what do you mean by the uprising of brainrot in particular? mostly the skibidi toilet, brainrot words such as: sigma, rizz, looksmaxxing, fanum tax, etc. but also about gen alpha in general |

what do you mean by the uprising of brainrot in particular? mostly the skibidi toilet, brainrot words such as: sigma, rizz, looksmaxxing, fanum tax, etc. but also about gen alpha in general idk any of those words 😭 my only personal experience with gen alpha kids is my nephews (ages 1-10) and they are sweet, normal boys. but they are also home schooled and aren't on the internet so maybe they've been saved from the unspeakable horrors of being raised by ipads that have impacted most of their generation. |

i do have to say though that i'm always a little hesitant when i hear people smacktalking the younger generation because while there are some legit critiques to be made of any gen, often times it's just criticizing them for doing the exact same things millenials and zoomers did at that age: having fun with youtube poops and meme culture. it's just that now we're on the outside looking in.
i mean, im sure older generations thought our endless vine references, flossing, and dabbing were annoying brainrot effects.

Every generation has their own slang that seems nonsensical. Also, I teach gen alpha in swim lessons and they don't seem any more or less well-adjusted than kids I've taught from gen z. |

Imo gen Z (I'm a gen Z) is more of a problem. Right now they're causing lots of trouble to some states or maybe the whole US from what the news have been saying for the past months. Gen alpha/the next generation after them is still growing, I agree that majority are spoiled but that's mostly because of their parents not knowing how to say no or discipline them.

I sort of get why people are often weary of what next generations will bring but think it's a tad unfair to always assume the worst of them. It also seems to be a recurring theme for older generations to bash/hate on the younger ones though. My generation (Gen Z) constantly gets insulted by Baby Boomers, Gen X or even Millenials for being "lazy", "unthankful", "disrespectful", "cringy" and so on, after all. I have a Gen Alpha nephew who will be turning four soon. He's rather spoiled, has a low attention span and constantly wants to get gifts/presents. But he's also curious, learns quickly and loves to interact with people (not so much with kids his own age yet though).

tbh even though a lot of things about gen alpha worries me (mainly the unregulated access to ipads and other electronics at an extremely young age) I don't think them using weird slang is bad. every generation has their own jargon that older generations find weird or cringeworthy.

Humanity had a good run. But nothing lasts forever. Realistic answer? This is a good reason why I am not having children/teaching/dealing with children. Gen Z is cringe (I'm gen z) but Gen Alpha/Whatever the gen after them is named scares me. Kids cannot read, hold a thoughtful conversation and talk about something about a toilet. I am fearful for the future of humanity. Me saying “this generation is cooked” but unironically |
