I feel so weird for feeling this way, but I’ve never really cared for movies or shows. Sometimes I’ll enjoy something I watch, but even then I only want to watch it once. Once I’ve already seen it, it’s not the same. Growing up my friends would watch the same movie on repeat all day until they could quote every part of it and that drove me crazy because I would get so bored. Every one I know loves movies and shows. They’ll binge entire shows in a few days. I don’t get how they do that. I don’t know if they have it on in the background while they do other things, or if they’re actually giving their full attention to it. If I watch something, I give my full attention to it, and after a few episodes I am so tired of it and want to do something else, even if I liked what I was watching.
I wish I didn’t feel this way though because it seems fun and I know I’m missing out on a lot.

I like shows, but I hate binging for much the same reason that you explained. I feel it is best enjoyed in small doses and passive over-consumption just leads to a loss of motivation to do more worthwhile things. The older I get, the less interest I have in "marathons"; there's too much other stuff I'd rather be doing than spending all my time on one activity. Generally, my husband and I work on one show at a time and watch about two episodes per week. We'll watch a movie maybe once a month.
For what it's worth, my family growing up was never the type to re-watch the same movie over and over. We had a few movies on VHS tapes but we only re-watched them at max a few times throughout the year.

Except I was raised by my grandparents who were born in the 30’s, so they were never in touch with stuff. Media consumption was never something they bothered with.

I feel this way as well.
Tbh the only times I watch movies/TV shows is if someone else in the house happens to be watching something, I rarely ever watch movies/TV by myself (unless it's something a close friend recommended and they want to discuss it).

I used to like shows a lot until I turned to books. Nowadays tv shows are just boring unless it's an asian drama.

Not really at the moment. I have a 5 second attention span unless something causes me to focus and then I can’t stop. The joys of ADHD-PI. XD
In all seriousness I can’t because my cable isn’t working. I still couldn’t find anything too interesting when it was though.

I love movies but not shows as much. I guess because movies demand less investment of time; you can sit down for a short while and you'll know for sure whether you like the movie or not, whereas shows may take several episodes to "get good" and it's hard to tell if it's "your thing" at a glance. I also just tend to prefer more concise and efficient storytelling, and movies i think benefit from the limited time they have compared to shows that tend to start spinning their wheels while going nowhere- there is nothing I hate more than "seasonal rot"... When I like a show it's usually because it's been made with a specific ending in mind from the beginning and has a clearly planned out plotline, rather than continuing on and on and on as they continue to get timeslots.
As for my specific taste in movies I'm a huge horror movie buff so I'll watch anything with a vampire and some ridiculously fake blood in it. Love the classic Hammer stuff.
