Introduction:
You step lightly through the haze, your eyes struggling to penetrate the thick fog that collects in the falls and coats the entire forest in a soup of grey. The foliage around you is thick and dark and could easily be hiding anything. The very thought sends a small prickle of fear along your spine. There were rumors that had been passed from generation to generation that spoke of silent, ruthless cats who ruled this forest and its rough waters. A clan of merciless killers, hardened and savage. An especially thick patch of brush blocks your path, intertwined with vines and aquatic plants. The quiet sounds of splashing reach your ears, which you can only assume is the flowing of another stream. You've already encountered two in this crazed forest, and you don’t look forward to crossing a third. With a deep breath, you force your way through and into the open. But the sight you're greeted with is not what you were expecting - not in the slightest.
There are kits. Little kits and apprentices, most the same shade as the fog that surrounded them, splashing and squealing in the gentle waters. A large pool had formed in this part of the forest, its shallow waters a bright and peaceful blue-green. There's a queen to your right, watching the little ones with a bright smile and pleasant look upon her face. Beyond her you can see large rocks, hollowed out by the flow of water and the progression of time. Cats milled about, eating prey and chatting idly. These are not the killers you'd been lead to believe in. One she-cat approaches you, looking more stern than the rest. She's clearly young, maybe even younger than you. "Hello there," she meows. Her voice is calm and serious and sends out no warning signals. "I'm Springstar, leader of MistClan." Her gaze sweeps out over the cats, a gentle smile pulling at the corners of her mouth. "You've done well to make it this far. Come, rest. Maybe you'll even stay. We can use cats like you. Strong, quick, silent." She gives a little purr, then turns and enters the camp through a small dip in the ground, covered by an overhanging of moss.
Maybe this clan isn't what it was made out to be. Rumors aren't very trustworthy, after all.
About:
This is a clan that was made by myself, Mossecho, The Dreamer and Smokefire. I couldn't have done it without you guys. Unfortunately, the forums are shutting down before we were able to finalize everything, so this is going to have to do. I sincerely apologize to Moss for not being able to use all of the gorgeous coding, though I'm doing my best to figure it out.
This clan doesn't have normal ranks, they differ slightly from the normal ranks in a typical clan. There's still a leader, medicine cat, med apprentice, warriors, apprentices, elders and kits, but they are a bit more specialized than that. When a kit is name an apprentice, they can choose one of 3-4 categories to go into. The hunters are aptly named - they are in charge of catching prey and providing for their clan. The Guards go on patrols and protect the borders, and will the be the first in line to defend the clan. The Caretakers work with the queens, kits and elders to make sure that they're comfortable and well cared for. The fourth option is medicine cat, but there can only be one. When a cat chooses their specialization, a warrior from that group will be assigned as their mentor. Once a week, all of the apprentice in a group will be taken by the Head of their group into the forest for evaluation.
History:
I came to this forest moons and moons ago - even lifetimes. My tribe lived high in the mountains, keeping our traditions and values safe in the clouds, not wanting to share or diversify. I was promised a position as Teller when I was born, but when the time came - I was refused. Determined to make my own clan, I left. I left my mother and father behind, along with my siblings and mate. For moons I traveled until I came across a massive waterfall, careening over the edge of a sharp cliff. Its waters were pure and bright, but down below - dark and shrouded in fog. The forest that stretched below me was misty and thick, like it was hiding valuable secrets.
My daydreaming was cut short as the rocks I stood on crumbled, flinging me into the river. I was sent over the waterfall, barely managing to pull myself from the rapids at the bottom. When I emerged, I was surrounded. Dark-pelted rogues had appeared, seemingly from nowhere. Their pelts were thick and smooth, like the'd been bred for these waters. After some nervous introductions, these cats welcomed me into their group, teaching me the ways of the forest. I eventually decided on something - these were the cats who would help me become the leader that I was destined to be. They agreed, and we formed a new way of ruling.
Instead of a cat being destined to lead, he would be chosen through a council of five. When I was retiring or had passed, the council would meet at the waterfall to decide my successor and every new leader after that. This clan was to built on fairness, and equality. Not predestination or biases. And it worked! In the end, I took a new mate by the name of Nightblossom, and with her I raised three kits, Toadkit, Silverkit and Leafkit. Only Silverkit and Leafkit made it to adulthood, but they carried on our legacy. When I retired to the elder's den, Minnowstreak - soon to be known as Minnowstar - took my place. He was a fine young tom, ready to bring great things to MistClan.
