Okay so since it’s September now it’s OFFICIALLY SPOOKY TIME™
If you celebrate Halloween, are you gonna decorate? How all out do you go for the holiday? If you still go trick or treating and/or dress up, what will you go as? If you’re gonna be at home will you hand out candy or shelter in place? Are you gonna be one of those houses with the bowls of toothbrushes that have a note saying ‘only take one’ as if anyone even wants to take more than one? Also, DOES ANYBODY HAVE ONE OF THOSE THIRTEEN FOOT SKELETONS???? :0

I usually work Halloween until 7 or 8 pm. No costumes and huge bowl on the stoop. It gets refilled when I come home. Anything left over is either brought to work or kept for myself.
I do decorate my house though. Nothing too scary because I deal with anxiety issues and don’t need jump scares in my house. XD

I went to Lowe’s yesterday and I was like oh neat there’s a big thing *looks up* …oh god there’s a big thing. I literally was frozen in place until the giant ass like 20 foot creepy thing stopped moving and it was embarrassing but like I had no idea I was so scared of things that are bigger than they should be

What things have you guys dressed up as when you were younger? I think when I was a baby I was one of the green pigs from angry birds, then in elementary one year I was a vampire, then during junior high, before I chopped off my hair and got a binder I was Spider-Man and I got so annoyed that people kept calling me ‘spidergirl’ and ‘spider woman’ that I literally quit after the first hour. That was also the first year I went with my friends instead of my family. The next year I’d been in a mental hospital sometime during October and wasn’t allowed to trick or treat for more than half an hour and I was REALLY mad about that. I was also super proud of my costume that year and I literally started sobbing when I got home lol (I was wearing a cat costume from Amazon lol). I think I might do it this year and just wear my Dino mask. Yeah I’m gonna do that.

Probably a few other things.

This is a month too early for me (not a complaint, it just feels closer to summer than fall and Halloween here), but I don’t really do much to celebrate anymore. I don’t pass out candy because there are no kids here, but I used to before I moved. I don’t live in a neighborhood, so there aren’t many houses around, and most of the neighbors are older. I also live on a road with a fairly high speed limit, and there are no sidewalks, and it’s kind of far to walk from anywhere else, which is why there are no kids trick or treating here.
When I was younger, I think I was generally various animals, like a dinosaur, bird, or fox. I quit trick or treating after elementary school though (it made me anxious and I preferred to pass out candy instead). I haven’t dressed up in a while, but if I needed to I’d probably try to make an airline pilot costume for a defunct airline using authentic parts of a uniform. For example, I have some wings from a local airline that no longer exists and you can buy epaulettes and other things like that.

No I live at the bottom of a scary dark hill that no kid dares venture to. It's peaceful.

actually spooky season starts september 22nd bc that’s when summer ends👆🤓
Anyways jokes aside, I always hand out candy. I get sad watching kids trick or treat knowing I’m now considered too “old” to do it but contributing to making other kids happy is enough for me. I dress up every year, last year I was Yoshi from Mario. Not sure what I’ll be this year, probably some sort of animal onesie. I live on a neighborhood that doesn’t get too many tick or treaters yet we always buy so much candy so I give it like mountains of stuff to every kid lmao. Normally we don’t get anymore than like seven.
ALSO MY FRIEND HAS ONE OF THOSE SKELETONS ITS SO DERPY I LOVE IT

I was an Owl three years ago, a Pikachu two years ago, and Vulpix last year. I plan to be a Witch or a Vampire this year, but only if I hand out candy since I now live in my parents second house which is a farm house so pretty sure there's going to be no one at the door.

this will be my first halloween, but i don't live in an area with a lot of kids, so I'll probably just leave a bowl on my porch so i don't have to sit by the door all night for no one to show up lol

I love handing out candy and seeing all the little kids in costumes! Also am still fond of dressing up too even though I just sit on my porch with the candy bowl lol
and reading through the ppl saying this is a month too early, maybe its cause i work retail and we had fall stuff out in May which is like actual insanity, but i kinda don't rlly think starting to put together ideas/plans/prepwork two months in advance is going overboard, especially as someone who handmakes stuff. Like def too early to be putting out decorations, I usually won't do that till like a week or two ahead of the occasion. But I have started to consider what kind of costume I might try making this year :3

Nobody goes trick or treating at apartment complexes so getting candy is awaste of money.
I do dress up though even if its just to sit in my living room doing nothing.

The kids in my country celebrate Halloween at school and sometimes they’ll go trick or treating. My street isn’t one the kids come down though, so I don’t do anything for Halloween except for decorations.

If I did that here in America I’d be the object of ridicule for the entire school lmao.

yeah in the three years we were in apartment complexes, we never got trick-or-treaters. we usually went to hang out with my nephews and take them trick-or-treating instead over in their neighborhood.
now that we are in a house, i am very excited to hopefully get some TOTers!! there is an elementary school in the neighborhood so there should be plenty of kids. i keep meaning to ask our neighbors how much we should expect so we can load up on candy appropriately.

Last year I think one was dressed up as Spiderman and I don't remember what the younger one dressed up as lol.

The most decorating I do is put out a little pumpkin on the porch. When I lived with my parents, I'd cut a face into a bigger pumpkin, take out the seeds, and we'd bake them. Last Halloween no kids showed up since it snowed. I was stuck with so much candy, it was crazy. There's no way I'll do it again for a while.
