I love Thanksgiving. I love the idea that right now, all over the country, millions of people of different ages, races, religions, sexualities, etc are all roasting turkeys, baking pies, and making whipped potatoes together. Kids are playing games, dads are watching football. And when we sit down to dinner tonight, thousands of other Americans in our timezone are eating dinner with us, at the same time, in their own homes. Although our families may look different and each of us may lead very different lives, today is a shared experience we all get to participate in together.
