Looking for a Partner for Fantasy Pirate RP (Or two)

I'd like to start setting up the rp with bits of world building info we can refer to, but I'd love to have you suggestions and opinions. Did you have any ideas for characters?

Yeah, I used to have some pirate OC's from an old one on one. I was clearing out my account elsewhere and came across them again, which led to the start of the pirate craving.

Originally, the Pirate Queen and her family were my characters and I had filled out a lot of the members of both the siblings crew, along with some Pirate Lords, sirens, and other magical beings. I'm not planning on bringing back all of them, but I'll be drawing on some of my old favorites and revamping them.

I'll probably change my sibling to bounce off yours a bit if you don't mind, though I am thinking of an older sibling that's the opposite gender from whichever one you want.

The Pirate Queen is a terror of a woman. Genuinely fear-inducing and not at all one to act any kinder to her children. She has high expectations for them and is the kind of bad parent who prefers criticizing to complimenting. She's taken to ruling from an island with the chief of a clan of land-dwelling people who worship the ocean, sun, and moon. Venari is... intentionally a problematic person beyond just being a pirate. She's more an antagonist than an aid to her kids, but it's with that ferocity that she's held on to her crown even after retiring from active piracy.

So I envision having a character that is either outwardly as ferocious, but for their crew they are fair and caring. Or a character that is more laid-back and intentionally a thorn in their mother's side.


As for other characters:

I have a former crownsguard named Marya who served as a first mate. She's a stoic, intimidatingly large woman who has lived a life before ever becoming a pirate.

An accountant name Alizarin or Al. He's not much of a pirate but he's no-nonsense and great with money. He would also make a good first mate. He never wanted to be a pirate, but the ship he was on was attacked by the Queen and he became a prisoner who later befriended on of the Queen's children and joined their crew. Before he fell in love with her son but never told him so and simply supported him the best he could, so I'd be interested in exploring a similar dynamic with a different character, but it isn't required.

Hughes is a physician on one of the ships. Unknown to most, he used to be a pirate captain himself, but now he's just this friendly old doctor and cook who provides wise advice and insight when asked.

I have Gin who is an apprentice Master-at-Arms, but she was a new character near the end of my time rp'ing with this partner, so I didn't get to explore her much.

Niya is a pirate lord who comes from a desert land. She's an up-and-comer who took over from her father and was a rival and friend to the Queen's children.

Rat is a young cabin boy who had managed to hide on one of the ships for over a month. He survived by stealing food in the galley and when he was finally caught he was likened to a rat. He's become a much beloved member of the crew who does what he can to prove himself a pirate. He's since acquired a little primate friend that was taken from a fur trader whose ship they raided.


As for the more magical sort, I mostly have sirens.

The way my sirens work is that they're entirely a female species. The type of biome they live in affects the kind of siren they are. A Reef siren is brightly colored, pretty, and usually the one you would hear about singing sailors to their doom in spite of it being a feature all sirens have. The reason for this is that they don't drown sailors for food or fun, they turn them into Mer. Mer act as a mates, guardians, and servants for sirens. They lose all of their humanity and become solely loyal to the siren who turned them.

Reef siren tend to have harems of mer as status symbols. They're tropical sirens found in coral reefs and shallower parts of the ocean. Their tails and features are based more on the brightly colored, tropical fish. They're also known to be the most vain and petty of the siren race.

Deepsea Sirens are also known as Trench Witches. These would be your freakier and darker sirens. If Ursula were a siren, she would be a Deapsea Siren. They're known most for their magic. When they make a mer it's just a temporary thing for breeding. A Mer can't survive the depths that these sirens live in and are often killed after they've provided their usefulness.

Then there's Polar Sirens who are found in the cold seas. These ladies are pack hunters who are more survival minded. They're fashioned like orcas and other cold water swimmers. They may only have one or two mer per siren at a time because the more mer they have, the more mouths to feed. They make up for the lack of numbers with ferocity instead.

Sirens form sisterhoods, dominated by a lead siren. How these sisterhoods work is a little different depending on the kind of siren. Reefs are larger but more open to infighting. Polars are tight-knit and medium sized with the leader being the strongest and most proven siren. Deapsea siren have the smallest sisterhoods and don't stay with one another all the time, rather they call on each other when needed and their leader is usually the oldest siren whose magic is the strongest.


As far as bringing in one of my siren characters, I'll probably decide that more later and keep what ones I play in more antagonistic roles. I do have some really old art I drew for each type and a headshot I bought for a deapsea siren I may end up using.


Finally I have Jennas, who is a genie. I actually really love this character. When I played her before she was already an established crew member, but I'd like to play with her meeting the group in the story and seeing how that changes things. In the old rp, her vessel was shattered and genies without a vessel get swept up into the wind, turning into magical dust that is returned to the world. To avoid this fate, the man who would become her captain wished for her new vessel to be his ship. My genies don't do 3 wishes, instead for every wish they grant, they get something in return of equal value and aren't servants. They're servants of a higher power and not shackled to laws about how they can grant their wishes. A genie wish is something that has to be handled carefully, because the cost could be greater than you expected and the genie can interpret the wish however they please.