Camp Description:
The MistClan camp sits beside the stream, the slow moving waters lapping at the clearing. The stream itself flows into a still pool beside the camp, allowing the inhabitants a safe place to drink, fish and play. The entrance to the clan is a small, root and ivy-covered tunnel that is hidden beneath the boughs of a large willow. The entire camp is surrounded by dense bushes and thick foliage, keeping them hidden and safe. The clearing consists of a smooth, rocky floor with small plants and moss adorning the many cracks that crisscross the surface. Larger rocks crop up around the edges, many hollowed out by the ever-present water and constant rain. These rocks have been formed into dens with the Guard and Hunter dens located directly beside the entrance and the Caretakers, Medicine, and Elder den being placed near the back, beside the pool. Moss and ivy grow down onto these rocks, covering the entrances and making screens to protect the cats from the majority of the rain. The Leader's den is located under the roots of a massive willow tree that grows near the back of the clearing, its roots extending into the stream. The den is warm and moist from being underground. In the center of the pool lies a huge river rock, smoothed from years of water running over it. It's known as exactly that - the Smooth Rock, and it allows the leader to address her clan. The clan members gather around the rock, sitting in the pool to hear her announcements or ceremonies.
Cats of the Clan:
Leader: Springstar: Springstar is the current leader of MistClan. She’s only the third cat to hold the leadership position. Since she’s also the first female cat to hold this position, and easily the youngest, she tries very hard to live up to her predecessors, Hazestar and Minnowstar. As such, she’s a major busybody and must always be doing something. Even if she’s just organizing patrols or increasing her connections, this tortoiseshell she-cat is always on the move. Her fur is thick and super fluffy, which helps insulate her, but also drags her back in strong currents. As such, she does her best to stay in the calmest part of the stream. Her connection to the clan’s ancestors is weaker than her predecessors, which constantly worries her. Since she’s so dedicated to her clan, the idea that she might not be able to protect them from danger - even if she’s warned by starclan - is enough to make her break down. Head of Guards: OPEN
Head of Healers/Med cat: OPEN
Medicine Cat Apprentice: OPEN

Elders:
Foxfur: Foxfur is a cranky, mangled old tom with russet fur and white paws, underbelly and nose. He has one long scar that runs over a single eye, blinding it and leaving him with weak depth perception. His fur is patchy and the many moons of life have clearly caught up with him. He spends almost all of his time within the elder’s den, but he still welcomes apprentices and warriors alike for storytime. And by the ancestors, the stories this cat can tell. They may or may not be 100% true, but no cat in MistClan can deny that his stories are entertaining to listen to. Age - 164 moons (This is the equivalent of 13 years or so, so I think that’s accurate)Rped by: OPEN
Hazelpool: Hazelpool - Hazelpool is an unusual character in the fact that she refuses to conform to anything that is expected of her. She has a very muscular body type, being a large cat and naturally shaped to fight. When she was in her prime she had thick gray fur that hid most of her body, with the exception of her scars (which criss-cross over her side and on her left cheek). Her ears are ripped and torn, and now that she is in her elder years her fur hangs a bit more limply. She is not as fit as she was when she was younger, but she is still known to help out with anything she can around camp. Hazelpool hates being an elder in the fact that she has nothing to do, and it expected to be waited on for her final years. Although she is old, she can often be found walking around camp and doing whatever she can. Hazelpool also refuses to be around kits and younger apprentices, due to her dislike of extremely young cats. The only exception to the rule was Ripplefall, her son, and his kits (Dewpaw and Drizzlepaw) who she cares about deeply in her "hard affectionate love" way, although it would have to be noted that she cares a lot more about Ripplefall than Dewpaw and Drizzlepaw combined. When she was younger she hated the stereotype of "she-cats are weaker," which she almost immediately went against by challenging whoever had said that to her and completely beating them in a fight. Hazelpool runs on adrenaline for most things, and enjoys the thrill of the battle although she always hates the aftermath. Hazelpool especially hates ending up in the medicine cat den, whether it be because of a case of greencough or a cut from a thorn. Overall, Hazelpool is a unusual elder. Older sister to Ripplefall.Rped by: OPEN
