I absolutely love Halloween!!! It's one of my favorite holidays! <3
Unfortunately I'm limited in what I can do to celebrate atm. There are no parties for me to go to. I'm too old to trick-or-treat and don't have younger siblings I can chaperone. I don't like being jumpscared, so haunted house walkthroughs are out of the question, and I can't do scary / gory movies. There are no kids in my neighborhood either, so I can't hand out candy. The most I can do is decorate, carve pumpkins, read horror novels, and dress up for my own amusement. ;v;
If I could, I'd be going to parties, handing out candy, and going all out on decorations. Maybe one day! I'd also still be trick-or-treating if it was socially acceptable. I'm short enough that if I cover my face and tag along with a group of kids and let them be the ones to say "trick-or-treat" I could get away with it - I did that once as an older teen just to see if I could and it worked lmao

I feel like this forum is split up into two sides….team “I love children!” and team “ALL CHILDREN ARE EVIL SHELTER FROM THE BEASTS” i don't think children are evil. i am just intensely socially awkward and avoid interaction with people of any age usually

I don't feel that strongly about it, but i didn't really like children even when I was a children. As I've gotten older I've felt less bitter about it though and realized its mostly due to the way I was raised by people who were already treating me like an adult and I didn't have kids to play with so peers were an annoyance. The neurospicy didn't help the case either.
I would never say I hate kids, thats too far because kids are generally innocent or just didnt know better and arent bad just for existing less time than i have. I just don't want to be the one expected to take care of them until they're intelligent enough to hold a serious conversation and be understandable when speaking back. I can't stand the infant to toddler stage because i don't know how.
Trick or treating is an exception because they're supposed to be there and at your door but if they are infant-toddler the parent is gonna be doing it for them anyway and all i see is a cute kid in a costume and i don't have to be the one taking the brat home after i give them sugar lol.

I feel like this forum is split up into two sides….team “I love children!” and team “ALL CHILDREN ARE EVIL SHELTER FROM THE BEASTS” my completely non-scientific observances over the years on this forum make me inclined to say the prevailing opinion here is ambivalence or “they’re fine, not for me”. those who have strong opinions one way or another are the minority.

What things have you guys dressed up as when you were younger? I think when I was a baby I was one of the green pigs from angry birds, then in elementary one year I was a vampire, then during junior high, before I chopped off my hair and got a binder I was Spider-Man and I got so annoyed that people kept calling me ‘spidergirl’ and ‘spider woman’ that I literally quit after the first hour. That was also the first year I went with my friends instead of my family. The next year I’d been in a mental hospital sometime during October and wasn’t allowed to trick or treat for more than half an hour and I was REALLY mad about that. I was also super proud of my costume that year and I literally started sobbing when I got home lol (I was wearing a cat costume from Amazon lol). I think I might do it this year and just wear my Dino mask. Yeah I’m gonna do that. Heck, I was a taco when I was 1 Fast forward- I can't remember what my parents did back then lol I was an avocado one year Then, I dressed up as Luke Skywalker with a friend who did Leia. Then I did a Toothless onesie Then my whole family did Harry Potter last year. (we colored my hair pink for that one- and went to school that day with bright pink hair lol) That same year it snowed, and we still decided to go trick or treating, so I did the onesie again, with snow gear underneath. We hit 3 different neighborhoods and got all their candy, because the people were desperate to get rid of it lol Sadly, I can't wear the beautiful onesie to school on costume day, because around here, people will start calling me a furry and that's NOT a compliment in these parts. (plus its hot anyways)
