You can probably guess what this thread's gonna be about... So, Leafstar really has a lot of death flags. The arc is called Changing Skies. She's struggling with a "loss of vision", and the Clan is doubting her ability to lead well anymore (basically Brambleclaw in TBC), and she's really, really old already. She's also front and center on the cover, similar to Mistystar being on the cover of the first A Starless Clan book. Do you think she'll bit it in The Elders' Quest, and in her own POV? No? Why or why not? If she won't die this book, then when would you think she might?

If she doesn’t die here, she gets one more POV book to die in.

I can see it happening but who knows if they will really kill off a leader in the first book of an arc again so soon after Mistystar in ASC.
Granted, one could argue they already did so in TBC with Bramblestar as well but that was a whole other thing due to the possession of his body by Ashfur and him coming back at the end of the arc.
I just kinda hope this won't become a "new" pattern at this point lol.

I think it would be incredibly tacky to present Leafstar as a main character of the arc and then kill her in off in book 1 as the resolution to her leadership struggles immediately after an arc where a much shittier leader got to be patted on the back and allowed to retire if I'm being honest. I'm like, not opposed to an eventual Leafstar death if it was a good send-off to her character but that would not be it imo

I mean, poor Brambles would've certainly not been able to come back from rabies unlike with possession, so there's that. I feel like if they had introduced it, rabies could've made for a good "zombie apocalypse" with thinning out the huge cast of characters though. But hey, that's what fanfic is for, after all. Rabies was a neat theory at the time, yet I'm still glad Bramblestar didn't end up having it.
