Im rereading PoT rn and im once again blown away at the fact that Barkface literally survives this entire arc. like yeah he dies off screen/arc but the fact that he's like the equivalent of 115 in human years basically and still the clan doctor and doing it well is so funny to me. and its a thing with a lot of windclan cats cause heatherstar and tallstar outlived so many of their peers, crowfeather and nightcloud are younger than ever and Gorse Fur lived his wife's entire nine lives and got his own. it must be all that running they do nnnnn

Not to be the errm ackshually guy here but Barkface died in his late 60s lol
I guess that maybe the ShadowClan battles and poisoned rabbits killed a lot of Bark and Tall's peers

Not to be the errm ackshually guy here but Barkface died in his late 60s lol Yeah, the Warriors Wiki estimates he died when he was 13.5 years old. This fandom seems to think any cat that lives past 10 is a biological anomaly that needs to keel over and die immediately. I feel like WindClan’s important cats (as in POV characters, leaders, deputies, and medicine cats) aren’t living noticeably longer than ThunderClan’s or RiverClan’s important cats.

I think it would be a bit easier because he’s a medicine cat, so he’s never really being put in scenarios where he needs to fight.

I was thinking more of how they all half-starve every winter, the wear on the joints, long list of diseases their body has to fight off, etc. I mean battling doesn’t help but it’s honestly one of the lesser contributions.

But the cats do have access to the magic yarrow that can save all of the important characters from imminent greencough death.

(It does help with scratches but that wasn’t the usage that came to mind.) Just throw up the infection and internal bleeding, then you’ll be right as rain!

I feel like WindClan’s important cats (as in POV characters, leaders, deputies, and medicine cats) aren’t living noticeably longer than ThunderClan’s or RiverClan’s important cats. i mean if we being realistic 10 is very old- if the writers were consistent a lot more cats currently hoggin up space would have died of age related causes sometime ago. and tbh they really kinda are. Heatherstar was leader before cedarstar, pinestar and hailstar and two of those cats stopped being leader/on their ninth life and she was still here. Barkface outliving his own leader with nine lives by like a year and half (ages in warrior cats timeline) is kinda crazy (and he was like 3 moons older) not to mention tallstar himself was a full grown warrior with the prime of his life (his SE i mean) already behind him and crookedstar and bluestar were literally infants- and he still watched them both croak and kept on going. theres other examples too but i just feel like they got something no one else does lmao
