any help.
My only joy that day was knowing it wouldn’t end there.
And as you can see, since I’m posting this here. It didn’t. It’s hard to put 5 years into a story. I can’t put all my feelings or thoughts into this, not yet. I’m still keeping some of my memories as treasures.
Below are precise dates to a lot of the things listed about, with bonus stuff added about other firsts of mine. In the Summery is a few more things that just didn’t make it into the finished story.
Hope you like the little bit of insight into my years on the forums.
Thank you for reading.-- mintedstar/fur