Pondtail: Pondtail is a sweet old she-cat, who is always eager to see apprentices or the caretakers who visit them often. Her coat is light grey with silvery stripes that run along her sides. Her eyes are a pale, milky green, like someone poured milk over pistachio ice cream. She’s very kind and open, and tends to think she’s a mother figure when, in all honesty, she isn’t. Pondtail is more of an innocent grandma than anything. Her daughter is Pebblesplash. Age - 172 moons Rped by: OPEN
Warriors:
Reedclaw: Reedclaw Is an incredibly large pale brown tabby tom with darker stripes. He has large white paws, all four being a pure snow color leading to his long, thick claws. He has white ear tips and a black nose. He has large bright green eyes that are swirled with yellow. He has a large sweeping, feathered tail. He is kind, loyal, caring, and will fight to protect his loved ones, to the death if necessary. He's such a sweetheart, despite his intimidating appearance. He is sorta quiet, but very kind if you get to know him. He loves to swim and is a very strong swimmer. He is clan born and takes a lot of pride in his clan, fighting for every cat alongside him in battle as if they were his brothers and sisters. Age - 43 moons Rped by: OPEN
Rainberry: A gray tom with a white chin, underbelly, and tail tip. His paws and ear tips are black. Dewberry has dark gray, almost black, flecks that heavily dapple his body and his muzzle. He's extremely muscular and large. Her eyes are amber in color with gold flecks mixed in them. He is fierce in battle and will defend his clan with everything he has. He is extremely protective of all of the apprentices and younger members of the clan and will often be found teaching them things or communicating with them in some way when he does not have anything else to do. Age - 28 moons Rped by: OPEN
Ripplefall:
Splashfur: Silver tabby tom. He is fierce and daring but he has a kind heart. Swimming is his best skill, and playing in the water or with kits is his idea of a good time. He was originally a rogue who joined the clan as a young cat, then became an apprentice of MistClan. Rank: Guard Age - 21 moons Rped by: OPEN
Rosepetal: Beautiful white she-cat with misty green eyes. She is blind. Rosepetal is a thin, graceful she-cat with gorgeous features and a delicate, sweet personality. Her only blemish is her eyes, though some see them as a blessing. Rosepetal herself, does not. Since she’s unable to hunt and provide for the clan in that way, she’d been forced to become a caretaker instead of a hunter. She’s absolutely wonderful at what she does, but it’s a sore subject for her. She keeps things well hidden and smoothed over, and will only really spill her feelings to a mate, whenever she finds one she likes. There is no shortage of toms who are interested in her, but the feelings aren’t mutual. Rank: Caretaker Age - 26 moons Rped by: OPEN
Pebblesplash: Pebblesplash is a dark grey tabby with lighter stripes along her backs and pale paws. Her mother always said that it appeared she had been splashing in the stream, hence the she-cat’s warrior name. Her eyes are a gentle green-blue, much the same color as the water the flows through camp. Her body is built to be a swimmer, thanks to her direct lineage to the founder of the clan, Hazestar. Her fur is thick and sleek, with large paws and strong legs. Personality-wise, Pebblesplash is a kind and rambunctious young warrior. She spends far too much of her time fishing and swimming than she should. When she was an apprentice, she decided to become a hunter to allow herself to spend all of her time by the stream, fishing. Healer would have been her second choice, but the urge to fish won out. She eagerly looks forward to the day that a mate comes around and Pebblesplash can raise her own family. Despite this, she’s extremely focused on serving her clan, and tends to avoid contact with males. It’s going to take a pretty special tom to make her leave her stream, even if it’s only for a while. Rank: Hunter Age - 24 moons Rped by: Sparrowstep
Queens:
Swallowflight: a black, ginger, and white patched she-cat with a fluffy ginger chest. she is playful and kit-like and loves to run around, but this often gets her into trouble. She has 2 kits, Emberkit and Sleekkit. Rped by: OPEN
Apprentices:
Dewpaw: Dewpaw - If Dewpaw were to be represented by an image, it would be a potential storm over a calm ocean. His fur mirrors that of a storm gray, a rather unremarkable base color with salty blue eyes. He has a small build, similar to others in his family, and has long fur that is very nice when swimming in cold water but very annoying once he exits (the extra water weighing down his pelt has been the subject of many rants on the apprentice's part). He is a sweet and generally calm, much like the ocean that would lie below his stormy pelt. He is known to have a way with words, and can manipulate them to form a very persuasive argument. While he is polite, Dewpaw has also been known to make snide and sarcastic comments about various subjects to various different cats. Unfortunately, he has a habit of making such comments around important cats, such as leaders and elders, and has found himself doing dirty work for long periods of time to teach him to keep his mouth shut (although he never does). However, this sarcasm is often added on by a very calm persona which can be useful in the case of crisis, but most of the time just infuriates whoever is talking to him (especially if it is about a serious topic). Dewpaw is very close with his sister, and keeps a close ring of friends but refuses to branch out much more than that. He has not yet shown any romantic interest in anyone, nor does the eleven-moons-old apprentice intend to. He enjoys his life as it is, with the swims in the spring that he likes to take around sunhigh, and the times that he gets to go and hunt fish in the river. He likes talking to the kits (somehow, the little rascals are charming to Dewpaw), and discussing story-telling tactics with the elders (until he makes some snide comment and gets thrown out of their den, of course). His dark clouds rests above a calm ocean, and the viewer will never know if it is truly a storm or just an overcast sky. Rped by: OPEN
Drizzlepaw: Drizzlepaw can be defined by one word: aloof. The tabby she-cat has a light grey base color to her fur, with stripes like a thunderstorm running through her thick pelt. She has eyes like a sea after a storm, and her frame is wiry and small. She is more adept to running than most cats in the clan, but sometimes has troubles keeping her head above water due to her weaker stature. Drizzlepaw enjoys the shallows of the creeks and rivers that run through the territory, although she avoids the deeper areas at all costs. She does not talk to many cats, the only other feline who she does regularly converse with being her brother Dewpaw, and even when she does Drizzlepaw is known to be distant and well, aloof. Her speech is incredibly refined and dignified, and masked by a thick layer of perfection and politeness as to actually avoid telling anyone anything. Drizzlepaw’s sentences are often arranged so there will only be scraps of information in a thick paragraph. The apprentice enjoys accumulating knowledge, and would probably be the queen of blackmail if she ever set her mind to it. The she-cat keeps her information close, never letting it slip that she knows something and never revealing everything until she knows she has won. Drizzlepaw suffers from a slight bout of anxiety every time someone in a leadership position approaches her. Unlike her brother, Drizzlepaw never questions the authority and would not dare challenge them. She has a way of collecting information from every cat besides those in power, which is due to her instinct telling her to run from them instead of sneak around them in an attempt to collect knowledge. The apprentice has a very strong sense of family, although most of that is focused on her brother and less on her parents(who she still treasures). Drizzlepaw is shockingly loyal to her brother Dewpaw, and holds him high above her clan. Despite this, she would never consider turning her back to the clan unless her brother dearest would suffer repercussions due to her choice. The apprentice is a sly character, masked behind an image of refinement and perfection. (or should I say purrfection hehehe) Rped by: OPEN
Littlepaw: Littlepaw is a small cream she-cat with gentle green eyes. Her fur is thick and fluffy, like most MistClan cats. She has no distinguishable markings besides a single black spot on her back. As her name suggests, Littlepaw is the smallest of the apprentices and the weakest when it comes to fighting. But she does excel in the water, outswimming every other apprentice by a long shot. She’s determined to be the best warrior, and as such is training to be a guard. Age - 8 moons Rped by: OPEN
Otterpaw: Otterpaw is a small, thinly built, medium brown tom. His fur is wiry and water-resistant, much like his namesake. His eyes are a gentle, grey-blue. He has a gentle and kind disposition, but almost too soft for clan life. He gets scared easily, and emotional breakdowns are frequent with the young apprentice. He looks up to his mentor like a promise sent from the Blessed Lands. His main interest is in becoming a healer, since he wouldn’t have to venture far into the woods, other than to collect herbs. Since the med apprentice position is already claimed, he settled for becoming a caretaker. Age - 8 moons Rped by: OPEN
